Went to The Capital Grille McLean location for the first time ever for a birthday celebration, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. Great food, very professional but club-like decor and atmosphere (as expected for this chain), but absolute tipping point was hands down the service. Jason C was an exceptional server: friendly, knowledgeable, exemplary service and style. Food was so good I only remembered to take a picture of the after dinner cappuccino but in our party we had the filet mignon, sea bass, and sides of asparagus and potatoes au gratin. Everything was prepared perfectly.
Great setting, great ambiance, and I love this area. They haven't disappointed the two times that I've visited and I will be back. Everything from the burgers to the steaks, to the salads, to the drinks, this is an all around winner. Don't miss out on this winner.
I've been to The Capital Grille in DC before, but this was my first visit to the Tysons Corner location after being invited to a birthday lunch. We were offered a pre-fixe menu, which I actually appreciated because there was a solid variety of options. We started with crispy calamari and a bread basket at each table, followed by a choice of mixed greens salad or clam chowder. Entrée options included salmon with couscous, chicken breast with rice, steak frites, and a vegetarian option. For the table, we also received sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes to share - always a win . Dessert was a decadent platter of flourless chocolate cake, crème brûlée, and cheesecake. For a table of six, it was the perfect amount to sample and share . Unfortunately, the service was subpar. While I understand there were about 45 people in the room, this lunch was planned far in advance and should have been staffed accordingly. Simple requests took far too long - I asked for ketchup and by the time it arrived, my fries were already cold. Beverage service was also painfully slow, which took away from the overall experience . The restaurant itself is housed in an office building, and the signage isn't very visible from the main road. That said, I loved that they offer valet parking for just $5, a total steal for the area . The location is spacious overall, but the private room we were seated in felt tight for the size of our group. It would've been helpful if the organizers had been advised that the room might be too small. Overall, the food was delicious and the parking situation was ideal. Still, with so many incredible non-chain dining options in the DMV, this isn't a spot I feel the need to frequent at this time.
Great food; great service. I wanted to take my wife out for a special meal and this was the perfect night. Not only did we have a great time, but we had a tremendously enjoyable evening. The setting was nice enough to call romantic and comfortable enough to enjoy the night out without feeling we we the only patrons. We started the evening off with their bread and some mocktails, which perfectly balanced the flavors. For starters we had the prosciutto wrapped mozzarella, and oh my gosh, so good. We also had soup, which were delicious. I had the French onion, and my wife a squash soup. For our main meal I went with the bone-in ribeye, and my wife the sliced filet mignon with cipollini onions. While I would say my steak was good, my wife's was great. For a (large) side we had the au gratin potatoes, which is the way to go. We capped everything off with one shared dessert, a chocolate espresso cake, which was smooth and creamy. Delish. And for the record, we left stuffed, satisfied, and with leftovers.
I'm giving them a 5 star review because the food and service are normally top notch! The restaurant has a great ambiance! The service is always amazing! They are definitely professional about offering a great dining experience. Their calamari is one of the best in a area. Try the prosciutto wrapped cheese! I ordered a ribeye and unfortunately it was a bit overcooked 2x and had a heavy, overpowering balsamic taste. The mashed potatoes, asparagus and lobster Mac and cheese helped make up for the less than perfect steak.
