I stopped by to check out some wine and spirits. They have a large selection but they have some labels that I could not find. I guess many liquor stores carry certain labels and some don't. While browsing, a nice gentleman asked me if I needed help. That was very refreshing and welcome. They carry non alcoholic beers as well as regular beers. Prices are a bit higher than some of the other larger warehouse type liquor stores, but they are convenient to the customers on the East side of Providence. read more

Every Friday they do a free in house wine tasting and it has opened us to many wines we may not have tried (or bought!) before. The rewards program is awesome, highly recommend signing up. Bottles Fine Wines helped me out when I was looking for a wine I had on a recent Alaska trip. They actually had four bottles in stock (no one else I'd called had heard of the wine, let alone had any available, so maybe these were left over from someone else's special order). I bought two, and about a month later went back for a few more... and they still had four left? I was also able to special order single bottles of a different varietal they don't usually carry. Delivery took just a few days. The employee who helped me locate other items I was looking for was knowledgeable about both the store layout, and the relative drinkability of a number of non-alcoholic options. The beer selection seems large, and my husband found the Portuguese Special Boch that he likes but can't consistently find around her. Prices here may occasionally be a bit higher on some items than you might find in other stores, but there's no sense of gouging. I haven't noticed any difference in quality of service since the supermarket next door closed, but I'm worried that business seems to be down and there may need to be staffing cuts eventually which would likely reduce the current very fast and responsive service. read more

We've been coming here on-and-off for about 9 years. For my cheap stuff, I go elsewhere. For my fun, new, and better quality items I come here. Great selection of pretty much everything, especially when it comes to fun Asian drinks and liquors. Fantastic wine selection, fantastic whiskey selection (encompassing a fair representation of all varieties). Their rum and gin selections tend to be a little sparse, but they carry all of the old standards and always have at least one interesting pick. Solid liquor store. I truly enjoy going to the store. They have a solid rewards program. When you sign up and spend $500, you get $25 back towards a bottle of your choosing. Given that people rarely, ever receive any money back from shopping at liquor stores, I find the program quite compelling. The price of the bottles, on average, are reasonable. You can find a bottle of Whiskey for around $25 or a bottle of Cognac for about $40. Their beers are also set at a reasonable price. I only tried it one time and then I said oops sorry while he proceeded to call me a piece of ish under his breath like a passive little Peter. He is lucky I was in a good mood. Bottles has become a regular stop for my varying liquor needs. They have a large selection of fine wines, craft beers, and cocktails. The brightly lit store is very easy to navigate, most everything is easy to locate. Location is very convenient, situated next to Eastside Marketplace. It's great to take one trip out to plan a special dinner and find a perfectly matched beverage to enjoy along with it. This is the kind of place where I rarely purchase the same thing twice. It's the one liquor store that I enjoy purusing what they have to offer each and every time I go! Their selection changes enough each time that I consistently find something new that I'd like to try. If I'm having a hard time deciding, the staff are helpful in suggesting something to fit my tastes. While I haven't gotten to take advantage of this service, they often hold tastings, times advertised on a chalk board outside. Perhaps I'll get lucky enough on a future visit to arrive during one of these alotted periods. I was surprised to find out that some people thought Bottles only sold high priced liquor. While they do in fact carry expensive selections (like the bottle of Dom Perignon I was staring at last time!), there are more than enough affordable options in all departments. Just gotta look!!!! I have been offered many wonderful recommendations from the staff over the years. Vodka beyond Absolut? Only familiar with Captain Morgan's Rum or Jose Cuervo Tequila? There is a lot to learn and the fine people at Bottles are happy to teach. The event that made Bottles my steady wine-and-spirits place was the opportunity to create a wine and spirit registry. Having been with my now-wife for several years and living together, toasters and towels were not needed. The makings of a great cocktail, however, were always welcomed. Alex was amazing: she walked with us throughout the store creating a spreadsheet that would serve as our registry. When we were stuck i on what to add, she was there to make stellar recommendations. The registry process made me love this great place even more. Since the registry, I have made many great purchases and attended a number of tastings. Gorgeous. Thoughtful. Clean. Sophisticated. You may think I am describing the ideal mate, but no - I am describing Bottles. As someone who is usually grossed out by dirty, stinky, unkempt liquor stores, I was absolutely stunned upon entering Bottles. It's so clean and beautiful it's like a boutique - a booze boutique. Everything is organized and placed in a logical and easy-to-find manner. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and astonishingly well-dressed. This is clearly a place that cares about what they are selling and how it's all presented. One genius thing about this shop - they have nips of special liquors (St. Germain, Chartreuse, etc.) at the register so you can make sure they appeal to you before dropping $40-$60 on the regular bottle. So thoughtful! They also have a club membership program thingy so you earn points with each purchase. Their prices are competitive, too - occasionally on the higher but given the experience I don't mind. Bottles is probably one of the largest and nicest liquor stores I've ever been to. They have a large selection of wines and beers, as well as dedicated shelves for each type of liquor. They also carried all of the little extras that you would need to make mixed drinks besides just the usual bottles of margarita mix. Despite the massive selection though everything was organized and easy to find. The staff was friendly and helpful. They even had a dedicated gift wrapping station set up. read more

