Among the other problems - see prior review - they never responded/reimbursed me my $350 annual fee (a fee I had refused IN WRITING) so I clawed it back with VISA and after 3 months, it's officially mine. My first contact was with Eddie the inspector and he was very thorough and showed me all of the possible spots the rodents were getting in. He's really a pleasure to work with. When I decided to do the rodent exclusion, Rudy came and did a great job. I chose to do the trapping myself for the creatures still left inside-humanely-using AB live traps that I found on Amazon. It takes patience and a few weeks. My personal public service announcement: If you choose to do the kill method, please do not use poison (other animals can ingest and die) and use high quality traps that kill instantly. It's worth paying for the rodent exclusion even though it feels expensive. Trust me. The goal is to prevent rodent infestations in the first place and they can get in anywhere! A few follow-up appointments were required and I've been very satisfied. Their follow-through and customer service is excellent. read more

My husband and I have been updating our home over the last couple of years now and decided it was time to inspect for termites after noticing deterioration of our attached pergola in the front courtyard, eaves and a space in our living room. After reaching out to them with our concerns, the bugman quickly scheduled Ben C. to conduct an initial assessment of our property. Ben was very professional, punctual, communicated with me throughout the duration of the inspection, answered all of my questions and gave me very detailed information on next steps to rid and protect our home from termites. Soon after our initial assessment and decision to move forward, Mario M. was scheduled as our technician to rid our home of both drywood and subterranean termites (gross!). The subterranean damage was extensive and Mario made sure to thoroughly treat all areas of our home as well as answer any remaining questions I had. Both representatives were great and we would be happy to have them treat our property again. We have used The Bugman for years, both at our Laguna Niguel home and our current San Clemente home. We have subscribed to their annual contract services for the past 15+ years for both homes. Their service over those years has been good, or so we thought. We decided to sell our San Clemente home and a termite inspection report was required as part of the escrow process. The Bugman conducted the annual inspection in June and it was now August when we decided to sell. We thought there would be no problem with the report. When Jason from The Bugman arrived at our door and announced he was here for the "Escrow" inspection, something just didn't sit well with me. I thought, is this a different inspection from the normal ones they do on our contract? After Jason spent almost 30 minutes just under the eaves of our garage, it didn't feel right. Normally they would be done with their entire inspection in this time or slightly more. I asked Jason what was going on. He seemed like he didn't know what I meant. I told him normally the guys come through and give it a lick and a promise compared to what he was doing. He told me they have had issues with other inspectors not doing a proper job. That's not my problem, I thought. After an hour of banging holes and further damaging the wood around my home Jason presented his findings. Their recommendation was $4000+ to tent the house, plus an additional $8500+ of wood work. I was astonished. I asked him how that could be when our June report (only two months prior) was relatively clean. Again, he hemmed and hawed about how they had inspectors not doing the proper job. Again, not my problem. We pay for the annual contract service to avoid this type of situation. Jason and I walked around the house and he pointed out the damage. He pointed out an area on our back deck, the main structural beam, needed to be replaced due to water damage. Huh? This was never called out in the June report and there has been no rain in the last two months. My wife spoke to several people in management at The Bugman. Everyone she spoke to didn't see any issue with shoddy service they provided. The bottom line is The Bugman will hold you hostage if you use them for an Escrow inspection, and their annual service is not thorough. They know you need to get a clean bill of health to close escrow. They held us hostage. I will never use or recommend them ever again. This is a warning to all of you that are considering using them. Having our unit checked over due to rodents and explaining to them issues happening within our kitchen under our sink , most activity centered around in drawers as well urine and mice poop. So far so good. TONY was the inspector that came out to assess wth was going on and confirmed our suspicions. He explained things, provided options, took pictures to show us what we couldnt see, provided opportunities for questions and made himself available for follow ups. He ensured some clerical things were completed before we signed off on contracts. Because he was so thorough, we finally decided in going w bugman. ART and DANIEL were our wood repair guys. There was some damage was not on the original contract since it was not visible until they removed the gutter. Art was communicative and fixed it all wout incident. He takes initiative to ensure things were done properly. While removing an old satellite our screen got damaged and he fixed it. He also made sure that he showed what work was done before they left. Again, explaining what they did and how they did it. We also signed up for the bimonthly pest service. We were w someone before and after being at home due to covid it was apparent they did nothing. This was evident from the massive mounts all over our back yard and what the bugman tech JORGE identified as fire ants. He explained how he knows they are fire ants vs other pests, explained what needed to be done, and before he left provided tips for keeping them at bay. Its been a couple weeks since he was here but the yard is now useable. Now the last part is tenting. I am hoping it goes smoothly just like the rest of the services rendered. read more

I have read lots of previous reviews and I am sure it is great company. But personally I would recommend you shop around more before you use The Bugman . When sales / closer arrived and did an estimate, I was given quite a high price , he said the reason because it was going to talk all day to do a termites treatment . But when I was making an appointment, I was told that it takes 2.5 hours only . So he pretty much lied to me in order to justify cost of hourly labor . But anyway, later on I found company to do the same treatment for half of the price. Good luck . read more

So far I'm not impressed with their service. Sat here for two hours waiting for them to show up and no one did. After I called to find out where they were, first I was told that I was not on the schedule, then I was informed that the technician went home due to a family emergency and that I was scheduled for the next day. I asked why I wasn't informed and the lady said "I don't know" then she told me that I was scheduled for the next few Tuesdays when I am supposed to be down for Monday's. How can you possibly run a business with no communication with the client? Ridiculous. Addendum: 7/22/19 Sat here again for two hours and no one showed up. I love your company so much that I have to talk about it! If I was paying for this and not my landlord, I would be asking for a full refund. You might think twice about having an exterminator come to perform wood repairs due to pest damage...we did. We were absolutely thrilled with the work that Jesse Saldana and his crew did. Tony Rubalcava put in a new door and frame, and Jesse and Rudy replaced main beams, decking, and fascia. They even filled in some areas that weren't necessarily pest related but with extra material and opportunity put in the effort. We're visiting our daughter in Irvine and happened to be at the house when Isaiah Chairez from The Bugman visited for the annual inspection. Isaiah was courteous, professional and went the extra mile to explain to us what he was doing. We mentioned that we thought we heard scratching in the attic crawl space and he took the initiative to climb up to the second floor, detach the exterior grate, inspect, set traps and then re-secure with new set of screws. Working with them on an escrow currently. They are the HOA's preferred vendor for pest control. First the things that I don't love: They have a minimum service fee. We struggled with communication at first figuring out which kind of service was required and how to schedule. Part of that was because of a new employee. Was given a 2 hour time frame in which the inspector would arrive, which seemed long. Now the good: Inspector (Jason A.) showed up during the scheduled time on the early side. My inspector was thorough, called when he was on his way, had lots of experience. Also important to me was that he said that as far as the experience as an employee goes, this is the best he has been treated at any company he has worked for in 15 years. He immediately showed me what he had found, and gave me a copy of the diagram and service agreement on the spot. My escrow time period is short, so they were able to get me an appointment very quickly, even though very busy right now, and got me a report by the next day. Special thanks to Lori for working hard to squeeze in an appointment, and Mary for coordinating the scheduling for me. Giving a 5 star review because even though there were some glitches, they were able to resolve them for me, and meet the time frames required. Would use again. read more