On 8/15/26 I took 7 family members to celebrate 2 birthdays at The Capital Grille in Tyson Corner VA. Only three have been to Capital Grille but in DC. My family was so impress with the great food, the staff, the music that was playing and the peaceful atmosphere. Kudos to our great waiter Mr. Lawrence Jackson and his servers whom were exceptional! My family are great tippers, when he saw his tip he couldn't believe it. Just to see the joy on his face, and that made our day even more joyful
Made a reservation online for 6:30pm on a Friday but arrived early. My party was able to be seated without any issues. I will say, the restaurant started getting busy a little later so something to keep in mind. Went for a birthday dinner and let the restaurant know in the online reservation details. They added some "flair" to the table, which was a nice touch. Had the crab and lobster crab cake as an appetizer. It was delicious! The menu said it was for 2, but it's just 1 large crab cake, fyi. Had the salmon as an entree and the other person had steak. Both were tasty. Also added asparagus as a side because I didn't notice that the menu mentioned that the salmon came with green beans (it does so I must have missed that). Our server brought out a complimentary dessert for the birthday, which was a nice touch. Overall a nice experience.
Whenever there is a special event at Fairfax Capital Grille, I love to be there for the delicious food, wine and especially the ambiance. Such a special event is their Wagyu and Wine. If you haven't yet, you need to go while it's going on. It's only for a limited time. I enjoyed it twice this year so far! I love to take home part of my meal and stretch that wonderful rich taste of Wagyu and the Truffle Fries as well as the House-made Chips. There is even a Chips and Caviar version, if you can indulge! It's wise to make reservations so that you can be seated in the area of your choice in the restaurant. There are even Private Dining Rooms and they are beautifully intimate.
The Capital Grille in Tysons Virginia was an excellent choice for dinner and they also always have one of the best service. Food came out fairly timed considering a busy Saturday night. Valet parking is the only option and it was only $5, I was surprised how quickly they were able to greet me with a line four cars deep. I tried to tip the driver however he kindly said it can be done upon leaving if needed. The dry aged Kona steak was quite large and cooked exactly how I liked, the thick cut was ordered medium rare and the color in the center was precise. The highlight was the breads, both the raisin rye bread and the sourdough onion bread were so tasty. I would like to compliment the server for staying professional and brisk although one of the trays tilted and spilled onto my shirt sleeve, she was very apologetic and quickly came back with an extra napkin and attention to help absorb the excess water. The overall night was very pleasant and I will be happy to come back and enjoy another occasion.
One of my favorite seafood and steak restaurants in the DMV. The service is excellent, the restaurant is sophistically decorated and the food is always consistent. My favorite cocktails are their Stoli Doli and Dirty martini. Their seafood tower is always fresh and easy to eat. On this occasion they had a porterhouse special that my husband and I shared. They pre-sliced so it was easy to divide in half. My only complaint would be I wish they had specials on desserts but what they do have is consistently good.
Pretty good. Stopped here for dinner while charging our car on our way back from the airport, and service was friendly and fast. White tablecloths and most people were up dressed, but they didn't make a fuss and I didn't feel any judgement about me and my hoodie and sandals (eep). I loved this onion bread that they had in the bread basket... It came out toasty, warm and savory. I didn't care too much for the other breads which is surprising because I love rye bread--the one in our basket was a bit cold and hard. I liked the variety in the basket though. The sea bass was good -- it was a bit on the overcooked side, but the sauce made up for the slight dryness. I liked the mushroom and asparagus, and the sauce wasn't overpowering to any of the food's flavors. The Mac and cheese was a bit watery, but after mixing it and letting it sit a little bit it was fine. Good chunks of lobster and the pasta cut was interesting! Overall, would definitely come back.
Came back for some sea bass and wedge salad, alls well that ends well. The valet is always helpful.

