I always loved the idea of modular shelving that can be adjusted on the fly to fit storage bins, tools or what have you but been skeptical of the price and quality of the Elfa system offered at The Container Store. Well. It's the real deal! I'm thoroughly impressed with Elfa and the staff at TCS. They will help you design it, cut it to your dimensions and have it all ready and waiting for you at the pick-up location. I've gotten to know the staff really well there and they're a friendly bunch and pretty darn helpful and they even accept returns on merchandise that's been cut. A little note about the Elfa stuff: when buying the track or shelving, buy the longest offering, have it cut to your specs and ask for the leftovers. Save a little money and reduce waste. read more

This place is flippin' awesome. I came here to replace something I lost recently, and it's the only place I knew that had them: little pill containers shaped like pills. Weird, right? Well, if I'm going to be forced to carry pills around I'm going to try to look cool doing so. I could spend hours in this store. I love Storables in the University Village, but this place beats them on sheer quantity and variety. I especially love their travel section, where I picked up a bunch of stuff for future trips. I now have a little plastic container to safely roll up and pack a tie. Pure genius! Went thru The Container Store in Bellevue for our custom closet. My wife was able to do most of the design and selection prep by going on-line. We then made an appointment with their in-store designed and finalized the design and what we wanted. Very easy, very professional. The closet was installed within the month. Installer worked cleanly and efficiently and made sure before he left everything was as we wished. Extremely happy with this transaction overall. Only disappointment was when you spend $4k for a custom closet they should take away the trash after installation. Making that the responsibility of the customer left us surprised. read more

The first time I saw this store as one of the highlight stores of Lincoln Square when it finally was opened...I couldn't help but think...what the hell is that point of that? But anyway I've grown to love the Container Store: Cool Things @ Container Store: - Invisible Bookshelf (some contraption that holds a book on the wall but hides itself in the book and you stack more books on top of it..cool!) - Random Tupperware for just about anything and everything (cus you always need more tupperware) - Trashcans with automatic hand sensing lids...cus we are THAT lazy...hey if I had $100 to spend on a trash can I'd totally score it! - Closet displays you WISH you owned so you're walk in closet (that doesn't exist...yet) can look like David Lawrence...serious when I own my bad ass house..I will get this - Random jars/tubes which are GREAT for air travel now with that new 3 oz container rule. For the OCD personalities out there, the Container Store is going to be your heaven. No joke...if you are married, you will get a divorce and get married to the container store...if you are single, avoid finding a date at this store otherwise you will have two people with OCD personalities and I highly doubt that is going to work out! The Container Store offers a fantastic selection of items that is sure to please. I have yet to walk away from this store empty handed or without a solution to my organization needs. It is well organized by department and stocked. The service here is good and the staff have been incredibly helpful finding a solution to my needs. I have very mixed feelings about the Container Store. I had wanted to go for a long time, but as a friend of mine once remarked when we were sitting outside drinking coffee and watching people come and go from the Container Store, "People almost always look really unhappy when they leave that store." LOL. Maybe it's because they realize just how disorganized they are, or because the staff can be a bit snippy if you aren't one of those super-duper-organized-trooper types? Or maybe, because it is effing overwhelming to figure out how to contain certain types of chaos? In any event, I had to browse the Container Store many times before I could figure out how to work their items into my organization plan. I find Ikea to be more accessible in that regard (i'll just pick up something "organizational" that inspires me and figure out how to use it once I get home). However, the Container Store in some regards is a bit more upscale and maybe is geared more towards TOTAL ORGANIZATION. Which can be a lot of work. They have some really fun seasonal items which are fun to browse if you want to get ideas before diving in. (Cool wrapping paper and fun/cute dishes/wrappings to put cookies or baked goods in). One big score is their selection of glassware for storing food (canning or bulk food) and you can by per piece which is useful. I'm not a fan of the plastic, or cardboard organizer system.. but the baskets and Elfi closet org systems are pretty cool. Not quite California Closets, but it can get you on your way. They have a lot of little items that are very useful, and you may have been looking for this or that thingie mah-gig and find it here. If you are a first-time-shopper, I recommend going when you have plenty of time to browse and aren't facing a big organizational deadline. If the approaching deadline is why you are actually looking at Container Store reviews, by all means go. But try to keep Peace in your Heart and remember your friends and family love you for who you are and because you are NOT Martha Stewart. ;) read more

