This is one of those places where you can feel the passion from the staff, the service was spot on, multiple fellas stop to check on us through our dining experience. We decide to try to burger with peaches with pesto fries, recommend by the staff. Everything was on point. Burger was moist, tender and the peaches changed the way I'll eat my burgers. Places was standing room only, line of 10 plus waiting. Again, the staff engaging in conversation while making sure food is to the expected standard was nice and definitely different. We got to the Chef's Table between 4:45 and 5:00 pm, and the place was buzzing with activity, however, finding parking was a breeze. As we entered, we were greeted by a crowd of waiting patrons and a lively atmosphere, amplified by the bar's proximity to the entrance. The wait time was surprisingly short, around 5 to 10 minutes at most. We were greeted and seated by someone who seemed to be the manager -- we couldn't be 100% certain, however, his exceptional kindness throughout our visit greatly enhanced our experience. As we continued our journey, the next person we met was Paul. He greeted us at our table and promptly took our drink orders. Paul offered an apology for the wait time right away, which, although unnecessary, was a considerate touch that we appreciated, particularly as the wait turned out to be quite brief. Before taking our order, Paul was very engaging; we discussed a variety of topics, which made us feel relaxed and like we were his sole priority, akin to being VIPs for the moment. Ultimately, my wife and I settled on the same cocktail, the Blueberry Haole, which was immensely tasty! Then Quentin (or Quintin, I'm not certain of the spelling) came to our table and took our order for food. My wife chose the Beet Salad, and I was torn between the Shrimp and Grits or the Southern Fried Mary's Chicken. After seeking Quentin's expert advice, I ultimately decided on the Shrimp and Grits. We received and savored our flavorful meals. My wife adores beet salads, and this occasion was no exception. The Shrimp and Grits had a taste reminiscent of my homemade version, and it was delightful. However, if you're cautious about greasy food, be aware that the broth in the Shrimp and Grits seems to be derived from the short rib gravy, but its flavor is so compelling that you might overlook its slight oiliness. Paul came back to take our order for the final course: dessert. Once again, we struggled to make a choice. Paul, emphasizing that he wasn't pushing for a sale, suggested the "Cornbread Strawberry Short Cake." We gladly accepted his recommendation, and we were delighted with our decision. My wife and I agreed that this was probably the best Short Cake we ever had, prompting me to want to try and duplicate this at home at some point. This was our third visit to the Chef's Table, and although our visits are infrequent, this experience ensures that we will definitely be returning much sooner. Truly, a fantastic dining experience. From the customer service to the food... Everything was top-notch. Starters were the beet salad and the asparagus plate. We dined here as a group of 8 people. The host was very accomodating and gave us an eta of an hour wait which we were okay with. All 8 of us were here to try the Fried Chicken and see what all the rave was about. Let me tell you, each person had cleaned up their plates. No crumbs left behind! The chicken was super moist and the mashed potatos creamy and just the perfect amount of seasoning. Carrots were soft not mushy cutting into them was like butter. It lived up to the hype of the locals! The Chef's Table (TCT) can get pricy, but given inflation, the large portions, the high quality food, and great service, it now feels like a good value. I recommend the seasonal Peach Burger and Braised Short Ribs. Most popular dishes include the Fried Chicken and Pesto Fries. The Foodies of Rocklin/Roseville Facebook group also recommends the Pastrami Egg Rolls. Restaurant is also known for its PB & J burger, which is an off-menu item offered year-round. The servers are very professional, courteous, and attentive, checking up on you regularly. I wish TCT would hold a customer service training class!!! I don't like the restaurant's noisy, bustling bar atmosphere, which is a bar-centric, circular floor layout. Restaurant is very popular and has regular customers. Dark wood bar. Tasteful modern rapper art on the balls. On my 3rd visit, I heard rap music playing, which is not my first choice for restaurant music. I've been to TCT 3 times. On my first visit, I felt ripped off because my final receipt showed prices higher than the online menu prices, in-restaurant menu prices, and even verbal price estimates. The braised short ribs were $29 on the online menu and on the printed in-restaurant menu, but I was charged $31. Before ordering dessert (because there is no printed dessert menu), I asked how much it would be. The server took a guess, but price ended up being $2 more on my bill. My fault for not speaking up during that visit, and it kept me away for a long time. On my third visit, the online menu didn't match the in-restaurant menu offerings. Because of this, don't trust the online menu to be accurate. It only gives you a ballpark idea, so be prepared to be surprised by a different menu and possibly different prices when you are at the restaurant. The restaurant changes menus frequently. On my first visit, the braised short ribs were tender and delicious, but the green beans were undercooked. I didn't care for the oyster shooter and the s'mores bread pudding, which everyone seems to love and recommend. On my third visit, the bread pudding and cheesecake sold out, leaving only the brownie! My 