Sparkling water next to Lemon drop martini

I really enjoyed the overall vibe of the place. I came for the wild mushrooms vol-au-vent dish. I had a similar dish years ago and was aiming to experience it again. Unfortunately, the puffpastry wasn't so flaky or as yummy as I had hoped for. However the mushrooms itself were seasoned and flavorful. There are pro/cons to any experience, but the fun had made up for the minor preferences not delivered. The duck confeit appetizer was also a shockingly zesty bite. We split this and I was extremely grateful I didn't come ravished. I would order it again though, even though a small dish. I have not had anything quite like it. We came just as the host was gearing up for the social hour with a live band and some jazzy tunes. This really rounded the experience for me. I think between each of us having a drink, splitting the app and two entrees we were just about a $200sh experience. I appreciate the valet out front as well.

First off, this place is beautiful!! Very moody, dim lighting. This would be a perfect date spot. I also saw they offer private event seating in the back for groups. I did a walk-in with a group of 6 for happy hour on Thursday evening. We were enticed by the espresso martinis! They are only $2 which is insane! They are on the smaller side, but for the price I didn't mind at all. All of us ordered the drink and they came quickly! My tiny gripe is that none of us were offered water. But to be fair, we sat on the other side of the bar (the main bar didn't have enough open seats to sit 6 of us), so maybe we should've been more proactive. I shared food with my group, and almost everything was tasty! I really liked the oysters. The short rib poutine was very flavorful! The meat was tender. The beef sliders were a classic. The truffle fries were also so addicting, I couldn't stop eating them. The only thing I didn't like was the salmon puff. For some reason, it was kind of powdery to me? I will say their food all err on the slightly too salty side for me. And then oh my gosh, the burlesque! I didn't realize they had shows on Thursdays too (I thought it was only weekends). So imagine my surprise when I saw the girls perform! My entire group was shocked but in a good way! The energy was really fun in there. The servers are all very kind too! This is located in Harbor East, so street parking is limited. But you can park at the Little Italy garage for $5, which is what we did. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for happy hour! Dinner and a show can't be beat.

This is my second time going for espresso martini Thursdays. I always have a great time. The drinks and appetizers were exactly what we were looking for. I love their beef tartare!!! It's so flavorful! They were definitely busy but once we got a seat at the bar, the service was great. The burlesque show had great music. I always love the esthetics and low lighting.

Super nice, live music, kind of loud, but I do enjoy it! Beautiful courtyard. Delicious espresso martinis (my first time trying them & it was an excellent first time experience)! The vibe of a jazz bar/club! I enjoyed the quick and great service I received even though it was a busy night. I can't wait to make another visit here when I come back to the area!

I'm only giving the monarque three stars because their singer was so charming. When we walked in she was so welcoming and charismatic. I went there with one of my girlfriends for Valentine's Day weekend and I don't think she fully understood that the monarque is the type of restaurant that you should absolutely have a reservation for. But she insisted that we can just get a seat at the bar. Nope !! As soon as we got there, the bar was filled with every single man who had the audacity to not make a reservation on Valentine's Day for their girlfriend and girls (like us) who are just enjoying Valentine's Day. But that's not even the point of the story. The monarque has a speakeasy between them and Tagliata. There was a 45 minute wait so we put our names down and grabbed a drink at the Monarque. When we get the call and go back to the speakeasy, we asked for a menu they were like "the only menu we have to offer is the Valentine's Day menu because the kitchen is backed up". ONE that makes absolutely no sense. No sense at all. I can understand if I was actually dining in monarque but at a speakeasy that means you just have like small bites at the very least. They're literally cheating people out of so much money. On the Valentine's Day menu six oysters is $45 (SIX that's not a typo) but on the dinner menu it's $24. They even had potato and leek soup, potato and leeks. These aren't even popular vegetables. $30 ??? Get out of my face like that's just heinous. That's absolutely heinous not to mention they put ingredients like pachouli and Bergamot in their cocktails. I don't want a musky drink. The mental gymnastics I had to do to find a drink that didn't taste like a monkeys armpit is ridiculous. And I can afford it, but I won't pay for bs. That's all I gotta say about monarque. I was excited to go, and then I was severely disappointed....... But that's not to say I won't give them another try for like a date night when I have a reservation.

this place exceeded my expectations. I will admit it was a bit hard to find nestled in between two other restaurants but very cute ambiance on the inside. A perfect spot for a date night, and or girls night out. Our server recommended amazing choices and they were cooked to perfection. To our surprise they also had a burlesque show and entertainment which was first for me. I will definitely be back!

