Went to Revolution specifically on a cold night for the French onion soup. When ordering our waitress apologized saying they didn't have that on the menu tonight. She was specific in saying they weren't out, it just wasn't made today. We were so disappointed and ordered our meal, only to see a piping hot crock of the French onion soup go by our table, to another table. We quickly flagged our waitress and explained there is actually the soup. Awkward moment. Once we got the soup we were so happy that we had corrected the waitress by bringing it to her attention, because it was delicious! So worth the cold walk to the restaurant. Cheesy rich beef flavor. We also ordered the meatloaf which as also amazing, and a burger and fries, which was slightly disappointing. The fries similar to the frozen ones you'd heat up at home. Burger was nothing special. But that French onion soup was outstanding and worth the trip. read more

An interesting experience, certainly. When we walked in, the first thing I noticed were people dressed in revolutionary garb - the red coats, the puffy shirts, the weird hats. I'm still not sure what the 250th anniversary of the Rangers means, but I suppose that was the occasion. As such, they had a raffle going for (predominately) raw meat. It was so strange. People would walk away with three raw chicken breasts...and you have to wonder how long they were sitting out on the table? Maybe there's something I don't know. For food...I have to say I was surprised by how expensive everything was. When I visit a place that looks like a pub and auctions off raw meat on a table, I would guess that the sandwiches are less than $18. Not so. In any event, the server was nice and I got a harvest grain bowl with pork belly added ($24) and it was very good. My suggestion would be to cook the kale because raw kale is ROUGH. That was my only complaint. The pork belly, although essentially glorified bacon bits, was delicious. Oh yes, and for drinks I hoped they could give me a half pour of Guinness since there's no way I could drink an entire glass, but they don't do that. Great location, service was very good. front bar area looked full, sort of quiet in the back dining. Good drinks and $4 Narragansett drafts. No specials were mentioned and from looking at the menu couldn't determine what their signature items are at Revolutions. French dip was very good, thought the cut was more like a pot roast. Excellent. Chicken marsala. was more of a brown sauce, a little salty couldn't taste the marsala wine. excellent mashed and veggie of the day, which was cauliflower. Our server Jackie was excellent. Overall, good food, decent value and a nice restaurant in a great location. May come back to sit at the bar. read more

Big fan of this spot. We've yet to have a bad meal or bad service. Both sitting at the bar and in the restaurant offers the same quality.

Very solid meal there on a semi busy Wednesday night. My salad was fresh and delicious. The onion soup needed way more flavor and the onions need to be caramelized-zero flavor. Grits were cold. Short rib was dry. Service was rough. I think there was only one waitress on and she was feeling it. She could've made a lot more money on drinks if she came back to our table. Could've been a lot better had the service been up to par and those couple of tweaks of the food were made. read more

I have enjoyed the food here for months. The service is great as the wait staff is pleasant and attentive. The menu is not extensive but I guarantee there is something for everyone! The burgers and sandwiches are delicious and come with a choice of shoestring fries or a side salad. The dinners are for for a king or queen. The portion size is on the large side which makes for a second helping the next day. The mashed potatoes are the best! No other restaurant can compare! Try them!! You won't be sorry. read more

Incredibly grateful for the warm hospitality and delicious food at Revolution! Our server was attentive and freindly and provided us with excellent guidance on the kids menu. Everyone at the table was thrilled with their meal. As we were dining with family we hadn't seen in a long time, we definitely took longer then we should have on a busy Saturday night, however at no point we're we made to feel rushed. Service was fine. I ordered the veggie pizza. It tasted like the veggies had first been cooked in a pan or on a cooktop that had recently cooked fish (I'd guess salmon). Also who puts zucchini on a pizza? It's 90 percent water, so the whole thing was incredibly soggy. It also had no seasoning and way too much cheese. My friend ordered a burger medium well and it was well-done. Not in the good way. The fries were good. If I went back it would be to sit outside, enjoy a drink and maybe split an appetizer. My husband and I have tried this place several times. You can tell who the regulars are because they get treated well, where regular customers don't. Every single time we've eaten here one of us have gotten just a tinge of something, whether it be diarrhea, vomiting or an upset stomach. Not sure why, the food always tastes okay but perhaps their food handling policies and practices aren't what they should be. I've always witnessed the owner be rude to customers and myself more than once. It's a shame because it's a cute place and we live down the street, it's sadly just not worth the rudeness or the upset stomachs. read more

Went there yesterday for take out. So ambiance I can't speak to but the inside of the restaurant is clean and looks nice from the front counter. We order wings which where perfect. Ordered George's chicken sand which with " extremely well done chicken" and a Berube burger. The berube burger was perfect. The chicken was not well done but still a good sandwich and they refunded my money for the chicken sandwich. We will definitely be back. read more

