As a native New Yorker now living in California, the first thing I do when I visit friends back east is head for the bagels and pizza. Friends brought me to Spin Bagel, and for that I am gastronomically thankful, for as good as New York bagels in general taste to me, the bagels at Spin Bagel have a "spin" on them that cannot be beat: clean, high-quality ingredients that enhance the taste as well as nourish the body, and a lightness to them that allows you to eat the whole bagel without feeling that heavy lump in the stomach one can get from the standard, doughier bagel. When I asked the owners what their secret is, I was told that it's the fermentation process that's unique. They also offer an array of meats and others bagel toppings that don't contain any nitrates/nitrites, artificial flavors, or preservatives. No seed oils are used. The atmosphere is super nice too - décor is charming, but it's the service that stands out. Our server was Angelina, who is charming and friendly, and moves like the wind. I'm a Native New Yorker, so bagels in the morning have been a staple in my life since Jr. Highschool. These bagels are the best bagels I've ever had. There's so much variety and the specialty bagels are *chef's kiss*, AMAZING! The customer service is PHENOMENAL! Yvonne (Not sure if I spelled it correctly) is so pleasant and calls me by name when I walk through the door. The ambiance is beautiful with all the greek decorations and themes. Great local bagel spot and with everything being homemade and sourdough based, it's definitely unique. Because it is sourdough, the texture of the bagel is chewier and a bit tougher than your typical bagel. The various bagel flavors and cream cheese spread are very fun. I've tried zaatar bagel and onion focaccia. They were so flavorful and great combination. The fig cream cheese and guava cream cheese are sweet but not overwhelming. Definitely worth trying! The price is quite steep probably because of its location and labor of love for sourdough. It's a great spot if you want to treat yourself to a special bagel sandwich. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while. It's an interesting concept of sour dough bagels. The store is clean and the staff friendly. The case displayed their bagels and some interesting spreads. We ordered a plain and sesame bagel toasted with butter. I assume the bagels look slightly darker because of the sour dough. They used a lot of butter. A little too much for my daughter's taste. She liked the crunchy texture of the outside of the bagel but she had to wipe down the butter which she said made the inside soggy. She also wasn't sure they toasted it much. My husband said his was the best bagel he's had in a long time. High praise for a bagel snob. He said the outside was hot and crunchy, and the butter melted into the bagel. They also have an assortment of drinks. We only got the ice coffee which only comes in two sizes small and large. Nice addition to the neighborhood. read more

Can say enough good things about this place. Im making my way down the entire menu..a little less then half way through and every single thing has been amazing. The sandwiches are creative and extremely delicious. All original to spin and its recreating breakfast completely. The store is immaculate and everything is fresh. I was going to do a 4/10, but the 3/10 is because I thought the ham would be real thick ham not like lunch meat. So it was dry. Had potential & it was still cool, but not the best. My mom's sandwich was good! She had the blt bagel w/egg & it was full and fresh! The butter they have is like "I can't Believe it's not Butter" type of situation so it's not great, but not bad! In addition, we tried the Rosemary bagel & it was a bit too salty. We had to dust it off. As well as oily too. The ambience is cute it's a quick sit down type of situation. I'm a bagel snob and so I was incredulous when they opened. Well, I finally got around to trying their take on a simple everything bagel, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was fresh, with a lighter consistency due to the sourdough but well adapted for use as a sandwich. The crust was less thick than some other well-known places, but I think that is a positive in this case. Also, I didn't get a bloated feeling after eating it, again due to the sourdough. Today was my 2nd time at Spin Bagel. The place is clean, staff are friendly. The coffee is fine. My first trip there, I got a toasted and buttered everything bagel. This place combines two of my favorite things: sourdough + bagels and creates my new breakfast obsession! The staff is so friendly and I recently learned from one of the staff members that the owner is a dietician, which is awesome! There is an array of bagels and spreads to choose from and the sandwich options they have up on the menu are unique. You can really feel that each item has a personalized touch and a lot of thought put into it. The decor is lovely - black and white subway tiles with pops of color and natural wood tones create a bright and modern space. Went this morning and the bagels here are absolutely exceptional! They are crunchy/crusty on the outside and soft and pillowy on the inside with the perfect bite. Their menu is highly greek influenced and greek food being one of my favorite cuisines, makes this so on point for me. I also really love their concept of gut healthy bagels made with quality ingredients. It makes me feel so much better having a bagel that is not only delicious but beneficial to my body. The staff is also really lovely. I'm not sure if the lady who handed me my order is the owner/manager, but she is really a doll. The only reason for the 1-star deduction is that I ordered an everything bagel, jalapeno cheddar bagel and a 1/2lb. Of their garlic/scallion cream cheese but got a plain bagel in the bag instead of an everything. Totally fine because the plain was delicious. I also felt that the garlic/scallion cream cheese was overwhelmingly garlic-y. So I would just suggest doing a scallion cream cheese and then a separate garlic cream cheese. I stopped in to Spin Bagel one Friday around noon. I was the only customer present and was greeted by friendly staff. The selection of spreads were limited, as seen through the glass case, as were the selection of bagels. However, the bagels, being sourdough bagels, looked amazing. And they did have a few different types. I ordered a plain bagel with tuna. The bagel was amazing! I never tried a sourdough bagel before this but I could easily become a fan. The crust was perfection, much like the crust on Panera's bread bowl, which is made from sourdough bread, as well. The tuna was a bit watery, thus I took off one star from my review. I think next time I'll try something else on my bagel, even butter, which would be a great combination with that sourdough! The total was $11.89. All in all, Spin Bagel was great. I wanted to like this place because it's so close to the train station, and I loved when it was Top Bagel, but omg I've never seen people - while at their job - act so unprofessionally. I walked in and 2 of the staff was yelling at this guy. And normally, I would give the staff the benefit of the doubt bc I've worked my share of customer service, but the guy was so calm and didn't even seem that angry. The staff were looking at me and it seemed like they wanted me on their side and wanted me to berade this guy. I was not trying to fight when it wasn't even my altercation to begin with. AND on top of that, all of their bagels are sourdough. And I love sourdough bread, but these just aren't New York bagels in my opinon. read more

