Mushroom mousse

First timer. Sat at the bar outside. The mushroom mousse was outstanding. Honestly one of the top 10 foods ive ever eaten. Amazing. The seafood risotto dish was also very good. Husband had the chicken spatzell which was also very good. Finished with the fried apple rings and yum!! Bar tender was outstanding, friendly helpful and sweet. We will definitely be back. Such a unique menu!!

One of the best designed restaurants I've ever been to - immediately met with beautiful architecture and design, along with thoughtful touches to make the experience that much better. Perfect outdoor area for seating and activities, ample parking, the inside is equally fantastic with food and beverages to look forward to. Unfortunately the food was consumed quicker than I could get photos of but everything is always delicious - especially the pretzel with cheese. The staff is very kind, attentive, and enhance the experience that much more. This is not the first, second, or final trip to Garten and as always, I look forward to my next visit!

Crab Rangoon Pretzel Okay amount of crab. The pretzel was burnt which threw off the flavor a tad. Overall decent. Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich Fried a nice brown. Crunchy outside, the thin cutlet on the inside could've been a bit thicker to have a better meat to bread ratio. Soft potato roll. Plenty of pickles. Good sandwich over all. Fries were good and golden brown. Love the ambiance. Extremely cute decor. Excellent service which is nice since a 4% service charge is included. While it didn't feed my soul, maybe it feeds yours?

My husband and I were driving back from Easton to Baltimore yesterday and wanted to grab a bite to eat on the drive back - somewhere we hadn't been before between Annapolis and Baltimore (anything after the Bay Bridge was in our rearview). I was scrolling through Resy and saw Garten. I hadn't heard of it, so I looked it up and I was charmed. So we made a reservation and stopped by for an early dinner. What a place. It's a German biergarten style restaurant. The interior was beautiful as well (we saw it when we went inside to get seated), but we couldn't resist sitting outside on a pretty day, because their "garten" area is so charming (covered, with fans when it's hot, an outdoor bar, picnic tables). They had a great menu of wines, beers, and cocktails. My husband had a Hefeweizen, and I got a glass of Hungarian wine (more on their wine program later). Both were great. For food, we were stumped a bit - that happens sometimes when you want everything. We ultimately decided on their burrata starter (with chili cruch, mandarin segments, and toasted bread), their Caesar (classic but with pretzel croutons for a German biergarten touch), and a special of the day - Chicken Vodka Spätzle (spätzle tossed in a vodka tomato cream sauce with crispy chicken cutlets and melted mozzarella). Everything was great. The spätzle special was so fun - a sort of German/Italian fusion that totally worked. Totally crave-able. The service was great, too. So it was just a lovely, comfortable, delicious meal. One I'd be happy to repeat. It was just such a relaxing environment, a really special place. On our way back out to our parked car, we noticed a different entrance to the building that said "bottle shop," so we obviously had to stop by. The staff member who worked at the wine shop (their sommelier) was really friendly and helpful, and we left with 9 bottles (we're stocking up a bit in case of tariff effects on European wines). She took quite a bit of time to ask us about what kinds of wines we liked and found a bag from their wine club that hadn't been picked up that would allow us to try 6 wines at a really reduced price (I also picked up a bottle of the wine I had with dinner and two more Hungarian wines since I've been interesting in wines from that country lately)! So - great vibes, great outdoor seating, great service, fun and delicious food, and a great beverage program? What's not to love? I look forward to returning.

Had a great time here for lunch. The food is great, love the schnitzel! The restaurant is really nice inside very homey. And the staff is super nice!

Something about this place seems special the moment you drive into the parking lot. I knew the connection with Preserve in Annapolis which is my second favorite restaurant in Maryland (Little Donna's is no 1). We had the scallops, the pickles, the mushroom cheesesteak and i couldn't pass on a Rueben, now forever known as The Rueben! I didn't know this could be elevated this high. It was perfect. It now sets the bar. I cant wait to come back - the menu is awesome. And i hear the gardens in back are amazing in the summer.