Another great liquor store here in Providence. Bottles has it all, from cases to Gansett to locally produced spirits. Location is nicely situated next to Eastside Marketplace, so you don't miss not being able to buy booze in the grocery store thanks to RI blue laws. The staff is very friendly and never hesitate to offer assistance in any way that they can. They also have a good and updated list of their 'cellar' wines on their website; basically their premier wines (sometimes spirits too). Nick (the wine director) is super helpful and quick to reply about any inquiries on that list. That being said, they've also got plenty of great wines under $15. There's three tastings every week. Spirits on Thursday, beer on Friday, wine on Saturday. Did I mention they deliver? How cool is that? Very cool. read more

Been here a few times with my friend. Bottles is very clean and everyone that works there is always very friendly. Once when they had their 50 shades of Rose promotion (with rose popsicles) we left suddenly as we were in line for the popsicles because we decided it was probably best to grab something quick at the grocery store next door (and use the bathroom before we roamed around looking for alcohol). We came back to find the woman putting everything away for the promotion she said she remembered that we were coming back and saved us the remainder of the two popsicles. Besides this promotion, they have a large selection of hard alcohol, wine and beer as well as a pretty large selection of specialty items that I am not able to find elsewhere. I feel that the prices are also very reasonable. Would definitely recommend, plenty of parking and not far from the highway. read more

At home in Illinois, it was easy to get groceries and then a bottle of wine - should your impulses orient you in such a way. You can't do this in Rhode Island. So...after your time at East Side Market, or just on its own trip, Bottles is a very accessible, friendly, clean, and well laid out place to buy alcohol. Wine is the main focus here, which I don't mind, since I prefer wine to any other sort of libation. I think that the craft beer selection here is good, too, though I'm not the most knowledgeable about this. The employees are super friendly and helpful as well! I think my favorite part is the specificity. Each bottle of wine is organized by country/region, but each specific bottle has a descriptor below it not just with price and other essentials, but also pairing information. But not just "pasta" or "steak." It is very specific, like "tarragon" or "duck and roasted cherries." And this is for every bottle of wine. You can tell that they go the extra mile here, and I like business that do that. read more

Love this place. It gets a four star because nothing is inexpensive. I'm from California and you can get cheap alcohol everything. Craft beers and wines for cheap. Here everything is just decently priced and nothing is inexpensive. The great things about this store are: 1. location 2. selection 3. delivery 4. friendly staff Right in Wayland Square, this store is very close to restaurants and specialty markets that you might be visiting anyway. I hear that they deliver but I have yet to see what they charge for such a service. Either way, I've never had alcohol delivered to my house so just the prospect of this is exciting. As for selection, this place has all kinds of different craft beers and liquors. A lot of the selection is local and from around New England and that's very exciting for me because I'm not from New England at all and I'm having a lot of fun trying things that I've never tried before. This place also does tastings all the time. Come in and get boozed up! So far I'm loving the UFO Pumpkin and the STORM Blueberry. My favorite East Coast beer before moving here was the SHIPYARD PUMPKINHEAD ALE and I still highly recommend that beer, it's just special as all hell! Never tasted another beer like it... Yes, it's still my favorite. I recently tried a Grapefruit hef that they were selling at Bottles and just so you know it doesn't taste like a beer at all, more like one of those vodka coolers. It's good but it doesn't taste like a beer at all, you have been warned. I'm a big fan of hefs so that was disappointing, since hefs in general mix well with fruit, but I love grapefruit so it's still delicious just not what it claims to be. read more

In my fifteen years of buying wine I have never had to return a bottle or wine that went bad, nor thought it was possible, but that happened to me when I bought a Kermit bottle that was wine of the month. Unfortunately we got a bad one in the batch, and the staff was really cool about it when I came back the next day with a half empty bottle of wine. Hmm....a week ago I wanted to give Bottles a 5 star review. But today, it's a 3 star. The layout of the store is easy to navigate and the selection is great for wines, beers and liquors alike. A good number of local beers available including growlers from Bucket Brewery which my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised to find. We also purchased a bottle of wine that has now been put at the top of my list. It's not a fancy wine by any means but it suited my palette and I can't wait to try it again. Well fast forward a few days, past a trip back to return our growler for the deposit refund and a little internet search to find out more about this new wine I like so much. Turns out they don't give cash back on growler deposits. What the...? That's four bucks of my hard earned moulah! Maybe I don't want a store credit. Maybe I was hoping to go get a latte with that. Also, it turns out that the bottle of wine I paid $17.99 for, most people around the country are paying an average of $11 for it.....that's quite the East Side upcharge. Overall, I'm sure I'll be back to Bottles at some point but the prices are definitely a bit deterring. read more

