Now, to be fair, the restaurant was not crowded (a late Saturday afternoon in November) so the service was very prompt and responsive (great job, Jennifer). I'm familiar with the restaurant when it was a slider restaurant. It used to be great. It has since branded to a steakhouse and it is an epic fail! One of the reviewers said that it was DC prices without the DC service or quality. I have to say, I agree with that review. The most impressive thing was the sticker shock. The entrées did not come with sides. Those were separate. If you wanted to have your drink refilled, you would have to get up and go to the bar or serve directly. They did not come to the table to check on drinks or if the steak was cooked correctly. Their website does not list prices. A couple with kids came in sat down. Must've seen the prices and left. Really wanted to like this place since I live a mile away. Rebranded as a Steakhouse so thought I would give it a try. In short, DC prices without the DC service or quality. Service- let's say the hostesses and my server interacted like they were very new to their roles. Asked the server what was the difference between the dry aged and regular ribeyes on the menu. He said size. Both on the menu were 16 ounces. Food- my wife's filet was actually pretty good and picked up some of the wood smoke. Only thing is it came with a blob of butter on top. I get the butter and Basil basting in the pan but this. My steak, 16 ounce bone in rib eye which was very wide and barely 1/4 inch thick so no wonder epic fail on the medium rare request. First bite even the juices tasted like butter from the butter sitting on top. Brussels were great. Here is the thing, learned they don't cut their own meat and was told this is the size of the ribeye they get. Not a steakhouse that gets to stay in business charging $65 for my very thin rib eye. I really liked the look and concept of the restaurant and service was good. The restaurant had plenty of space and was clean. However, that's where the positives ended. We all left hungry because of the small portion sizes. The brisket was too bland and dry. The onion straws didn't really taste like onions. The fries were just ok. This place was great!! They have an awesome variety of slider selections, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. The person working there was super friendly and took the time to explain the menu and how everything worked, which made the experience even better. The food was amazing- every slider was packed with flavor- and the vibe of this place was just perfect. They were out of the Peking duck slider which was a bummer but I got the sunrise slider as a substitute which was great! It's the kind of spot where you can relax and enjoy great food. Not bad, not bad. Today was opening day. Looks like everything was running pretty smoothly, didn't notice any crazy stress from the staff. Everyone was super friendly. We tried the Korean Chicken sliders and the Lamb burger sliders. Both were super tasty. The Lamb comes with a goat cheese spread. I'd probably ask for a little less next time. I'm a big fan of goat cheese, but too much can be overpowering. I also got the S'mores milkshake...yum. Looked just as good as it tasted. My only criticism is the decor. It's a little sparse. I didn't find the space to be very inviting. Granted, today was opening day, so I can only assume they are still working on a few things. (Full disclosure, I was a real fan of the former restaurant on this site. But today, I decided to give the new place a try). The Twin Beaches could use more restaurants with inventive cuisine. City Sliders bills itself as Fusion Cuisine, and I was very pleased with the food I tried today. When I walked in, around 2:20 on a Sunday, thinking of having a late lunch, I was greeted very warmly by the hostess. I asked to sit at the bar, which is a warm and cozy spot. I ordered a draft beer (Stella Artois) and checked out the menu. I settled on two sliders that I wanted to try, the Cauliflower one and the Korean Fried Chicken. I ordered them at the a la carte price so I could sample two different types. The very friendly woman who was tending bar mentioned that the kitchen was switching over, so it might take a little while for the food to come out. I had missed the fact that they serve Sunday brunch from 10 to 3 pm, and that menu also looked very good. Anyway, I did not have to wait for my food. The sliders came out promptly. The cauliflower (vegetarian) slider was delicious. It was nicely seasoned, had a smear of goat cheese on it, and the brioche roll was tasty. But the big hit with me was the Korean chicken. It came with pickled onions and a slice of radish. Really good. I ordered another beer and watched the March Madness basketball games (they have added a second screen in the bar). I liked some of the updates the new owner has made, including light fixtures. This property is a vintage North Beach inn building and a local treasure, and it retains that charm. So excited for a new option in North Beach...City Sliders at the Westlawn Inn! We went on opening night. It was crowded (as expected) but the staff handled it very well. Our server, Amber, was friendly and very knowledgeable. You did not get the feeling that it was anyone's first day on the job. There were three of us and we all ordered entrees which included two sliders and a generous serving of fries. We tried the cheeseburger, the Cuban, and the Crispy Cod sliders. They were all delicious. The fries are the super skinny kind and come in a cute little basket. They have gluten-sensitive buns (yay!) and generous toppings on the sliders. We also HAD to try the yummy milkshakes...salted caramel, strawberry, and vanilla...we got them to go. Hoping they make the shakes a little thicker...I feel like they would melt quickly during the summer but they tasted great! They should have their liquor license early next week and we plan to visit