This restaurant is on a busy street. Theres parking on the street but no parking lot. The sign which use to say "Justin's" is now covered but still visible; they changed the name to "Amelia's." It's a small restaurant with indoor dining with maybe about 6 tables but each time I've been it's never crowded so finding a seat would never be an issue. The restaurant doesn't appear like it's kept neat. The furniture looks worn down. I've been to this restaurant plenty of times but this last time I've been, I wasn't thrilled with the service. When I entered there was a tall Hispanic male working. He did not speak and with an attitude he asked what I wanted. I told him my order which was two small orders of baked chicken with rice. One of orders had less chicken than the other order though it was the same thing. I was with a male so he gave the male more chicken than me but I didn't care. I could've easily told him to add more since I am the customer paying or left but it wasn't a big deal since I knew I wouldn't be eating a lot. After he made our plates I asked him if he took bank cards because the last time I've been which was a few years ago, they didn't take cards. He stated they did and when he gave me my receipt I noticed there was a 50cents service fee. I asked what it was for and with an attitude [again] he said for using my card. Now had I known that I would've paid with cash because I do not believe in paying extra fees for anything. Even if I have it, I don't believe in it. Justin's is pretty decent. It's local to me so when I feel like eating Hispanic food, I head right over to Justin's. They have a variety of Hispanic food. Anything you can think of. However if you don't see anything in the buffet style layout that they have, I suggest you call ahead to order. Or just call ahead period to see what they have. Their options change daily. They also have seating. The food: I personally feel like all their stew chicken, stew beef, etc tastes the same. Just different meats. The rice is good and so are the beans. Salads are great. ( I'm a huge salad lover) Cons- They don't take cards -_- There's been times where I was feening for Hispanic food and wanted Justin's but didn't feel like going to my bank and I refuse to use an atm and pay their fees plus my fees. Today we ordered chicken empanadas, but they were burned, the filling was super dry as if they used recycled chicken (I'm sure if it! ) and the oil was old tasting. I went to this restaurant about a year ago and the food was okay just they kill you with rice and at the time the meat was dry. I live about 10 minutes away, and I have always passed by with curiosity. Something about Justin's looked appealing to me. Perhaps it was the rotisserie chickens I would see from my car window. It just had an authentic feel to me. Anyway, so about a month back, I decided to give the place a try. I loved what I saw when I came in. We got a take out order of their roasted chicken and roasted pork, as well as white rice, yellow rice, and some more dishes that I don't recall (oh yes, plantains). I loved it! My personal favorite was the pork! It was juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked! The skin was also crispy the way I love it! My biggest turn off from my plate was the fried pork. They were so stingy with the fried pork and they had enough it only the 1:14pm on a Wednesday. I probably had the least amount of protein out of everything else of the plate. Whenever I took a bite of the pork you would just get a gush of oil in your mouth...such an unappealing feeling when eating lunch. The potato salad had such a weird taste to me kinda like a sour taste in a way not that it was spoiled just a sour taste. The last thing was the portion of the plate...not being greedy but if I'm paying 7$ and plus I do expect a huge amount of food to where I can't finish it all... I mean come on this is NYC we expect filling portions at shallow prices right ? Now Called "Dora" . Just got home after a long day of work, and decided to stop by and pick up some food. When I went in, I noticed a male and female training another young lady. I love this restaurant. I always get the rotisserie half chicken with white meat with plantains and yellow rice. SO GOOD! However, when I get an order delivered, it tends to take a while and they got the order wrong more than once. So, I go in to order and it's always quick and it's always fresh. Whenever I go to Rosdale, I look forward to Justin's rotisserie chicken with plantains. If there was one by me, I would get it every week. I would highly recommend this restaurant!! It is one of my best finds. The only reason I didnt' give 5 stars is because of the delivery orders taking too long and them getting the order wrong. Also, the flan isn't very good. But I am also very critical - you might like it. Besides that.. the only other thing is, the fridge they keep their drinks in isnt' very cold.. their drinks are barely cold at all.
