    Salmon

I visited The Monarque during Restaurant Week with my mom, and we had such a great time from start to finish! We started with a couple of drinks and appetizers--I ordered the artichoke dip, and it was so good... creamy, flavorful, and the perfect way to kick things off. For my entrée, I went with the steak frites, and WOW--10/10. Cooked perfectly medium with a great sear, super tender, and full of flavor. Definitely one of the highlights of the night! My mom ordered the salmon, which was also cooked to perfection. She wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce, but the fish itself was spot on. Now let's talk about the real bonus perks--they offer $2 espresso martinis on Thursdays (yes, please!), and there's even a free burlesque show after 7 p.m. That combination alone makes it such a fun and unique night out. Between the food, drinks, and overall vibe, we truly enjoyed ourselves. This is easily a spot I'll be coming back to--especially on a Thursday for those martinis and a show!

They have 3 mocktails and I got the rose enchante and it was tarte and flavorful. The decor has such a cool vibe too.

Thursday is $2 espresso martinis and $3 if you add baileys! The best night for a girls night. We got there just in time for food but kitchen does close at 10pm so plan accordingly! The food was lovely - I recommend the Brussels (it's a bit sweeter though!) and the Mac and cheese was so good. The espresso martinis were strong and such a good price. Can't wait to be back for more!

In town for 24 hours and stopped in here. The food was great (onion soup and mussels) but the staff was truly the standout. Very attentive, kind, professional and personable. 10/10 no notes!

I really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place. I came for the wild mushrooms vol-au-vent dish. I had a similar dish years ago and was aiming to experience it again. Unfortunately, the puffpastry wasn't so flaky or as yummy as I had hoped for. However the mushrooms itself were seasoned and flavorful. There are pro/cons to any experience, but the fun had made up for the minor preferences not delivered. The duck confeit appetizer was also a shockingly zesty bite. We split this and I was extremely grateful I didn't come ravished. I would order it again though, even though a small dish. I have not had anything quite like it. We came just as the host was gearing up for the social hour with a live band and some jazzy tunes. This really rounded the experience for me. I think between each of us having a drink, splitting the app and two entrees we were just about a $200sh experience. I appreciate the valet out front as well.

First off, this place is beautiful!! Very moody, dim lighting. This would be a perfect date spot. I also saw they offer private event seating in the back for groups. I did a walk-in with a group of 6 for happy hour on Thursday evening. We were enticed by the espresso martinis! They are only $2 which is insane! They are on the smaller side, but for the price I didn't mind at all. All of us ordered the drink and they came quickly! My tiny gripe is that none of us were offered water. But to be fair, we sat on the other side of the bar (the main bar didn't have enough open seats to sit 6 of us), so maybe we should've been more proactive. I shared food with my group, and almost everything was tasty! I really liked the oysters. The short rib poutine was very flavorful! The meat was tender. The beef sliders were a classic. The truffle fries were also so addicting, I couldn't stop eating them. The only thing I didn't like was the salmon puff. For some reason, it was kind of powdery to me? I will say their food all err on the slightly too salty side for me. And then oh my gosh, the burlesque! I didn't realize they had shows on Thursdays too (I thought it was only weekends). So imagine my surprise when I saw the girls perform! My entire group was shocked but in a good way! The energy was really fun in there. The servers are all very kind too! This is located in Harbor East, so street parking is limited. But you can park at the Little Italy garage for $5, which is what we did. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for happy hour! Dinner and a show can't be beat.

I gave my husband two options for his birthday dinner. Monarque or Garden Rooftop? Ultimately we decided Monarque because it was dinner & a show and we had already been to Garden Rooftop. The show was nice & the staff was pleasant. This was such a bad choice. The steak was extremely tough. My mil liked her fish but she likes bland food. My husband and I both got steak frites and a bad cut of meat & extremely unseasoned. I have to make up for the birthday dinner now by going to a place with a nice aesthetic & good food. I would try this place again during happy hour because that menu looked better than the dinner menu.

This is my second time going for espresso martini Thursdays. I always have a great time. The drinks and appetizers were exactly what we were looking for. I love their beef tartare!!! It's so flavorful! They were definitely busy but once we got a seat at the bar, the service was great. The burlesque show had great music. I always love the esthetics and low lighting.

Super nice, live music, kind of loud, but I do enjoy it! Beautiful courtyard. Delicious espresso martinis (my first time trying them & it was an excellent first time experience)! The vibe of a jazz bar/club! I enjoyed the quick and great service I received even though it was a busy night. I can't wait to make another visit here when I come back to the area!

this place exceeded my expectations. I will admit it was a bit hard to find nestled in between two other restaurants but very cute ambiance on the inside. A perfect spot for a date night, and or girls night out. Our server recommended amazing choices and they were cooked to perfection. To our surprise they also had a burlesque show and entertainment which was first for me. I will definitely be back!

