Bad, bad attitude.
So it is a local joint for sure. The beer is wet and they have a full bar. The food is okay. So, if you are riding solo or with one, and I do mean only one additional in your party, you are probably okay to go here.
Now, for my real view and experience. We were there for a friends gathering. He had recently moved out of town and was back for a brief stay. He had enjoyed this place in the past, so we decided to give it a whirl, about 15 of us. You would think if you are a wait person, this is great. 15 folks all in a tight place, getting the drinks. But no, you still need to make it to the bar, which ran into bad attitude number one. It is tough drawing a beer from the tap, I get it. But this one really went out of her way to make sure you were not happy. On two occasion I was told I would have to wait, in which case she forgot my order. Then on another occasion, stacking glasses took priority.
So we all sat to eat. We needed to be a three different tables because they were not able to move other tables together. So three round tables. Then, 15 minutes, yes I timed her, to bring two beers, an apple juice and a soda water. The meals finally arrived and like I said, the food was okay.
So time for the bills. Now, all of you restaurant folks are going to say, "that is just the way it has to be," but it still does not make it right and it screws the wait staff. What am I on about, well, the bill. She took three different orders on three different slips. One for each table. But she could only bring one bill. Why? Well, my table had 5 so it did not reach the minimum to automatically add the 18% service charge. One of the other tables, 4 people, so same issue. Last table, 6. Now is that our fault, no, it is what their tables allowed. But we manager to all get on one bill with the 18% added in.
So how does this screw people over? Well, for a tip of roughly $40.00 which she received, you would expect someone to be there, oh i don't know, waiting on you. Instead, drinks, order, food, bill. So in this case, had the 18% not been added, she would have been good for 5% - 10% max. On the other hand, had she been happy with her job and not running around saying, it is the rule, I have to put it all on one bill, which she did not, she could have made a killing. 15 people which probably would have dropped $10.00 a person on a tip. We had been drinking after all. She could have made a killing.
But no. And I for one will never go back. For the management, if your food is mid level BBQ at best, put some happy servers in there with a little bit of personality. read more
