i've been a fan of TCS for many years. this store in particular is great. it's large, open, and bright, and the staff is really friendly. i don't come here for basic containers (they are pretty expensive and the ones that not are really crappy). i do shop here for the more obscure items. i recently bought some items for my kitchen that are just perfect but i didn't know were exactly what i needed until i saw them. great place for travel accessories, and kitchen, office and closet organization. i don't love the elfa shelving. i put it in my closet in my last place and found it to be extremely expensive and a huge pain in the ass to put up. hubby and i spent an entire day installing a 5' reach in closet. that said, if you've got the cash and need a nice, organized closet, opt for the wood finishes and the pro installation. i'll stick with particle board from lowes. bonus: they validate parking. read more

I did a bit of research before dropping in, and was surprised to discover that most of their containers are as cheap if not cheaper than the same items at Wal Mart and Target...only with more variety to choose from. The Container Store is filled with all sorts of gadgets and organization tools. Some are awesome, some silly, all fun to peruse. My objection is that I have on occasion suffered from sticker shock here. A little plastic whatchamacalit for $30? Mini filing cabinet for more than $100? Ouch. This Container Store is huge, I'll give it that! I really enjoy coming and looking at all they have to offer. Of course, I love ALL Container Stores. They are wonderful. :) I will say this one is a bit of a walk from the actual Bellevue Mall itself. If you use the sky bridge, it makes things a bit easier. I've seen rave reviews about the customer service here and I haven't quite received that myself. I came in the other day to redeem my birthday present sent to me via email. The checker asked me to type in my email address or phone number. I did this several times and neither would show up in the system. This was strange, as I had gotten the birthday gift print out from one of these emails! She seemed irritated and threw the gift in my bag and shoved it at me. She clearly wanted to get me out of the store. I opened it up to find a sticky note pad that I could have easily gotten at a dollar store. Given that she couldn't scan the item, I called the store and asked if this was the actual gift or what...? The representative also seemed irritated and abruptly said, "Yes, that's it!" Doesn't make me very excited to head back to this particular Container Store. I wish I had been treated with a bit more respect, especially with how often I buy or order from The Container Store! I couldn't contain myself when I heard they were having a 30% off sale on all of their Elfa Custom closet organizers. Now through the end of the month I think. If you don't know about Elfa, it's the most simple and effective way to organize any room in your house. The only holes you will put in your wall are the ones for the top track that holds everything in place. My master closet is a basic sliding door one about 70 inches wide. Not the fancy walk-in types. It had one rod and a shelf on top. I had so much underutilized space above and below. So my bf mapped out some options on their website customized to my needs. I decided on a design that had a top shelf for items I rarely need to get to, a top hanging rod for my shirts, a shelf below that for my jeans, and below that another rod for my skirts, dress pants what-not, and then one side for longer items like my dresses and long jackets. A total of 3 hanging rods. 5 shelves and room below for shoes. Now my once cramped closet has room for more clothes. Amazing! Oh and my handyman Man installed it for me with his new drill set he got for Xmas so I saved $$ on installation costs. Yippee! I also had about 10 inches of extra space on one side of the closet, couldn't get more shelves because the shelves start at a foot long, we'd have to saw them all to make them fit. So instead my bf installed a simple over the door hanger on the inside of the wall so I could hang all my purses. I'm totally psyched that I can see all my clothes now. I also bought 4 nice big brown folding storage boxes with leatherish covers that were on sale for $10! Sweet deal! I love this store. i will be back. I've never had a more rude retail experience as I just did at the Bellevue WA location. I can't say this for all the employees but the two women working in the custom closet dept. at 5:00 on 9/2 were downright awful. They very clearly did not want to be approached, let alone answer any questions. One of the women couldn't have been quicker to tell me I'd need to make an appointment even though I knew exactly what I needed for an incredibly basic project. When I tried to ask any questions I was met with the worst attitude and reminded the store was closing in an hour...? I planned on being in an out of the store with a couple things for my closet; I did not need a full custom closet design. Earlier in the day I saw online that the items I needed were in stock at the store and I just wanted to know where to find them. Nonetheless, I will never step in to that store again and will make future purchases from the website. read more

