This is a great local pub! All bars should be this friendly and warm. Great bartenders. The bar is a 6 star and the food is 4. The food is good and they have a full menu of sandwiches, but don't come expecting foodie uniqueness. It's just good pub food made with care. Something for everyone. They are known for their wings which are cooked perfectly and well sized. Not too small to be nibbles but not so big that you lose the sauce. I got the Buffalo. It was authentic Buffalo. Not spicy but good for everyone to try. Be nice if there was a hotter variety as well. The onion soup was great. Would recommend a bowl if that if that's your thing. Also tried the seafood chowder special. I liked it but will stick to onion and chili I think. Great draft list with new selections all the time. It's the kind of place that when you look around you see more drafts and sidecars than you do cocktails. It's great. Food specials every day. I also tried the salmon sandwich on ciabatta one time. What a nice little dive bar, it's probably the closest decent restaurant to my house yet in 15 years I've never stopped in to eat. Well that's all going to change. After stopping in today on a whim I had a Hero burger and onion rings and I have to admit it was probably one of the best hamburgers in town. I will keep you posted on more adventures at Heroes. The service was really attentive - both bartenders kept drinks flowing and food plentiful at our high top table near the bar on Saturday. The food was great! The old bay wings were some of the crispiest I've had in a while. The Ruben and another sandwich we got were also both great. Sides were solid - crispy fries, tots, and onion rings. I especially liked the onion rings. I would definitely come hang here again! Located in a cute neighborhood in West Annapolis with a small parking lot out front. I wish they had a better beer selection. We chose to go there because it was rated for great beer selection, and they do have a LOT of beer on tap... but it's more like every beer you'd find at your local Applebee's and nothing exciting. I've been to Heroes Pub at least a dozen times and I've never had a bad experience to date. This spot has like a hundred beers on tap as well as a full bar selection. The bartenders are very good. Speedy, attentive and friendly. On my latest visit I had the lunch sandwich special with tater tots. I wish I could remember what it was called but it's only offered on Fridays. Sliced beef, avocado, beans, cheese and just plain deliciousness(I believe this was the main ingredient). Now lets be upfront, Heroes is not going to be confused with some fancy bar that serves high-end food. What Heroes is, is a classic local watering hole where you can find solid food at a decent price. I've visited Heroes twice before I posted this review and both times I cleaned my plate off the food was so good. Heroes is known for its cheese steaks so I happily ordered one. The steak comes on a plain sub roll with standard steak meat, provolone cheese, tomatoes, and mayo. The cheese steak is delicious but unspectacular, it's not going to blow your mind with some brilliant combination of cheese and gourmet meats. But it does do the job, which is not what all restaurants can say about their cheese steaks. Next on the docket was the chicken chesapeake sandwich which is a grilled chicken breast topped with tasty crab dip and cheddar cheese. Crab dip is the ultimate condiment and I endorse its usage on anything. The creaminess of the dip and the richness of the crab meat pairs perfectly with the lean flavor of the chicken breast. All together it's a solid sandwich. Heroes Pub is not a place you have to visit, but it does the trick. read more
