Very nice small restaurant. There is one seating per night, and only 3 employees, chef, server/manager, and a helper. The entire night was great from the first time we stepped inside until us leaving. We appreciated the intimate service and feel of the business. The menu was a 4 course style with a set price. All three employees were great. Since it was such a small business, reservations are needed. They usually buy/prepare for what is expected. The desert was a berry cobbler, and it was great. The only problem was that I could not order a second one, even if I paid extra, because they did not have any extra. Thus reservations are highly recommendations. I like the rotating monthly menus. We will definitely be back. As a Side note, if a fine dinning experience with a cost to match. If money/cost overrides the experience this might not be the best place for you. We knew that Fourk had undergone a change in ownership last year and that the prices have gone up since we first started coming a few years back. But we had a free night come up and had been saving to be able to try it out again. We were one of only four parties there on a Thursday evening and we sat at the bar. We always enjoyed doing that in the past and once again loved the experience because we got to chat with the host Vincent and the chef Charles throughout the evening. We also were glad to see that many of the old elements of the Fourk experience have been upheld despite the change in ownership. Now, to the good stuff- the food was absolutely delicious. You can tell Chef Charles nerds out on coming up with all the dishes, how they work together, how they work with the season and also how the wines will pair with them. We had the Classic wine pairing which gives you a nice 1/4 glass pour with each of the four dishes. Believe me, you will be satisfied with the amount of wine you receive. Our four courses included a delicious winter greens salad with sweet persimmons, creamy goat cheese and candied pecans, a creamy potato leek soup with complex layers of flavor including a Chantilly cream and chive oil, a pork roulade with a filling with garlic and herbs paired with the yummiest apricot/mustard pan sauce, truffle mashed potatoes (with real shaved truffles!) and a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Every single dish was scrumptious and we left feeling very full and satisfied. A five star experience from start to finish. Is it pricey? Yes. Is it worth it? Yes. I will begin with the positive things... the staff were great, attentive and kind. Good service The food not so good actually for the price we paid it was not good. I had the fillet mignon was pretty much well done ( slightly pink but I can't even say it was med /well ) not seared either. It was like they sous vide but not seared so it tasted like it was reheated in the microwave! Very poorly done. The asparagus was very over cooked and limp. I can say the garlic mashed weee delicious as was the ceaesr salad dressing. There was a second course of broccoli Cheddar soup which we puréed and tasted like baby food. The guy I was dating made a reservation here for a romantic dinner, and I found out it was a prepaid four-course meal (paid reservation as well) with a set menu that changes monthly. It's a small, intimate spot--which explains why they book up quickly, especially on weekends. He was smart to reserve for a Thursday night. It was quiet and cozy, great for an intimate evening. The food was definitely good. The meal included a caprese salad, asparagus soup, your choice of lasagna or filet (which you have to choose ahead of time), and dessert. Each course was well-prepared and nicely presented. They start you off with a small glass of their house red--it was tangy with a sweet finish, definitely something unique. I ordered a Chardonnay afterward that paired nicely with everything. There's also a fun, thoughtful theme: Forks & Four hence "Fourks." There are only four staff members working each night--the chef, hostess, server, and runner--and they all introduce themselves at the start of the evening. The vintage fork decor adds charm and character, and the team was genuinely nice and knowledgeable throughout the entire experience. That said, there were a few things that impacted the overall experience. We were seated at a small two-top table against the wall, even though there were open four-tops. I felt boxed in, and unfortunately, I was facing the front door, where sun poured through an uncovered upper window for most of the meal. It made it hard to see my date--it honestly felt like I had a film over my eyes. Not ideal for a romantic evening, especially since it ended up being the night he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was a special moment, and the ambiance just didn't quite support it. What made it a bit more frustrating is that staff walked by several times and didn't seem to notice or offer to adjust anything. To top it off, there must've been a staple or sharp piece under my chair because it snagged my stockings and caused a run. I had to toss them afterward, which was annoying--especially at a place considered fine dining. Would I go again? If I were being taken on a date--yes, I think it's a sweet, unique experience. But would I personally pay for it again? Probably not. The food was good, the concept is creative, and the staff was lovely--but for the price point, I expected a bit more in terms of comfort and attention to detail. My wife and I had booked dinner reservations well in advance for our 18th wedding anniversary. On the day of, Fourk called at 11 a.m. to say the chef was sick and they wouldn't be able to honor our reservation. The caller mentioned that they would normally offer seats at their Folsom location, but a special event there prevented it -- a comment that felt completely unhelpful. I understand that people get sick, but notifying us so late in the day was frustrating. I also wasn't thrilled that the menu hadn't changed since our last visit and that they were still offering the same tired braised short rib. Still, my wife really wanted to go back. After this experience, though, we won't return -- and for what it's worth, Chef's Table is better. read more