I wish that I could give 10 stars because the service I receive at this location is top-notch. The staff is extremely knowledgable and offers assistance that is bar-none. I want to recognize the store leadership for developing an awesome team that is empowered to do what's right for the customer and to not have to run back and forth to speak with a manager. Besides... The only reason I am not giving The Container Store 5 fatty stars is because it's just do dang expensive! They've got every "container" plus a ton of everything else that you need but didn't know you needed.... like a froggish garbage can in my case and a hand held luggage scale in my friends case. The employees are helpful and I saw a giant sign that said they are one of the best 100 places to work, which sort of sounds unbelievable for a retail store, but OK. This place is huge, and it love it. Especially when they have their sales. This place is a must visit if you need some organizational tips or storage ideas, they have everything you need and junk you don't need but think you need. It is a bit on the expensive side, so if you think you can duplicate the look with something you can find a target or fred meyer, do it because you will save money. Wife and I needed help designing a complex closet organizer using the Elfa shelving system. OJ was our sales rep and he made the entire process effortless. We came with very rough dimensions and no idea of what we wanted. 30 minutes later, he was able to draft a complete system with all components and pricing. I cannot recall ever experiencing this level of expertise and efficiency from any retail sales staff. He knew the product, the design software and exactly what questions to ask us. The place is located on the first floor of Lincoln Square, it's pretty hard to miss. It is a fun place to be if you're waiting for someone or even waiting to eat around the area, the store has a huge selection so there is plenty to look around for. Near their checkout stand, they have all these "junk" that you don't need, but it all seems really useful to have. Some that you'd never even think of. It's amazing the great selections they have, along with the people they hire, everyone seems so friendly and cheery. They know their products and they can give you suggestions when you're not sure which ones to get. Note that the items are a bit pricey, but the quality is great. read more

Very annoyed by how the sale handled my return this weekend: Instead of scanning each returned items, the sale lady tried to scan one item for several times, then told me she could not find the items in the system and could only issue me store credits. I refused and told her that she should not scan the white item for the black item that I was returning. She made exactly the same mistake for two other times, each time with a bad attitude and did not even listen to me. The 4th time she finally did it right and found the item. All she did was shrugged "well, it some times just does that." This was the second time they tried to just issue me store credits, instead of refund, although it was within returning time period. Those friendly chit chat during checking out accounted for nothing, if they could not even handle return correctly! read more

My husband and I have been in this store several times and now that we own a home decided to go shopping for some kitchen storage items. We walked in knowing what we wanted and found an associate to help. We showed her what we wanted in a catalog and she said she would go get the pieces. They were out of stock on a couple items and asked where we lived and if we minded going to the Tukwila store - it wasn't in our plans but we did it. She originally was just going to send us there but then my husband asked if they had it in stock and she literally said "Oh! I should probably check". She was going to send us to a store and didn't check? Not good in any form but considering we live in Lake Stevens that would have been a horrible commute for nothing. She was able to have us prepay with our order and just pick it up. That all worked out fine. Then when we got home and started to put the items together we realized that the associate pulled the wrong items for us and we could not put together our unit. So now we have make another 60 mile roundtrip to exchange something that an associate pulled wrong for us? That clearly did not make either of us happy. The only upside to having to drive to Bellevue is we used their awesome pay online pick up in store feature so we saved time and knew what we were getting. Overall the experience in store wasn't that great and we will just stick with pay online, pickup in store from now on. Everyone we dealt with was nice but niceness only gets you so far when peoples time, money, and gas are involved in mistakes that customers assume aren't being made since they don't have the capabilities to pull the items themselves. read more

