Sunday night i was greeted by the rudest person ever, not realizing it was so close to closing, the guy shouted out loudly "we close in 5 minutes" I said excuse me and he repeated it even louder. I have seen this guy many times before, I observe him to be either being obnoxious to me and other customers or vaping outside by the entrance. I haven't been in in a few months and there was some girl on the microphone who was obnoxious. Then some man with glasses rang me out. It appeared he has some friend there waiting inside. This chain of wine and spirits has a large selection to please most anyone. The store is huge. The wine and liquor sections are very well stocked. It's convenient to Garden City, so if you are in the area, this makes a quick and easy stop. I was looking for a small Bailey's Irish Cream but all I found was the larger bottle. Still, while browsing, I noticed a good inventory of rums, whiskey, etc....and the prices are not bad....not the best in the area, but reasonable. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They are kind of discriminatory here. My mom asked me to come to Wines&More and buy a bottle of red wine for Thanksgiving. Today I showed up to buy what my mom asked. I am 26 and brought along my girlfriend who is 20. When we get to the register, the clerk asked to see our IDs. I inform him that my GF is underage. At this point the clerk immediately starts taking everything off the table saying he cannot sell to me. I then ask the clerk if he can hold the wine bottle under the counter (so that I can come back into the store alone and buy it). The clerk responds by telling me he cannot sell to me. However, parents come in here all the time with their children and the store always sells to the parents despite them being in the company of children (who are under 21). So what's with this policy? Why are some people allowed to buy alcohol with underage people with them while some others are not? This indicates the clerk judged my appearance, without even looking at my ID he concluded I was up to no good. If you don't want anyone under 21 then that's fine; put up a sign and enforce it. But don't be subjective and allow some people to buy alcohol with minors and not allow others, because that's a dangerous area and gets discriminatory real quick. Your clerk judged me and there should be no subjectivity at the counter at the clerk's discretion. Anyways, I had to drive across town to another liquor store to buy the wine we needed. They didn't have the larger bottle size so I had to buy two small bottles. Who the hell brings two bottles of the same wine to a Thanksgiving party? read more

Anything lower than five stars feels like an affront to this place. The wine selection is broad, deep, and rotates fresh offerings in regularly. The liquor segment is expansive and well-organized. And the beers...my heavens. Single bottle and six-packs of some of the best and rarer labels from around the world, all available for create-your-own six-packs, each at 10% off if you do. Plentiful full cases and cold availability, all at very competitive prices. And with beer, wine, and spirits, they have a deep reserve of other things they can special order for you. I admit that this isn't always my first stop for beer, because I usually need to spend 45+ minutes scouring the selection, deciding what to buy, re-thinking, and eventually checking out. I can't do that every time, but each time I can afford the time (or I can self-discipline myself to just run in and shop off a list), this is an utterly magnificent store to hit. Definitely one of my favorite liquor stores because the selection is incredible. It's a bit overwhelming in here but the staff is great and always willing to help you find what you need. The craft beer selection of loose bottle and packs is like no other around. There's aisles and aisles full of beer. And if you're more of a domestic drinker, check out the "beer cave" in the back with large cases of beer. They've also got some really interesting boxed wines that you can't find anywhere else. Recently I picked up "The Birdman" Pinot Grigio because of the interesting box, and it's probably the tastiest boxed white wine I've ever had. I really used to like shopping at this store but I have to say after this last experience that I won't return. The are too many liquor stores out there to waste my time on bad service. I can buy liquor anywhere. We went to look for beer and wines that were specific to Rhode Island as we were putting together a Rhode Island themed basket for a charity. We were not familiar with which wines from Rhode Island or the store and its layout so we asked a worker where we could find Rhode Island wines. And she told us "over there go near the little bottles of wine and take a right it's probably aisle 2". So we went and found the Narraganset beer on our own even though it's not made in Rhode Island anymore, it's associated with the Rhode Island in our minds. So then we looked for aisle 2 but I did not see numbers on the aisles so it made it a little more difficult. There may very well be numbers on the ends of the aisles but if they're l that difficult to see then they are not effective. So we tried to use the land mark of the small bottles of wine at the end and it's a liquor store so it was pretty much filled with bottles of wine so that didn't help either. Eventually we found some wines on our own and made our choices. We went up to the register and I asked the cashier if there was indeed a Rhode Island section. She told us to hold on so she could ask the manager. He came out from behind some door and said "Oh yeah, go look a couple of aisles down and you'll find it." I think there were maybe 2 or 3 other people in the store. There were 2 cashiers, a manager and at least one person working the floor and yet not 1 of them offered to help us. I used to travel to Yankee Spirits to get my wine. Now that I have Wines and More in Cranston, I get the great deals I got there in much less time. I'm not a beer drinker but if I were I can't imagine a beer that they don't carry. Of course they have all the regulars, but many more unusual beers to sample. Me, I prefer wine and they have everything from boxed ( which is actually pretty good; at least the Black Box is) to two for one specials to very expensive fine wines. They offer a 20% discount on regularly priced half cases (6 bottles), and they have a reward card which when filled is good for 25% off a regularly priced bottle. I usually save these up to get good deals on Christmas presents. They also offer wine and beer tastings periodically. I am definitely planning to get to one. Hope to see you there! read more

