It never feels good when you enter an empty business and have to wait and ask for common things. I frequent winery and am accustomed to learning the history of the business and wine. I had to ask for every detail I pulled out the employe. I had to inquire about the naming of the wine, the business, the grapes, the wine club, and so on. More training is needed. Employees have to understand the brand and sell. I had four wines and liked 1, The Neem. Other than that, the decor was nice. Small portion of Jellof and I wouldn't call the meat suya. There was no spice or dusting. Just tough meat. I might venture back on Friday during happy hour. Would love to experience fresh suya (vs the reheated stuff we got) and Afrobeats with a lively atmosphere.

While on the move and outta town my friends and family (Grubbing buddies) stopped by a wine place on the way to dinner. Our server tells us that Clyopatra Winery & Vineyard is the first African owned winery in the United State. The winery looks like a promising up and coming place to go, I do look forward to returning to Clyopatra in the future.

I really enjoyed my visit here. I was able to get the history of how this winery came about. The waiter was very knowledgeable and was able to answer every question I had. The atmosphere was nice and the vibe was amazing esp with the music selection. The food menu is limited(3 options), but the suya and jollof were really good. They do not cook the food in house, it's catered from a local restaurant. I chose to do a wine flight 2 reds, 1 white, and a rosé. Out of the 4, The Mayor(Cab) and the Rosé were my favorite. They have a vast selection of wines to try/buy and they are adding more. They have a membership you can sign up for and the price per tier is very affordable. I will be returning very soon.

Yesterday was the 2nd year anniversary of this 1st African-owned winery in the United States. The place is not like a typical winery but more like a wine tasting and event space. It has a quaint feeling where you can host small events. The wine was delicious and the suya I had was fresh off the grill and simply AMAZING!!! I've been to this place twice and both times were for special events, so I can't really speak about the service accurately.

I absolutely enjoyed my time here ! I got the opportunity to meet the two owners of the winery and learn a little bit more about them and their wine. The stories behind each one made every sip better. This is one of those places that you have to buy a bottle to take home because you won't stop thinking about how good the wine was. I am no wine connoisseur but wow they expanded my wine pallet so far in just a day. They do have charcuterie and jollof and suya here. The staff is sweet , the service is great and the decor and ambiance is absolutely stunning! Everything and I mean everything is beautiful here. They have atleast 2 events every month so check them out on eventbrite and Instagram. Oh and please get a bottle of Obys boldness, SJs Pami, and the mayor !

The winery was quaint and cute inside. Our party was greeted and seated quickly. We ordered flights. All of the wines I tasted were to my liking. The jollof rice was flavorful as well. The service was a tad slow, but overall, the experience was nice and I plan to return.

Came across this winery on Instagram so I went to check it out on a Sunday afternoon with a friend, and we were so pleasantly surprised! It's located at the end of a small street off Main Street in Laurel with plenty of street parking around. The bar side of the winery has a few hightops and a long table, and there is a larger section to one side that was closed off when we went but seemed amenable to hosting large gatherings. You can buy wine by the glass, bottle, or try a flight -- we opted for the flight! A few items on the menu are excluded from the flight but there are still plenty to choose from. My personal favorite was from the reds, called the "Tribe." They have a small menu of eats: charcuterie, a selection of chocolates, jollof rice, and some meats. We shared a charcuterie board which was perfect to pair with the wines we tried. Do go check them out if you're looking for a casual spot with great wines!

What a chill spot! They've only been opened for 3 weeks but the wines range from Pinot to Cabernet Sauvignon. I grabbed a fight of The Mayorv which has rich, velvety, blueberry, and plum notes. Oby's Boldness which has rich cherry and strawberry notes. Their rosē is a vidal-chambourcin blend with a delicate fruity end. The last was their Pinot Grigio with coastal, apple, pear, and citrus notes. I can't wait to come back to try more of their wines and enjoy the homely atmosphere. The owner Iffy is a sweet heart and I enjoyed listening to her stories about getting the business started and plans for the future.

The menu consists of 6 wine options ranging from deep reds to the ever popular rose. I order a flight ($35) which allowed you to choose four wines from the menu in order to get a grasp of the winescape. It was nice that you had the option to mix and match the wines based on your palate and of course I leaned more towards the white wine. At the time of my visit the only food options that were available for purchase were chocolates imported from Ghana. I'm hopeful that more food will be made available in the future.

I had a wonderful time at Clyopatra Winery, the first African immigrant owned winery and vineyard in the US! The owner, Ifeoma was so friendly andnyoubcan tell she has a deep passion for wine and culture. The winery is beautifuly designed and spacious, with a cozy tasting room. I enjoyed a flight of 4 wines, each one with a distinct and delicious flavor. Clyopatra offers a variety of 6 wines. from dry to sweet, red to white, and even sparkling. The wines are paired with Ghanian chocolate (for purchase separately) which is rich and smooth and enhances the taste of the wines. The atmosphere is lively and fun, with Afrobeats playing in the background. I highly recommend Clyopatra to anyone looking for a new and exciting wine experience in Maryland. It's a hidden gem that deserves recognition and support!