A few months ago I came here to see what the big fuss was all about. I didn't really need much. A wrapping paper storage bin & a few other nick nacks but really I was only browsing. It was really busy so I didn't really spoke much to any of the staff but every one I did speak to was very nice & helpful. I thought this is a nice store but nothing much to write about. Today was a whole different story. I was searching on the internet for a hanging rod system for my walking closet that I wouldn't have to attach the rods to the side walls because in the middle of my room I had just bought a beautiful armoire in Cherry wood & I didn't want to drill holes in it. My plan was to have double hanging rods on each side of the armoire. I saw several different system but they either didn't look good of very flimsy & had fair reviews. I decided to look at the Elfa system. It seems like they might have exactly what I was looking for so I drove to the store with my measurements. I wasn't sure I would get help as I was not going to buy any type of drawer but just a few shelves & rods. Right away Ericka offered help. I showed her pictures & drawings of what I needed. She became immediately very interested. She showed me several solutions for my situation. She was very patient & friendly. In a very short amount of time we had figured out the perfect system for me that would blend well with my new armoire & dresser. I was in a hurry to get back home as I had friends meeting me at my home texting me that they were on their way. She expedited the preparation of my order. They texted me as soon as my order was ready (10 minutes earlier than predicted). Ericka came immediately herself at the Will Call area to help me load my car with the brackets, rods & shelves I had just purchased. Everything was shrink wrapped & very efficiently packaged. She provided me with a competer design & instructions for installation. It's hard to explain all the subtleties of the service I received but I just know I was very comfortable in the store & was very excited with all my purchases. I was really impressed with the service & the selection of products. Now I understand why so many people are in love with this store. I received today the best service I've ever received in a store. Tomorrow I will work on installing everything. But from what I understand so far it should be very easy to do. read more

Sometimes overpriced storage solutions seem necessary to declutter your life. However, unless you live in downtown Bellevue and Uber to your apartment, this is an inconvenient location and parking situation for large and awkward items you will spend way too much on. I just left the Bellevue store, and feeling very disappointed. I have bought small items here many times, and even though their prices are a little high, they have a good selection on a number of items and I have been very satisfied. I wanted to purchase an effa desk unit, and the salesperson not only did not have the time to assist me, she was curt in doing so. I really don't understand how companies spend so much money on marketing only to turn off a customer once they get into the store. The last time I went in I was looking for some small hooks and told by two different employees they did not have any, only to find them myself. This store is an example of why people shop online. There is a lot of open floor space, gives it a sad feeling. Maybe they are between stocking seasons. On a Saturday at noon, there were more employees than customers. We selected a power strip and 2 small plastic boxes and went to the checkout line. There were several employees but only 2 checkouts open. At one they were signing a woman up for the loyalty program and it was taking a long time. The other checkout had a problem. The unoccupied employees said "thanks for your patience" but did not open another checkout. A line of 5 people backed up behind us. We dropped our basket and left. I can buy that stuff online. If a store cannot take my money in a reasonable amount of time, they don't deserve it. There were plenty of employees and plenty of registers, it is simply rude to make your customers wait a long time when you have the means to serve them quickly. read more

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. But beware of their Elfa closet systems. Bad designed compounded by CHEAP, CHEAP Chinese construction. Shelves don;t stay in their brackets (especially the shoe sheaves). the whole system came crashing down several times during installation. it's worth the money for a better quality system purchased someplace else. read more

I was recently in the Container Store in search of a few items I needed for my home. I was happy to be approach by Abe, he was very attentive and knowledgeable about every product I had questions about. It was refreshing to be treated so well by an employee of a retail store. I am used to retail employees just rushing from one product to another and Abe took the time to explain and made sure I was satisfied with my purchase. I love most of the products in the container store and decided to buy an Elfa closet system for our walk in closet. The sales person repeatedly told us how easy it is to install, and we have installed Elfa shelving in the past. However, this time we had a major problem when the screw became entangled in the plastic Elfa anchor and would not go in all the way or come out. When I called The Container Store for assistance, they had no installation support. So after spending $4000 on this system, the only thing we know to do is to back out every anchored screw, cut them all off and start over because they have nobody who can advise us on how to proceed. They make it sound like there is a number to call for help during installation, but the people providing assistance don't have trouble shooting skills. They are sales staff who suggest trying the things any person with basic house repair skills would try, i.e. pliers, hand screwdriver. I am also wondering why they provide this type of anchor. After researching online, all the handyman/carpentry experts say to stay away from plastic anchors and go with the metal ones due to these types of problems. I am so very disappointed and so frustrated that at this point, I am tempted to load it all up and give it back. It is astounding to me that a company that sells such an expensive system has no installation support. when y ou run into a problem, you're on your own. I thought customer support was part of what I was paying for when I bought the system. I always thought highly of this company until now. What a shame! read more