The first thing you notice when you pull in is the art on the building and the quaint, welcoming feel of the place. There's live jazz music on Sunday that created a pleasant vibe. Got the Schnitzel Sandwich and the Spring Salad. Both were delicious and filling. I pair them with the Lambrusco Slushie, which you have to trybif you come. I get the impression that the Ice Cream Sandwich can rotate flavors, but man was this good! The bar only seats 4, but the bartender was sweet and attentive. This is definitely a spot I'd regularly come back to.

Nighttime ambiance

Would I come back here again? Absolutely I'll give this place a 10/10. Atmosphere was really good and Food was also delicious! Servers were also all super chill which I liked. Didn't feel too serious, casual meal with a touch of class! My Fiance and I were looking for somewhere cute and chill to eat, found this place on and it looked so unique. I got the chicken Schnitzel and she got a salmon Ceasar salad. I got 2 beers (RAR - Groove City Hefeweizen and Kostritzer - Schwarzbier) (the Schwarzbier was very similar to a Porter if you are looking for something like that!) Black Lager and the lady a prosecco.

I love to come here for a solo dinner out! I bring my laptop and work while I...sip =) Recently, I sat at the bar with bartender, Spencer. With his recommendation, I ordered the Burrata (September's version with the crunched chili and mandarins). A Caesar Salad with Salmon, Floral Lemonade Nonalcoholic Mocktail and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. All was YUM. This time around, I learned that: On Friday nights at 6:30PM until 9:30PM there is a DJ and on Sunday mornings there is live jazz until 3:00PM. They add 4% "Labor of Love" fee that is added to their checks.

I love the open-air European and coastal vibe of the outdoor dining area. The food was well -seasoned, warm, and took a little while to come out but my family and I enjoyed the ambiance. We came around 530 pm mid-week, wanting to try something new and we were pleasantly surprised at this menu. The mushroom sandwich was a favorite and all the flavors overall were fresh and vibrant. Servers were attentive and checked in regularly. Will definitely be back here to try more.

Finally made it here. Managed to snag a reservation on the fly. Parking is tight but they now have more parking down the road and a free shuttle (but tip the driver!) Taking the shuttle got us either free pretzels or dessert. We opted for the pretzel. So so good. The mustard and the beer cheese. The pretzel was soft but so good. The kid got a grilled cheese which looked really good. I got the brie-wich because I will never turn down brie, apples and fig jam. Hubby got the chicken schnitzel with jaeger sauce. I cleared my plate. Hubby loved his but it was a big serving. Jaeger sauce is a mushroom gravy situation. We skipped dessert but they sounded awesome. Really nice beer and wine lists. Super fancy looking cocktails. Walked thru the garden waiting on the shuttle and a nice woman showed my kid around. Even gave him a ripe tomato. Definitely going back. The outdoor area will be perfect in fall.

Delicious food. Great service and cozy ambiance. Even the outdoor space is comfortable and has a great vibe. The service is spot on and the food is so good. Portions are huge. They have a nice selection of sandwiches as well as starters. The pork is amazing. Don't forget to take a few bottles home with you from their large selection for sale. Reservations are highly recommended. Chicken Pot Pie is so good. I recommend this.

02/20/26 5 Stars **…read more Wife and I were in Annapolis for a doctor's appointment, and afterwards she asked, "Where are you taking me for lunch?" I jumped on Yelp and started searching. I had heard about a seafood place in Severna Park, but I wasn't in the mood for seafood. That's when I came across Betty Lou's. As soon as I looked at the food photos, I knew that's where we were headed. It was about a 20 minute ride from Annapolis not bad at all. Betty Lou's is located in a shopping center. There were a few cars in the lot when we pulled up, but I wasn't sure if they were there for the restaurant or other businesses nearby. When we walked in, there was one person sitting at the bar. We asked if we could sit there, and the bartender (don't remember her name) was very pleasant and welcoming. She thanked us for coming in, and when I mentioned I found the place on Yelp, she explained that everything is made fresh to order. They have an excellent selection of craft drinks on the menu, the assortment of cocktails and wines that look very good. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I had the Jimmy Red Old Fashioned. The drink looked fantastic, and she took her time carefully measuring each ingredient. That's how cocktails are supposed to be made balanced and flavorful, not just tasting like straight liquor. If I wanted that, I'd just order bourbon neat. For lunch, my wife ordered the meatloaf with collard greens and roasted potatoes. I had already decided on the chicken pot pie after seeing it online. I did find it a little strange they don't offer mashed potatoes as a side with meatloaf, that would've made it a home run in my opinion. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The pot pie was larger than I expected compared to the pictures, and the meatloaf was a generous portion as well. After the first bite, I can honestly say it was one of the best chicken pot pies I've had loaded with tender chicken, carrots, onions, celery, and a rich, flavorful gravy. And the pastry crust? The BEST I've ever had. It was big enough that I had leftovers for dinner. My wife's meatloaf was tender and flavorful, and the collard greens were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. The roasted potatoes were just okay again, mashed would've put it over the top but that's just personal preference. She also had plenty leftovers for dinner. The food was great, the décor was nicely done, and the service was excellent. If this place were closer to home, it would definitely be a regular spot for us. We need something like this down in Calvert County. Overall, if you're looking for a great meal and well-crafted drinks, Betty Lou's is absolutely worth the drive even if you live a little ways away.