Went here for my birthday dinner and the atmosphere was incredible. Dimly lit with live music, cabaret, and impeccable food and drink. Waiter was attentive and sweet, they brought out my dessert with a candle to celebrate my birthday. Had such a great time!

As always Monarque was very classy with an amazing ambiance. The service was impeccable and the food and drinks were excellent. My friends and I shared the Lyonnaise salad, short rib gnocchi, duck confit, and the braised short rib. Every dish was decadent.

I'm only giving the monarque three stars because their singer was so charming. When we walked in she was so welcoming and charismatic. I went there with one of my girlfriends for Valentine's Day weekend and I don't think she fully understood that the monarque is the type of restaurant that you should absolutely have a reservation for. But she insisted that we can just get a seat at the bar. Nope !! As soon as we got there, the bar was filled with every single man who had the audacity to not make a reservation on Valentine's Day for their girlfriend and girls (like us) who are just enjoying Valentine's Day. But that's not even the point of the story. The monarque has a speakeasy between them and Tagliata. There was a 45 minute wait so we put our names down and grabbed a drink at the Monarque. When we get the call and go back to the speakeasy, we asked for a menu they were like "the only menu we have to offer is the Valentine's Day menu because the kitchen is backed up". ONE that makes absolutely no sense. No sense at all. I can understand if I was actually dining in monarque but at a speakeasy that means you just have like small bites at the very least. They're literally cheating people out of so much money. On the Valentine's Day menu six oysters is $45 (SIX that's not a typo) but on the dinner menu it's $24. They even had potato and leek soup, potato and leeks. These aren't even popular vegetables. $30 ??? Get out of my face like that's just heinous. That's absolutely heinous not to mention they put ingredients like pachouli and Bergamot in their cocktails. I don't want a musky drink. The mental gymnastics I had to do to find a drink that didn't taste like a monkeys armpit is ridiculous. And I can afford it, but I won't pay for bs. That's all I gotta say about monarque. I was excited to go, and then I was severely disappointed....... But that's not to say I won't give them another try for like a date night when I have a reservation.

When we arrived, we were seated right away, but it seemed like there were very few staff working--possibly only one waiter. It took about 10 minutes before we finally had to flag him down just to place our order. The food then took around 25-30 minutes to come out, which felt very long since we were on a tight schedule for our flight. When the food finally arrived, I ordered the macaroni and cheese, and unfortunately it was the worst mac and cheese I've ever had. I don't want to be mean, but it was very bland and really needed salt. My sister surprisingly liked it, but it just wasn't for me at all. The rest of my family did enjoy their meals, and I thought the fries were decent, just lightly seasoned. My mom especially liked the grilled cheese. The waiter himself was nice and kept our drinks refilled, so I don't think the long wait was entirely his fault. The restaurant is very cute inside with cozy, old-style vibes and festive Christmas decorations, which I really liked. However, between the long wait times, the limited menu, and my disappointing mac and cheese, I wouldn't recommend that dish. Overall, it's a charming place, but the service was too slow for us--especially when trying to catch a flight.

Since it was New Year's eve, there were few patrons or maybe this is the usual scene? Don't know. But there are some comfy couches by the front in which a young couple with a baby was nursing. Another couple was just finishing up dinner and started to head out. We were the only two diners for about 20 minutes before another couple came in for dinner. There were also about two or three people at the bar. So basically a very quiet place. No one at the hostess stand, only a woman at the bar. She eventually sat us and took our order. Things were slow but not so slow that I would complain. I would surmise that most of the staff was off that evening. Food was also slow in coming so there might have been a small crew in the kitchen as well. We ordered the mezze appetizer. Nothing to rave about. It was just a plate with vegetables and hummus. We both got the wagyu burger and fries. The whole meal was quite decent. The meat was cooked to the correct temperature and the fries were crispy. It was quite filling for me. Maybe it was NYE but everything was quiet and nice.

According to their menu, "We are proudly building a worker-cooperative serving story-worthy food from around the world." There were certainly dishes from around the world, and the menu is very flexible for a variety of diners (dishes are marked as vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, and dairy free). My friend and I shared the crispy cauliflower and tahini, which was well-fried and delicious. I also appreciated their drink offerings. My friend and I had and enjoyed a couple of glasses of Lebanese Sauvignon Blanc (from Mersel Wine). I had the Farmers Market Za'atar Salad (cucumber, shaved beet, fennel, pomegranate, pickled jalapeno, mint, fried pita, baby greens, and za'atar yogurt dressing), to which I added falafel. Unfortunately, I found the salad to be quite dry (not dressed enough and then the falafel and the pita crisps just compounded that) and served in a dish that made it quite hard to eat without spilling half the salad on the table. The service was friendly but perhaps not very attentive. I got up to ask our server for the check after waiting for a bit of time for her to make her way to us. I wasn't wowed by the food, but I love Mera's concept and their space. I'd be happy to give it another chance to wow me. I'd also be happy to return for mezze/small plates and wine.