Tonight was my fourth visit to Fourk, and it was without question my best experience there. I visited once before the current owners took over and enjoyed it, but this dinner with the current team completely outpaced my previous visits. Each course was thoughtful, beautifully executed, and clearly made with care. You can feel the passion behind every plate. My only regret is that I ate far too much and the menu will change before I can return for another round. If you can make it in for January's menu, I highly recommend it. This was our go to date night location but our recent visit was lacking. The thing about this place that separated it from the rest was the attention to details and the personal touch by the staff. The old guard is gone so the service just wasn't the same. The friendly banter was missing. Even the intro before dinner service was streamlined and missed personality. Before, everyone was introduced to the guests even the dishwasher with some personal info that made them feel like friends. Also, the chef never came out which was always a thing at the end of the night. Moreover, they ran out of appetizers. How do you run out of crackers, salame, and cheese? Very disappointed sitting for 30 mins without food. When we got to dinner, the salad was good but the second course Mac and cheese was cold. It came out in these cool cast iron skillets but it was just for show. The main dish and dessert were good. Overall, it was underwhelming. TLDR: What a clever concept! We really enjoyed our time here. The food was delicious and the quantity was more than enough for me (husband thinks the portion size was adequate). The wine pairing was perfection. Overall very positive experience. The long review: We have been scoping this place out for a while waiting for a menu that both my husband and I liked. February did it for us. Review on food quantity: I tend to eat like a bird especially when I drink alcohol. My husband is the opposite. He didn't eat much during the day in anticipation of dinner. I ate normally beforehand. We pregamed it at another place nearby. We each had a drink and shared a light appetizer. BIG mistake!! No need to pregame when you go for a dinner at Fourk kitchen. At Fourk, we each got the wine pairing which equaled about 2.5 glasses of wine each. By the time I finished the first course I was starting to get full. Thankfully my hubby helped me with all my extras. By the time dessert came I could only muster up 2 bites. My hubby LOVED the dessert. He said it was the highlight of the meal, but he couldn't help me finish my dessert so I got it to-go. The sexual innuendos talk we could have done without. Don't get me wrong, I think it's really clever, the play on forks on the decor and the bill, I'm light, I can have fun and it's playful.. but ok, call me a Catholic prude. I suggest they cut the sexual part out. It seemed to fall flat with the crowd, and I can imagine people who have been there multiple times are probably quite sick of hearing about the pictures. All-in-all it was a wonderful experience; my husband and I enjoyed ourselves. We loved the vibe and the food. We did find the service was a little lacking to justify the automatic 20% "fourking fee". We arrived promptly when they opened their doors at 5:30 and started with their charcuterie board that had some variation from the last visit. The flavor combinations were still delicious. My favorite was the strawberry jam and goat cheese. They have a happy hour for drinks before they serve the first course that comes around 6:45. If you can't finish anything, you can ask for a box to take home leftovers. It wasn't completely packed this time so it was slightly quieter and still had an intimate feel. I brought my own bottle of wine and they offered a decanter, which was a nice touch. I have been to Fourk's many times, but the new Chef ROCKS previous times, the menu for the main was one dish New agenda. choice of Meat of alternative (i.e. fish, chicken etc.) My friend had the halibut I had the short ribs. The server/hostess was very nice and welcoming... Reservation was for 5:30, however dinner service doesn't get started till 6:30. After some wine, we got out first course, which was a Caesar salad. Tasted very good , small portion but not too bad. Presentation was a 4/5. Next was a delicious Mac n cheese, with a panko topping. Again, small portion but good enough. Presentation 4/5 The main course came next, and this is where things started to turn for me. After the first two decent courses, I was expecting the main course to really jump out. However, it was the most disappointing part of the service. A NY steak thrown on top of a creamy risotto... Portion also a bit small, and not much flavor from the steak. Presentation was a 2/5. The dessert was good, tiramisu. No complaints there, presentation 3/5. Nothing special just a good tasting desert. All in all, it was a decent experience. The whole thought behind this restaurant was for it to be a "affordable" fine dining experience. And while you kind of get those fine dining vibes from the start. You don't really feel those vibes as you leave. My wife and I spent just above $200. I've spent just about the same at other places and felt like I got more out of it. Again, it's a decent restaurant and I can see why some people might really enjoy it. However for the price you pay, it's not worth it IMO. read more

