The crab cake was nothing special, the Mahi Mahi was extremely extremely dry and overcooked I would not get it again. But I really loved the Mac n cheese it was creamy and superseded my expectations. I really enjoyed my visit here. We dined outside. The view near the water is amazing. You can see the boats enter and docked. We arrived around 1:30 in the afternoon. They start happy hour at 12noon. Imagine that. I was driving so I stuck with the Expresso Martini mocktail. My gf had the real deal alcohol included lol. The food was good. Thanks to Heather the wait staff. I loved the salmon BLT. Nice view off the dock, was really nice while we were there! Storm forced us inside, where we sat at the bar and enjoyed our drinks while the rain came in. Everyone was very friendly! They have TVs all over so great for watching sports, and they quickly changed the channel when requested. Drinks were yummy, we tried the orange crush and broken oar lager (on HH they are $5 and $3 respectively!). Food we did the chips and dips (queso, guac, and salsa)- the chips might have been a little stale but the guac was phenomenal. Sushi we did the Ripken roll and the samurai roll. My friend and I met here for a girl's night happy hour and we had a great time, even on a snowy night! The location is beautiful overlooking Nabbs Creek, which flows into the Patapsco. The marina is tucked away into the trees on a long winding road and the view is gorgeous when you pull in. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, they all took care of us and made sure we were taken care of every time they passed by. For drinks, I had their three mocktails and they were delicious. My friend had the same drinks but with alcohol and we really liked sipping on them and chatting. We split the crab dip pretzel and fried pickles, which really hit the spot. I also got the Broken Oar Burger and the chicken Caesar salad wrap to go. I ate them with my husband when I got home and they were super yummy with lots of flavor. The evening I got lost and found myself here, the place was bustling with patrons, and almost everyone opted for outside seating under the bright sky and crisp evening air. Cod was a decent size, but I dont care for too much grease. I prefer them flaky and flavorful. The chips were light and addicting lol! If you like smokey mezcal, definitely try their pineapple crush here. Strong 14oz. and great balance of sweet! I enjoyed the live music at the venue. The crowd here is full of locals and that vibe! Outdoor seating weather permitting is abundant, and I can see why it can get crowded. I appreciated the many well-behaved furbabies hanging out on deck the day of my visit! Accessibility is available to the outdoor space and bar. The ramp is located right before the steps to the restaurant entrance. Both indoor and outdoor bars are available. it's been a while since we've eaten here. Lucked out with a table in the shade on a busy summer Friday night. Major props to our server Kurt. He was on top of it. Started with calamari which I forgot to get a pic of. Our personal calamari taster (bougie 10yr old) gave a solid 4 out of 5. He then raved over his mozzarella sticks. We agreed they were superior. Hubby got the buffalo chicken wrap with tots. A healthy serving of tot! I got the field salad with salmon. A huge piece of salmon that was well cooked on a super fresh salad. This evening was my third time visiting The Broken Oar. Other times, we came during the week. Today we wanted to meet some friends to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. We arrived around 6:30pm and it was very busy and had a wait of 30 minutes. No problem! We scored one bar seat and another became available. For some reason, they didn't allow anyone to self-seat at all the open bar area tables. But okay, we will happily follow their procedures. It became significantly less busy at 7:30 and our group was all present. The street corn quesadilla was a 10/10! The drinks met our expectations. The hostesses were great. One bartender, unfortunately not the one we were working with, was a rockstar. However, the remainder of the service left a lot to be desired. The order in which customers were served didn't make sense, skipping over people in our small group at the bar, and forgetting items. Two people in our party asked why we brought them there and left early directly related to the poor service they received. I said to my boyfriend "maybe someone called out and she's making a sacrifice to help behind the bar" when someone said she shouldn't be behind the bar. That's the kind of grace I think everyone should be given. Bartender was not well versed in available items, which brought about the largest downfall of the visit. $80 charge for 4 shots of Don Julio when my boyfriend decided on rail after the bartender wasn't sure what was available, then checked and gave options, and my boyfriend asked for rail. She brought them and asked if we wanted limes, he said