We have had food from this restaurant several times. It is a hidden jam, in a neighboring community to where we live. It definitely is a hideaway! When you walk in, you can tell it is a neighborhood hang out because everybody knows one another and the bartenders definitely know their customers! It's a very warm and welcoming environment. We have had several things from the menu. The pizza is very good! The crust is crispy and the toppings are plentiful. If you like appetizers, you'll definitely want to try the loaded, tater tots, chicken quesadillas, or not! All of them are delicious. If you're looking for somewhere, that's a little off the beaten path, and not a chain restaurant, definitely give this place a try. read more

Put this under my " nobody does his job right" heading. Ask for a side salad rather than greasy fries and what do you get? 3 guesses,first 2 don't count. Ding, ding, ding! You got it. Greasy fries! WARNING service and food is TRASH. I ordered a large cheese pizza me & my mother tasted it and it was horrible.. worse than school lunch pizza.. I don't even know what type of cheese was on it but it was horrific. & burnt. I called them to ask for a refund and the owner kept asking what was wrong with the pizza so I proceeded to tell him it wasn't good at ALL considering the fact it was $20 I wanted my money back or some type of accommodation. Herald Harbor Hideaway is a GEM! It's the perfect neighborhood bar with a great bar, table top seating, and a little hearth area complete with sofa and wingback chairs. The bartenders are friendly and fast, especially Tracy!!! I've been tons of times and always loved it. The pizza is BOMB and they were more than happy to make me a vegan cheese-less pizza with mushrooms and olives, it was SO GOOD!! I went recently to watch a Saints football game that started kind of late - Tracy put the game on all the TVs just for us and she even stayed open late so we could watch the end. Service was awful. Tolk several minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, when they did, we ordered drinks and asked for menus. Came back with drinks, no menus. My wine glass had a full on fresh lipstick print. Not just a little that was missed by the dishwasher, like the glass wasnt even washed. Nice local bar good beer selection. Busy so service can take a while very friendly! Right next to a little store so after a few beers and supper you can take home bread, beer and ice cream. We went for the Wed night $6 burger. A decent neighborhood joint. Burger and fries were tasty. Wide assortment of beer... a bit on the pricy side. I guess this may be because they seem to be the only restaurant in town (?). The only snag was the service - SLOW!! When we were there they were operating with minimal staff. Walking into a place like this and expecting 5 star service is like expecting the neighborhood kid down the street, who eats dirt, to be a rocket scientist. Now I have been here a few times, and to be fair, my only semi bad experience, was sitting down at the table tops near the bar. Usually, sitting at the stools at the bar top is usually the way to go in places like this. As far as the food is concerned, like many have said before me, the pizza is the way to go. They have an good array of toppings and they are damn delicious. I've tried a couple of their sandwiches and some good, and some are not so great. Id stay away from the Steak and Cheese, unless you just want to taste sadness and unless you like paying over $10 bucks for Kraft Mac and Cheese with some chili on top, I would stay away from the Chili Mac and Cheese Bowl. I mean come on, we all grew up on that stuff, we all know what those noodles look like, you aint foolin anyone. The Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich was pretty damn delicious. Fried Pickle Spears are great, Wings are great, mozzarella sticks are great. Just stick to the fried stuff and I think you will be good. So like I said, pump the breaks on the expectations of table service, sit at the bar and make friends with the bartender. Have a Natty Boh while you wait for your food, and just order the pizza and anything fried. Stick to those hard fast rules and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by this little divey gem. read more

Support your local pub! Reminds me of English pubs, local clientele, reasonably priced food, variety of good beer on tap (Troegs is hard to find!) and friendly people. The pizza is off the hook. I'll leave it at three stars until I can properly assess their food. On the other hand, we went to Herald Harbor Hideaway one night because we were feeling just too lazy to drive the 15 mins to Annapolis. We should've just followed our gut feeling. Walking in, the entire place smelled like old furniture with something sour/rancid in the background. The beers were cold and the prices were decent, but the service was verging on awful. There were literally only two people in the restaurant area and we were the only two at the bar. We didn't get a nod or any service for almost 10 mins. The bartender was too busy chatting it up. When I asked for a drink menu, all I received was an odd "this is not that type of bar" kind of stare and silence. Not the greatest of experiences. Maybe I'll follow my fellow Yelpers lead and order pizza next time. Hopefully they'll treat me better. read more

I've been here a bunch of times (20+) as it is in the neighborhood next to ours. The pizza is great, and the service is solid at the bar. We have come to know the waitresses and tip well, so our service tends to be spot on. Plenty of brews on tap, with craft bottles for the pinky-pointers. Fried anything is generally good here, and the meat lasagna is really good and enough for two meals (and I like to eat!). "Decor" is kinda divey, with tables that are old... But the bar is solid, mostly locals attend, and tons of TVs if you want to watch one of the games. On any day you'll find both Baltimore and DC games on (Caps, Redskins, and Ravens for sure and maybe the golf channel are generally all defaults. read more

Crownsville doesn't have many restaurants so Herald Harbor Hideaway (It's actual name) is a welcome addition. Contemporary sports bar ambiance with lots of hi-def TVs and a dining area away from the bar. Typical restaurant/bar food with several interesting twist, generous portions (my wife and I often split meals), reasonable prices, friendly staff. Easily the best pizzas in Crownsville, and one of the better in the Annapolis area. A true neighborhood restaurant/bar where they will know your name (if you want them to) after you visit a few times. Their complete menu is available for carryout, which we take advantage of at least once a week. read more

Wanted a pizza, so we only do carry-out after our eating in experience. They have has some areas of the pizza a little over cooked, but this pizza as just burnt. It seem that who ever made the pizza left it in the oven way to long and could not take the time to cut the pizza in equal slices. We really tossed out 85% as it was so burnt and there as about 20 people in the restaurant. Last time for this place will get pizza from Herald Harbor. So do not waste you dollars go some place else for pizza. read more

Such a down to earth place. If you're not a local and criticize it for the way the people are... just don't. Herald Harbor is like it's own little world. Everyone's so fun.
