Let me start off by saying compliments to whoever the chef is. Food was the best Cuban food you'll ever have but upon walking in, we noticed this place was super quiet maybe four people were in there meanwhile directly across the street. The Greek restaurant was Poppin. We were going to leave, but since our other two friends really wanted to go here we stayed . Out waiter sucked. The service was beyond horrible. They don't even care about allergies here some people could die from allergies and they will tell you the ingredient isn't in the actual food when it is, that's so wrong on so many levels, everyone ordered drinks when it was my turn. I ordered a bottle of water instead of bringing me the bottle of water. The server came and poured everyone waters. No one asked for a bottle of water but me. None of our food came out together. Everything came out one at a time so while waiting for the other peoples food, my food was getting cold and vice versa. They had not even given us the desserts we ordered, but handed us the check, not only should you not give the check out before people are done eating .... But when you see a table filled with girls and one man you're supposed to give the check to the man not one of the females !?!?! Who trains these people ?? The best part is they added a 20% gratuity automatically to a table of 4 .... No thank you I wouldn't go back here cause lack of service and no respect for food, allergies. When we first entered, we were greeted by an amazing hostess, who sat us promptly. When our table needed to be changed our server, Sebastian, was more than accommodating. He took our order promptly and made sure that our courses were spaced out perfectly, so we didn't feel rushed. When something was forgotten in my meal when I had told him not to worry about it, he made sure that he not only got us the missing ingredient, but gave adjusted the check. I was excited to come to this location since I had been to the one in LI and had a great experience. I can't say the same for the bayside location. My friend and I sat outdoors and ordered a pitcher and appetizer to begin. We decided to move to the bar instead because of happy hour. We informed the server we were going to move and if it was ok to cancel the order of the pitcher and she said it was fine. As we were at the bar the manager approached us in a very rude way! Saying "so you ordered a pitcher and decided to move to the bar because of happy hour? WOW". It just felt so off and her energy was just terrible. I was embarrassed as to we were the only ones at the bar. And I honestly felt targeted. She then said we made her waste a pitcher and we told her if it was such a problem we would take it. It was just a back and forth. Regardless the communication issue was on the staff although our server was nice! I've never experienced anything like it. This manager is driving your customers away. I've been to The Cuban in Garden City and thought the food was very bland. So I was pleasantly surprised when I came to the Bayside location and the food was absolutely delicious. The guacamole was fresh and a big portion. Our drinks (mojito and sangria) were both refreshing and had the right amount of alcohol. The seafood paella is a great portion for 2 people to share. This spot is great for Margaritas. It has outdoor dining, and the servers wear a cute uniform, they're very presentable and friendly. I ordered a sugar-free mojito and they served it, that's something that made me happy since I don't like sugary and sweet drinks. There is only one thing ...YOU HAVE TO WAIT. Let me preface by the fact that I have been to Cuba and my mother lived in Miami Beach for ages and we often took vacations there so I feel confident with my knowledge of Cuban food. The food here was not that. Canned beans and flavorless. The yuca fries are packaged frozen and the sauce that accompanies supposedly mojo was bad. The croquetas cold in the middle and also the sauce that accompanied them was awful. The ropa vieja was good and the palomilla was good but the rice that came with them tasted old. Service was also not good. The server thought I had ordered things I had never ordered, perhaps the masks caused the miscommunication. The empanadas, which you could mix and match, were delicious and well seasoned. We also got the pollo soffits and pollo al skills. Both were so juicy!! Food was good but service is really bad. I called on March 6, 2021 at 5 PM to make a reservation at 6:30 PM for a table for 3 and the person over the phone said they do not take any reservations. I came in at 6:30 PM and the hostess told me to wait while she attended a family of 6 who called for a reservation. (I thought they didn't take reservations). Anyways, I put my name and phone number down and told me it was going to be a 45 minute wait. My friends and I go to near by bar for a drink to wait and in 5 minutes they said my table was ready. As soon as we were ready to pay, the hostess calls and says in a b****y tone "you need to get here in 4 minutes, if you don't then we are going to give your table away." We got there when we got there, cause no one is going to be rude to me. We finally get there and she proceeds to say "I thought you guys were not coming".... I honestly don't understand her rudeness, like relax its just a restaurant. Then she puts us upstairs where there was so much noise because a wedding singer who couldn't sing was singing for the whole time we were there. The hostess never asked us if we wanted to be seated with a the wedding singer. Please fire the hostess and keep her in check, she has 0 customer service experience. -300/10. And stop with the singing upstairs, it was super uncomfortable cause it was legit old ladies hitting on the wedding singer and you can see people were rolling their eyes is disgust. -20/10. This is absolutely the place to be for a lovely night out !! On weekends they have a live band which kicks up the atmosphere a notch !! The food is soooooooooo good and you get a lot too !! You feel like you're at home when you step in because the staff is incredibly friendly too. I just had a happy hour at The Cuban on Bell Blvd. The happy hour food and the red sangria was delicious. The music played is top notch Latino music. Unfortunately we witnessed KAREN incident at the bar. An entitled KAREN ordered a pork meal and WITHOUT EVEN TAKING A BITE CALLED THE MANAGER AND COMPLAINED ABOUT HER MEAL. Needless to say the management here was over the top polite and professional and took care of the issue in a swift and professional manner following the credo the customer is always right EVEN WHEN THEY WERE 100% WRONG! To start off, there is guacamole on their menu and if you ask me... that isn't a Cuban dish. Should be taken off completely. We ordered Yuca fries which were not good as if they were frozen and their garlic sauce tasted as if it was just warmed up, pre-packed. I ordered their Vaca Frita which was good BUT I wouldn't die over it, it was just alright. My boyfriend ordered their steak which was also good but he definitely had a better steak elsewhere. Being Cuban myself, I can definitely say there are much better Cuban and authentic restaurants in Queens. The music was also super loud, i felt like we were at night club at one point. The manager at the door downstairs was slightly rude when we showed up late to our reservation. I called way before to let them know that we were unaware of the street festival going on which really held us up driving in circles. We finally parked in a metered lot and walked a few blocks over. Overall we had a nice experience. Our waitress was kind and attentive. I was disappointed when she told us they had no bread as I love their bread. We all enjoyed our meals.
