I've never had a long wait, either to order or for the food to come out, which is always appreciated. The staff has been consistently friendly, and the space itself is clean and well kept. High-top tables, good lighting, moderate noise level--everything feels in order whenever I'm there. Food-wise, Regional keeps things simple, and that's what I like about it. The Cubano sticks to the script and does it right. You really can't lose with it--good flavor, balanced, and just a solid sandwich overall. The smashburger is another no-frills win. Fresh beef, fresh ingredients, and everything complements each other without trying too hard. It's just done right. The cheesesteak isn't something I'd call a true Philly, but in a pinch it definitely holds you down. The meat is seasoned well, with onions, mushrooms, and cheese coming together for an enjoyable sandwich. I appreciate that Regional doesn't overcomplicate things. My only real critique was the roasted potato salad. I paid $3 for a cup, and while it tasted good, there was lettuce stuffed at the bottom to make it look fuller than it was. That rubbed me the wrong way, so I wouldn't order it again. Portion sizes overall are fair, prices feel reasonable, and I like that there's something for everyone on the menu. I've already been back multiple times and will continue to return. It's a good spot when you want to get away from all the fast-food options in the area.

It's large so she generally eats half at a time. Her leftovers are in the photo below. I had then Philly Mushroom today and I ate the entire thing! Yes, I overdid it Big Time! My side was the potato salad. It's actually red potato salad with the right amount of sweetness and not drowned in mayo! In fact it seems like a ground mustard aioli. I'm not sure but it's really good. They now have chicken wings with a variety of sauces to choose from. Of course I had to order smash burgers for my family at home. Do yourself a favor and try Region Ale if you haven't.

When you're told that your ghost tour is going to meet at the square across the street from a…read moreTaphouse, you grab food inside it and savor some incredible beers. It's what you do! And this led to me discovering just how much of a certifiable beer haven Max's is! For a Philly comparison I'd put Max's on the same caliber as Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen but with a beer bible on the same scale as Monk's. It's been a beer haven for going on four decades and it shows with their 100+ rotating taps, 1000+ bottles & cans, a 4 casks that feature plenty of local Baltimore brews alongside the finest from Belgium, Germany, and then some! They even have seasonal special events like a Sour Beer Fest in June, and a Rare & Obscure Beer Weekend in October. The bar interior was classic wood, with a huge main bar that showcased the many brew and spirit options. The bartenders were also spot on with their service and spot on beer suggestions. For food being so close to the waterfront had me craving some seafood, and the rockfish sandwich delivered with its Chesapeake seasoning and remoulade dressing. Each day of the week has a beer special at Max's, and Thursday meant that I was enjoying a discount on full pint cask pours. I liked that Max's had transparent pricing available for 4 oz to large pours and growlers to go on their menu for each and every draft beer, and the 4 oz pours made it easier to enjoy the 11% abv barleywine beer from a Baltimore brewery that I was curious about without feeling some extra inebriated repercussions during my ghost tour. It was extra details like that which had me really enjoying Max's and dubbing it a must visit for any beer lover visiting Baltimore.

The beers are listed by number, but nobody tells you that you're supposed to order that way. I ordered a beer by its actual name, and the bartender acted like I was an idiot for not knowing their system. And nowhere in the restaurant or on the menu does it explain how to order. And numerous other people were doing the same thing. How hard is it to make a sign and/or update your website/menu? On top of that, even if you have a table, you still have to go up to the bar to order. When the place is busy, it's a complete shitshow. You're fighting through a crowd just to get a drink while your table sits empty. Whoever came up with this ordering system clearly doesn't care about being easy to do business with. Terrible setup, and the male bartender Roberts's attitude made it even worse. Our group consisted of two bank CEO's, a law enforcement officer and a senior executive in investment banking. We'll take our wallets and business somewhere else on football Sunday.

We grabbed a seat outside and quickly relocated to one under a fan with all the humidity in the air. If you decide to eat outside please be prepared to walk in the sand. The rain started coming down and we were able to get seated inside before our main entrees came. Our waitress was understanding as we decided to sit inside and out of the rain. My friend ordered the coconut marg and said it was the best coconut marg she had ever tasted. I decided to go with their rockfish bites and their smashburger. The burger was flattened but not traditional smashed with crispy edges like it should have been. I feel like almost every restaurant has now changed their burger to make it a Smashburger which I'm sure is less expensive because it's ground beef you're purchasing in bulk instead of a frozen disc. But I would love for someone to get it right and actually provide crispy edges. There's just something about that char you get from the ground beef. However, I will not be eating any ground beef or beef anytime soon from any restaurant with what's going on. We watched some of the soccer game and somewhat after they had a live band performing. This is definitely a place where they have regulars and is one of those neighborhood bars. A lot of people seemed to know each other and we got a lot of steers. I would definitely come back for the view and it seemed like it might be a good place to watch some sports games as well because their bar was huge.

We were seated quickly, and our server checked in a few times throughout the meal. We ordered a few appetizers to start: the crab dip, fried pickles, and wings; and they were all great. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and well-seasoned. If you come here, the apps are definitely worth it. Plus they served their pickles as chips versus spears, which in my opinion are much better! For my entrée, I went with something simple: grilled chicken with asparagus. Usually, that's a boring choice, but it ended up being one of the better versions I've had. The chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry at all, and had good seasoning. The asparagus still had a little snap to it, which I appreciated. The atmosphere was probably my least favorite part. The dining area felt a bit like a banquet room; it was very open, large, and with fewer tables than you'd expect. It didn't feel as comfortable as you would expect, but it was clean and spacious, so no real complaints there. All in all, the food was good, the service was okay, and while the setting wasn't my style, it's a solid place to grab a bite. I'd go back for the appetizers alone.

But ... so far only one of six dishes/orders was worth talking about. The others were bland and lacking flavor... I'm not done visiting as there are many other dishes I want to try. Chicken BBQ pizza - chicken bits too small, red onions were almost shaved and you could not taste them, BBQ sauce too sweet Fettuccine Alfredo - ok dish but slightly bland and missing something flavor wise. Godfather pizza was decent based on the toppings but the dough had no flavor and the pizza was undercooked. Chicken Parmigiana was crispy but again, lacked flavor, and the tomato sauce was also bland. Now, the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka ... This was a WINNER! Although it wasn't spicy, it is flavorful and there is a white pepper kick finish to the sauce. Everything about this one dish was great!
