This was an extremely surprising find in Shady Side, Maryland. My friend and I had a tradition of driving up here from northern Virginia to see the bay on misty nights, and we always had a blast doing it. On our last trip doing this before I moved away, we decided to stop here and try it out. While the kitchen had closed before we arrived, the bar was still open and we availed ourselves of drinks. The locals here were pleasant and good-humored, and it definitely had the ideal dive bar feel. The bartender was nice as well, and provided great service. We enjoyed a few games of pool and appreciated the chance to feel like we belonged in a place we had traveled to many times. Since it wasn't particularly busy on this evening, they closed a bit earlier than usual though we were ready to move on by that point. Overall, I would definitely consider returning here at some point in the future if I were able to head up with my friend one final time. Overall: 4.0 stars ----- Pros: - Friendly staff and locals. - Good beer selection. - Available/functional pool tables. - Easy parking. Cons: - May not always be open according to their hours if it's not a busy night, and the kitchen closes early as well, though try your luck anyway.

This space was called Richie's when I moved to the area in 2007. It closed down in 08 or 09 and the family that owned it sold the business. Since then two other restaurants (The Great Blue and J'Ollie's) have tried unsuccessfully to run business out of the space. I walked in this past week not knowing what to expect based on the bad experiences of the two previous attempts by others. What I found was a small business that appears to have some legs based upon their approach. The Corner Grill does not attempt to be fancy (The Great Blue) nor does it try to serve food that won't sell (J'Ollie's) in this area. Instead what you see is is what you get. A family friendly neighborhood sports bar atmosphere that serves quick bites at reasonable prices. There was a pool table, juke box, foosball and darts along with booths and tables to accompany the bar. Prices are good for the area and the food was solid the night I showed up. I brought my family along on another night and had the same experience. If you're just looking for a place to relax, watch a few big screen TV's over beer and a burger, then this is the place. A good start so far.

"Why did it have to snow tonight?! We're stuck in this hospital...when we should be following that…read moremonster's trail," Roberto DaCosta (Sunspot) shook with anger as he expressed a desire to seek revenge against who or what attacked their teammate, Danielle Moonstar, leaving her on an operating table on the brink of death. "Waste o' time, Bobby, you won't find the critter there," Sam Guthrie (Cannonball), the oldest of the teenagers that make up the New Mutants, responded, "It'll be here." "What are you talking about, Sam? Explain yourself!" "Stands t' reason, ever since we've known her, Dani's had a special fear of a spirit bear she said murdered her parents. None of us really really gave the story much credit, after all who believes in magic?" Sam paused oh so slightly before continuing. " 'Cept Illyana's a real witch, an' we fought demons and sorceresses. Maybe Dani wasn't kidding." Sam shifted his tone to reveal his evidence. "Illyana tells me Dani spent the last week or so in the Danger Room fighting bears! T'night, she walked out into a [winter] storm, alone, armed with a bow an' arrows an' wearing war paint! And got mauled. We were wrong t' doubt her. We should'a listened, we should'a seen the signs." Whenever my wife and I visit a restaurant or bar for the first time, whether we are there by ourselves or--in this case--treated to a meal by our favorite neighbors--I can count on her to sort through, heed, and pick up on every nuance in every aspect of culinary service that is there to be sensed. In this case, at the Dockside Restaurant & Sports Bar at 421 Deale Road in Maryland, the food was mostly wonderful, and the prices were more than reasonable for this economy. What prevents Dockside from receiving at least four stars was primarily the service. Two orders of fries, one sweet potato and one regular, weren't hot; and although our waitress reluctantly brought one of the orders back to exchange it for a new batch, the fries didn't taste any warmer. Our other host ordered his crabcake lightly-fried, only for it to be brought out broiled. He still enjoyed it, but it wasn't exactly what he wanted or ordered. By the end of the meal, it became obvious that, if we return, we need to ask for Sarah, who, although she was tending the bar and wasn't even our waitress, still brought one of our neighbors a fresh cup of Pepsi Zero that she could take on our return trip home. Sarah also exhibited a great sense of humor, an attentiveness and an attention to detail, and, most importantly, remembered with pleasure our hosts, who have dined there frequently. Apart from the pumpkin cheesecake, which was so infused with nutmeg and pumpkin spice that even Linus from Peanuts couldn't have tasted the pumpkin, and the lukewarm fries, our meals were terrific. I devoured the perfectly-seasoned shrimp from the fried shrimp platter; everyone loved their onion rings and their cream of crab and Maryland crab soups; and we all agreed that the crabcakes, boiled and fried, were scrumptious.

great food and service. Sydney, was again so wonderful!! I can't wait to go back again!!!!read more

The ambiance is nice and comfortable, 3 floors of historic memorabilia, my favorite pieces were the cool antique cash registers. The service was beyond exceptional! Our waitress Erin was very attentive and knowledgeable! She recommended the green fried tomatoes I was considering and boy they were nothing like I've ever had! So delicious! Packed with flavor! For dessert I had the seasonal peach cobbler made with fresh locally grown peaches! A-mazing!

We were seated immediately. For starters we ordered 2 crab dips, 2 orders of fried green tomatoes, & 2 orders of crispy wings (Old Bay). Our non-alcoholic beverages included Pepsi products (no Coca-Cola ), ginger ale but no ginger beer. All of the appetizers were on point with flavor & texture. Also the Old Bay chicken wings were not as salty as other places serve them. I ordered the crab cake sandwich & onion rings. I had to box my crab cake because the small plates filled me up. I heated it in a pan later with a little olive oil spray and it was good. Our generous shipmate took care of thei bill so I'm not sure if splitting was an option. This was my first visit but definitely not my last. I enjoyed the relaxed vibes and proximity to the resort & dock.