Suya, chardonnay, and their Cylopatra chocolate dessert candy with plantains. Yum!

Beautiful venue tucked behind Main Street in Laurel! Wine is amazing and service is exceptional. They have quite a bit of space and games to play while enjoying. Overall, NICE VIBES!

I was really impressed by their commitment to supporting the community and showcasing other small businesses. That intention shows up in every detail, from the collaborations to the overall vibe. The food was so good. The jerk chicken was a standout, flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the charcuterie board was fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully done. Pair that with their wine cocktails and you're in for a treat. They're creative, well-crafted, and honestly some of my favorite wine-based cocktails I've had. What really sets Boyd Cru apart is that it's family-owned and operated, and they truly make you feel like family while you're there. Warm, welcoming, and intentional. Bonus: the space is also available to rent for private events, which is such a great option for anyone looking to host something intimate and meaningful. Highly recommend stopping by, whether for a tasting, a cocktail, brunch on Sundays or to support a local gem that's doing things the right way.

The venue? Gorgeous! The staff? Superb!…read moreThe wines? Phenomenal! This spot is a hidden gem... and I almost don't wanna tell yall about it. But it's too good to keep to myself. The whole place is a vibe. The decor is thoughtful, intentional, cozy, and inviting. The staff were welcoming, genuine, and extremely knowledgeable. Whether your are vino virgin or a cultured connoisseur, this spot is unpretentious and overwhelmingly welcome. But make no mistake... these ladies know their way around a grape, and they are well equipped to tell you whatever you need to know about what's in your glass. Let's get into these wines. I highly recommend the flight to get familiar with the different wines they have to offer. The Sparkling Vidal Blanc is not included in the pairing, so go on and get you a glass of that too. Trust me. The "Community" Vidal Blanc is easily one of the best bottles of white that has ever blessed my palate. Crisp, refreshing, full of bright, summery flavors but not too sweet... it's practically begging to be paired with a delicious plate of seafood (preferably one cooked with butter and lots of garlic). This is a great sipping wine, and an even better one to pair with dinner. The "Free Spirit" rose is another great sipping wine. Light, slightly sweet, and full of character, this was also a really great glass of wine. I like my reds a little bolder, so the "Living Legacy" red was not my favorite. It was still a good sip, and if you enjoy reds a little on the lighter side, this might be for you. Still worth a try in my book. Now I love bubbles and the only thing I enjoyed more than the vidal blanc was the sparkling vidal blanc! There's so much character in this bubbly... you'll have to taste and experience it for yourself. For me personally, it's high on the list of the best sparkling wines I've every had. If a plain glass of wine is not your thing, no worries. They also offer a number of wine-based cocktails, as well. In partnership with nearby businesses, the winery offers a limited variety of snacks including charcuterie boards, flatbreads, cake flights, as well as trail mix and popcorn available at the bar. I got the Smith Island Cake flight. While it's definitely not authentic Smith Island Cake, it's good to curb a raging sweet tooth. Speaking of partnerships, the winery also offers products from other local small businesses for sale: spices, body care products, jewelry and other items... So you can sip and shop. A few small areas of improvement I would recommend. -More, bigger and better signage...especially on the street. I was driving all around the area, then roaming all over Savage Mill Shopping Center before I finally found my way. -Provide more parking details, landmarks and directions on the website. (I ended up parking in a nearby neighborhood, only to find that there was a free parking lot available). -Expand snack offerings... perhaps sell individually packaged snacks from local businesses for purchase within the winery. -Consider adding a flight that will allow patrons to try all of the wines available. Shoutout to Eden and the crew for such a fantastic afternoon of good vibes and great wine. I'll be back... and I'm bringing friends!

Let me first add the context that I don't really identify as a wine drinker, but will still occasionally visit vineyards because I think the experience is nice. 61 vineyard was a cool spot for sure. They have a nice open location with tons of space (I think they said around 40 acres) and they've been expanding their main location for the four years that they've been open. They have a main tasting room, an expansion seating room, and an outdoor patio area that are all well maintained and great for parties of all sizes. I partook in the wine tasting which was very good and the staff was very friendly and easy to talk to (which I find often makes or breaks wine tasting experiences) The wine itself does seem on the pricier end for what I'm used to where I think the average bottle here goes for over $20. But there are also member and subscription types of services to take advantage of discounts. I'm not entirely sure if they have relationships with food vendors, but they didn't have many food option in the main location itself when we were there. The food options that I saw were prepackaged charcuterie packs, so I would keep that in mind for your visit. All in all a very nice winery spot and would recommend even if wine isn't typically your drink of choice.

They have a great view, string lights, indoor and outdoor seating, and a brewery close by. They have been around 4 years and are slowly revamping an old dairy farm into this winery. I loved that you could build your own flight. I enjoyed my tasting. I loved that she let us try everything, even though the tasting was set for 5 wines. I'm not sure how tastings would work when they are more busy. We went at opening on a Friday, so we could sit at the bar and hear about all the wines. There were so many good wines, but the Albariño really stood out as crisp and fresh and different.