2nd visit was short and sweet. I specifically went in to try a burger, which the Foodie group suggested as being one of the best places in town to order one. 100% correct! I was graciously allowed to dine in during the last half hour before closing. I ordered the seasonal peach burger and a beer. The server made a fuss about ordering medium rare over medium. Although I ordered medium rare, it came out medium or medium well! Still super delicious though. Loved the grilled peaches, delectable sauces (basil aioli and balsamic reduction), and stretchy mozzarella cheese! The burger is big and gets messy as you eat it. It is presented with half a dill pickle staked into the burger! Good for pickle lovers like me. 3rd visit was to use my $5 birthday reward. It's nice that TCT has a birthday reward system and emails you coupons to get you to eat there. My plan was to order the pork chop, but I got thrown off course: The in-restaurant menu offered apple brined pork chop with puff pastry and squash, whereas the online menu showed grape brined pork chop with potato croquettes and broccolini. The waiter and a couple of Foodie group members recommended the risotto, which I historically don't like; however, I decided to give risotto another chance while at a good restaurant. The Wild Mushroom Risotto was yummy, creamy, and evenly cooked with fancy mushrooms I've never had before. The waiter recommended the $7 add-on for 3 prawns or $5 chicken add-on. It's a $17 add-on for 3 scallops! The prawns were oversalted to me, so I'd either skip the add-on or choose chicken next time. Risotto portion is huge, more generous than an average restaurant, so I recommend sharing it with someone or taking half home. Caesar's salad is fresh. You can order either a half portion or full portion for $3 more. Server will grind black pepper until you say when. This place ROCKS! We dropped in just before 5:00 on a Thursday and were seated immediately. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. The best part of the night was the food and drinks. The menu may look a little "outside the box" but the food is outstanding. This is fine dining with a Bohemian edge. I Love it. Get there early. Started off with an old fashioned which is what this place is known for. The drink was fine it tasted like an old fashioned. It was $22 at lunch time the main problem I had was the ice wasn't clear. It was one rock, but when I pay for a craft cocktail I expect clear ice not one with oxygen pockets and impurities. We had the pesto fries, pastrami eggrolls and then the french dip. I feel like they are trying too hard to be different and the taste of these items are not good because of it. The pesto fries were fine. Those were actually delicious. We were not seated until close to 6. We ordered right away and our food didn't arrive until 6:45ish. All of that being said, we sat at the bar, ordered a beer flight and thoroughly enjoyed our time waiting! The bartenders are truly masters - it's fascinating watching them and they're super fun to chat with. When the pesto fries arrived, we couldn't get over their crispy exterior and delicious pesto flavor. Truly a must get if you're getting the burger or any sandwiches. Speaking of the burger - man. What can I say? Fig/bacon jam, Brie cheese, perfectly cooked medium - it is truly spectacular. My husband ordered their French dip sandwich- tangy horseradish, tender meat...everything you want! The front waiting area was bustling with people having a drink or two and warming up their appetite for food was fresh and cooked to perfection. Wife and I wanted to try this place out for the very first time yesterday, Saturday. I called ahead of time to make reservations and unfortunately they don't take reservations! So we drove there and there was a 40-45 wait! There were at least 10 couples waiting to be seated. However there were several tables that were empty and the huge bar they had only had 5 people at the bar. When I asked the host if we can sit at the bar while we waited and he replied, "no those have been reserved and you'll have to get on the reservation list" and I was confused because I thought there was no reservations. So we walked out along with others! We went Bennetts restaurant down the street and they sat us down right away! I don't think we will ever The Chefs Table. I ordered the pb&j burger and it was the best burger I have ever had, the bun was soft and perfectly toasted, the meat was fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also had the French dip, it was again on a fresh roll layered with perfectly cooked prime rib with the right amount of blue cheese, onions and horseradish cream, it was the best French dip we have ever had. Let's not forget our appetizer and drinks...the almond hummus stuffed avocado is fantastic and my whiskey sour definitely made me happy!! My husband had iced tea and even the tea was excellent. Started with the stuffed avocado (hummus) and siracha with a side of pita because I've never heard of such an appetizer. Then had the Braised boneless beef and mushroom stroganoff melted in your mouth, freshly made in house pasta, no sauces overdone. Tried the TCT bacon fig jam burger, came together really well even though it was packed with flavor and the bread was so soft and perfectly toasted. Husband swallowed his lobster Mac and cheese. At least every other table had the lobster mac so that says a lot. Couldn't make it to dessert but now we know to save room next time. The drinks were pricey but the service was really on point. We had the pastrami Reuben eggrolls which were phenomenal! Pesto fries were good, hangers steak was a great appetizer, marys fried chicken was yum and the vietnamese short rib was fantastic.
