Yes! That makes more sense. You were coming from Long Island, not going to Long Island. I'd word…read morethe opening like this: We're from Staten Island and were coming from Long Island, and as a Yelper, I decided to look for a Dominican restaurant with great reviews. I searched Yelp for Dominican restaurants and came across El Campeón de Los Pollos--and we were definitely not disappointed! I was especially impressed by how clean the restaurant was. The food was beautifully displayed buffet-style, and everything looked fresh and appetizing. You order and pay at the register, and they serve your food on a tray with your drink. I ordered a lunch with a drink for $16.33, which I thought was very reasonable considering how expensive everything is nowadays. The food was good, the portions were satisfying, and even the bathroom was very clean--which honestly made me happy! I would definitely come back. My only complaint is that it's a little far from me! But if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by.

It's right in front of a bus stop and next to a school. There were so many options. I settled for Combo 2, which includes 1 whole chicken, rice, beans, small salad and soda. The chicken was a bit dry and the pieces were huge. The rice and beans were really tasty, the beans had so much flavor. The salad was simple and small. I tried the Colombia coke and it was a cream soda, very refreshing with the meal. I also ordered a medium oxtail with rice and it was $14. The huge amount was pretty worth it. They didn't skimp on the oxtail. It was more on the saltier side, but still very tasty. I will come again when I'm in the neighborhood and tried their soup. Next time I might even get a small size to try a bunch of other options.

It's been years since we ate here but I'm glad we did. Drinks were good. I wasn't a fan of the beef…read moreempanadas but my husband liked them. Fried plantains were so yummy I could've just had that for a meal, but I had to save room for our dinner. We ordered spinach and cooked vegetables because of our fear of getting sick from raw veggies. The seafood paella was okay. It only had one scallop which was disappointing since that's my favorite seafood. We had plenty left over so we packed it for another meal. Our server was a little rough around the edges but he got nicer as the meal progressed. The place was empty when we arrived hut started to fill up. Noise level never got too loud.

Sample Boccadillo Platter good choice to start. Gets your belly ready to experience more delectable delights. Tostones are meant to me Shared. Large, pressed, disk-shaped. Comes with flavored Ajo in Pimenton sauce. Fried Shrimp dish is crunchy, succulent and colossal. Chicharrones de Pollo was plenty for two to share. The Arroz Amarillo and Frijoles Negro are stars on their own! Paella Mariana could use a little more love, as it needed more seasoning. The clams were a tad tough. Looked for the soccarat but none. Can't beat the regular or golden Sangrias. Overall, our family's been coming for 20+ years and we'll ALWAYS choose Cabana!

If you're looking for a chaotic dining experience....this is not the place for you…read more If you're into lackluster wait service...skip this venue. If you want bland food...DO NOT COME HERE! After an appointment in the city, the Honey casually mentions he wants to have lunch here. Apparently, he discovered this neighborhood gem years ago when he worked in Queens. Uhh excuse me sir, you certainly have been holding out on me!! We walked in and were greeted promptly by Sophia who seated us. She returned shortly with a smile and asked if we wanted drinks? This part became easy once we opened the drink menu and saw Spicy Margaritas! That happens to be our thing. We started with the octopus and steamed clams appetizers. When I tell you that both of these dishes are bursting with incredible and delicious flavors! I suggest you save some of the warm bread they provide, to soak up the sauces. I was doing my happy dance, in between bites! My Linguini Com Frutos Do Mar entree' was bursting with fresh clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari. His Bacalhau Assado, with hot olive oil and garlic? Baybeee when I tell you delicious (chef's kiss)!! Okay..yes I left him enough to take some home...after I tried a "taste" or two! We finished with Pudim Flan and cappuccino for me. The smart and sophisticated vibe...attention to detail. With the friendly professional service gives this eatery a better than Manhattan feel. I also find the decor to be lovely. There is also a full bar on the other side of the dining area, accessible through a small door. The bar does have a separate outside entrance from the street as well. Now that I've found out about this place, I'm telling everyone! There is absolutely no excuse for you to not stop by for lunch, dinner or even drinks at the bar. Thank me later.....

This is a bar restaurant with a lot of space inside with many sports on the TVs. ( 5 plus TVs ) soccer was playing everywhere. Kai was our waiter and he was very friendly and accommodating. He gave us enough time to go over the menu and put our drink order in. We ordered two coconut mojitos. For our entrees we ordered Mariscada em Salsa Verde and Lagosta com Camarao em Molho de Champagne. It was delicious and a very nice portions. The place has like a Pub feeling to it. Dark inside with plenty space at the bar to eat or just sip on a beverage. Plus extra credit for packing. They also have outside area to eat and they have a tv outside as well. They have a wide variety of food here and deserts. We had a very nice experience here.
