I was psyched to give this small businesses a try. Domincan is one of my favorite cuisines I had a hankering for some ox tail. The lady serving was courteous and reminded me to get extra beans for my red rice n gandules and the gentleman at the cashier was chill and friendly as well. This places popped up on my IG feed. I saved it and said if I'm in the area I'll give them a try. Well tonight we went and I can say I'm glad I did. The food was great and well seasoned. We had fried pork chop family meal. It came with rice and beans a salad and fried plantain. I also got a side of avocado. It fed my family of four very well. When it was called Dominican Restaurant #6 it was my go to for my Dominican comfort food fix. I'm happy to see that the place only got a face lift in decor and name change, however, the food remains delicious. Ordered their kiskeya sampler, the amount they gave used to be more but still a great dish of fried plantains, fried cheese and Spanish salami. Seriously how can one go wrong with that kind of trifecta. The 3 amigos mofongo app sampler again was very good. Their mofongo is very garlicky but super moist even without adding gravy to it! Sadly the ceviche was not up to par. The seafood tasted like they were first boiled and then added and the fresh veggies also tasted water logged. Service here, especially Vanessa, is always with a smile and great conversation too! The pollo chicharron is addictive! Super moist fried pieces of chicken on the bone with this amazingly intense vinegar/lime/garlic flavor. You cannot leave without ending your meal with a piece of their très leches cake! We came to Cafe Kiskeya for a private birthday dinner and had a really good time. The food was very flavorful and service was pretty decent. Food: for appetizer I had the sampler which consisted of friend plátanos with fried salami and cheese. This is a no brainer, delicious Entree: skirt steak with rice and beans. The steak was cooked to my liking, the portion was a little smaller but I'm wondering if it was due to the pre fix price. Dessert: unfortunately they only had tres leche and the portion was huge, this was fresh Overall, Cafe Kiskeya gets 5 stars from me based on the private birthday dinner. It was bland... 2nd time the oxtail, although highly recommended it was only O.K, but the upsetting part was the yellow rice and gandules that was literally made with KETCHUP. 3rd time, no complaints actually, fried tilapia was delicious and the yellow rice and gandules was not made with ketchup. First time visiting this restaurant. Nice ambience, good music, on smaller side but family friendly. We start the evening with rum punch and sampler platter!! Drinks were perfect comes out in a smaller glass but absolutely delicious. It ended up being a perfect size since the drink was well made. Not too strong and not weak either. We have no other choice but to pick up food from restaurants, therefore we decided to get lunch (we're healthcare btw, so yeah we don't stay home) we got some pernil, chicharrón, tostones, rice ... omg yeah let me tell you this place hit the spot... if you want some good Dominican food .. this is the place. I don't understand all the negative reviews on here. My husband took me and the kids to have a late lunch here earlier today and were greeted and seated right away. They have a decent sized menu. My husband and I ordered off the drink menu. He had the Kiskeya punch and I had the strawberry picante. He said his drink was perfect. They ran out of rhe jalapeño vodka for my drink but I was willing to try it with just vodka. I'm so glad I did because it tasted amazing. Perfect for a hot summer day. Onto the food... Appetizers: We ordered the chicharron, 3 cheese empanadas and the Kiskeya sample that had tostones, salami and queso frito. We were so surprised at how big the portions were and how delicious and flavorful everything tasted (the hubby and Icompared everything to our usual spanish food spot). The chicharron was beyond crispy and tastey. Our kids loved the cheese empanadas. I personally thought its better than our usual spot since it was much bigger and cheesier olus it had 2 dipping sauces with it. I loved it with the green sauce. It tasted perfect. We were planning on ordering a side of maduros but I'm glad we didn't cause the sampler was a hefty portion. Equally tastey as well. Entrees: We ordered the pernil and fries for our daughter. I had the chicharron de pollo with bone with the spanish rice and my husband had the chuletas with yuca frita. Again, huge portions! We loved our entrees. Although, my daughter didn't have any crispy skin on her pernil which is her favorite part and she was a bit bummed about it. We wanted to try the tres leches but since we didn't expect for the portions to be so big, we had absolutely no room in our bellies for it. The service was good. Our waitress was prompt and checked up on us a few times which is just how we like it. We don't like it when servers are so overbearing or when they are completely non attentive. Even though we both agreed that the food here was better than our usual spot, I gave it 4 stars because of the lack of crispy skin on the pernil and cause when we received the check, we noticed that theu automatically added a 15% service charge. We