Oysters on the Half shell
Mia E.

Checked out Chesapeake Beach for the ride and the slots. They're still building up the area but there are a few spots to explore. We had drinks at the bar in the BBQ area where the slots are. Nice chill spot, seating tv's, and relaxed area for conversation. Hours later we ventured upstairs through the parking garage to have dinner. I would imagine that in the spring and summer you would enjoy amazing views of the water and boats. Not in January ... but still a beautiful place. Our service was excellent! Seriously we were in this place for at least four hours. Not crowded at all on a Friday night. Not on the top level . So we started with the cream of crab soup. So much crab! Seriously I could have had another bowl and been happy. The wings were good as well, but the OYSTERS?! Plump, juicy and slightly sweet. Yeah, get them. If you like oysters, you'll want to get a dozen. The menu looked really good but after these apps and copious amounts of libations, we were stuffed. Do I recommend this spot? If you want some quiet time and pretty good food, yeah come by. Hit the slots downstairs and come to 1936. Honestly I think the views will be prettiest when the weather gets warmer.

1936 CRAB DIP

This unplanned trip to Chesapeake Beach landed a pleasant surprise. I wanted seafood BAD, but this gem stood out due to good reviews and location (I was walking the boardwalk and it was fairly close). I came around 2 pm or so and there was a fair amount of people there. The greeters were sweet and the server was excellent. I believe she doubled as the bartender. The restrooms were located upstairs, where there was another very nice bar area (closed during my visit). I had 2 lemon drops martinis and started with the crap dip. The bread and dip was EXCELLENT. I'd return just for that alone- fresh ingredients and the bread had the perfect amount of crispiness. For my entree, I ordered a filet minion and fries. The grade of beef was pretty nice and flavorful. Overall I enjoyed this visit. The only bit of disappointment was the lack of music or sound at all. There were TVs on but no sound from them either. I'm sure in the evening it may change.

Crabcake hush puppies

Some old friends and I decided to try this spor out. The restaurant sits on the water. They seemed to be a little understaffed at the time. The restaurant only has a section of the restaurant open. The server who took our order was nice. I had the crabcake with hushpuppies. The hush puppies were somewhat burnt and dry. The crabcake was a nice size just thought it was a little bland so I asked for some old bay seasoning. The winter mojito was tasty but very sweet. I did taste my friends calamari and they were nicely seasoned. I would give the restaurant one more try.

Great Octoberfest menu! Not pictured but impressive was the pretzel crab bake -- it was HUGE! The Buffalo schnitzel with ham and cheese on a pretzel bun was also a Wonderful surprise!

The crab cakes are excellent! We had a prep issue with our dessert but our server, the manager, and the pastry chef all took the time to listen, research, explain, and make it right.

fter hanging out in North Beach we came down to Chesapeake Beach to try out 1936. The outside patio was full, but we were able to get a table at the window facing the boats and water. We were quickly seated and brought waters and given time to pick out drinks and food. We got the crab dip, oysters, chicken and crab cake combo, and the fried shrimp. The oysters were very fresh and the appetizers and food came out piping hot and very well prepared. The crab cake barely had any filler, the shrimp were huge and had great seasoning on it, and the fried chicken was super crispy. The service was amazing and our server was very helpful when we asked on what some favorites were. We will definitely be back and highly recommend checking 1936 out.

Did a day trip to north beach and was contemplating going to our go-to restaurant across the street but decided to give 1936 Bar & Grill a try. It's a part of the resort. We went to the third floor and sat inside to escape the heat. We went around 2:00, and it was packed. The seats with great beach views were taken but we still enjoyed the ambiance. The service was a bit slow, but I think it was because they were busy. We got the cobb salad, the seafood pasta (which was at market price), and the French Fries. The french fries were my least favorite. The salad seemed fresh and was filling. The seafood pasta was also very tasty, and we cleared the plate.

We went here for My Mothers 88 bday lunch. We thought the Rod n Reel restaurant was opened but they were still renovating so this was the next best place. Ambiance has the waterfront feel which was cool. Customer service was professional. The food was just okay nothing special. My Mom did like the crab cake sandwich and my daughter liked the steak frites. Three of us had a salad. I wouldn't order the salads the green lettuce mix just didn't have any flavor to it. If I went to Rod n Reel and the Restaurant wasn't open, I will return but other than that I wouldn't.

Stopped in for lunch . It was a lovely day out so we decided to sit out on the outside patio. Our food and server was terrific. We picked this restaurant because it was on the water. I would definitely recommend.

Wings

Really want to like this place since I live a mile away. Second time here. Wife's crab cake was okay but my wings while tasty I can't get past the rubbery skin! No crisp at all. Second time here and was hoping they figured it out. They are doing so much in the way of enhancements to the property that they are killing themselves with chefs/cooks. I get that North Beach isn't going to attract top chefs but to spend millions in making the property beautiful , why not overpay a chef. The Rod and Reel is under construction so when that reopens are we going to have average chefs? Really hope not.

Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. The wait for our food was quite long and when it came out, it was cold. I do think it would have tasted better warm and more seasoned. In addition, we got the rose sangria and it was watered down. The view outside was nice but our table was right by the parking garage entrance so it felt like we were almost in the parking garage. We were able to move once another table cleared off.

The service is great. The food was decent for lunch but there are locals that frequent this place which can be quite loud. We will be back.