We ordered apps that either never came or came after our entree's were finished. Had to remind the waitress several times about drinks and other items we ordered. We celebrated my mom's birthday at Revolution for lunch today (a Saturday) - our first time there and our first igloo experience. It was an enjoyable time, from the hard-working friendly server to the food (Portuguese littleneck clams, blackened salmon with very good skin-on mashed potatoes, and a Beyond burger). We haven't been to a restaurant since outdoor dining in the fall until now and the igloo experience was awesome. We felt super covid safe and really enjoyed the whole experience. It was cold and starting to snow but we felt very comfortable temperature wise in the igloo. The drinks, salmon, ravioli and desserts were all delicious. I wish they had a cocktail/drink menu but other than that no complaints. Great experience, highly recommend! read more

Two stars is generous but the service was good. Everything was just so joylessly mediocre. Cocktails too sweet, draft beer was nearly room temperature, my wife's medium rare steak came out basically raw, and after being sent back came out well done. It's a shame because it's a cute spot and takes up a lot of real estate in an otherwise lovely area. The ahi tuna was okay I guess but it's pretty hard to mess up raw fish. read more

We keep trying to like this place,, but sadly, it is a no go. A few weeks ago we tried again. I ordered salmon and the fish was so salty I had to send it back. It took forever to get another plate. Meanwhile my husband finished his dinner and sat there while I ate. It was a terrible way to spend an evening. Not only that, but the salmon tasted really fishy, like it was frozen or not fresh. We've been going to Revolution for years but it seems it's starting to really go downhill the last year. We just ordered carry out, 3 meals and 3 desserts: My brother got a Yacht Club Burger- the only decent meal. The salmon entree was not the best, the grits were so thick and pasty and the mango slime on top was a horrible combo- the old salmon entree was much better. The Deans Fatboy Salad was okay, but they gave us 3 different kinds of dressing (1 ramikan each) but 1 is not enough for the whole salad. We had to just use our own dressing at home Then the desserts, what a disappointment! We got 2 peach cobblers and a key lime pie. For the peach cobblers, they literally gave use 3-4 slivers of peach each, the topping is like cornflakes and the crust was a flavorless bread. That was like a 3$ serving, same size as you'd get for a TV dinner! The key lime pie was also super tiny! Can't believe we paid 7-8$ for each dessert. They were like tastings sizes. Definitely do not get dessert here. Something must have changed because their food used to be good! They used to have a mac and cheese app that was killer with gorganzola. Now if you get the fried chicken with maple mac and cheese- there's like no cheese, it's like a bland, runny milk sauce. The chicken isn't seasoned and it's dry. They used to have an awesome pear salad that was so fresh and delicious- now they have a salad selection that isn't worth looking at. I hope they turn it around, bummed out we had such a mediocre experience at a place we once called one of our favorites. read more

I've got mixed feelings about this place. My experience here was not the best, although I was pretty impressed with the food. I went with my friends for trivia night, because they were hosting a double points night as part of a big tournament. If you're a place that's going to host a busy event like this... be prepared! They were totally NOT. The trivia host was unable to wire into the house sound system, and the acoustics in here were so bad that she was inaudible from our table. To make matters worse, there was a speaker RIGHT ABOVE our table that was playing OTHER MUSIC. We looked around and saw no other speakers in the entire place and were totally puzzled. We asked TWICE for the speaker to be turned off and our request was ignored by management even after our waitress asked them for us several times. Our waitress offered to move us to another table just in time for the music round, which was appreciated, but at that point it was a bit too late. We put down several incorrect answers because we did not hear the questions correctly in the first few rounds. We ended up getting no points towards the tournament, and I was pretty sour about it because we kind of went out of our way to come here and got nothing out of it. However, the food was REALLY good and was almost (but not really) enough for me to forgive them for the crappy trivia experience. I had the sweet & spicy plum glazed wings, which were really delicious and juicy. The sauce was more of a sweet & sour than a sweet & spicy though, but maybe that's just my palette. I also got an order of their sweet potato fries, which were out of this world and had just the right amount of sea salt sprinkled on them. My boyfriend got the clamcakes and chowder, which he really enjoyed. The chowder had tons of clams and the broth was tasty. Our table also split two different flatbread pizzas, which were amazing. The toppings and seasonings on both were just right, and the crust was delicious and crispy. I would totally go back again just for the pizzas. We also shared a peanut butter pie for dessert, and loved it. They only offered us a wine list; no beer list or cocktail menu. The wine list was really pricey (the cheapest glass being $8 -- ouch), so we were scared to order any drinks at all and stuck with soda and water. The water glasses they gave us were way too small, and I felt bad for the busboy that had to keep coming by to refill us. Our server was a total sweetheart though, and did her best to make our evening enjoyable. I really appreciated her being so nice when I was in such a sour mood. I do agree with other Yelpers that this place has a bit of an identity crisis. The pub area was great, and I would have liked the place more if the rest of the atmosphere was like that. The dining room was weird; kind of a bistro, kind of Italian-y, kind of diner-y -- I couldn't really tell what they were going for. If I'm in the area I will totally go back, because the food was fabulous. But dear god I will NEVER go out of my way for a trivia night here ever again, double points or not! read more

