I'm a regular at Heros Pub. I've tried pretty much everything on their menu. I can't say I've ever had a bad meal. The Greek Salad with blackened salmon or tuna is my go to meal. Their specials are different all the time amd are worth trying. The problem I always have is I must get their Buffalo Wings with blue cheese, extra crispy fries with a side of blue cheese and a side of Buffalo sauce to dip the fries in. That leaves me with taking half of my salad home for the next day. read more

Really good bar food. Nice selection of drafts. Some of the best steamed mussels ever! Friendly, quick service. However, two sporting events on the multiple TV's both had their sound tracks blaring even for the commercials. It's our local pub and we love it. The people are great and the atmosphere is oh so comfortable. Nearly 50 beers on tap, there is loads to choose. It's just your simple fries and sammy's here but they do have one stand out STEAMED SHRIMP! It's the best in town. Always big, cooked to order so ask for them when you sit down and wait for them to arrive steamed with onions and bay seasoning. YUM! read more

We have been coming to Heroes for lots of years. Try their French Onion Soup, Ruben or their Club just remember to ask for them to put cheese on the club. I would skip the chicken, bacon and cheese sandwich as they have sliced the chicken breast into at least 2-3 slices which makes it really, really dry. They once had great fished and chips now really bad. Not great wine selection and the ones they have over priced. The real problem comes that the owner thinks Colorado is a foreign county when it comes to pricing their beer. They do not consider Left Hand a craft beer but a import. This must be a shock to the citizens of Colorado. I should say that all the staff are great. read more

A real pub, run by real people, who serve real food! Can't believe we've not found this place sooner, 'cause now it's on the must-stop list whenever we are anywhere near Annapolis. It's away from the tourist traps downtown - and that's a good thing - but right off Route 50. Huge beer selection, affordable drinks and food, and pleasant wait staff. Eight TVs running with 6 different sports on this Saturday afternoon, but not so noisey that you can't have a decent conversation. Food [reuben; chicken soup; taco salad] was excellent. It's a typical bar. The Heroes refers to all the local firemen, police, etc, materials that adorn the walls and it feels like the sort of place where cops would come and hang out after work. Not too nice, not pretty at all but a good hang-out place. My guy friends love the place. I'm not really a fan though. The food is typical bar food - french fries are probably the best thing I've had there and that's only because the other stuff really isn't good. There's a veggie burger (which I haven't tried) but not many other veggie options. I've had the crabcake sandwich -- which tasted like cardboard, and the mussels, which were on special but not that good (and didn't come with fries? - I thought that was pretty standard?). As for trivia, which was the real reason I came - it has been pretty disappointing. I've played trivia here three times. One time, the trivia guy read directly from the Trivial Pursuit cards and didn't even change the category names (People and Places, anyone?). Another time they did some wacky music trivia category where they played 10 seconds of a song and you had to identify it. Another trivia category was local brewed beers. And their trivia night -- Thursday -- went on well past 11PM. On the plus side, they do have a TV screen that displays the trivia scores and they give $25 gift certificates to the winners. I'm on the hunt for a trivia location - but this isn't it. Not for me. Given the sad state of the food, and the blah trivia categories, not my favorite trivia location. read more

I'm surprised I'm just now reviewing this place, I've been coming here for years. I avoid downtown Annapolis like a midshipmen avoids grass stains; whenever my annapolitan friends want to go out I beg them to go to Heroes instead of DTA ("downtown annapolis" for those unfamiliar). Flatscreens are always flickering with varying sportsball games. You know, this place I thought was a firefighter/police bar, and the decor speaks to that, I don't know if I've ever met a "hero" there though, that may be false advertising. I can't say, I'm not a lawyer . That's besides the point, what about the grub and sippy sippys? I have never had bad food here, but I've also always been drunk here. I always get the grilled chicken sandwich with bacon and cheddar, I have eaten that sober as well and enjoyed it only 5% less. I really like the wings too, they're greasy and delicious. There is an expansive selection of draft beers and other liquids to boost morale. Beer prices can be steep if you order one of the specialty ones. Service can be slow at times, but the staff is always pleasant. There is a trivia night, live music, and a karaoke night (Karaoke Tuesday: Wait for the guy that constantly performs a painful rendition of Spandau Ballet: "I know this much is true". Reason #6 to visit this place). I'd say if you want to get away from the trendy atmosphere of downtown, go find this little gem off the beaten path. read more