Filet mignon and La Vie en Rose cocktail - A restaurant table features a large white plate with 'MONARQUE' printed on the rim, holding a filet mignon topped with greens, four dollops of mashed potatoes garnished with chives, and a brown sauce. Surrounding the plate are two glasses of water, a pink cocktail in a coupe glass, and two tall glasses with mint leaves and lime slices. The setting suggests a fine dining experience with elegant presentation and a variety of beverages.

Went here for my birthday dinner and the atmosphere was incredible. Dimly lit with live music, cabaret, and impeccable food and drink. Waiter was attentive and sweet, they brought out my dessert with a candle to celebrate my birthday. Had such a great time!

As always Monarque was very classy with an amazing ambiance. The service was impeccable and the food and drinks were excellent. My friends and I shared the Lyonnaise salad, short rib gnocchi, duck confit, and the braised short rib. Every dish was decadent.

La Vie en Rose $17 - A black cocktail glass filled with a pinkish beverage and garnished with edible flowers is positioned on a white marble table. Next to the glass is a cocktail menu from Monarque, featuring a vintage-style illustration and the word 'COCKTAILS' at the top. The background includes a wooden panel, indicating an indoor bar or restaurant setting.

I highly recommend coming here for cocktails in the service, but NOT the food. FOOD: Bone marrow appetizer ($21) 5/5 - 2 pieces of bone marrow with figs and blood orange slices (I think?) on top. It came with bread and a mustard dip. It was probably the only well-seasoned item and decently sized portion for the price. Burgundy Escargot ($20) 4/5 - good garlic flavor and tender to the bite. It topped with breadcrumbs for a slight texture. The Dijon butter was a little overwhelming making the dish overly oily. Wagyu Coulette ($42) 1/5 - had to send this dish back. Wagyu typically has a high fat content, making it a very tender and a melt in your mouth piece of meat. What I got was incredibly chewy with a lot of connective tissue. The dish it self was also very salty. I was pretty shocked at what was served in front of me. The plating was messy as well (see picture). Swordfish ($38) 2/5 - the swordfish fillet was very dry and salty. The celeriac purée had a bitter taste to it. Once again, the plating was messy - not what I expected from an Atlas property. Cauliflower gratin ($16) 2/5 - this side dish was once again, like most other dishes, very salty and had too much cheese to cauliflower ratio. A gratin is supposed to have a crispy layer on top from being broiled - this side dish completely lacked that. Charred octopus ($33) 2/5 - the octopus was cooked okay - it still had a bit of a bite. The main disappointment in this dish was not only the portion size, but the eggplant purée, which did not complement the octopus at all. The eggplant purée was salty and had a weird smoky flavor to it. What I did like about this dish was the spiciness from the harissa - unfortunately, there was only three small dots of harissa on the plate. COCKTAILS: I highly suggest trying their cocktails. They are all unique and have great flavor profiles. If you're looking for something sweet and light, I recommend the La Vie en Rose ($17). For something a little more tropical and citrusy, I recommend the Betty Page ($19). It's still a sweet cocktail, but a lot richer in flavor. To end the night, they have a pretty good Espresso Martini ($15.50). SERVICE: Although this review has three stars, I do wanna applaud the service. Our server, Brooksie, was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu items and drinks. She was very attentive to our table. Besides the cocktails, her service was the highlight of our experience. AMBIANCE: Monarque was giving Moulin Rouge-vibes. They had a Burlesque show. Unfortunately, despite many tables being empty, we were seated behind a huge pole and right next to a birthday party of over 10 people. We could not really watch the show nor hear each other in conversation without yelling. Unfortunately, because I sent the Wagyu Coulette back, it took a while to bring out my next dish. As a result, I ended up eating it alone while my partner had to sit and wait for me to finish. It was not how I expected to spend our special dinner date.

We've been here twice - once for dinner on a non-burlesque night and once for happy hour at the bar then the show - and it was great both times! The food is well made and delicious, the drinks are good, and it's a fun time! I definitely recommend Monarque and I plan to bring the next guests who come to visit us here!

