My wife and I came for dinner and a gift card. The gift card was for another family. We figured they might like this place. We ordered cream of crab soup, a Chesapeake salad, and a Chef salad. The cream of crab soup was thick and had plenty of shredded crab meat. Unfortunately, it had too much Old Bay seasoning which made it quite salty and somewhat spicy. There was so much Old Bay that the taste of subtle flavors was overpowered. There was no noticeable flavor of sherry wine, butter, or cream. This is not a seafood restaurant, so I didn't expect it to be great. It had some depth of flavor with a good amount of crab. So, it was decent tasting, but the Old Bay seasoning needs to be decreased. Unless you're an Old Bay freak:)    The Chesapeake salad had mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, hearts of palm, cranberries, sunflower seeds, avocado,  green olives, and feta cheese. They had 10 types of salad dressing. FYI, the spicy ranch is ranch dressing with Old Bay seasoning. We picked balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The dressing had a zesty sour flavor with no sweetness. I don't think it was a balsamic vinaigrette. If it was a zesty Italian dressing, then it was good. Everything was very crisp and fresh. Overall, this was a very good vegetarian salad.    The Chef Salad had mixed greens, bacon, ham, cheddar cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, mushrooms, croutons, and sliced hard-boiled eggs. We chose ranch dressing. All of the components were fresh and flavorful. They were cut into small pieces so that eating them was not cumbersome. If you've ever eaten at a restaurant with bad preparation, you'll know what I mean. Kudos to the prep people who work here. Great prep work on both salads!! The bacon was real bacon sliced into square pieces. This was a nice touch that made this salad stand out from other restaurants' Chef salads. Loved the combination of ingredients in this salad! It was very satisfying and filling.    The service was cordial, responsive, and reasonably quick. The restrooms and dining room were clean. The atmosphere was laid-back and casual. There is enough variety on the menu to satisfy most people. We plan to visit again.

Had such high hopes. Beautiful location, and little wait for our party of 7 on a Sunday afternoon…read more Server was initially very attentive, but then stopped coming by. Crab dip was good, but the ahi devlied eggs had tiny pieces of tuna, and were disappointing for the price. Loaded Bloody Mary took a while for the "bacon and shrimp" garnishes, then came out with no shrimp (which had to be asked for and was brought out later). Food came out at different times, and 4 of us were almost finished by the time the other 3 entrees came out. Soft shells of the sandwich special had funnel-cake sweet batter and 2 of the 3 we ordered seemed like the crabs were past the prime of soft and were hard and chewy. Skate special had a "unique" flavor and texture, but was tolerable. Saved room to try dessert and got both the carrot cake (more like layers of blondie separated by regular cream cheese) and the blueberry creme brulee, which tasted good but did not have a smooth texture. Bussers were great at clearing the table, and brought boxes since we hadn't seen the server. When check came, we decided to pay with cash to avoid the 3% fee. When reviewing it, we found we had been charged for 2 beers that had not been ordered (which we may not have noticed if we had paid by card). The manager was responsive after we were able to get her attention and quickly corrected the check and took the payment because our server did not return. Highlights were the sides of stewed tomatoes and mac and cheese- oh, and the water was good when we were able to get refills.

Yo girl been trying to eat a little healthier and was looking for some baked or grill fish. This restaurant did deliver. The grill tilapia and broccoli was pretty good. The portion size was on point. My son wanted their crab cake burger which I had to taste and it was delicious. They offer mumbo sauce with their fries and it is banging. Got a nice little kick to it. The corn on the cob is so so. Its not bad but I just had better. Its too greasy for corn on the cob too. So confused about that. Any who, I spent $40 for everything which was reasonable for 2 meals. I will definitely be back to try other menu items. The cashiers here are super friendly which is always appreciated because its seems like people are losing basic manners. So thanks ladies for your kindness it didnt go unnoticed. Would I recommend this restaurant, yeah I would. Its not spectacular but its pretty good and you get enough food for the price. That itself is worth it. So go and visit so we can keep restaurants like this open in our community.