Got a lot of junk like old batteries, Christmas trees, cast iron skillets, and CD's to store? Well this place has got a container to fit them all plus just about anything for storing things. They kave a gigantic selection. The store is big, clean, and brightly lit. The staff is friendly and helpful (at least for guys who look lost). Last year I got a giant bag for holding my fake Christmas tree from them... pretty cool item. I've bought a lot of other stuff too since the prices are pretty much normal (not high or low). read more

I have such mixed feeling about The Container Store. Is it clean and well organized? Yes, and then some. Is the staff helpful and available? Yes, every time I've stopped in. Do they have that unique thing you need to organize that drawer/closet/pantry? If they don't have it, it probably doesn't exist. All of that is well and good until you get to the price tag, which for some of the items can be ... well, on the high end. Today I spotted an $130 gift wrap organizer (on sale from $199) and my daughter tried to talk me into a $90 laundry hamper. Yes, it was a very nice hamper, but that's still kind of steep for something one tosses dirty clothes into. Still, you can do well there if you're looking for smaller items and take some time to comparison shop the shelves. I found a kitchen cabinet organizer that was exactly what I needed for $12, but a search further up the aisle revealed another version for half that price. They also have a nice assortment of desk supplies, like cute paper clips shaped like bicycles or flamingoes - nice stocking stuffers. read more

When I called, the staff directed me to their will-call loading dock and brought a cart down to bring everything up to the counter, saving me immense hassle. In addition to lots of storage for all situations, these guys have an extensive line of closet organizers (codename: Elfa). I bet they do half their business in them. The organizers are mid-priced, costing maybe 200 and up (if you want wood and/or drawers it's a lot more) for a reach-in closet, and 400 and up for a walk-in. Your closet will comfortably hold double what it used to. You can customize them just how you want, and even after install things are fairly adjustable. They have a clever software system to help get everything right. I think they have a 30% off sale for Elfa every January. So far I have put 4 closets in, but on 2 occasions I've had to go back to straighten things out: once because some shelving wasn't quite cut properly and so had to be re-cut, and once because they were out of stock on some things but didn't bother to tell me until I came to pick up my order. Were it not for these issues I'd probably go 5 stars. To me it seems very equivalent to Storables down the street. The only big difference I see is that the Container Store uses computers for Elfa and Storables does the computations by hand. And CS is a bigger store. read more

I was in line behind one person, and when it was my turn, the cashier looked at me, then looked at this guy who had just walked up and asked if she could help him. Walking into the container store is extremely dangerous, especially after new years when I've made the "I seriously need to get organized" resolution..."as a matter of fact I do need individual shoe bags!" Its a great place to go when you need something more substantial and attractive looking than the 6.99 rubber maid tubs at Target. I have this crazy dream that someday - just someday - I will be organized. Browsing this store gets me motivated to at least dream the dream. This is a pretty big store, especially given the location. They carry tons of home organization items from the kitchen to the bedroom. I'm a huge sucker for their store brand clear, plastic boxes, especially for my shoes. I've gotten boxes in a variety of sizes since they seem to all somehow "fit" together nicely when stacked. I've also browsed the office organizers. The ideas that I have to reorganize my current incredibly messy workspace are exploding in my head! The staff here is nice and pleasant. I've never had an issue with them. My only beef is the prices here - they're not cheap - but at least you can get a discount on the Elfa items (30% off) if you shop the right time of the year. Whaa? I haven't written a review for The Container Store? I bought a house in October and still no one on Yelp knows of my secret organization weapon? Time to remedy...! I walked into The Container Store with dimensions and a dream. I had 4 closets to put shelving into and I was determined to get it all done in one place. Corey at TCS was the lucky fellow who walked over and "got" to help me. I gave him the dimensions and what type of closet it was (pantry, master bedroom, etc) and he started drawing at the computer. I told him what kind of things would be stored (25 pairs of shoes in boxes in the main closet) and he put in the details. It was easy!! We looked at the layouts once he was done and I made some quick changes (a few drawers in the pantry, etc). He then was able to price out each closet separately so that I could see if we were within budget. I got the quick tutorial on installation and I went to the register to pay. After they gathered all of my items, I met them downstairs at the loading dock to pick up all of the pieces. I headed home, and with the help of 2 others we got installing. We had plenty of hardware (weird fear of mine) and even had so much leftover that we brought some back after it was all said and done. I can't say enough about the service that I received from everyone at TCS and the myriad of possibilities for storage and organization. My pantry is always organized and every time I walk in there I am reminded of how great my experience was. read more