Fun experience! Booked a reservation a couple months ahead of time since they tend to fill up pretty quickly. Chose a 5:30pm reservation since we figured we could have a somewhat early dinner. A few days beforehand, we were confirming with our friends about what time we'd be meeting. I was a little confused because the confirmation email said to please make sure to be seated by 6:15pm and dinner would be served at 6:30pm. I guess the 5:30pm slot is best enjoyed by guests who want to hang out for drinks during their Happy Hour when there's a discount on beverages. Didn't realize it was only one seating per night. So after getting a message back from the owner on Yelp (they didn't answer any phone calls), we showed up between 6:00-6:15pm. It's a small little place but our party got to sit on these nice cushy sofa-looking seats. I believe another party cancelled so the seats next to us were empty that evening. So here's what I learned about Fourk: * They love forks and the number four. * Their menu changes every month. * They have one seating per night so everyone is served the 4 courses around the same time, starting at 6:30pm. * They add 20% gratuity to your bill. * They recommend if you're looking for a last-minute reservation to check out their Facebook page. They also have some text line where they'll text you if there's a cancellation. * As of May 2022, the dinner is $54 a person. Seems that it's gone up from $44 according to older Yelp reviews. At $54 a person plus an $18 charcuterie board and a 20% added gratuity, the dinner was not inexpensive. We had their May menu and it was pretty good. Every item we tried was delicious and we all gobbled everything up. Definitely would be open to coming back for a different menu each month. The only downside in my opinion is that the meal takes a bit longer than most meals. We were there from around 6-8pm. A lot of the time was spent waiting for the next course, or hearing the manager talk about little known facts of each employee, or learning about the restaurant's background. While it's fine to hear this the first time you're there, I'm not sure I'd want to hear it every single time I visit. Definitely a fun experience to try at least once! read more

Food is solid, but no mindblowing flavors. I found it expensive, spending $80 on the $54 pre-fixe 4-course dinner, one wine, and 20% automatic gratuity. I thought the 1st and 4th courses were plated beautifully. For my 2nd course, 2 out of my 4 deviled egg white halves were imperfect, appearing to be missing a bite. The 3rd course, which was the main course, had some broken ravioli and just looked boring to me. I liked the cheese ravioli as a comfort food though. I wished there were some sauce to accompany the sous vide beef tenderloin. The crushed salted pretels in the pudding dessert added a fun, surprising crunch. My dinner companion seemed to enjoy the deviled eggs the most. Fourk is a unique dining experience: It is as if you are at a private dinner party with a host who tells you stories about the restaurant and the servers. You definitely have to make advance reservations to eat here given there is EXACTLY ONE 6:30 pm seating per night for a maximum of about 30 diners. There is a 45-minute Happy Hour from 5:30 pm to 6:15 pm before dinnertime. 24% discount because one restaurant theme is the number 4. There was an appetizer special available in limited quantities that sold out while I was there. A charcuterie board is also an appetizer offering. During the Happy Hour, I was given a sample of Lambrusco, which is a delightful, very sweet red bubbly (semi-sparkling red wine). I liked it so much that I tried to memorize what the bottle looked like and took a photo of the dessert wine menu. At home, I surfed the Internet for the wine and realized that my inexperience with wine had me loving the late 70's/early 80's brand Riunite (Riunite on ice...that's nice!). Fourk's dessert wine menu had a typo of "Ruinite" instead of "Riunite." I have since purchased a 1.5 L bottle at Walmart. Sigh, wine has such a high markup at restaurants, but it's just more fun to sample a pretty glass of wine at a restaurant. My dining companion is a regular here, so she received a little more special treatment than I did, which felt awkward but is understandable (i.e., she got to sample an extra wine; she received a larger red wine glass, instead of the appropriate champagne flute). I felt a bit singled out for eating my main beef course the slowest, but the restaurant is on a schedule to bring out the courses and the server was just trying to keep me informed. I was allowed to continue eating my dinner, while the dessert course got served. I was also distracted talking to my friend and taking food photos. read more