A dessert in a white ramekin with a fluted edge, topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and sprinkled with crumbs. A heart-shaped chocolate decoration is placed on top of the whipped cream. The ramekin is set on a Monarque-branded plate with a red napkin underneath, on a wooden table. A glass of wine is partially visible in the background.

We dined here for Valentine's Day and experienced the pre-fixe menu and V-day show, which were all amazing. The service by the waitstaff was also grand and over the top, they made sure we were treated well and comfortable. Ambiance was truly that of an intimate upscale restaurant, I would return!

    Empechement - So delicious!

We celebrated our 15-year wedding anniversary at Monarque, and it was a truly special evening. When I made the reservation, I noted some dietary requests -- my husband is an executive chef with a limited palate, and I've become more sensitive to salt. I really appreciated how attentive the staff was to our needs. They sat us at a fantastic table with a great view of the show, and from start to finish, the service was warm and professional. Though it was restaurant week, we chose to order from the regular menu. We shared the truffle fries as an appetizer -- perfectly crisp and flavorful, and my husband especially loved the garlic aioli that came with it. I had the French onion soup and the tableside steak tartare, both of which were excellent. The tartare was beautifully prepared and well seasoned. My husband ordered the truffle half chicken, asparagus, and potato au gratin. While he thought the chicken was slightly on the salty side -- likely due to a brine -- he found that pairing it with the more subtly seasoned potatoes created a nice balance. Everything was well-cooked and plated with care. I also enjoyed two cocktails: La Vie en Rose and L'Empêchement. Both were delicious, but L'Empêchement was the standout for me. Interestingly, it tasted like it had coconut milk in it, even though that's not listed on the menu -- I didn't catch much tarragon or peach, but it was still a lovely and creamy drink that felt like a twist on the original. I suspect they may have used a brown butter-infused bourbon, which gave it an added depth. And of course, the burlesque show -- our first time seeing one -- was absolutely delightful! The performers were talented and entertaining, and it added a lively, fun energy to the entire night. Overall, Monarque gave us a memorable anniversary evening with great food, attentive service, and an unforgettable show. A strong 4 stars -- and we'd definitely return.

Escargot and steak tartare. - Bar counter with a small cast-iron dish, a round plate with a single piece of food, and a menu, accompanied by various cocktails including a pink drink and a cocktail with a lemon wedge. The background features a blurred bar with bottles and bar tools, indicating a lively bar setting.

I'm giving this a 4... I really want to give it a 5 but it fell short on a couple things. The ambiance, impeccable... different types of seating depending on the type of night you're having but a cabaret/burlesque is never going to be meant for a small group so I'll always suggest intimate small 2-5 people to really sit and experience this the way you need to. The back area (which I saw an another review say they sat it) is not ideal for the "show" it's a great space just not for viewing. The bartenders were very knowledgeable and willing to make things off menu and riffs on classics - each drink better than the last! Food did fall short a bit so consistent with some of the other reviews here. "Table-side steak tartare" not sure what made it table side but it was just served to us as a plate. Tasted great though! Escargot was a bit salty for my taste and felt like it was covering up something instead of elevating. The entertainment was top notch so much class and art that it didn't feel like a "show" but an experience.

When we arrived, we were seated right away, but it seemed like there were very few staff working--possibly only one waiter. It took about 10 minutes before we finally had to flag him down just to place our order. The food then took around 25-30 minutes to come out, which felt very long since we were on a tight schedule for our flight. When the food finally arrived, I ordered the macaroni and cheese, and unfortunately it was the worst mac and cheese I've ever had. I don't want to be mean, but it was very bland and really needed salt. My sister surprisingly liked it, but it just wasn't for me at all. The rest of my family did enjoy their meals, and I thought the fries were decent, just lightly seasoned. My mom especially liked the grilled cheese. The waiter himself was nice and kept our drinks refilled, so I don't think the long wait was entirely his fault. The restaurant is very cute inside with cozy, old-style vibes and festive Christmas decorations, which I really liked. However, between the long wait times, the limited menu, and my disappointing mac and cheese, I wouldn't recommend that dish. Overall, it's a charming place, but the service was too slow for us--especially when trying to catch a flight.