We needed some Elfa closet organizing pieces when we were re-doing our new house. Since there was a store-wide sale on shelving, we decided to meet with a consultant and talk about options. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. We received a complete closet redesign in an hour complete with a list of parts we would need to complete the job. Most of the parts were available in-store with the erst back-ordered and available in a week. Staff generally seems completely overwhelmed on weekends. Even if they doubled the amount of staff, it may not help much--this store is very popular with locals, and there's only 2 Container Stores in the area. That said, I suggest you go during off-peak times, perhaps after work mid-week? Or what worked for us was ordering some things on-line and then doing in-store pick-up to save on shipping. Will Call for larger items is located on P1 below the store. The Will Call signs are clear, but navigating to the spot takes a bit of skill..and luck since the area gets crowded quickly. The big yellow phone rings directly to staff, and the freight elevator accommodates even the largest items. Joining Pop (store loyalty program) saves a few dollars and eases returns, if you don't mind a full inbox. Will def return. read more

What is not to like about this store?! I love going to this store just to walk around and see all the stuff there is to buy! Granted that there are many items that I probably don't need to buy, but it is still interesting to see what inventions have come out to help people organize their lives. :) The staff here has always been friendly, and helpful. They are willing to help you find anything (in the store). Shopping for Christmas presents here is so fun, because the staff will help you locate items as well as give suggestions should you ask for them. The checkout line can be slow at times, but no more wait time than any other busy store. The best thing about this store is that the staff is not annoying about giving you assistance; they are just available. I am able to see someone to ask a question basically every time I turn around. read more

This store is one of the most dangerous stores in the Bellevue/Lincoln Square area (the most dangerous are the restaurants) The Container store makes you believe that your room... no.,.. house too can look like a page from a catalog. They have everything you need for organization, storage and travel. Whenever I wonder into here like a fly to the light, I always come out with a little less in my bank account..... But be careful sometimes there stuff isn't always the best deal. You can go there for ideas, and come out go to the cheap stores (like Daiso) buy similar products and make it work. Its also best to ask the employees when things like the Elfa storage solutions go on sale. I just got and Elfa system my idea started off at 800+ bucks but with sales and other smart planning solutions it came down 50%! Well worth the fun. Just be careful with your wallet. read more

