If i could leave 0 stars i would! First of all i was roofied and before i completely lost consciousness, i went up to the bouncer and told him i needed help and that something was wrong. He proceeded to grab my arm and throw me out of the bar. I sat on the curb outside the bar with all of my friends inside but they would not let me re enter. I was sobbing and obviously in distress. My friends and stopped in Dillo's after the football game for a few drinks and apps and it was a great spot to hangout and watch the afternoon football games. The bartenders were great bringing us beverages at our table away from the bar and our food came out shockingly fast. Both mozzarella sticks and fried pickles were good! We went to Dillos for happy hour and the deals were awesome. Half off the menu and drinks were cheap and good. The orange crush was delicious but the flatbreads were a little disappointing. It sounded good but was way too greasy and oily, neither of us could finish it. The cheese was oily on top of the pesto being naturally oily. It made my stomach upset. The nightlife on the weekends are pretty popular at Dillos, with a bar on bottom and a mini dance floor/DJ up top. They take away all the tables to make room for the crowd that comes in. read more

We ordered the Truffle Lamb Cheese Steak and got it on top of fries instead of bread, plus mac and beer cheese with bacon and the Taphouse Chili. I can't eat bread and love getting cheese steaks so on top of fries is the next best thing. Also, truffle, lamb and arugula are three of my favorite things. It did not disappoint. However, I do wish the cheese sauce wasn't as thick. The fries were cooked perfectly and the shaved lamb was delicious. My boyfriend had the chili and mac and cheese. I usually enjoy going to Armadillos but had a terrible experience that makes me never want to go back. First of all, my friend started a tab (turned in his credit card to start one) and then when he closed it the bartender, PJ, didn't give him a receipt (he paid in cash) or his card back. Right when we left the restaurant we realized he didn't have his card so we went back. After telling PJ, he started getting angry and then blaming my friend for the whole incident which in the end was actually his fault. Anyway, we left to watch fireworks as it was Fourth of July and then came back to the restaurant after the fireworks were done (was a close bar and have usually had good experiences). After that the service was fine and the music was great but another problem occurred as we were paying our second tab and leaving. There were drinks charged to our tab that we didn't buy so we asked PJ about them. Immediately he started getting angry (probably assumed we were lying) instead of listening to us. I was trying to neutralize the situation and explained but then he yelled at me and said, "fucking leave you bitch." I asked his name and he refused to give it to me. Disrespecting a woman like that who wasn't even trying to argue in any way is unacceptable behavior. I also brought a waterbottle that I was keeping an eye on all night and drinking out of that was stolen. I am pretty sure an employee took it because no one else was as close to my stuff as I was all night and some of the workers cleaning up cups and trash. When I called about it, they didn't even ask any questions and cut me off saying they didn't have it before I was even done asking about it on the phone. A sweet little bar with a very friendly atmosphere. The burgers stand as some yummy bar fare, and the service here has, in my view, always been excellent. I have been particularly impressed with Jen the manager/bartender who is the consummate professional. She has her hand on the pulse of Annapolis and make suggestions on things to do if you're new to the area. I never have a bad time when I come here, so it is always my first stop when I come to Annapolis. It's location is also ideal for a little Annapolis pub crawl, but trust me once Jen and the Dillos crew hit you with their magic, you may not want to leave. read more

After a long day of shopping a friend of mine and I decided to walk around downtown Annapolis to look for a place to stop for lunch. After checking out a few of the local menus we decided upon Armadillos. It looks a little dive bar ish when you first step in and you feel a little out of place as there is no hostess stand and you have to wait to be seated if you want a table. The only reason this review is getting 4 stars is the AMAZING pretzels and dip that we had as an appetizer! I ordered a burger that was a little too spicy for my taste and the fries were just ok. My friend had the melt and he seemed to enjoy it enough but was not over joyed about it. The service could have been better, the waitress walked pass my empty cup twice before she offered me a refill and i pretty much had to flag her down if i wanted anything extra. Maybe she was overwhelmed since she was the only waitress but come'on there were all of 4 tables inside and two patio tables, it couldnt have been too much for her to handle. read more

Last Saturday was my first time at Armadillos when I went there for a late lunch. They have a variety of flatbread pizzas, burgers, and entrees on their menu. I settled on a crumbled crab flatbread, which came with a choice of mixed greens or caesar​ salad; I was offered fries as a substitute​. The flatbread had a good amount of crab on it for $13. The salad was fresh, although it came with a lot of Italian dressing already on it. Another review includes a photo of a meal with tator tots; next time I will ask if tots are available. read more