They have a very good craft selection, it is the same breweries you are going to find in other stores (except Apponaug, which is a mile or so away, so kudos there), but often some of the more unusual beers those breweries make. Very good selection of mix-a-six cans, and the prices for these cans are reasonable. Very few other stores in RI I can say that about. I'm not someone who needs help looking for something, and I'm also old enough now that I don't get carded, so I don't really have a yardstick to judge the staff by. read more

This is one of the best liquor stores for wine and beer in RI, no doubt. We always find something interesting and well-priced out of their vast selection, and it's always interesting because they add in new wines on top of the best-selling standards. I like that this place doesn't have the stank so many liquor stores do - it's clean and bright with well-marked sections and a helpful staff. They also do cute things like put together gift baskets you can chose from, or you can make your own. While they do carry a large assortment of liquors as well, the prices aren't the best in the area, and they don't carry some of the more eclectic spirits I like to imbibe. But as far as beer and wines, this place is fab! read more

We were running a few errands and talking about how it'd be a good night to stay in, cook a good meal, and open up a decent bottle of wine. Almost as if our conversation summoned it, a giant purple building with a sign declaring "Wines & More" appeared in front of us. We veered into the parking lot and started rummaging around inside. The wine selection is very large. I am no wine connoisseur by any stretch, but I know a crap ton off bottles when I see them. And the bottles went on and on for a long time. As per usual when selecting a bottle of wine, I let the girlfriend go at it while I made my way to the beer. I liked what I saw. My usual favorites and local offerings were laid out before me. Then I turned the corner and realized what I had been looking at was less than a quarter of the beers they had to offer. Tripels from Norway, IPAs from Scotland, a vast assortment of Belgians, and US styles from every corner of the country were right there just waiting to be brought home. I'm not sure if it was the largest selection of beer that I've ever seen, but it was certainly amongst the top 3. The entire place is spotless and spacious which automatically gives it points over the typical liquor store. Overall I really liked the place and while it isn't exactly in my neighborhood I'm sure I'll find my way back every now and then. read more

Nice beer selection, but this place always feels overpriced. I just moved back to Cranston from Denver where huge liquor stores (2-5 times the size of Wines & More) are fairly common and offer pretty much anything that is distributed in the state. I gotta say I am very happy to have Wines & More a mere 5 minute drive from my house. Large selection of craft beer. It seems everything is available as a single as well (or mix-a-six) so you can try it before you buy 4, 6, or 12 of them. They have a couple of 22 oz bomber coolers which tend to be a bit rarer out here. My concern however is with a store of this size, quality control can easily fall by the wayside. The majority of their craft offering is sitting out at room temperature which accelerates the degradation of non-pasteurized beer, especially hop-forward beers like IPAs. I'd like to see them make more of an effort to refrigerate their craft selection. If you're like me and can spend an hour at a liquor store just investigating new beers or are new to craft beer and are just looking for some lighter bodied brews to get you started, Wines & More will not disappoint. read more

Wines and More has one of the best craft beer selections in the state. If it's distributed in RI, chances are they'll have it. And if for some reason they don't, they'll get it! The craft beer manager is very friendly and more than knowledgable about all of the brews they stock. As a matter of fact, all of the employees are incredibly friendly. They offer a ton of craft beer [and wine] seminars and even have a room dedicated for such events. They usually have a calendar of the upcoming events listed on a stand when you walk in, so it's easy to take note of whats going on and when. They do seem to be about .75 cents more expensive than the little mom & pop place for 6-packs, but for the convenience of their location and the variety of their selection, I don't mind. read more