I love this place. The drinks (as mentioned in previous review) are great. The food is always delicious -- and that's never an easy task. The half-baked chicken wings are my favorite -- soooo goood. But the burgers are delicious, the pizza (chicken pesto) is nearly perfect by my book (we ask for it well done). But even the fancy stuff (steaks, fish, pasta) is always a hit. Also, not too expensive. Near the waterfall. Some outdoor seats. Only bad part is the bands -- arrgh, I even made a bet that the band's first song would be the dreaded "Horse With No Name" and sadly won. But don't let that deter you. The place is good. We wanted to try something new so for our anniversary we decided to come here. Arrived early, seated promptly, server took our drink order and we ordered the calamari appetizer. Which was very good. Server took the plate away before we finished it. We ordered our main course (a burger for him, veal chop for me) and I asked for the wine list, he said he'd be right back. It took so long that I went up to the front to look at the list myself. It wasn't extremely busy so it should have been easy to just grab the list and bring it to our table. He finally brought the list, I ordered a glass and our meals came shortly after. Portions were very generous and the flavors were excellent. I was pleased with the details and plating of everything. One of our favorite places to eat in Cranston. It's casual and relaxed, but with really, really decent food. I won't lie, some nights the food is AMAZING, and other nights it's just good. But it's NEVER bad. It depends on what you order + who is working that night. And it's not that a good night isn't good, it's just that the food is SO GREAT on an amazing night, that sometimes you can tell a bit of a difference. Personally, I think that's a pretty decent problem for a restaurant to have. With that said, there are many menu items that I consistently order and are always freaking delicious. The blackened salmon is always yummy. They cook it so it gets a nice, blackened crust that just takes the salmon to another level. The cast-iron mac and cheese is always sinfully good, and the chocolate chip cookie in a cast-iron skillet is probably one of the best things on this planet. They rotate menu items seasonally, and I always appreciate their dinner specials -- if you are a seafood lover, get the Fra Diavalo if it's ever offered. It's so good! read more

I've been to revolution a handful of times. Every-time I've been the food, service, and atmosphere has been perfect. The bartenders make a great drink, the food is always hot, tasty and quick, and it's just a fun place to hang out. Tonight I opted to sit at the outside bar with a friend, we hung out until around closing time. About 30 minutes before closing, a gentleman walks up sits at the bar, is greeted by the bartender and says "oh what should I have." As my friend and I are having mudslides I jokingly say "Hey have a mudslide, live a little, let your hair down." This man had the most offended look on his face, repeats back to me "let my hair down?", stares at me and sits down. He then proceeds to tell the 3 other people at the bar some story of singing songs in a club in New York City. Upon finishing the story he says "...and yeah that's my fifteen minutes of fame" not acknowledging him, he looks at me and says "I guess he's not Impressed." Trying to make light of the situation after having been confronted by this man now twice I jokingly said "No I'm sorry I'm not, but what other stories do you have?" Immediately offended. "Well what's your story, what's your 15 minutes of fame?" He says. Again trying to joke I said " well I haven't had mine yet I've got a few years to go." He looks at the other two patrons at the bar and says "yeah whatever, I've impressed plenty of people that are way more important that someone like you" He then offers to buy myself and my friend a drink, we respectfully decline, pay our bill and make our way out. Something told me he was a little too comfortable with how he was talking. A quick google search turns up he's the owner of the bar. Great business practice having the owner become confrontational with one of the only 3 people sitting at his bar. His LinkedIn profile says "take care of the guest and everything else will take care of itself" Dean, you couldn't even do that. read more

It definitely fits the vibe of Pawtuxet Village with a bar, live music sometimes, dining room, and seats on the sidewalk. I highly suggest the penne al vodka or the BLT. There are a lot of regulars in the place and the bar gets packed pretty quickly and on a Friday night it's almost impossible to get a seat. This is the quintessential neighborhood restaurant with a casual ambience. I have been here many times dating back to when it was L'attitudes. On this visit I was in a group of 6 so we were able to make a reservation. When we arrived we were seated right away. I had the chefs blt which was delicious and my husband had the fra diavlo which he enjoyed. There are a couple of reasons why I cannot give this visit a better review. The first is one of our party ordered the chicken jambalaya, she likes spicy food but this was way too hot, basically inedible. She asked for more bread and water because her mouth was on fire. A couple of other people tasted it and made her send it back. Only 10% of the entree was gone. The waitress said she would take it off the bill but told us we couldn't take it home. I actually thought she was joking. I totally understand that sometimes people order something and while it is made exactly as it should be, they just don't like it. This was different, there is no way that dish was meant to be that hot. I really would have hope that maybe the chef would come out and say something, or offer her something else to eat. Honestly, if he or she had tried it he would have known it was a mistake. read more