My bf and his roommate went here for lunch yesterday, President's Day. These men are former military so they HAD to check it out. While we can say the ambiance was exactly as we expected (chill, hole-in-the-wall full of men/women of service) and the food was surprisingly EXCELLENT, the service was a little less than mediocre. Our server seemed to know that the salad 'just had a bunch of vegetables' but was unaware of what KIND of vegetables. She was also unaware of an update on the menu. Sadly, she just didn't seem happy to be there in the presence of men/women who serve our country in any way. While the food was great, the service was sub-par. Would we go again? Most definitely due to the reason behind the bar and a super cool-chill atmosphere! We wouldn't mind hearing first-hand the story behind how the bar was created. read more

This place does have the best beer selection in Annapolis that I've seen so far. My Brit hubby was very excited to see Boddington's on tap. There are ample TVs, and it wasn't too crowded the night we went for dinner. This is clearly a locals pub, reminded me of Davis' a little due to it's out of the way location. It's an older crowd, which I liked too. But honestly, the food is mediocre at best. The fish and chips were pretty good, but not as good as Fado's. The soup and salad I had were edible, but I would not order either again. If they had better food, it would be four stars and I could see us frequenting it. But for now, it's a place to stop and have a good, hard to find beer. read more

Be a hero Feeling like a hero because I drove all the way from Stafford VA to Annapolis to pick up an antique head board for my decorating obsessed wife...I see this joint. Like the antique shop down the street, this place is out of the way and most folks wouldn't know it was here. This is a cop/fireman pub/grill and the décor says it loud and clear.....even the fire engine parked out front makes a statement. I walk in and belly up to the bar (needing a drink after seeing what my wife paid for an old beat up head board), 51 taps on the wall......51......I counted twice. Honey doo list be damned for the rest of the day. Grabbed a shrimp salad sandwich which was in the game and saw a number of other menu selections that looked unique and appetizing. I want to try the grilled chicken topped with cheese and crab dip next time (there will be a next time because I'm sure there is a $300 antique bed pan that goes with the headboard in that shop next door). Bottom line: PSA: turn down that F' Da Police CD by NWA as you pull into the lot or you will probably learn to drink a beer with 2 broken arms....just saying. read more

Favorite local dive. Always a friendly and wonderful staff. A great, drama-free environment. Whether you're into watching the game, or down for Trivia.. There is plenty reason to stop by. Perfect whether you want to grab a bite, after work drink, or if you just want to lose track of time and spend your night in a welcoming and relaxed environment. When it's busy, the noise level is insane.. But that is to be expected. It's literally always freezing cold in here.. So either bring a layer to add, or buy a hoodie to support the pub. Just don't complain since, well, I just warned you. Plenty of in-site free parking, and easily accessible for Uber/Lyft. read more

Went there on a Friday night. $6 for a glass of beer! Really? Granted, mine was an import, but this is still a little steep. Got the crab balls, 6 balls for $9.95. Skip these. Not worth the money. Came with about a half a sleeve of saltines. Why? Ended up making mini sandwiches with them. I ordered the Chicken Chesapeake. Crab dip on a chicken breast with melted cheese. On paper it sounded good. Cheddar cheese probably wasn't the best choice for this one. I wouldn't order it again. Wife had the French Dip which she said was good. I have had this here before and I liked it. Overall, I would go here for a beer, but not more than one at these prices. read more

Heroes Pub has been a family favorite for many years. When I ask "where should we go for a bit to eat" Heroes is alway on the list ! The food is always great. I have eaten just about everything on the menu and love it all. Heroes is a neighborhood pub in the true sense. I hesitate to say to many nice things about the place because I don't want the downtown Annapolis crowd to invade. Trivia on Thursdays is super fun! (And easier than Sly Fox). Good beer selection, and crazy good nachos. The service is definitely spotty when they're slammed, but all in all, a laid-back neighborhood spot. If you get the good trivia DJ guy, he gives the winners bar swag and hands out CDs of the music he played that night to anyone who wants a copy. This is a nice, little place with a really wonderful draft list and great atmosphere. I haven't eaten their food in years, but I recall it being delicious. It's a 5 star bar with a top-notch beer selection. Fast and friendly staff - always feel welcome and staff started to learn my beer favorites - I'm an IPA guy and the Big Eye is fabulous. Sandwiches are nothing special but the nachos are my go-to. Always try to go only at happy hour 4-7 as the price goes from $6 down to $4 for domestic craft drafts. Usually have some other good beer deals. Strange thing is that no matter how packed the parking lot is there is always a place to sit. read more