For a while Wines & More was my go-to liquor store since I lived and worked in the immediate area. Now that I moved to Providence, I still find myself there from time to time. Since it's immediately next door to Whole Foods, the location is as convenient as it gets for Whole Foods Cranston shoppers (It's a nice way to compensate for RI blue laws). Inside is a dizzing array of different wines, but the store is organized fairly well. Wine is on the right side when you walk in, spirits in the middle, and beer along the back and to the left. I've always had an easy time picking out a good well-priced wine. Prices in general are on-par for most liquor stores in the area (and I've been to quite a few). Beer selection is extensive as well, with the regular offerings from a wide variety of brewers. I wouldn't expect to find any single/limited release beers here though. The beer buyer mentioned once that they don't get the permission to buy a lot of these (as a chain, I guess?). That was a year back, but I've noticed the same pattern with their buying. Overall, it's a good, big liquor store. Just come here with the expectations of having a lot of wine/beer available to you, but not being able to find anything unique/special. They also tend to not carry some of the more esoteric liqueurs/spirits. You'll have to go elsewhere for that. read more

Since we do a lot of grocery shopping at Whole Foods, Wines & More has become our go to liquor store. The fact that they have an amazing wine and craft beer selection along with cheerful and helpful staff is a super bonus. Some reviews mention they may be on the pricier side, but I haven't really noticed. I'm pleased when my favorite wines go on sale or we can find a fun craft beer! And since we pass by usually a few times a week it saves us from taking a trip out of our way. Never going back. I've been a regular since they opened years ago. Last night I went in with my girlfriend who is also a regular and when she got to the register she realized she didn't have her ID on her. As I approached the register the cashier asked if we were together and I said yes assuming he was going to ring us up together. Instead he said "I can't sell that to you" (the 6 pack of beer I was holding). Then two other employees stepped up like we were criminals or trying to pull some fast one on them. They gave me the whole "law this-law-that" spiel. I get it, fine mistakes happen, laws exists, but when you're a regular and clearly a simple mistake happened you don't treat customers with disrespect and act as though they're doing something criminal. The best selection of beer I've seen- they have St. Bernardus!! Celebrator! Ayinger! Oh my! Best part? You can buy singles to try out new beer! No need to commit to a 6pk of a beer you haven't tasted... U can pick & choose one of each & discover new beer without the commitment. Bonus: they have a frequent buyers card. Oh Wines & More how I've missed you! Since moving a few years back, Wines & More is a bit out of the way for me now but my love for this place has not diminished. Living closer to the state line, I tend to just take advantage of the cheaper prices in Mass but if I find myself in Cranston I still enjoy stopping in. They offer a great selection and the employees are really friendly and helpful (I have always had pleasant cashiers too). I also appreciate the layout and organization of the place. Not only do they have a great variety of alcoholic goodness but they always have basically anything else you could possibly need; party cups, juices, sodas, ping pong balls, etc. They also offer classes and many other tasting events. You can tell the owners go out of their way to offer everything they can to the customers in attempt to outweigh their slightly higher prices, and I must say, it works for me. One HUGE plus are the gift baskets they sell in store and also make to order. They also offer many other gift items. Over the holidays you can stop in and just pick one up (the perfect last minute gift idea). Wines & More is certainly one of the better liquor stores in the area. read more

First thing's first: I'm what some would call a "craftie". Craft beer runs through my veins, fills my dreams at night, and inspires me to venture out to new bars and restaurants in search of new flavors, styles and brands. Some would call that an obsession, but I call it a passion, and for a passionate beer fan, this place is a paradise. Wines and More has just an unfair amount of craft beers, a huge refrigerated section and an extensive collection of wines as well. But back to the beers again for a second -- I'm really impressed by the number of limited and special edition beer varieties that are regularly on the shelves. I just picked up limited edition styles of Red Hook, Widmer Brothers, and Long Trail, for example. I didn't even know they existed before my last visit! Sadly though, I'm a Bostonian, and Cranston is a bit of a hike from my Beantown apartment. However, I'm going to continue going out of my way every time I'm down in RI to visit friends and family to stock up on as many make-your-own six packs and limited editions of awesome craft beer as my budget allows. read more

