The menu doesn't change weekly, just a few items are added or removed. The service when you have questions or concerns with the bill is awful. The owner becomes beligerent and condescending. I can't in good conscience recommend this place seeing how it was such a vastly different experience from the first visit to the second.

We have been eating at Sam and Maggies since they opened in 2022. The food is extraordinary at prices that you can't find this kind of food for anywhere, especially in the Baltimore/DC corridor! I am talking about food that is fresh, unique, delicious and lovingly plated. Beyond that the service is excellent, the wait-staff members are kind, attentive and prompt. The whole family pitches in here too from Dad & son chefs, dessert from wife Liz and friendly reservations and hosting by mom! They have treated everyone in our party on every visit like family from Day 1. This is one of our favorite places to eat! And, although we did not know anyone when we started visiting here, we quickly grew to know names, details and receive kindness from everyone we came in contact with. This is truly like "Cheers" where everybody knows your name! Some reviews on here imply otherwise, but I cannot even IMAGINE being treated poorly here. I was not there this weekend (had to work), but I can say that I have never seen a raised voice or rudeness in ANYONE at Sam and Maggies in the 3 years we have been frequenting the establishment. The venue IS in a busy marina where it is not safe for minors to run around unattended. Water is everywhere and with so many tragedies on the water, I can see where a sense of urgency might be needed to keep parents aware that this is not a venue for running around. I CAN imagine the owners worried about minors wandering off restaurant property into the marina area or dock area and becoming very upset when this had previously been communicated. The restaurant sits on private marina property and does not have the use or expectation of use for marina facilities (although it does have the BEST sunset on the patio!). To label this family as "rude" seems a bit reactionary. It's OBVIOUS that the restaurant does not allow for wandering as the entire patio is fenced in (customers have to come inside the restaurant to be seated on the patio and leave the same way).

I saw a few posts on FB and realized I'd never heard of this place. Followed instructions and got reservations at 7pm. It's buried down in the Dena but in a gorgeous marina. West facing so we got great sunset views. It was raining so we couldn't eat outside but looks like a nice spot. Drinks: margarita and goose island ipa (bottled) Solid margarita. Very refreshing. Would have loved a salt rim. Good island is good stuff. Apps: Korean spiced cauliflower. Mmmm so good. Just a kick of spice. Very tasty. Mains: crab cake and the pork tacos. Hubby loved the tacos and the chefs own hot sauce but you only get three small ones. Y'all. I got a crab cake. You know I don't usually go for that. It was so good. Lots of lump crab. The corn and pablano salsa was delish. And the roasted potatoes and asparagus were very tasty. Not heavy at all. The anarchistic child got the burger. It had some kind of sauce on it. Probably a good one but our kid is our kid so.... Dessert: ok we got both of them. The spiced brownie and the island bread pudding. The hubby actually moaned outloud over the bread pudding. You all know he's not a dessert guy. I do love bread pudding so went with the brownie. Def spiced but with the cream and fruit, perfectly balanced. Great service from Kendal. Very impressed. My only advice would be to specify on the kids menu for our overly picky eaters and (sadly) add something a hair blander. It's heresy, I know.

So happy to have found this hidden gem! Views are beautiful. Was immediately greeted upon arrival. The service was spot on. The food was delicious. Steak tacos were amazing! Wish the portions were bigger though. Drinks were refreshing. Everything tasted fresh. We will definitely be returning!

What a wonderful meal! The patio has a perfect sunset view of the marina and the crab cakes were excellent. The staff are all friendly and attentive. Wish I was local so I could frequent this place weekly during the summer.

Smoked Fish Dip & Korean Cauliflower

While searching for the best place to eat on the water, Sam & Maggie's popped up as a suggestion. I'm do glad it did. Our dinner was amazing, from appetizers to dessert. My husband loved the smoked fish dip, and the Korean Cauliflower had just the right amount of spice. After hearing the backstory of the Surf & Turf Burger from Chef Jake when he stopped by our table, we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint! Finished our meal with the Spiced Brownie. We dined outside on the patio and the view of the sunset was breathtaking. We were told the menu changes weekly, so we know we will definitely be back to try another one of their delicious offerings!