Went to Heroes last night for happy hour. There only specials were $1 off draft and bottled beers. That being said, I was still paying $5 for Blue Moon drafts. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a deal. I order the crab dip and club sandwich. The crab dip seemed to consist of one ingredient: cream cheese. The club had all the meat in the middle, making it a hassle and mess to eat. Pros: - Lots of TVs - Tons for options for beers - Decent service Cons: - Expensive happy hour - Below pay food - Loud and crowded I did here this place was a popular place to servers. I heard the best nights to go are during the week like Tuesday or Wednesday. read more

Heroes has a good draft beer selection. That's the only good thing I can say about it. Oh yeah, the theme is good but I wouldn't want to give a hero this food. The bar is small and very crowded and loud. Parking sucks. Must be some very local people frequenting it. The owners should consider naming their old bay wings to Kentucky Fried Old Bay Wings. Not much good for eating(I spent the night on the toilet), but you could probably lubricate your car engine for a year if you wring out a few them into a container. In other words, the worst chicken wings I've ever had and I've had a lot. I thought I ordered nachos, but what I got was plate of greasy cheese layered on top of more greasy cheese. I'm not sure if there were any chips in there. I poked a few times with a fork and called it a day. About a year ago, I ordered the soup and sandwich combo. I got an average bowl of crab soup and a bologna sandwich. Two pieces of cheap white bread and a slab of cheap meat in the middle. I guess I was expecting something better than a lazy bachelor could make after getting some slimy deli meat from the Safeway. It's not a bad place for late night(expensive) drinks if you are into partying, but the food is scary. read more

This is our fave neighborhood pub. If you want to just chill out with absolutely no pretenses, this is the place! The draft beer selection is awesome. Food is always good - great bar food and some of the biggest wings I have found in town. Chicken chesapeake sandwich is off the hook. When I am feeling more health conscious, I get the half sandwich with cup of soup. Both the chicken/rice soup and Maryland crab soup are great. Everything was going fine, food was okay nothing special. When inquiring about the check, the waiter/manager became very rude. In fact he said FU to one of our guests all over a $2 discrepancy of 2 wing flavors. Ridiculous for a manager to act worse than a teenager. A friend, my boyfriend and I decided to hit up Heroes on a Friday night for some dinner and drinks. I'd been here a few times before, remembered it being a cute little local place, but couldn't really remember my opinion of the food so I wanted to try it out again. We sat at the bar and two nice bartender girls helped us out. I guess they share tips, not sure. We were amazed by the selection of beers on tap, I counted 40 but don't hold me to that. Both the guys enjoyed trying a few new ones. I stuck with my usual mixed vodka drinks. I ordered us the crab dip to start. The food took a little longer than you'd usually expect to come out, but the bar was pretty busy. We all looked at it and wondered if there really was any crab in it, as it looked like it was mostly cream cheese...and unfortunately it tasted that way too. For my main dish I got the steak quesadilla (which was on special), my friend got the Reuben sandwich and my boyfriend just had an appetizer. The steak quesadilla was pretty bland. I think the steak probably wasn't the best quality and it was generally uninteresting. My friend said his sandwich was great though. So that makes one impressive food item out of everything we ordered. Throughout our visit a couple older gentleman found it necessary to talk/flirt with me whenever my boyfriend walked away. Nothing offensive, and I was nice to them but it was pretty annoying. I'm not sure if this usually occurs but other than them the crowd seemed of all ages; a family gathering, a couple with kids, 20 somethings, etc. I really like the atmosphere at Heroes (besides the couple old dudes lol); music, darts, happening scene... however the food falls very short. Pretty disappointing. I would go back to Heroes to enjoy some drinks but I would make sure I've eaten elsewhere beforehand. read more

I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. I love the patches and pictures and the overall feel. I LOVE their Cuban sandwich- it's my go to. Drinks are cold, bartenders are friendly as is the rest of the staff. My husband and I have gone for trivia and I was disappointed because it never starts on time which makes for a super late night. The 9/11 toasts have always been heartfelt with a good turnout for a good cause. We'll continue to enjoy for years to come! read more

Fun bar with great authentic Maryland food. Definitely a local bar, full of good food, good music, and a great atmosphere. Loved the jerk chicken soup, I've never had anything like it. Friends have been going here for decades, raving about the wings. While I am not one for wings, I have to admit, they were quite tasty. Parking is not too bad, unless it's happy hour. A great kids restaurant before happy hour, and before 9 o'clock. I heard live bands play there, as there is room for one, but I've never personally go. We go here all the time and really enjoy it. The staff are over the top nice. Really disappointed to read negative review of the manager from a previous poster but then read some of his other posts and see he is a serial complainer. Guessing the argument over $2 also involved splitting a check 24 ways. But back to Heroes, a nice local pub with great beer, great pub food, and a nice local atmosphere.
