Thorpe's is as good as your local package store gets. Since new owners took over in 2010? it has really improved. The staff are friendly and helpful. If they don't have what you are looking for and you let them know, it will be on their shelves the next week- I've experienced this personally and it is really refreshing to have business owners who listen to the customers! They have a really good selection of craft and boutique beers and from what I can tell a decent selection of wine and liquors. The prices are GREAT! And let me say you'd think they would be higher because of the area, but their prices are much better than many close by "discount" liquor stores. During holiday times and busy days the staff are always efficient, I have never had to wait very long to make actual purchases. After a while too they start to familiarize themselves with you and they get to know you. A final thing that my husband and I both appreciate is that they stay open until 10:00 on the dot! Mai tai, old fashioned, margarita, cosmopolitan, White Russian, mojito... all for $3.99 a can. I'm obsessssssed. I got 2 of the espresso martinis & 2 of the mojitos. Also stopped by the entrance to try the reposado & blanco tequilas from G4 with a very nice gentleman guiding my tasting experience. Happy Friday!

It's organized without feeling overly polished or sterile, and it's easy to walk around and actually look through the selection without feeling cramped. The ample parking is another plus, which sounds like a small thing until you've tried making a quick stop at a place where parking is a hassle. I was particularly happy with the beer selection. There's a good variety, with enough choices that you can find the familiar stuff while still having some opportunities to try something different. The wine selection is even better. There's a pretty broad range, so whether you already know what you want or just want to browse for something interesting, there's plenty to look through. They also have a decent cigar section, which was a nice bonus. It's not the reason I would make the trip by itself, but having a cigar selection alongside the beer and wine makes the store a little more interesting than your typical neighborhood liquor shop. Overall, I had a good experience at Atwood. Clean store, plenty of parking, good beer and wine selections, and a respectable cigar section. Nothing about the visit gave me a reason to complain, although I reserve five stars for places that really manage to distinguish themselves. Four stars feels right here. It would have been fairly simple for the manager to refund me the 23.98 but instead he was not very nice and told me he couldn't do anything about it, I would have to call my bank.