4.5 stars. I cannot…read moreoverstate how friendly the staff here is. Very welcoming, very patient, very kind. Set a really great tone for my visit. There are surprising number of chicken options here for a place called, "This Is Seafood", but not quite as many seafood options as I hoped. I was really looking forward to getting an order of fried scallops for lunch and I was a little disappointed they didn't have them on the menu. I decided to get the Combo #4: 3 whole wings, 6 fried shrimp, and my choice of 1 piece of fish and side dish. For my fish, I chose fried catfish and for my side I chose hush puppies. The combo also came with a fountain drink. I decided to mix their house-made lemonade and house-made iced tea and it made the perfect half-and-half. The wait wasn't too bad, as the food was being freshly made. It was piping hot and crispy when I received it. Those shrimp were huge! Some of the biggest fried shrimp I've ever had...And not those butterfly shrimp either. Whole shrimp, and the tail was removed so I didn't have to worry about accidentally crunching on one of the shells. The catfish was delectable! Perfectly seasoned, delightfully crispy, and absolutely melted in my mouth. So good. I'm coming back for the catfish if nothing else. The wings were perfectly fried, nice and crispy, but they were a bit too light on the seasoning for my taste. And the mumbo sauce tasted too similar to barbecue sauce. I did not like that, so I ended up saving the rest of the wings until I got home to put my own mumbo sauce on them. The hush puppies were also really good. I like that they were fried perfectly and weren't greasy... Even after reheating them. Overall, my lunch cost me about $25 and it was enough food for at least two meals. Can't beat that. I'll be back for that catfish.

We arrived around 6:30 PM and were surprised to see the parking lot pretty empty. We sat at the bar and were greeted quickly by the bartender, who took our drink order. Both of us ordered the Mrs. Maryland Club, which is made with shrimp salad, a crab cake, bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The sandwich arrived fairly quickly and looked good, but right away we noticed something seemed different from our last visit. The biggest disappointment was the size of the crab cake and amount of shrimp salad. The last time we were here, the crab cake covered the entire sandwich and shrimp salad was falling off the sandwich. It was one of the reasons we remembered it so fondly. This time, the crab cake was noticeably smaller just a little bigger than a golf ball the shrimp salad was just 7 baby shrimp and the chips I got maybe 12-15 chips and half of them were rubbery, overall the sandwich just didn't seem as substantial as we remembered. The little shrimp salad had good flavor, the bacon was cooked nicely, and everything tasted fresh. It just didn't live up to the memory of our previous visit, not worth $21 for sure. Service was friendly, and the food came out quickly. The atmosphere was relaxed, and as always, the waterfront location is a nice place to enjoy a meal. Overall, the Mrs. Maryland Club is still a good sandwich, but based on our experience, the portions seem to have gotten a lot smaller. We'll likely return again, but we hope to see the sandwich brought back to the size and quality that made it so memorable the first time.

We settled into our table and were welcomed by Shannon, our server. (There was a little confusion about this, but it straightened out.) The restaurant is bright and separated from the well-stocked bar. I had a Sagamore rye neat, and B ordered a glass of the Rioja. If there are oysters on the menu, you know I'll order them. There was a pretty good selection, and I opted for a half dozen Rappahanock oysters. They were excellent, sweet and briny. We each ordered a Caesar salad, but Shannon advised us that it was large enough to be shareable. More than enough. B ordered the pasta with clams, and I choose the Seafood chowder. The chowder was delicious, but B found the pasta to be too peppery for her tastes. Worse, three of the clams were unopened. We brought this to Shannon's attention, and she offered to put in a new order, but B demured, as she was full. At this point, Owner John Hogan came over to the table to chat. He told us the clams would be taken off the bill, and gave us a gift card, hoping we'd return. He stayed at our table for nearly 30 minutes, and we had a wonderfully engaging conversation with him. We will definitely be going back.

In the winter, there is a great enclosed patio that can be completely opened up in the summer. The dockside bar was closed for the season, but is hopping in the summer months. We ordered a variety of seafood appetizers and main courses to share amongst our group. Everything from the oysters, cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and mussels were perfectly prepared and delicious. Hands down the Cream of Crab soup is IMO the best in the Mid-Atlantic. They also have the half Maryland/half Cream of Crab soup option, which is one of my favorite meals.