Popped in real quick on a Saturday morning around 9, no line so I was in and out quick. Lady at the counter was very friendly. I ordered 2 everything bagels. Price was decent at 2$ a bagel but I've learned to pay a little extra in bayside. Bagel tasted like it was covered in salt. I'm not sure what type they use but it seemed like it was rock salt. If I had a recommendation it would be to decrease the amount of salt they add to their bagels, it was almost inedible. read more

This place is excellent; a HUGE improvement over its predecessor. Friendly, hard-working staff and super-delicious, unusual speciality bagels (I had the rosemary bagel and it was superb. I'll definitely be going for the Zaatar bagel next time). I totally appreciate that they're doing something a little different and niche but one star off because c'mon, they REALLY need to have an egg bagel and cinnamon raisin bagel. We're still in Queens, not L.A. - these two bagels are absolute necessities. I stopped in to give their sourdough bagels a try since I like sourdough and I love bagels. I am extremely, extremely picky with my bagels as far as both flavor and texture. I got an everything, a poppy and a cheddar jalapeño (all with nothing on them, just plain). I tasted a slice of each and they are all fantastic! Like WOW. Crispy exterior, chewy interior, perfectly salted and not sweet at all - exactly how a fresh baked bagel should be! They also had bagels with rosemary & olive oil, za'atar, salt, garlic, plain, onion and I'm not sure what else they may have had earlier in the day as it was close to closing when I went. They were a bit busy but it moved along. I overheard one of the owners telling another customer that their cold cuts are all nitrate free etc, it's nice to have a local business that cares about quality, clean ingredients. Wanted to try Spin Bagel as they are new to the neighborhood and I've heard about how great the bagels are. I came on a weekday morning. Even after being open for a couple of weeks, it appears that Spin Bagel is still working out their process. I noticed that service and communication within the staff is definitely a glaring issue as they don't seem to be in-sync. I saw people order at BOTH the at the counter and the cashier. Customers coming in clear notice as they seemed confused whether to line up or walk towards the counter. I ordered at the counter with a gentleman and proceeded to wait on the side. After waiting several minutes and noticing customers who came in after me leave with their order, the same gentleman asked me what I ordered. He apologized and said he'll have it right up. I guess that means they missed my order the first time around. The nearby Utopia Bagels always has crowds but the dozens of times I've been, they not once missed my order. Bagel was decent but probably not come back after a bad first experience. Spin Bagel needs to step up their service if they want to retain their customers. read more

Spin Bagels has Phenomenal bagels and spreads. Every time I'm in Queens I pick up a bakers dozen to freeze and scallion garlic cream cheese (no freezing!).