We visited for the first time last night, Friday June 12,2026 @ 8pm. Based on all of the great…read morereviews I thought we were in for a treat. We were sat pretty quickly & our waitress was great. But half way through she handed us over to the bartender, who just seemed inconvenienced that we were there. My husband had just finished a beer when she took over (which was in a can, not a tap beer), she asked if he wanted another, he said yes, and brought some draught beer that definitely wasn't what he was drinking. We are very easy going, so that wasn't even the end of the world. But she wasn't very friendly so we just went with it. The food. We ordered rockfish bites for an app, chicken pot pie, bacon wrapped shrimp & Mac & cheese. I will say, everything came out quickly. Rockfish bites: Not only were they bland & salt-less, but not all of them were cooked all the way through. The bacon-wrapped shrimp were ok, but cold in spots. The chicken pot pie: This is the reason I came. Certainly you can't mess this up, seeing how my favorite pot pie is from KFC. My standards aren't that high. I wish I could add a photo to a low review. I've never seen the inside of a pot pie that was dark gray. It didn't look appetizing at all, but it's a pot pie so I'm not basing anything on appearance. Once I took a bite I realized that it was gray because there was SO MUCH ground thyme in it. Like they dumped a whole jar in there. It wasn't even edible. The Mac & cheese was really good, I wish I had just ordered that. Before you reply that we should have said something, we already felt like we were an inconvenience to the bartender & she didn't even care enough to serve the same beer that was originally ordered. We didn't even want to deal with her. So we chalked it up as a loss. Of over $100. This place is so cute, we really loved the ambiance & wanted to love the food. We definitely won't be back, but I don't think it's going to be around much longer anyway.

The fried green tomatoes could have been cooked a little longer to suit my taste but it wasn't bad. Just a little hard to cut through with the knife. I'm interested in trying out their early evening. All the outdoor seating was full, and inside there was only one table available. Most of the tables are larger, so we noticed some groups sharing space, which actually worked out fine. The restaurant has a great open-air feel even indoors thanks to the large garage-style door that opens up an entire wall. For drinks, my wife ordered iced tea and I had a Peach Mule. The mule was good, but next time I'd skip the rim garnish. They also have a big beer selection, and the prices seemed very reasonable. For food, we ordered the brisket burger (single patty with cheese, topped with shaved brisket, jalapeño slaw, raw onion, pickles, and sauce). They offer a deal where you can add a side and drink for $5, so we added onion rings and also ordered the Serpent Fries as an appetizer. The fries came out first and looked great and they did not disappoint. Fresh cut with bacon, pico, scallions, and a serpent sauce (seemed like a beer cheese). Really flavorful, I did ask for ranch, which was an extra $0.50. I understand charging for extras, but not everyone uses ketchup or mustard, so that felt a little unnecessary. The burger came out shortly after, and it was excellent. We split it, and it was packed with flavor. Honestly, adding bacon would make it even better a "Triple B" (Bacon, Brisket, Burger) would be perfect. The only letdown was the onion rings. The onions inside were very thin and overcooked, leaving them dried out with little flavor. Even without the over-frying, the onions themselves just didn't have much taste. Definitely something they could improve. Overall, it's a great spot for burgers and fries, and we'll definitely be back for that. We saw other dishes come out that looked good too, so there's more to try next time.
