I am a rooftop connoisseur, so when looking for the best rooftop bar in Baltimore, this was the recommendation. I planned to come for cocktails at the bar and enjoy the views on a Saturday night. If you have the same idea, then make sure you get there well before 9pm since the DJ comes at 10pm and they remove all of the seats at the bar. The bar area then becomes the dance floor with the tables at the two viewpoints being first come first served. Otherwise, the drinks were fantastic, and the views were spectacular. read more

My first review in 2022 goes to The Bygone. A very good friend of mine introduced me to this fun and sexy venue. Idk what rock I've been living under, but The Bygone is where it's at! Where have I been? First, you feel like VIP when you walk into the Four Seasons, and using the private elevator to go up to the restaurant. Food: So, although I consider myself a "foodie," I've never tried Tuna Tartare until the Bygone. And, again, where have I been? The tuna mixed with the guac and soy sauce - absolute goodness in my mouth! I've also had their duck, lamb, crab cake, and maine lobster cocktail. Listen, every single dish I have had felt orgasmic. I kid you not. Please visit and send me thanks later. Drinks: I've tried the Bygone Daisy - which is my favorite, and the Lion's Tail. The Bygone Daisy is simple: tequila, strawberry, lemon, and sparkling rose. Delicious and refreshing. The Lion's Tail is a bit stronger with bourbon, allspice, lime, and bitters. Both very good drinks, but obviously, different flavor profiles. Lastly, dancing starts on the other side of the restaurant around 10p. The music genre is more dance/club music than anything. Another gem in baltimore. I came solo the first time last month, raved about it so much my friend chose it for her bday dinner this past wknd - was hard not to repeat the grilled Maine lobster with crab. Nothing is overcooked and the flavors are fresh (and the seafood is seasoned!). First visit i had the wagyu meatball starter which was delicious, especially that mushroom gravy. I took a chance on the lamb gnocchi this time and OMG. The two ppl i let taste it ordered a plate for themselves. 5 stars. Ambience is romantic, its dimly lit with views of the harbor surrounding the dining room. The patio is nice too with a fire pit table and other seating. We had a wonderful table and as the sun began to set, they raised the window covering. All you heard was oohs and ahhhs. A friend and I visited here on last night for her birthday dinner. We had great view and the overall ambience was nice. The customer service was great and the staff was friendly and welcoming. For the food, we ordered the Ceasar salad, whole branzino and the prime rib with asparagus and Mac as the sides. The fish was good but the prime rib was more on the rare side then the medium I asked for. The flavors were still good just alittle under for my taste. I really did love the age cheese Mac side. If you like baked mac & cheese..you would probably love this side here. The Bygone Daisy cocktail was very tasty. Lastly I opt for the sticky toffee pudding dessert. This was the perfect finish to a good meal. The cake was warm and sweet, the ice cream was perfect compliment. Also this place does have a happy hour and full bar with outside sitting that overlook the Baltimore Harbor which is beautiful especially at sunset. Our daughter gave us a gift certificate for Christmas 3 years ago before COVID, saying that her gift would pay for the wine alone--and she was right. We finally went on 2/13. Sadly, they didn't have their Valentine's Day menu on the Sunday and day before Valentine's Day! (I find that very strange and sad. . . especially because it looked pretty delicious) So this is a place you go to for the view and the ambience. The view really is spectacular. We got there earlier than our reservation so we could see sunset. Beautiful, beautiful Baltimore--love this city! Prices are crazy expensive, but what do you expect for a place that won't let you wear denim? We got the rotisserie duck entree, which since it fed two ended up being quite reasonable in price and too much. We not only took duck home, but I took the remaining carcass and made a really delicious duck broth. I may go back just to get another duck so I can make more duck broth! The apps and sides were very delicious as was my cocktail. So overall it was a very nice and less expensive (due to gift certificate) than it would have been celebration night. read more

The Bygone has some of the best views in the city in high end, polished package. Baltimore is a fairly dressed down town so it's refreshing to have a higher end establishment to take out of towners or to have a fancy night out. However, despite the strict dress code posted prominently on the site and at the entrance you'll still see people in sweatpants and sneaks. That isn't necessarily a negative but it did make me telling my guests to dress to impress moot and excessive. If you're going to a Four Seasons rooftop spot, you know not to expect bargain basement prices. However, we were disheartened by the price to portion ratios on unremarkable entrees. Come here for the bar and the breathtaking view not for the food. The spirit and wine selection is exhaustive. They even have a couple of nonalcoholic options for teetatotalers among you. I tested out the Cinderella (I ordered it while laughing at myself) which was remarkably complex and wasn't just juice. The staff is attentive for the most part though our server disappeared for long stretches of time which can be frustrating especially when you'd like to pay. Overall, it's worth a visit. Just eat elsewhere and come here for the bar. read more

