I visited the Pasadena location of Oscar's Alehouse (one of their four locations) for lunch and had a fantastic experience. I was seated immediately, and the wait staff was personable, attentive, and made the whole visit feel easy and enjoyable. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and very reasonably priced. I was especially impressed by the variety on the menu. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, or a devoted meat lover, there's truly something for everyone. It's rare to find a place that caters so well to different dietary preferences without compromising on quality. I didn't order any alcoholic beverages this time, but their beer selection looked great, with plenty of appealing options for a future visit. Stopped into Oscar's Alehouse yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner and was immediately seated upon entry--always a great start. My server, Travis, was very friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right throughout my visit. I started with a cup of French onion soup, and it was so good that I came back today just to order another cup. That alone says a lot. Yesterday I also ordered the Eldersburg Burger, cooked medium-well, paired with their hand-cut fries. This burger was juicy and flavorful--honestly tasted like something you'd get at a family cookout. The fries were delicious and complemented the burger perfectly. I also have to mention the sweet iced tea--it tastes fresh-brewed and has the perfect balance of sweetness. Today, even though I wasn't very hungry, I tried the crab dip. While it wasn't my absolute favorite, it was still good. I also sampled the carrot cake, which unfortunately was a bit dry for my liking. That said, I'll definitely be back--especially on Mondays, when burgers are $8 (with toppings at $1 each, and totally worth it). My server today also let me know about Wing Wednesday: 1 lb of wings for $8, any flavor. Say less! I'm already planning another visit so I can finally try the cream of crab soup, which is made daily. Typical bar food in Pasadena. Parking is OK. Usually no waiting for a table. Great beer selections. The apps are usually pretty good. The main courses are usually OK. I've had a few misfires here and there over the many times I've been here. Service does great, generally very efficient. Bathrooms are very clean and decorated well. Be it weekends and off hours, I've had pleasant service and nourishing meals at Oscar's. The staff here have all been attentive and quick. I've enjoyed the salads and sandwiches of quality ingredients and all satisfying. The menu covers quite a range of options, plenty to tickle taste buds and some adjustable to your delight. In March 2023, I was in a games Meetup in Glen Burnie, and there were a few occasions, where I went with people afterwards for late dinner. We went down the road on MD-2 to just south of 100 to Oscar's. We all sat at the bar. I went healthier because it was late almost 10 PM. I got a lettuce wrapped burger & side salad instead of fries. This place was awesome and I wish it were closer to my house because I'd be here all the time. This alehouse is huge inside, I wasn't prepared. The bar area is at the center with tables and chairs along the perimeter. It's dark-ish in there but that makes it cozy. Our waitress was attentive despite it taking my friend and I a while to decide what to eat and drink. I ended up with a Loose Cannon, a bowl of the Portuguese soup, and the fried green beans. First, love the atmosphere and the bar! Great selection of beer and liquor. Friendly staff as well. Food: Ordered the Steak (Med Rare) spinach and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were fantastic!! Spinach was well cooked, just needed a little bit of seasoning. My issue was the steak! Cooked perfectly, but no flavor, dry and very chewy, so my issue is with the quality of the steak. Oscar's in Eldersburg was one of our post-covid staples, and this location is very convenient for some of our weekend activities, so we decided to drop in for a late lunch. Not impressed. Server was friendly but preoccupied with her phone (as were the line of servers by the hostess stand). Slow to come by and forgot some details. Food was OK, but uninspired. Around the table, food was often overcooked or just - meh. Beer selection was historically amazing at Oscar's in Eldersburg - not so here. Selection leaned heavy into fruity and sour beers, and they were out of three of the remaining pale ale/ipa styles. Not a good state for an "Alehouse" to be in. The wings tasted fresh, not frozen. They were hot and flavorful. The ranch tasted homemade. The three cheese crab dip was my absolute favorite; the best crab dip I've tasted in a very long time. If you do not like roasted garlic do not eat this. It was full of garlicky goodness and crab meat!!!! It comes