Why Wines & More should get 5 stars: If you are a beer connoisseur like my husband, you will very much appreciate the wide variety of micro brews and other craft beers available. The selection is huge, and they allow you to make your own six packs with whatever combination of beers tickles your fancy. For my beer-lovin' hubby, this place is his Graceland. Why it should get 4 stars: I'm a simple girl: I want to run into a liquor store, grab what I need, and bail. Wines & More does not lend itself well to a quick stop - for some this is a good thing as the selection is expansive, however for someone like me (and I assumed I'm not alone on this) it can be quite overwhelming. This really comes down to a matter of preference, and I much prefer smaller, specialized locations. I wouldn't hold this against Wines & More, especially since I frequent this place because of the beer selection for my husband - it's just not for me. This place is huge! I would say almost comparable to Yankee spirits in size but not quite the selection in wine. However you could spend all day in the mix a 6 aisles, that's right plural. So many beers to try! This trip I checked out the seasonal walk in cooler, pretty great stuff. I believe there is another walk in somewhere but didn't try to find it. I agree with both the positives and negatives stated in several of the other reviews. Wines & More has an exceptional beer and very good wine selection. The store is clean, well lit and well organized. They also have many types of hard liquor but I did notice that they were out of stock on some of the high end brands such as Don Julio tequila. What some other Yelpers have noticed, as well as I, is that many of the cashiers need a crash course in customer service. Some never smile; some seldom smile. I have never found any of them to be rude but nor have they been overly friendly. The people who work the floor, however, have always been helpful and nice. Also as Marybeth B noted, you have to make sure they add in your discount. I know someone else who shared her experience of not having a discount applied. Prices are a bit high but seem in line with the other RI liquor stores. So a very good place to buy your wine, beer and hard liquors but also a place with an important area that needs improvement. read more

Today my friends and I went into Wines & More in Cranston, as we were cashing out, I simply asked the cashier for a bag or something to put the bottles in, they were already in my carriage as I was prepared to bag them myself, the cashier then waited a few seconds WITHOUT grabbing a bag or anything and says "Usually helps if you put the bottles back on the counter" struck me as rude coming from an employee, then as I put them back on the counter, the cashier shook his head in disgust for why I'm not sure. Cashier never asked us if we had a "cheers card" never told us to have a great day. Had an attitude the rest of the experience. I decided to call the store and ask to speak to a manager, since working in customer service I know that's no way to speak to a customer especially ones that just spent quite some money at your establishment, as I was explaining to the manager, my friend was laughing about something completely different, the manager took it as a joke apparently and made a snarky comment which I responded clearly you have an attitude problem as well, which the manager then hung up on me. I don't recommend this store to ANYONE as they seem to think they don't have to treat their customers with respect, and I will NEVER return to this store. Not even one star should be given, my husband and I went in there (I'm 7months pregnant) picking up my mother in laws favorite seltzers, my husband left his wallet at home so he did not have an ID (were both 28 years old) which is understandable we both needed it to purchase, as we were walking out the employee said "go back to jersey Asshole". I personally like this place alot because of it's location (right near my work, I mean walking distance). There's a huge selection of beers and their mix-and-match 6-pack and get 10% off is a pretty good deal if you're like me who like to sample all kinds of different beers. Another great thing about this is that they offer a consistent amount of beer and wine seminars every month. The seminars about an hour to 1.5 hrs. They are educational and insightful about their particular craft, either be it wine or beer. Pretty much by the end of it, it always end in applause, free swag and everyone leaving with a good buzz. I love this liquor store for a few reasons. I find the selection of wine is very impressive and categorized quite well. Every time I stop in I buy a different kind to try. Also, lets talk about the extensive array of craft beer selection. Without Wines and More I would never have discovered one of my favorite beers in the entire world. They also allow you to mix a 6 pack. There is nothing worse than buying a 6 pack to try and finding out the beer is absolutely disgusting. This allows you to really try out a wide range of beers without having to commit to just one (and 6 of them). Wines and More also offers free seminars to the public. My husband and I recently attended the Southern Tier beer seminar where a representative came to talk about the brewery and let you sample the beers.