Great downtown Annapolis bar, but nothing super special. I didn't have anything to eat as I was just there for drinks with a group, so keep that in mind. Pros: cheap drinks (compared to DC I guess), good music (definitely some throwbacks), and not so noisy you can't hear your friends speak. Cons: $5 cover charge on a Friday night (not out of the question, but I usually avoid places with cover since there are many options that don't have this). The bar had a fun lounge feeling then made you move at 10:30 to turn that area into a dance floor. Again, I guess not crazy, but it wasn't my favorite since there weren't many other seating options to have a drink and suddenly I was in the middle of a dance club. Wow, does THIS place suck! We remember Armadillo's when it was a meh Tex-Mex restaurant/bar a few years back. It wasn't much then either, but at least it was SOMEthing. Now, it's basically just another bar, with less seating than a hot tub. Most of the tables are gone, presumably to make more standing room for the barely legal crowd to buy cheap beer and bad margaritas and argue about whose tricked out Honda Civic has more horsepower. And gone is the Texican menu, replaced with a tacky, black and white sheet of paper from someone's bubble jet printer that offered a minimal choice of burgers/sandwiches and a few uninspiring apps. It looked like the entire menu was created in the time it took its author to brush his or her teeth. SIDE NOTE: we do love Dive Bars, and the best ones have character, and a personality all their own. This place has less personality than an insurance seminar. Seriously, the owner must've woken up one day said "hmmm, what is the absolute bare minimum I can put forth and still turn a profit???" A few Saturdays ago we stopped in with some friends for dinner, mainly because our first two choices had lengthy waits. (RED FLAG: It's 7pm on a Saturday in popular historic downtown Annapolis, and the place had maybe five people inside, while the first two places we tried were packed. It was so empty it was actually kinda creepy, like a Twilight Zone episode. We shoulda known better, but in truth we were all as interested in drinks as we were in food, so we decided to give it a shot. Bad move.) Margaritas? The waitress looked somewhat surprised when we asked for Patron Reposado, and returned with something that tasted closer to watered down orange juice with salt on the rim. I still have no idea WHAT was in that glass. Burgers? My wife asked for medium, and instead got--wait, what's the more cooked level above Well Done? Advanced Well Done? Petrified Forest Well Done? Official NHL Equipment Well Done? It was so dense and hard that Neil Peart could've put it on a stand and used it during his drum solo. After about 45 minutes of this we finally raised the white flag, got our check, and walked up the street to Toro Bravo, where thankfully they still offer good Mexican food on a real menu, actual dining tables, and Margaritas that taste like Margaritas. Dinner & Drinks, Part Deux. To be fair, if you're a 20-something, and looking for a generic place to drink with other 20-somethings, you may have a different take on what Armadillo's has morphed into. That's clearly their target now. But for the 35 and over crowd, do yourself a favor and keep walking. This is not--repeat NOT--a restaurant. I have eaten at Armadillos several times over the last ten years or so. One of the first times I ate there, we saw a cockaroach crawling on the wall. It grossed us out, but I realize that most restaurants probably have roaches and maybe it was just a fluke. So I returned there every so often for lunch. The food is pretty good. Well, I had dinner there on Saturday. After we ordered our food, one of the biggest roaches I have ever seen (about 4" long) crawled down the wall and across the room. My buddy saw it and told me that he lived with many roaches in his dorm in college, but he too had never seen one so big. I'm sorry, but I'm sure they can do a better job of extermination. Sunday, 3 pm. My experience... I and two others made it just in time to watch the owner drunkenly make a fool of himself along with his group of friends. We watched him wonder behind the bar to pour himself beers, put (loud) music on the digital jukebox (Tom Petty and like artists... ) sing and dance loudly, and when actual patrons put money in to play songs, we watched him turn down the volume. Bleh. The fries here were soft and soggy. Not exactly what I'm looking for when I come to a---well, not ever what I'm looking for. I got the crab cake sandwich, which was kind of plain and dry. I appreciated that there wasn't a ton of extra seasoning on the sandwich, but the breading in the crab cake dried the whole thing out and diluted the flavor. My wife got the nachos, which not only looked unappetizing, but didn't have a lot going on in the flavor department. Our waitress was very friendly. Place was nice and friendly as our crew of 35 showed up. We clearly overwhelmed the bartender but she remained cool. At some point, a man with a smile on his face and beer in hand shook my hand and thanked us for coming. I asked if he was the owner and he said yes. It was nice that he came over but during the entire time our 35 person party was throwing orders at his bartender, he never put down his beer and offered to help, in fact he was laughing as how she was running ragged behind the bar. The BEST and earliest Happy Hour in all of Annapolis! Starts at 2pm! We had a few beers and tried the flat bread and burgers. Both were great and only $6 during happy hour. We came back later for the nightlife. DJ starts at 9, and they fill up quickly. Happy hour drink specials until 11pm! We then had the Crab Fries. STOP. THE. PRESSES. The waffle cut fries give Chick-fil-A a run for their money. They they pile on the cheese and a boat-load of LUMP crab. Not the little flakes of crab...huge pieces. This is my favorite place to go for a night out in DTA. It's small, sure, and the bartending is just ok, but it has it's upsides. Drinks are moderately priced, but good. The place gets packed on the weekend, but the clientele is generally pretty attractive (lots of cute Navy dudes) and well-behaved. The music is good for a club-vibe, and the lighting and overall atmosphere of the place is favorable. Good spot to people-watch. I can't comment on the food...I wouldn't come here for a meal anyway since I see it as more of a bar. read more

Service Dog Trainer Here! I've been training service dogs for veterans, children with disabilities, and people with food allergies for 14 years. I've never been refused service, until last night. I had a service dog with me, clearly marked in vest, with muffs (because going out at night is loud). We approached the door and was immediately told that service dogs are not welcome by the bouncer named "Will." He had know knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and said that the venue was overcrowded and he didn't care; that he was going to refuse service. Apparently, Armadillos doesn't care if they violate your rights. I'd deeply encourage anyone and everyone to avoid this awful venue and I'd deeply encourage Amardillos to fire "Will." I'll be reporting this incident to the local chapter of the ACLU and retaining council to sue the establishment. This kind of discrimination (I guess people with disabilities shouldn't be able to go out lol) is all too common and I hope to make sure this venue pays for violating the ADA. read more