Always a good time when I dine! This is my second year indulging in The Capital Grille's Generous Pour wine event and it is by far a bang for your buck and amazing! The servers are always tentative and knowledgable (we had the pleasure of having Jason and Lawerence provide their exceptional service the last two times I visited). For my first partake in the Generous Pour, I chose to pick my own entrée (the delectable lamb chops) along with the 6 curated wines for $38. All of the selected wines are great but my fav was the Goldeneye Brut Rosé. Annndddd you get refills of your favorite(s) - chef's kiss! Planning my third (and last) visit this week before the event ends August 30. read more

Exceptional service and delicious food. We went there for a nice lunch. The ambiance is upscale with white tablecloths. All the servers and staff were very attentive. I loved their Bloody Mary - so flavorful and savory. It had the right mix of flavors and spicy-ness. I also loved my wedge salad. It was crispy and fresh. Amazingly refreshing. I added some grilled chicken. I also highly recommend the lobster mac n cheese. That was one of the highlights at the table. The calamari was lightly breaded and came with a medley of peppers. A great option for an appetizer! read more
You all know I compare Love to Restaurants! I love The Capital Grille. It's a quiet reminder that consistency and quality can still echo the kind of love we long for. My sweet friend also loves this place. Dinner was easy to decide on this week. I don't typically like being in VA but since I'm his "favorite" plus one, yes let's do it. Service is always great here! Can't remember a bad visit! Ambiance, typical "fine dining" atmosphere. I love that most patrons are dressy. I typically get steak when I'm here but he dines at this location at least once a week (he's loyal) and raved about the salmon. I listened and followed his recommendation. Let's get into it! Salmon - OMG I might have found my new favorite place to eat Salmon! Chef's kiss! Do not get well done, prepare it the chefs way! Sautéed spinach - was perfect! Will note I didn't need a side but I got this and glad I did. Filet Mignon butterflied - Oscar Style is my go to and typical order. Lobster Mac - Always! Perfect for date night, with an ambiance that encourages slow talks and shared smiles. Recommend this over and over! read more

We had a great dining experience , Rich was our server and also did a phenomenal job with walking us through the Generous Pour wines. It was also restaurant week and he did a great job with accommodating our larger party. We had a bday at the table and they did a great job making the birthday girl feel extra special. We will definitely be back! Food wise we all went with items from the restaurant week menu which was standard but a great value ! read more

Last time I visited, I had the lamb chops and ribeye, which were both outstanding. This time, I tried the lobster stuffed shrimp (not even on the menu but if you ask, they'll make it, and it's an absolute must), the clam chowder, the Wagyu burger, and finished with a slice of Key Lime Pie. Everything was flavorful and well prepared, though I have to say the Coconut Cream Pie edges out the Key Lime for me in terms of dessert. The service was excellent, and I really appreciate that the staff went out of their way to accommodate a special request like the lobster stuffed shrimp. Overall, another great experience and one of my favorite places to come back to for both the food and hospitality. read more

Came for a dinner during the week and it was not too busy. They do have a dress code found on their website. No slippers, shorts, T-shirts... etc Be prepared to spend at least $200 for a party of two without drinks. The servers and staff are all very welcoming and excellent. They have bar seats, high top chairs, or booths for walk-ins. They serve warm bread and a flat bread with sesame seeds on it. Mmm those were good even though they weren't the main course. I got the lobster bisque which wasn't all that worth for $18. I would skip it. The Lobster Mac n cheese was worth it as it comes out really hot on a cast iron. I also got the field greens salad, but I think the salad was overdressed and the seasoning was too strong. The dry aged porterhouse was really good. It was the special of the day. I wish I knew the price before ordering because it wasn't on the menu. I should have asked. The filet mignon was tender as you expect. In terms of coming out the way I wanted it cooked (medium rare), it was perfect. Meats were tender, well-seasoned, warm and easy to cut and consume. I did not get any beverages or dessert. The bill came out to be $220-ish and then tip so it was quite the expense for one meal. I would come like once a year for a steakhouse like this unless they have a good happy hour special. They did not have any happy hour menus. I did not want to use the valet service, so I parked at Tysons and walked over. I think that is one of the inconveniences of coming to this location is their valet rule for parking. I'd very much prefer to park myself. read more
While it is on the pricey, the Capital Grille's menu is consistently tasty and is a great place to share a fancy meal with family and friends. My friend and I came for the Generous Pour Wine Tasting event where we got to sample various wines for only $35. As someone who wasn't too familiar with wine, this was a unique introduction and a fun experience nonetheless! We started off with the Calamari - crispy, packed with lemon, and topped with a delicious variety of peppers. Great portion as well. It was delightful and started our meal off on a delicious note. From there, I got the Filet Mignon and I can honestly say this was one of the best steaks I've ever had! Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly medium rare! Paired with the Au Gratin Potatoes and Asparagus, this meal was fit for a king. Our server was incredibly friendly and treated us to a complimentary dessert and champagne and the end of the meal. Great hospitality and lively energy on such a packed Friday night. Overall, a great experience that is worth giving a try at least once if you are in need of a high-quality steak dinner. read more