with tortilla chips and ciabatta bread that is grilled. I can not justify a 4 star review due to the food being very mediocre this last time. The burgers and Sandwhich options are good. Wings and soups are good. But i decided to order a special. The ribs dry, stuck to the bone. The pile of bbq pork was bland. The little piece of chicken tender was dry. The fries were really good but I got so few of them. The bartender was nice, at first. Very helpful until the shift change /cash drawer change. After the tip she didn't give a crap about service and the guy who stepped in was offended that we weren't happy to see him. I was in town a couple of weeks ago to catch an Orioles game with friends and they said I would enjoy Oscar's as a pregame meal as it was one of their favorite local places. They were right. I was very pleased with every aspect. A warm greeting from the hostess, and prompt, friendly service were just the beginning. They recommended the cheesesteak eggrolls as an appetizer, and they were terrific.... well stuffed and extra crispy with a cheese sauce for dipping....10/10 for sure! While looking over the menu, I almost went with the club sandwich, but my eyes caught the Cuban, which not a lot of places offer, and I jumped at it. The sandwich was perfect....generous portions of ham and roasted pork, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard, all on crispy toasted bread. A nice pile of fresh, hot fries on the side and I was hard pressed to finish it... an excellent meal to be sure! Good food and good portions at decent prices. I've driven by Oscars so many times on route 2 but never noticed it due to how far back the restaurant is from the road. We came in on a Saturday night for dinner and wanted to watch the O's game on the bar tv, so sat at one of the many high top tables in the bar area. There is lots of booth seating as well. My friend ordered a beer from the long list on tap and I got the Huckleberry lemonade cocktail. He liked his beer, though my cocktail was light on the alcohol. There were a decent number of specials and the cheesesteak eggrolls were too good to pass up. Delicious! And a side of queso to go with it. We were expecting 4 pieces but it came with 6, so I was half full before my entree arrived. I got the California salad which was exactly what I was looking for. Cilantro vinaigrette on top was an interesting twist. He ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich that came on their house made "fry bread" (a fluffier pita bread) with rough cut style fries and enjoyed it. The bartenders service the high top area and they did a great job checking in on us. I would definitely return to Oscars, but I would pick something on tap instead of a cocktail next time. read more

I feel bad writing this review, but I'm trying to give honest feedback. I'm usually here for lunch, and sometimes a "happy hour"...When this place is good, it's really good. But damn, it can be frustrating. Bartenders are 80% on point, but when I get that "one", the experience is just frustrating. 2/3 are awesome and when you get the 2/3, you'll know and the visit is awesome. When you get the other, it'll be sporadic service, with only needed interaction and a lot of forgetful service. The specials are regularly delicious and they have a large draft/craft selection. Have visited Oscar's 3-4 times in the last two months. Every visit has been pleasant, good food, good atmosphere, and good bier. But nothing has really stood out. Don't get me wrong, every dish we've tried has benn good with no complaints. But we haven't had the "I'll come back for that!" experience yet. Caution about the burgers. Oscar's cooks over a wood smoke grill and the burgers don't get the sear you might be used to. Can you believe this place opened in October 2020, during a pandemic!? Crazy, but they must have had a lot of faith in their business, and so do I after eating here. It sits back off the highway, so it's not easily seen from the street. Thanks to Yelp, Oscar's made it on my radar. Upon entering I noticed the smoky smell from the wood burning grill that made me feel immediately comfortable and warm. With an open concept, I could see throughout the spacious restaurant from the front door. They had booths, tables and bar seating, with a sports bar theme. There were TVs throughout the bar area playing sports. Great for all ages and occasions. The restaurant was clean, and they are currently operating at 50% occupancy with a mandatory mask policy when not at your seat. We were greeted right away and seated at our table with the menus. As I looked further around the restaurant, I observed there were only a few other people, though several patrons came in for pickup orders while we were there. Shout out to our waiter, "D", who was awesome. He had a noticeably light and friendly attitude while still