"Why did it have to snow tonight?! We're stuck in this hospital...when we should be following that…read moremonster's trail," Roberto DaCosta (Sunspot) shook with anger as he expressed a desire to seek revenge against who or what attacked their teammate, Danielle Moonstar, leaving her on an operating table on the brink of death. "Waste o' time, Bobby, you won't find the critter there," Sam Guthrie (Cannonball), the oldest of the teenagers that make up the New Mutants, responded, "It'll be here." "What are you talking about, Sam? Explain yourself!" "Stands t' reason, ever since we've known her, Dani's had a special fear of a spirit bear she said murdered her parents. None of us really really gave the story much credit, after all who believes in magic?" Sam paused oh so slightly before continuing. " 'Cept Illyana's a real witch, an' we fought demons and sorceresses. Maybe Dani wasn't kidding." Sam shifted his tone to reveal his evidence. "Illyana tells me Dani spent the last week or so in the Danger Room fighting bears! T'night, she walked out into a [winter] storm, alone, armed with a bow an' arrows an' wearing war paint! And got mauled. We were wrong t' doubt her. We should'a listened, we should'a seen the signs." Whenever my wife and I visit a restaurant or bar for the first time, whether we are there by ourselves or--in this case--treated to a meal by our favorite neighbors--I can count on her to sort through, heed, and pick up on every nuance in every aspect of culinary service that is there to be sensed. In this case, at the Dockside Restaurant & Sports Bar at 421 Deale Road in Maryland, the food was mostly wonderful, and the prices were more than reasonable for this economy. What prevents Dockside from receiving at least four stars was primarily the service. Two orders of fries, one sweet potato and one regular, weren't hot; and although our waitress reluctantly brought one of the orders back to exchange it for a new batch, the fries didn't taste any warmer. Our other host ordered his crabcake lightly-fried, only for it to be brought out broiled. He still enjoyed it, but it wasn't exactly what he wanted or ordered. By the end of the meal, it became obvious that, if we return, we need to ask for Sarah, who, although she was tending the bar and wasn't even our waitress, still brought one of our neighbors a fresh cup of Pepsi Zero that she could take on our return trip home. Sarah also exhibited a great sense of humor, an attentiveness and an attention to detail, and, most importantly, remembered with pleasure our hosts, who have dined there frequently. Apart from the pumpkin cheesecake, which was so infused with nutmeg and pumpkin spice that even Linus from Peanuts couldn't have tasted the pumpkin, and the lukewarm fries, our meals were terrific. I devoured the perfectly-seasoned shrimp from the fried shrimp platter; everyone loved their onion rings and their cream of crab and Maryland crab soups; and we all agreed that the crabcakes, boiled and fried, were scrumptious.

Came in on a trivia night, and although we didn't participate we were served in a timely manner. My mushroom swiss burger was nice and juicy for a medium. Ordered dinner , wife first, ordered cup of C of C , Ribs and salad and a potato. I ordered a steak sandwich and French Fries , he came back with the soup , nothing to write home about, we shared it. He then told the wife that they were out of ribs so she ordered a pork chop. 30 minutes later he came out without her salad and told me they were out of French fries so I had to get a baked sweet potato , he went back to the kitchen. Fifteen minutes later he still hadn't come back to the table . My pissed off was compounded by a family that came in 10 minutes after us and ordered after us. They were served their full meal , including French Fries before our waiter even came out to tell us the didn't have any of the things we ordered . I threw 10.00 on the table for the soup and a quarter glass of ice tea and walked out and no one tried to find out why although some staff watched us leaving. Sad , we like to support our local businesses but when you operate like this your not welcome to My business and I want to make sure no one else suffers through this. The owners apparently care more about their sports bar and their loud foul mouthed drinkers . I won't go back and I suggest families not bring their young children in there either. Not many choices in that area and it's a shame the owners are screwing up a great business opportunity!

All the outdoor seating was full, and inside there was only one table available. Most of the tables are larger, so we noticed some groups sharing space, which actually worked out fine. The restaurant has a great open-air feel even indoors thanks to the large garage-style door that opens up an entire wall. For drinks, my wife ordered iced tea and I had a Peach Mule. The mule was good, but next time I'd skip the rim garnish. They also have a big beer selection, and the prices seemed very reasonable. For food, we ordered the brisket burger (single patty with cheese, topped with shaved brisket, jalapeño slaw, raw onion, pickles, and sauce). They offer a deal where you can add a side and drink for $5, so we added onion rings and also ordered the Serpent Fries as an appetizer. The fries came out first and looked great and they did not disappoint. Fresh cut with bacon, pico, scallions, and a serpent sauce (seemed like a beer cheese). Really flavorful, I did ask for ranch, which was an extra $0.50. I understand charging for extras, but not everyone uses ketchup or mustard, so that felt a little unnecessary. The burger came out shortly after, and it was excellent. We split it, and it was packed with flavor. Honestly, adding bacon would make it even better a "Triple B" (Bacon, Brisket, Burger) would be perfect. The only letdown was the onion rings. The onions inside were very thin and overcooked, leaving them dried out with little flavor. Even without the over-frying, the onions themselves just didn't have much taste. Definitely something they could improve. Overall, it's a great spot for burgers and fries, and we'll definitely be back for that. We saw other dishes come out that looked good too, so there's more to try next time.