Capital Grille my first time around(September) on my birthday was pretty great; however, this past December the Friday before Christmas my Husband and I had a very uncomfortable experience. The place was packed don't get me wrong that is great for business, but service lacked because our waiter had multiple tables outside of ours to attend to making us have to wait for longer than our last time. I wish this restaurant had the audacity to let their customers know that Fridays are their busiest and it doesn't allow room for a much intimate experience which people like myself were going there to experience. Did I mention that they sat us right beside all others who were celebrating either a birthday or anniversary. We also all got the same complimentary dessert which didn't make us feel special at all. I feel like the choice of dessert if something is going to be free should be of the consumer and not the restaurant. However, that is my opinion. My ribeye was great. My husband's steak was poorly cooked. It was over charged and rather on the well done side instead of medium as requested. When we did want to send back the steak we were informed that changes or add one's to our evening dinner was to be done by our assigned waiter. Although, he was polite he was just super busy. The bill amount was decent. My drink was great (didn't get a picture). read more

We were skeptical about how TCG had such a high rating after thousands of reviews. The answer is simple; TCG checks EVERY fine dining box and pulls it all off with class. We had our work offsite wrap up at TCG on a weeknight. Drinks, vino, apps (fuhgetaboutthatmozzandprosciutto), bruschetta, calamari, steaks, mashed potatoes, and deserts (did the chocolate ALSO taste like coffee? Boom.) were all flowing like....wine? While yes, the food was 100, we're writing this review about the impeccable service. Servers were peppy, eager, hit many curve balls, and quickly corrected any errors. We appreciate TCG's GM, leadership, kitchen, and servers for setting such a positive tone and offering us a warm, upscale experience. Strong recommend for a casual/couple's dining experience and/or your next company's get together. Best restaurant experience we've had in a long time. read more

First things first: you Must valet park or pay to park in the garage. Waking in, at least in the evening, you're greeted by an eye-catching circular bar illuminated by sultry amber lighting and low-volumed jazz - definitely 'seduction appropriate' Blackberry bourbon sidecar - definitely not on the sweeter side, which was what I was expecting. Boozy and slightly citrusy. Lobster and crab cake w/ lemon basil aioli- Tasty. Couldn't really distinguish between the crab and lobster but was good. Sexy yet friendly, worth a visit! read more

My boyfriend took me to The Capital Grille for my birthday, and it was such a wonderful experience. The sea bass was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and full of flavor--and the calamari was incredibly fresh and tasted amazing. The atmosphere was elegant and made the night feel extra special. Capital Grille was one of my lunch standbys for business meetings pre-pandemic and I always thought it was one of the better high end steakhouses in the area. It's probably been a good 5 years since I've been here and it still has the nice steakhouse vibe. As my high school age son said 'wow this place is fancy'. What to order you ask? Yes, you must order the steak here. That said, I've always been a fan of their Lobster/Crabcake as that was my standby lunch order with the French Onion soup. We go nostalgic with these as our apps and add in the wedge salad. Steaks ordered- Kona crusted NY Strip along with the regular NY Strip. Sides - Brussel Sprouts, Creamed Corn, Au Gratin Potatoes And...yes...everything is spot on and delicious. Steaks cooked perfectly with a nice char/crust and the french onion soup is just as I remembered. Lastly the service is exemplary...you have a main waiter and a secondary one who follows up and makes sure your every need is met. I must say everything is just as it was back in the day. We must make a point to come back again sooner for sure. read more
I came here for restaurant week and it was a good experience overall but there could be some improvements. Pros: --Service was excellent. Our waiter checked on us often and refilled our water over 7 times, Lol. --Food was on point. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection. The sides and cheesecake were tasty as well. Cons: --Although he was attentive, our waiter did not inform us that our sides are complimentary refills. So we didn't get the chance to order more of it. --I ordered the lobster as an add in to my filet mignon and it literally was so small! For an additional $15; it was not worth it. read more
It was our Anniversary lunch... they sprinkled our table with hearts, along with a card. And as a bonus, they gave us a complimentary dessert. It was all the little extras that made our experience so great! Caesar salad- crispy lettuce and loved the dressing. Filet mignon with crab meat and Béarnaise sauce, over a bed of asparagus. Filet was cooked medium as requested and flavorful. Chilean Sea Bass- delicious and prepared well. Dessert chocolate cake and cheese cake. It was so hard to decided which tasted better because they were both so good! We would definitely return. Great customer service and attentive staff too. They provide valet parking. $5 flat rate. read more