Wow! Best dinner I've had since we moved here 9 years ago. This is truly a special place on all levels - food, service, atmosphere. Every bite elicited pleasure sounds from all four of us. The October menu is sublime. We had both entrees at our table and both were delicious. The other three courses were each extraordinary. I kept my review at 5 stars but that said it wasn't my favorite Fourk dinner a true rating would be 4.5. The staff as always was wonderful and welcoming. The wine list always impressive and we found a new favorite Cab. The appetizer, a deviled egg with mushroom mouse was delicious but the portion of the filing was disappointing- we wanted more devil and mouse in our egg. The Parmesan crisps were fantastic. I missed the truffle popcorn. The salad was a twist on Caesar but sort of bland and too ranchy for the spicy vibe. The highlight I was too busy eating to picture was the tenderloin. Perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked it was the star. Desert pannacota was creamy and a perfect end to the meal. As a side note please Fourk get rid of the tacky fake table flowers. Where do I start? This restaurant is maybe 1 step above Dennys. The chicken parmesan with spaghetti tasted like spaghetti O's. The meal was cold and the cheese was hard... not even melted. Everything else was subpar as well. Would not recommend this restaurant at all. They also charge a 20% tip. Service was average definitely not 20% deserved. They had their dishwasher telling us about the appetizers and she didn't even know what they were...lol. We actually felt bad for them but knew they needed our feedback to improve. After we gave them the feedback not even the manager or the so called chef came over to address the negative feedback. This restaurant is kind of a joke. This eatery is a study in profit grabbing (12.6.24). A lovely intimate environment serves about 25 people. Restaurant was 70% capacity on a Friday ....not a good sign. Upon entering after 10 min or so you are offered some stale wine....on the house. (TYVM) Dinner at 6:45 was 15 min. late. Salad was mostly composed of nuts and 7 spinach leaves, Lobster bisque was very very salty could not eat this. Beef wellington was certainly not what is shown in the photos above but was a very cheap very leathery cut of meat the size of an ice cube covered with potato. I would be shamefully embarrassed if I served this to my guests in my own home. I wouldn't have my staff help of "4" people brag about Fourks and how glorious it is unless it actually is. I saw some customers leave before the weird peppermint cheese cake dessert--- also nothing to write home about. Citizen Vine is across the parking lot and I would strongly suggest eating there as they actually feed you delicious food and are treated respectfully AND they will not take advantage of you price wise. been there done that but will not return read more

Went to dinner here around Christmas time and had a great experience. The staff start off the night introducing and telling a fun fact about themselves. Definitely different than any dining experience I've had before, but unique. They also go over the four courses, in detail, which is nice. First course was a spinach and cranberry salad. Really good dressing and lots of bacon. I'm not a big salad fan, but this was good. My wife, who is a salad fan, loved it. Second course was Lobster Bisque. Honestly, this was probably the favorite part of the meal for myself and my two daughters. It will really, really good, tons of taste/flavor. The main course was deconstructed Beef Wellington, which I think basically means the steak is outside of the pastry. It sat on top of I guess what you would call pated (not even sure that's a thing) mushrooms. This was all really good. Maybe not the best steak I have ever eaten, but very good. Dessert was a Peppermint Brule Cheesecake. This was good, but I'm not a huge peppermint fan, so that didn't do it for me. The carmelized brule on the top of it was a nice touch, though. The one inconsistency I saw was in the wine prices. The two cabs they had on the menu were $20 and $28 per glass. I only tried the $20 cab, Crown Point Relevant, which was fantastic. The $28 cab was for a wine I wouldn't consider near that price range and ratings on it aren't great. There was also a red blend that was $12 per glass for a bottle you can get for $14. And I know you're always paying a premium for wine (or liquor in general) at a restaurant, but I look for pricing that is commensurate with quality/value. This place is perfect for a date night. We actually did a couples date night with 8 people in total. Reservations is needed. You won't get in without it. You can get lucky if there's a last minute cancellation. It's a formal four-course dining service and is casual. The menu changes every month and the meal is offered with suggested wine pairings. Natalie our host for the evening is so nice. This restaurant is the sister restaurant of Citizen Vine (another great place for happy hour with the girls) or a tailgate party get together before Friday night lights in the surrounding high schools for football. I highly recommend Fourk Kitchen. It's definitely on the pricier end...not to pricey but If you're on a budget save for a special occasion. read more