Oh container store! You make me dizzy with the amount of ideas you fill my head with! This store truly is the place to go when it comes to organizing your home and well, getting shit done. They also have cool odds and ends type stuff too, I purchased their flask-like glass bottles to make infused vodkas and rum for presents this year and everyone kept asking me "where did you get these bottles? They are really cool!" My only issue is why do you only have one location and it's in Bellevue. I loathe Bellevue - it's soooooo crowded and ESPECIALLY nutty-crowded around the holidays. Some of the ladies that shop there are about as plastic as the home containers you put sweaters in... I know that isn't your fault container store but when I went there this Christmas and had to endure marching bands, kids on stilts, teens dressed like sugarplum fairies and polar bears pushing people into retailers, I cursed the existence of Bellevue. The Container Store sells an idealized image of how life should be lived: neatly, in an orderly fashion, with everything in it's place, perfectly labeled. With all their plastic containers, bins, boxes, and doo-dads, the Container Store is like porn. You want what they have--you really, really want it. But in reality, you'll never be able to attain the level of perfection they're peddling. Just like porn, the Container Store is addictive. Once you go, you keep thinking of how you could use that odd little contraption you saw there, or that you could have the most organized CD collection in town if only you could take a trip to the Container Store to get your fix. You could so easily drop a load of cash here to get your life somewhat organized. They have it all, and if you don't know where to find it, all you have to do is ask--some nice person will surely help you find what you are looking for. As much as I adore the Container Store, I always leave feel somewhat inadequate, especially when I return to my decidedly unorganized house. *Sigh*. The coolest thing about this store is that upon entering and walking around for five minutes, you find the coolest, spiffy things that you could use around the house. Afterwards, especially for me, it gets depressing because you eventually realize how much more complicated it gets--then the cost goes up because everything that's cool here costs a bit much. I mean, wow, $100 touchless trash cans? A full spectrum of colored coat-hangers? I'm not hating, I'd love having a touchless trash can or a color sorted set of coat-hangers that match all my clothes, but I'd hate myself for spending so much on it. Regardless, this might just be the perfect place to bring a bunch of friends to walk around and look at things, and each time I go I usually find something I need... and actually buy. read more

IKEA for boxes. Full of things you thought you never needed (and probably don't), this is the place for well-organized and tidy hoarders. This place almost guarantees a Pavlovian response for those OCD-types with label-makers. Nevertheless, this is a great place for items like space-savers and things that reclaim wasted space (like walls and closets). I was happy to find the whole line of Eagle Creek's line of space-saving travel packing items. Compression cubes and vacuum bags will in many cases eliminate the need for one checked bag for a weekend-to-weekend vacation. Paying full MSRP is easily offset by fees for a pair of checked bags. read more

It's so awesome that they have a store for people who cannot live unorganized, like me. No, it's not like everything has to be parallel or perpendicular, but I honestly can't handle it when things are lying around. They all have their PLACE. Anyways. ahem. This store is MY store, and I'm happy, like their slogan says, to "contain myself" using the containers so nicely provided, my personal favorites being the ones disguised as aerosol cans which can hold your small-sized prized possessions. Which is actually pretty cool. I also love the different colors they use for everything. It really isn't your regular old drab, clear containers. Everything, from the garbage cans to the small drawers to hold trinkets, each have a unique and interesting colors. Oh, and did I mention the employees here? I honestly love this store!!!! The only reason I can't give it five stars is because of the quality. Sone if my items (such as the maple syrup container I got for my mom) are just not working as well as we expected when we purchased them. I can however, spend at least an hour walking through the store just imagining what I could use all their items for. I used to work close by and I found myself destressing by looking for items to organize my room. I'm definitely one of those who get hooked on organizing so I love going through the office supplies and room decor looking for ways to spice up or re-organize my room at home. I also like looking at the kitchen goods they have, seeing if there's anything unique I've never seen before or looking for ways to make the overall cooking process at home a little easier. read more

Great selection but OVERpriced items and clueless staff :( I was there recently since I urgently needed a chrome wire shelf. I needed it NOW so I bit the bullet and bought here versus online. Imagine my surprise when the shelf I wanted rang up at over $250 when the exact same shelf can be had online for about $100. Wow, I get it, it's solid gold under all that chrome. I wanted casters with that and the lady handed the posts and the casters to a co-worker to assemble it. This 5 min task took about 20 mins, the first sign of trouble. Then at the cash register there were more delays when they insisted in partially wrapping the shelf pieces. Then at home the big surprise: the casters had been put on wrong and one 5 inch rubber bumper was upside down as well (seriously? you blind or what?). So I had to take the casters off again (pain in the ass) and then re-assemble it correctly. Hey, for a $150 upcharge I expect better, much better service. I won't be back. read more