I love this place, stocked with the hard-to-finds, top shelfs, and what ever you would find in the well at a bar. When it comes to advice, no other liquor store comes close to Bottles. The staff is friendly and each member has a special interest and is passionate to share their knowledge. Price... like all liquor stores some items are competitive and some are higher than a large discount warehouse. If you are just looking for the best price on cheap vodka, this is not the place for you. I conveniently work in the plaza and I have yet to find what I'm looking for in this place. My tastes and interests change based on my mood. With a name like BOTTLES, you would expect a greater selection on wines and spirits. They carry the average stuff at a slightly higher price. I guess for those who want to purchase with a little class and dignity ( pinkie up, girls!) it's ok.... I've found the neighborhood "sketchy" ones to be cheaper and have a greater selection of not so popular and imported beer and wines. Definitely better hours and more customer service. Bottles states that they don't have it and that's it. At least the "sketchy" ones get on the computer, find it and offers to order it or tells you where it's located. So of your drinking pallets is average, Bottles will if just fine! read more

I've been to Bottles twice. The first time was a great experience. I was really impressed with selection, especially the wines under $15. I'm always looking for a bargain on wine and there were many that were new to me. The staff was very helpful. I was happy to sign up for the rewards program where you spend a certain amount and get a reward afterwards. I really thought I'd found my new favorite package store. Well, the next time I went I wasn't as impressed with the selection. Many of the wines in the bargain section I can find at my neighborhood store at a better price. But what really bothered me was at check out the clerk asked me if I was a rewards member and I said I was. She claimed she couldn't find me in the system and had absolutely no inclination to solve the problem. Maybe it was because I was making a small purchase but I thought it was pretty poor customer service. Mistakes happen but I think it's odd that Bottles sends me their marketing emails but are unwilling (I assume) to give me the rewards. I won't be back. read more

Everyone loves Bottles. Are the prices a little high? Well, of course they are! This is the kind of place you swing by on your way to a birthday or dinner party when you haven't had time to grab a gift yet. Service: They always seem to be well staffed and use this to provide a high level of customer service - from asking to assist in your selection of booze to jumping on a register to move the check out line along faster. Selection: I'd be surprised if you don't find many things you've never seen before. The beer selection is varied but again, this isn't the place you would go to for your own fridge stock. This is where you go to grab a fancy interesting looking beer (or wine or sake or cordial or spirit or mixer). Pricing: An example of the pricing... there's a certain white wine that my SO likes to drink, therefore I'm very familiar with the pricing. At Bottles it is $13.99. At most other places this same wine sells for $12.99 but I've found it as cheap as $9.99 at a certain other store. The beer pricing runs about the same. For a 6 pack of craft beer you'll pay $0.50 to $1 more than you would at other beverage stores. So, not too bad on the markup for a boutique style store. Location: With Eastside Marketplace next door and Whole Foods up the block and a Rite Aide at the end of the parking lot, they really have a nice location. Eastside especially has a lot of unique items too which again, is great for when you don't want to show up to someone's house empty handed. Samples: From 4-7 (I believe) on Friday and Saturday (maybe Thursday too) they will typically have some booze vendor there offering samples. I love samples and have made some great finds this way. Again... great for when you are headed to a party because you can sample something and if you like it, buy it and speak knowingly about it when you hand it over to the party host! Typically Whole Foods provides a snack tray to go along with this. The downside to the samples is that the store is on the smaller side and is packed with inventory. The person offering samples is tucked away into a small spot and the people trying the drinks are trying to stay out of the way of shoppers which means they get close to the samples which, in turn, makes it VERY difficult for newcomers to get their hand on a sample. It can be quite annoying to really want to try something and stand there for a long time while folks are sipping tiny beers blocking the tiny beer with your name on it. In summary - Great place to grab a last minute gift or if you want to try something you've never seen or heard of before. Also- there's a point program where you earn points for each purchase and get a (one time) discount once you reach a certain amount. read more

I really feel like my first Prov review should be one that involves one of the many fine dining places I've tried since I moved here a little under a year ago, but I can't help it, I need to right a Yelp wrong. Bottles has a great selection, no doubt, and the people are quite friendly, also, no lie. But to say the pricing is great is a crime against the booze imbibing inhabitants of Providence. A bottle of vodka that I nearly purchased only days before at Yankee Spirits was fully four dollars more at Bottles. Now, someone is bound to point out that Bottles is primarily focused on wine, and while I will give you that, they sell an abundance of other alcohol that is stunningly overpriced. The wine is only a little marked-up, and that's whatever. But to be four dollars more on a bottle of vodka of the same size and brand as a place not twenty minutes away is astounding. Also, in case anyone points out Yankee Spirits is in Mass with no liquor tax, to that I say: I'm talking shelf price not the price at check out, folks.