Went for a beautiful sunset dinner at Sam & Maggie's. It is a little bit out of the way but worth the drive. First off I heard reservations were recommended so I made a reservation for 8pm. I called ahead so we didn't have to worry about waiting. I was excited I asked for an outside table with a view and ended up with a great view of the sunset and marina right away. To start I had the Spicy pineapple margarita and it was a perfect blend of sweet (but not too sweet) with a little kick (as far as spice and amount of alcohol). Highly recommend! We got the chicken skewers as an appetizer and I ate one before I got my picture it was so good. The chicken is seasoned well without being salty. Many restaurants over-season these days. I also love the grilled pineapple that came with it and the avocado cream sauce. I had the shrimp and polenta for dinner along with Brussel spouts. The shrimp were excellent size and had a nice seasoning and bacon. Sometimes shrimp can be rubbery like they microwave them but this was perfect. The Brussel sprouts had a nice char but were not over cooked or burnt. My husband had the crab cake and it had no filler! I stole a bite and wish I had more! I was worried the asparagus might be over cooked but it still had some crunch. His corn salsa had a real kick to it so be ready. We both liked it but if you don't like spicy (jalapeño I guess) it might be too much for you. My son had the burger and he thought it was great. Although he is not a pineapple guy so he pulled it off. And finally dessert was a decadently rich chocolate brownie. It had some nice fresh berries with it and I loved the combination. Overall I would say it had great service and wonderful food! It is definitely a special occasion place because it is pricey but it was a good value IMO. I thought the food tasted fresh and was seasoned well. I will go again!

We actually arrived around noon time so we were the first ones there. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and the buffalo wings. Which came with celery and your choice of dressing. The food was average. Nothing to brag about but I would return to try the crab dip. I heard it was good and I am a fan of any cheese crab dip. I enjoyed my wings. The fried green tomatoes could have been cooked a little longer to suit my taste but it wasn't bad. Just a little hard to cut through with the knife. I'm interested in trying out their early evening. To see if they have any happy Hour specials. I loved the service that was received. So I would definitely return.

But honestly, we thought it became too expensive over the years (maybe I'm just getting old). With that said, I sat at the bar (service was excellent), and ordered the 16 ounce prime rib, $55, with a Caesar salad and sweet potato, and mozzarella cheese sticks to start (~$10). I ordered a tea to drink, but requested a beer (~$8)with the steak. Total bill was ~$80. The prime rib was ordered and delivered medium rare, and was by far one of the best steaks I've had in probably three years. It honestly could've been cut with just the fork, no knife required, and was well seasoned. The sweet potato mash was well seasoned, without being over seasoned. And the Caesar salad was super crisp, and I happen to like creamy Caesar dressing. The mozzarella cheese sticks look like they're hand dipped (not sure) and very good. And delivered with extra marinara per request. The bartender even remembered to pour the Sam's seasonal beer (winter something, it was not the typical winter lager which i like as well) when the steak was delivered. I did not have to ask. That was really nice. Also, I did not have to ask for a refill on the tea, it just magically appeared. Plus, the appetizer, the salad, and the steak, we're all delivered at the right timing intervals. I did not feel rushed, nor do I have to wait. So, was it expensive? Maybe a little bit. But the service made up for it, and that's all the difference.

The service was great, friendly and fairly fast for such a large group. Unfortunately that was the only good aspect of this. The drinks were served in plastic disposable cups. Very wasteful. If I had known I would've just brought my own reusable water bottle. When the food came, several burgers were cooked incorrectly. I got a veggie and cheese quesadilla and the buffalo cauliflower appetizer. The quesadilla was alright but way too oily. It was basically sopping in oil. The sides of pico and sour cream came in tiny plastic containers and seemed store bought; the sour cream was separated with overly thick cream surrounded by liquid. The cauliflower was supposed to be "flash fried" (whatever that means) but it was honestly terrible. Soggy and mushy and soaked in a super strong buffalo sauce. The other people in the group who ordered burgers commented that their food was dry. This place honestly should be treated as a bar where you'll come to drink their extensive offering of alcohol. If you walked in blind, you honestly wouldn't even guess they specialize in seafood -- that's how clean and fresh the environment felt. Major points for that alone. Now let's get into the food. I started with the cream of crab soup. The portion was solid and there were huge chunks of crab throughout, which I definitely appreciated. However, the base itself just wasn't to my liking. The crab was there, but the flavor profile didn't quite hit for me. For my entrée, I ordered the oyster platter with two sides -- regular fries and coleslaw -- and added a shrimp basket because when you're at a seafood spot, you might as well go all in. The meal definitely satisfied my hunger, but if I'm being honest, it tasted more boxed and frozen than freshly battered. That homemade, crispy, just-dropped-in-the-fryer feel wasn't quite there. On the bright side, the fries were good -- hot, crisp, and dependable. The coleslaw was exactly how I like it: balanced, not too sweet, not too heavy on the mayo. Where they truly shine is customer service. The staff was accommodating, friendly, and very helpful throughout the visit. Service can make or break a dining experience, and they definitely delivered on that front. Overall, while this visit didn't completely wow me food-wise, the cleanliness and service alone are enough for me to give them another shot. I'll be back to try something different and will happily update my review. Stay tuned.