There was someone that directed me towards the elevator abd told me to wait there, someone would be done to get us. Recently went to the bygone for a random date night. I had the bygones version of a Moscow Mule cocktail, and my hubby and the traditional, both were good. We ordered the crab dip and it was really tasty, I just wish they would have served it with sliced bread or chips. It was strange eating it with pretzel bites. For my entree I ordered the rack of lamb medium, it came out medium rare which didn't bother me at all. It was still delicious. My husband had the short rib and it was ok, he liked my rack of lamb better. The Mac and cheese was good and so was the cauliflower. The view is very nice. And the atmosphere is great. Be aware they do have a dress code. I don't think it's strictly enforced as I saw some teenagers with sneakers and at another table a man with a Henley t-shirt on. But all in all it was a good dinner. And as you can tell it is on the pricey side but the food and service matched the price. read more

While we were in town for a work trip, we came here for an evening get-together. This is a lovely restaurant with a marvelous view. The server was quite pleasant and helpful. The food was tasty and well-presented. I appreciated that there were alcohol-free cocktails available. Could really appreciate coming here for drinks overlooking the harbor, which is what many finely-dressed clientele were there for during our stay. We had a party of 9 with a reservation at 7. We ordered 3 seafood towers (and they brought a special one for someone with a shrimp allergy), bottles of wine for the table, a few first dishes and dinner, as well as desserts. So in that context, I will say that we didn't end up leaving the restaurant until after midnight, shortly after completing our desserts. It took over an hour to take anything other than our drink orders, and another 30 - 40+ minutes to take our entree orders, which added significant delay to us getting our meals, which I'm sure is due to hand-crafting in the kitchen. But it was nearly 10:30 before we got our entrees. I eat late at home (like 9pm), but this was a bit unreal. Luckily we had good company and nobody was cranky-pants so it ultimately worked out, but there was definitely some efficiency that could be improved. High quality ingredients, well prepared. Came to celebrate my Anniversary. May 13th 2023 Did valet Went up the Elevator. Signed in we had to sit for a little bit. Then we were escorted to our table. The booths are not very Comfortable with sitting for a long period didn't help our server was good but he came sporadically at long periods and at times we were ready to just go and our butts and back were hurting. FOOD ISNT WORTH THE PRICE!!! my sauce they poured on the side distasteful and not Hot!!... To say the least the bygone is overpriced for a Mediocre food and limited Menu Nothing exceptional!... I'll give it 4 out of ten. Don't waste your money on going to the bag on unless you just want to go just to say that you've been there like I did. Everything about our brunch experience was absolutely fabulous! I mean how can you beat brunch on the 29th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel! The service from our attentive and funny Rachel made us gals feel like we were the only ones in the dining room. Views are incredible of downtown Baltimore, too bad it was a gloomy day so the photos we took give it no justice. The tasty brunch buffet included an Oyster Bar, Shrimp Bar, Omelete & Waffle Stations, Duck Cheese grits, along with all of your usual brunch suspects including but not limited to bacon, eggs, and pastries. I would definitely return again for brunch again or live music and cocktails on a Friday or Saturday. The only thing I would have done differently was to take it easy on the mimosas that are approx $15 a piece on top of an already pricey $70 brunch. It was good, but I was definitely hungry an hour or so later. The main draw is the views. My party was there just before sunset, so we snapped some really nice pictures. There are a few aspects to Bygone: dinner, brunch, and nightlife. Dinner at Bygone is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend the rockfish ceviche, grilled octopus, and the 36-hour short rib. But, no matter what you order, it'll be cooked to perfection. The Sunday brunch is quite a spread, with prime rib, oysters, and an omelette station in addition to the standard brunch fare of salads, desserts, and pastries. At $75 per person, it's still a good value. At 10 pm, the restaurant bar area turns into a nightclub with a DJ. The drinks are decent but expensive, however there's no better view in the city (though Topside is comparable). The music is mostly pop, hip-hop, and a little house, though it depends on the evening and the DJ. read more

The Bygone is one of the must-try places in the city of Baltimore. I have visited this restaurant twice this year and I always have an amazing experience. Their menu changes periodically but the quality remains the same - each dish is amazing flavorful and presented like works of art. On my first visit, my date and I enjoyed a Guinea Hen served tableside which is beyond what I expected. On our second and most recent visit, I had the Halibut while my date had Lamb. Let's just say our table was so quiet because everything was so delicious! A stunning view and a fun experience. I went to The Bygone for a friends night out and we all had a mixed experience. The restaurant is located on the 29th floor of the Four Seasons Hotel, with a stunning view of the Inner Harbor and the city skyline. The interior is elegant and glamorous, with a roaring 20s theme The service was professional but impersonal. We waited for 30 minutes to get our drinks and several of my friends had to wait even longer. I would pregame if your not keen on waiting for a second round. There are plenty of places to stand and sit, as well as an area to dance. There was plenty of outdoor seating where you can get a decent view of the harbor. They also have firepits when the weather is a lot colder. The wait was not that bad considering it was a Friday night, however the line did get longer as the night progressed, so i would get there early if possible. Overall its a fun upscale bar with great views, but their are a lot of other places that can compete for your business.