I have been here about 8 times in the past 5 years. The food has always been mediocre with occasional flashes of greatness on their menu. This was not one of those nights. It's not a place I normally think of but a friend had a gift certificate, so we decided to go. We were greeted warmly when we arrived. It was pretty empty, but it was only 5 pm on a Tuesday. The bar had more people around it, enjoying the end of the work day. The walls are painted a warm brick color and the pictures create a welcoming atmosphere. However, they need to replace the horrible oilcloth or plastic tablecloths and replace the badly stained and dark rug. It would go a long way in finishing that warm Mediterranean feel they are going for. We started with complementary onion focaccia bread, with a oil mix made of balsamic vinaigrette, goat cheese(?), re pepper flakes. It was served awkwardly in a small soup cup with a big spoon to get it out. It was too tart for me, but the bread was good. This time I stepped away from the basic menu and decided to go with one of the specials. I had the baked shrimp and andouille sausage with broccoli rabe, banana peppers and chopped tomatoes over penne or rigatoni pasta with provolone cheese. It came out looking very good. It had a good flavor, there were 5 big shrimp on top covered with the cheese, but there were WAY too many banana peppers and the broccoli rabe was not cooked enough so was impossible to cut (it was served in long pieces) or chew. The andouille sausage was good and was complemented by the light tomato sauce. However, I did not think it was worth $17. It also came without anything and a side salad costs $6. Not worth it. They should look at dinner salads if they want people to not order burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. My friend had the penne ala vodka and said it was pretty good. She lives in the village and only comes in occasionally as it can get loud at night at the bar. I do expect to pay more in the village and don't mind, but I want it to be good. Some of their specials range $16-23. That's fine, but I do have a problem when a dish costs that and no sides are offered. The mahi-mahi which is grilled , comes with roasted corn salsa. Period per the server. I agree with another reviewer- it does suffer from an identity crisis. Are you a bistro? A local bar with bar food? Upscale dining? The prices reflect the latter, but the atmosphere and food quality reflect the first 2 . I am going to treat it as a local bar/bistro and stick to those foods. The burgers are fine and the calamari is good. But there are numerous places with those foods, so I don't think I'll be back for a long time. What a shame. read more

Yelp was very useful in helping us find a new restaurant to try. I used it to decide whether or not to buy the Groupon, to get directions to the restaurant, and to see what event was scheduled for tonight. It was good to know that there would be live entertainment this evening. The music was good (and loud) but knowing beforehand helped us pick a table further back in the restaurant where we could enjoy the show at a safe distance. This was our first visit and we definitely want to come again. We were warmly greeted by the hostess, Christine and after a short wait we were seated and served by Patty (THESE LADIES ARE GREAT). Okay, for my pros and cons: Pros: -warm and very attentive service (thank you again, Patty) -very accommodating to our diet needs/special requests -everything on the table was clean (I didn't see any critters like a previous Yelper, but we weren't seated by a wall either) -the band was actually really good. They performed a variety of genres and I tapped my feet all night long -our food was very tasty and well cooked -they were busy - every table and every space around the bar was full - this is a good thing Cons: -they were out of two items from the appetizer section and out of the cupcake meatloaf...on a Friday night...like, that should not happen -the music was a bit loud, but this a minor complaint. I love live music! Overall, we really had a good dining experience. I think if you come with the expectation of enjoying a nice, no frills evening out at a local establishment you'll like it too. read more

We were so excited to try this place out, but everything about it was disappointing. There weren't many people there, but it continued to take our server 10+ minutes to bring us anything - including just a napkin. The food was absolutely awful and overpriced. Everything tasted super processed and under seasoned. The clam chowder was watery. The ravioli was three pieces drowned in what appeared to be an entire jar of sauce. My husband and I went out (for the first time in over a year) for Valentine's Day. We hadn't been before, but had heard good thing. This may be out new favorite place. The drinks were amazing! I had an appletini. Yum! The fried dill pickle chips ere fantastic! The Sriracha sauce was a great pairing. I ordered the Cajan Gumbo with shrimp. It was filling and yummy. But my husband ordered the chicken and macaroni. OMG! So good! We are going back so I can have that. In short, make a reservation for R'evolution! You will not regret it. read more
