My friend and I drove here from Pg county and I wasn't impressed. Server was really nice and the view is also. Our Orange juice was hot upon arrival and we had to request ice.My friend's food looked good however he didn't like that his steak came out already cut up as if he ordered steak tips. His grits were flavorless but home fries were pretty good. My sandwich looked good when it arrived, after taking a bite I realized how paper thin my sausage(s) were. Three of us stopped in on Friday night for dinner and drinks. Two of us were first timers. What I experienced on the inside was not what I imagined after seeing the restaurant from the front. The food was excellent, service was quick and friendly and the prices were great in my book. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The guys had orange crushes which they said were fresh squeezed. I just had a bottled beer. I started with a side Caesar salad which was good. I then had the turkey burger which came with chips. I really enjoyed my meal, especially the pico that came on top of the burger. My friend had the chipotle chicken sandwich and tore it up. My husband, the big little kid, had the chicken tender basket which came with fresh cut fries. He cleared his plate too. The lady who took care of us was very friendly and efficient. Although she was super busy and running around, she made sure we had everything we needed and drinks were refilled in a timely fashion. The restaurant is on the water and had live music Friday night. The live music had to end at 9 pm due to local ordinances and houses nearby. I picked up the check for the group and was expecting it to be a lot higher! I thought the prices were very reasonable. Came to this little locals spot for several meals during our stay in Deale including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. My husband and I enjoyed everything we ate. We really enjoyed sitting on the back boardwalk area. The ducks, Kenny and Dolly that visit daily were too cute. The inside of the restaurant had a very chill vibe with everyone watching football and enjoying the bar. My husband had fish and chips twice and I enjoyed my salad and wrap. When we finally received our bill I was charged for the side I was told I could substitute. The bar is open and well stocked. But, that County fried steak - truly a dish to right home about. I have never had a real steak, lightly and fried. The steak was perfectly medium rare. No steak product/patty, home made country fried peared with mash potatoes, green beans, with hot gravy to tied it all together. What I did not like: we arrived after 8pm and sat outside on the deck near the water. There were too many drunk and vulgar younger people. Weather was beautiful and we wanted to sit by the water for a meal. Happy Harbor is perfectly located in Deale, MD and a better choice when not wanting to face the crowds and parking in DTA. Food was wonderful. We started with a cup of cream of crab soup which is far more than a cup and truly outstanding. Large chuncks of crabmeat and seasoned perfectly. Very filling! One of us ordered the Harbor Wrap that was very good and I enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Wontons that were wonderful beyond belief. Service was ok but our server didn't seem to want to engage with us in any way and when we needed refills of water and Sprite, she could not be found so a different server refilled our drinks. She was kind enough to let us know the kitchen was short staffed and the wait for cooked food would be 30-45 minutes and why we chose the items we did that did not require cooking (and we were pleased). Ambience is love or hate. This is a local gathering place and the Friday night we visited was rated PG-13. We were seated inside looking out over the water and outside deck that had very loud live entertainment, copious drinking, drunk-dancing near the band's stage, large bar with questionable food/drink handling protocol, and smoking. However, somehow it all worked for us, we danced in our seats, but may not be the best place Friday and Saturday evenings for families with young children. Well I absolutely had a blast there and the singer that day was awesome and his Girlfriend sang with him too! Both were really fun to listen too and sing along with! Now on the waitress she was awesome too Ava very friendly and made sure we were taking care of! Now on the food the mushroom flat bread was delicious and so was the ultimate Grilled Cheese sand and drinks were delicious too and very good priced! Food was nicely price too! Well, let's start with the good. The location is pretty nice to be right on the water. And the food we got was pretty tasty - crab dip appetizer, bacon-wrapped scallops, crab cake, and Caribbean jerk shrimp - not the best ever but it was satisfying. And... that's about it. The restaurant itself takes "casual" to a whole other level. The bar had more patrons than the dining area, and those that were seated at the tables were still quite loud and rowdy. So it wasn't exactly a relaxing atmosphere if you aren't into that sort of thing. But the worst aspect of our visit was by far the unorganized and unprofessional service. Our waitress was kind of nice, but she very clearly didn't care about her job and had no desire to be there. It took a long time just for her to come talk to us, then again to bring drinks, which made it even worse when she messed up my order. I'd asked for the bacon-wrapped scallops entree which comes with 6 scallops, but she put it in as an appetizer so I only got 5. When I asked about it she put the blame on the kitchen, despite the receipt saying clearly she had marked it as an appetizer, and taking more than 20 minutes just bring out one dang scallop. There was another supposed employee by the name of Kiley who hung out frequently at the oyster station near our table and brought plates of food to other customers - sitting on the counter, making out with the guy shucking oysters and drinking multiple beers the entire time. I assumed she and her boyfriend were regular employees, however she made sure I "got my facts straight" after my initial review - regardless of whether she officially works here or not, serving customers means she represents Happy Harbor while providing a service on their behalf, and neither her behavior at the restaurant nor her messages to me afterwards give off the greatest impression. This place reeks of an "I don't care" attitude that is very off-putting and should not be so prevalent when serving customers. Maybe if the employees put a little more effort into their jobs then I could give Happy Harbor a higher rating, but that's sadly not the case. If I was the owner, I'd be absolutely horrified. read more

I had a wonderful cream chipped beef with 3 thick slices of toast and tomatoes with coffee refills for $10.75; $14 incl tax and tip. Coffee arrived immediately and food within 20 minutes. Service is really slow so try and order everything in the beginning from apps drinks and main entrees. We ordered the fish and chips. Greasy and So Soggy dripping in cooking Oil. Both my husband and I bit into the fish and it wasn't crunchy and it literally gushed out oil. The fries were so disappointing. How do you mess up fries? Came in today for Thanksgiving - they opened today at 2:00pm. We ordered the Thanksgiving turkey dinner for $10.99. It was a plate full of yummy goodness.