professional and attentive attitude to out dining needs. As for the menu, they have food and drink specials in addition to their regular menu. They are known for their craft beers sourced from around the nation and their scratch kitchen. I had a difficult time trying to decide what to order. Normally this is a bad thing, however, in this case it was a good thing. There were so many things on the menu that I liked and wanted to try; it was difficult narrowing down my options. I played it safe (for my New Years, eat healthy resolution) and ordered the Black Bean Burger with corn and provolone cheese; it came with a side salad. My mom said the heck with the diet and went for the Oscar Grouper Sandwich, served with fries, however for $0.75 she upgraded to the onion rings. The food had a nice presentation. The bean burger had good flavor, but was a little dry, as bean burgers can be. It could have used a little sauce of some kind that would have really set it off, and or a slice of tomato and lettuce, but otherwise was rather good. My side salad was fresh and the perfect size. The house made balsamic dressing was delicious. All of their dressings and sauces are made in house. My mom was very happy with her grouper sandwich and gushed over the onion rings the entire meal. She just went on and on about how much she loved her meal, and how she had no complaints. The onion rings were really good and sweet. It looked like they used red onions. The batter was light and had good flavor. They have a great menu variety at reasonable prices. Some of the beers can be a bit pricy, but comparable to other craft beer joints if I have to be honest. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal, service and dining experience as a whole. My wife and I went back to Oscars yesterday for lunch. A day later - I'm still thinking about how freaking good the Eldersburger was. Look - you can go anywhere for a cheeseburger, but whatever is happening in Oscar's Ale House kitchen is down right special. The burger patty was the perfect thickness, cooked to a perfect medium for me and medium-well for my better half. The cloud-like light, fluffy but not so much so that it fell apart bun appeared to have spent a few seconds on the grill giving it a lovely char and just a hint of caramelization. The cheese, applewood smoked bacon and get this - a FLAVORFUL tomato, perfectly ripe somehow in the month of march, all complimented the meat and bun perfectly. The fries were crunchy and hot. All in all, great experience, tremendous food quality and cooking and a fun atmosphere. Our server was attentive and polite. We will definitely be back. read more

This is a fantastic local pub with an occasional disappointment but overall excellent food, phenomenal service, and a lively, enjoyable atmosphere. Sitting at the bar on a Sunday with drinks, appetizers, chatting to the bartender makes for a wonderful afternoon. The specials change regularly, offering all kinds of new options while keeping the tasty regular menu. Cream of crab soup is one of the best I've ever tasted. My husband and I stopped in to Oscar's Ale House for the first time. I was told today was day 12 of them being open. We were very happy with the whole experience! Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the hostess. We inquired about open bar seating at which time we were told the bar and hightops around the bar are all first come first serve. We ended up at a hightop since the bar was full. Nikki immediately greeted us and provided us with menus and water. We then ordered a round of beer. The beer selection was extremely impressive! For appetizers we got the southwest eggrolls, spicy calamari and the wings. We were dabating on a wing flavor at which time we were told we could split the wing order into two flavors. That solved our dilemma! We got half buffalo and half old bay. The wings were amazing. Well done, crispy and the flavors were great. The calamari and eggrolls were also great. My husband ordered the pepperoni pizza. He enjoyed it and just mentioned he wished the crust was crispier. Other than that, no complaints. I had the open faced meatloaf sandwich. I loved it but had to pack some to go. I was so full! The gravy was yummy, I wish I asked for a little extra. The manager, Drew, stopped by to say hi and welcome us in. When he found out it was our first time he asked how we heard about them. He was very friendly and was super glad to hear we lived close by and were enjoying everything so far. I saw some previous reviews about the slow arrival of food after ordering. They must have improved because everything came out in a timely fashion at a proper temperature. We are very glad to have a new restaurant in the neighborhood. Everything we had tonight we'd order again although there are plenty more things I want to try on our next visit.