typically tio 20% - 25% when we dine out. I'm not quite sure why since there was only 4 of us and we also weren't informed that gratuity would be included so just keep an eye out for that. This review is solely based on delivery. My coworkers and I received some menus from Kiskeya. I was so happy to see a menu that didn't consist of old boring sandwiches and overpriced sad looking salads. So far I've tried the crispy pork belly, beef and chicken empanadas and the Pernil with spanish rice. 9/10 on taste. Genuine Dominican food that happens to be local, can't beat that. Unfortunately I had a chicken bone the size of my finger in the empanada but I still enjoyed it. The pernil was tasty and tender, rice was made with love. Just ordered a takeout order today and really disappointed. The pork chicharones looked like several days old, dried and tough. Oxtail was undercooked, tres leches sauce was on the verge of spoiling. I've noticed most of the negative reviews are for delivery and carry out. However, I had a different experience dining in. We came in on a Friday night when they were playing live music (the guy sings pretty good) and the place was crowded. My husband ordered the skirt steak with rice and beans and a side of sweet plantains. The skirt steak was juicy and cooked to perfection (we asked for medium). I ordered the garlic chicken mofongo and it was also very tasty. The portions here are huge! The ambiance is welcoming as the place is rather small. The staff came around many times asking if we needed everything and about the food. I hope more people give this place a chance because it's needed in this neighborhood. read more

It used to be great food with nice service. But now it almost seems as if the owner and the employees do not really care about their customers or business as a whole, and it shows in the way they treat their customers. I have only ordered pick up from this place, so I cannot speak for the actual waiter service. But the girls behind the counters are rude and not very helpful. However, I've noticed that they're quite friendly if their customer is Hispanic. Onto the food - it used to be wonderful. It would keep me coming back for more, but now it's always dry, bland, and simply too overpriced for what you get. I end up eating it and thinking to myself, "Wow, I wish I got something else with my money." That, combined with a B rating and terrible service, is why I will never return nor will I recommend this place. The only reason I'm giving it 2 instead of 1 star is because the food isn't TERRIBLE and I remember what it once was and how good it used to be. Pull it together. If you're looking for good, authentic Dominican food, I'd suggest you find another restaurant. Or just go next door to Curry & Co, as its much better. I was at this restaurant this weekend after a year they have renovated the place and looks very nice but the food has changed. everything came very fast from the kitchen which I think it was probably already cooked and the fried food like maduros chicharrón de pollo Was very dark It seems like they reuse their frying oil over and over. The pernil looked liked they cooked it in a slow cooker and not in the oven. The food had no taste. We order a bistec and it tasted liked burned. Also service lacked. Let's start off by saying this restaurant was give a B grade. Generally on Long Island restaurants are not graded. I could only assume this establishment met the criteria because of its close proximity to Queens. Never the less, I had already purchased my Groupon and was at the front door. Note to self, always check Yelp prior to purchasing a Groupon. Customer services was terrible by owner and staff. I felt as if there was a disgruntle tone through out the place. It took about 10 minutes for me to be greeted at the table and the places was empty for the most part. The appetizer were good. I order a trio of Empanadas: cheese, chicken, and beef. Beverages are served in original can or bottle (Please refer to my pictures) I order pork Mofongo that was a fail. The Mofongo did not taste fresh at all. Seemed as if it were microwaved. The chicken soup was good. My friend ordered the peppered steak. That was pretty good as well. This place has the potential to be something if they incorporated better customer service and perhaps a new chef. Oo yeah the unisex bathroom was dirty. The toilet was leaking and it appeared like someone tried to stop with paper towel and left paper towel on the floor. Lets begin with we ordered our food at 11:30am. We received our delivery about an hour and fifteen minutes later which is understandable because of the lunch rush and all the offices and hospitals in the area. However, one meal was missing which is again understandable. It is now 2pm and they still did NOT bring the food. So, not only am I waiting going on two and a half hours for a lunch plate, the people who work there were nasty about the situation as if I didn't have a reason to be frustrated. To make matters worse, our location is around the block from the restaurant. I read negative reviews and I should of known better. Clearly, they will not stay open much longer because I am not the only one who has had a negative experience. Well I got my food shortly after 2pm. It was terrible.