I'd always loved browsing the Container Store for the organizational stuff that makes my anal-retentive Virgoan heart sing. But what really put this place over the top for me was the redoing my walk-in closet with their Elfa shelving system. The guy that helped us choose the units and design our new closet was awesome -- very patient and easy to talk to. We opted to have the shelving installed in the closet (instead of doing it ourselves, which honestly didn't look that hard), and the person who came out to do it was extremely organized (go figure) and immaculate. I wish we had them in Canada and it's always a treat for me to come to the nearest one in Bellevue. Never walk out of one of these stores empty handed! This place is clean, well-organized and super practical. The decor items are pretty basic and skippable IMHO, but the organizational items for everywhere in the home is where it really shines. A container can be found for pretty much any drawer/cupboard/space that you want to divide up. Great customer service. Only downside is that there was a bit of difficulty locating something that I did a "click and pickup" on, but it got resolved pretty quickly. For regular in-store shopping, never any issues and stocks are good. I can spend hours in here - this place makes me as happy as a new bag from Chanel, and that's saying something! read more

Let's. Get. Organized!!!!! This store has TONS of containers and other goodies to organize your whole house and office too. If you're even the least bit of a neat freak or ocd about keeping clutter at bay, this is a dangerous, I mean wonderful store to meet your needs. I could spend hours in here...and probably lots of money too, but my husband doesn't have the desire to tackle such a shopping trip and then haul everything to the car (good thing there are nearby free parking options!). I'll probably just need to do those trips on my own...but he will probably come to the ocd-side once we really put these containers to work keeping our home organized! We needed a few high quality shelving tracks and brackets to finish off our new pantry. We didn't need installation services. We had looked locally at track/bracket shelving and found flimsy, cheaply made stuff. Elfa pieces we saw online led us to the Container store. We were massively impressed with the Container Store in Bellevue. Staff from the greeter at the door to the young man who brought out our purchases to Will Call were friendly, appropriate and knowledgeable. We were in and out of the store and on our way home with our purchases in no time at all. We'll be returning over and over again. read more

The first few times I came to this store it gave me a fierce headache. It's like, OMG, really?, this is the most OCD place I have ever seen! And, to top it off, I starting thinking about "work". House work, or organization. Needless to say, I bought nothing and loathed the Container Store. I have been back a few times to see if I could overcome my "Organization phobia" and after several years, I think I'm finally OK with the container store. I still haven't bought anything as I'm not in to "make work projects", but at least I can now tolerate the store. I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I'm a sucker for my clothing to be in neat piles, all color coded, with matching white hangers, now if they make it that way and stay is all up to my work schedule. The Container Store feeds my addiction. I literally have 3 closets all dedicated to my clothing. My mother has even threatened to make me purge all my clothing, so in an attempt to save them, I bargained with her and told her that I would organize, organize and organize again. Organize in such a way that I could tell what clothing and shoes I had at a quick glance. Oh, thank you CS as you have saved me from parting with all my fav's. I could spend days here looking through all of their products. I'm convinced there is a container to hold every piece of you life here in this store. Are you looking for a hyper-organized closet system? It's all here. This store is an organizer's dream. I only like going here when I need a specific item such as record crates. Otherwise it's too easy to shop impulsively. Their prices aren't the cheapest here, but they seem fair for the specialty kinds of products offered. Parking tip: The Lincoln Square garage can be validated for up to 3 hours for free when making a purchase. This place contains the best selection of containers you can find! Don't go for imitations. (I'm looking at you, Storables!) The Container Store carries Elfa and Metro (and InterMetro) storage systems, which means if you need to organize just about any room, you have the best shelving systems you can get. Other discount stores have similar products/systems, but look closely: these are knockoffs. See what the weight rating is for each shelf. Compare. Look closely at construction. I did, and decided that as loathesome as going to the East Side may be for this homebody, the Container Store is the place to go. The office organization supplies are excellent as well. I especially love the cord decluttering options. Finally, the best part is that you can order your items on their website and pick it up at Will Call. No crazy running around the store needed.