yes and she brought the limes. Just our tab was $332 (plus the tabs our friends had for other purchases) and when both my boyfriend and myself brought to her attention that we asked for rail tequila, not Don Julio, she said "I didn't hear that", and that was that. Her 20% tip was included on the bill as a service fee so she was whole and we unjustly paid the price for the error or her misunderstanding, whatever it may be. We put $10 in the juke box and after a couple of songs, a DJ arrives. Okay, no problem we'll eat that little loss. We were the only people to tip the DJ, I believe $15. All that to say, we're not throwing thousands at this place but we were happy to pay for everything we requested. I was really upset leaving with an $80 charge for top shelf shots we didn't request. My boyfriend is a long time bartender and knows the difference in pricing between rail top shelf; he didn't ask for Don Julio. It's really discouraging that this was not made right; as a long time professional in the customer service field, I work really hard for my money and I was taken advantage of without any attempt to make it right. read more

A great place by the water to have lunch or dinner. The prices are reasonable and the service was good. We ordered the brussel sprouts. They are deep fried with a glaze of balsamic, bacon and goat cheese. I asked for more glaze and cheese which made it much better. The portion was large for the price. I went to the Broken Oar for dinner last weekend when they had live music. We checked in and requested a table on the patio and were told it would be a 30 minute wait. Fortunately, it did not take that long. We were greeted promptly by our friendly server who took our drink and appetizer order. I got a canned beer and my husband ordered a grapefruit crush. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks with extra marinara sauce. I really enjoyed them. The patio bar was extremely slow which did not bother us. We were not in a rush during our meal and our server was super upfront and told us that the outside bar was a little backed up. I sooo appreciated her honestly because that is all it takes to ease customers. Most servers would not say anything and just let people wait and wait and wonder if they were forgotten. I had the bacon cheeseburger which old bay chips. I enjoyed my meal. My husband had the Chicken Chesapeake with tots which he loved. He also tried two of the sushi rolls: spicy tuna roll and avocado roll. He said they were not bad. Overall, the experience went well and we will definitely be back at some point soon. read more

My wife and I went for lunch at Broken Oar today (Friday). We have been there previously and we were really looking forward to some sushi. Unfortunately sushi isn't available until 4 PM. They really need to point this out on their website. That was the only downside to the visit. Hostess / Server was excellent. The structure, layout and view outstanding. The draft beer list could be better but it did have a good NEIPA so I was good. The food was excellent. I had the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my wife the Shrimp Salad Sandwich. The homemade chips were also a pleasant surprise. (note - they should have Old Bay / JO's on the table). The value was very good, and they even gave a 10% military discount (always appreciated). Visited The Broken Oar for the first time last weekend and were seated inside to avoid the heat on that day. However, there is a large area for outdoor seating near the dock/waterside that looks like it would be great on cooler days. Our server was very attentive and provided great service. We first started off with the Fried Brussel Sprouts and the Crab Cake Egg Rolls. The Brussel sprouts were good, but the egg rolls were really the star of the day. The crab dip like consistency of the filling paired with the crunchy texture of the egg roll was truly perfect. As for my entrée, I got the crab cake sandwich which was very fairly priced! It wasn't the best crab cake I've had, but it was still satisfying. I got the fries as my side and thought they were well seasoned, but could have been a bit warmer. Others at my table got tater tots which were not good. They came out mushy and more similar to hash browns than tater tots; they were too soggy. There was some live music that my 3 year old loved ! They had a high chair for my 1 year old so in my eyes, kid friendly! I got the salmon BLT and it was good. The Broken Oar is a go to for us, as our boat is at the marina next door. This place offers a step above bar food and sushi. The drinks are also on point. My go to right now is their sushi burrito. I've also enjoyed many a crab cake Caesar salads. Their wraps and burgers are solid as well. The tiki bar outside recently expanded and it's nice being able to sit on the water. Be sure to check out their Facebook page, as they often have events and happy hour specials. Only four stars due to the service being spotty.