the bar when they do. The bar area is still small so a larger bar would be great. If you visit for dinner, I highly recommend reservations which you can make right from their website. Overall, a great visit and a fun, casual place to go with friends. What a shame. The place is beautiful, the menu great. But that is the last positive thing I can say. We ordered sliders and when they came out the kitchen just put them on various plates. So we ended up having to switch sliders around to the people that ordered them. The service staff is obliviously not well trained. We had to ask for more cocktails, when one person ordered the service person did not bother to ask others. The food is great but that's the extent of the positive. This restaurant is very confused as to what it wants to be. I like it but the menu is massive with a couple dozen slider options...i have concerns about the freshness of the food I am being served with this much food stock on hand. The bar prices are far too expensive and they don't have boozy seltzer. The food is delicious but overpriced by a couple dollars for pretty much every item. The bartenders and waiters are all very nice and seem like they would excel if they had more business. It's located in a beautiful old house by the bay, a great location. But the ambiance is caught between wanting to be some strange fine dining burger joint (definitely not working) and a casual slider spot (would be perfect). To the owners i say cut the menu in half and figure out what impression you are trying to make at the beach. Absolutely delicious, 10/10 will be coming back. Brittney was our server, she was phenomenal and checked up on us in perfect intervals. The setting was nice. Had a "reservation" this time around as last time when we tried to "walk in" at 5pm like a normal patron they were all booked, with almost all seating available inside and outside, and these "reservations" were for 6pm. None the less, we ordered basic drinks, water, Coke, gtg. Food we got the kids plain sliders with fries. Ok, gtg We got 6 total sliders to share. Lamb burger, Peking duck, Korean pork belly, and fries. All ok, but nothing to "crave" and come back for. Why? Well I know you're not making Peking duck or pork belly to order for a slider, but the actual slider could taste like it came off the griddle vs ours tasting like they came from the microwave. My daughter chose this restaurant for her birthday. Mistake. Good: Malcolm was great as a server. Bad: food was blah. Look the slider concept, like tapas, is a rip off If not done right. These are literally tiny burger sized sandwiches that are priced like a real meal and here, take forever to be prepared, and arrive tepid in temp and flavorless at best. Point: in DC, around Thomas Circle, you know the restaurant, if you ordered a BLT and the menu said Applewood bacon and truffle fries, you received a slab of bacon, and fries cooked in truffle oil, salted and seasoned, not to mention a sandwich professionally prepared. Here in North Beach you get 2 pieces of Safeway bacon, and a McDonalds sized regular fries with some light seasoning, mostly garlic powder. Seriously? The fry up-charge is $2.50, and the two sliders are not even Applebees appetizer sized. 4 half slices of bacon, plus a small fry, for $20. Appealing? The Korean chicken? Bland and luke warm. Wife was not impressed. Sweet potato fries were good. $20. The Vegan sandwich, all sauce. And still not much flavor. Birthday girl, apologized for picking this restaurant, but pointed out no one had to cook. Yippee! I get its a tough business, but this is not right. Finally, owners/managers should know better than to ask if "everything is ok." You should have never let it leave the kitchen without knowing it was the very best, looked good, and was steaming hot. Hard to enjoy a craft cocktail without liquor... - 2nd trip kitchen was backed up and we just chose not to wait 45-60 min - 3rd try we watched 3 parties walk out while we waited for for our table 10 min past our reservation ("kitchen was down"). First time to this new restaurant we went for a late lunch it was around 2:30 we were the only ones there. Posted at the door is a sign NO CASH payments so make sure you only have a debit or credit card. Wife and I both ordered ice tea it was so week you could see threw it. Wife ordered the pulled pork sliders came with 2 sliders and skinny fries I ordered Nashville hot chicken sliders that came with skinny fries. They looked very good on the trays when they came out, my wife said her sliders were very good but the fries were kind of mushy in the middle like the should have been cooked longer. My Nashville chicken was good but the pickle was larger than the chicken on both sliders and there really wasn't any sauce on them they were kind of dry. The manager/owner came over and I asked if some sauce, after we ate he came back over and we suggested that they cut the pickles much thinner and put more sauce on them. For the prices you should be able to mix up the sliders as long as they cost the same. read more

Very nice first visit here. Everyone liked their sliders. We tried brisket, portobello, and salmon. All were flavorful, had toppings that accompanied them well, and were cooked nicely. We are going to return to try milkshakes soon, and another good visit could get them to five stars. The kitchen seems to be executing well, with good ingredients. I came here alone off a humble not knowing it was a food spot and WOW!! This place is a hidden gem, when I parked on the front and went in the door there was smiles and greetings. I was seated, the waiter ( I can't remember his name) went over the menu with what price goes with what I mean it was AWESOME! The waiter was coming to check if I was ok the whole entire time and what REALLY IMPRESSED me was the manager (don't remember his name either) had 2 drinks but he even came not once but twice to make sure I was ok I LOVE IT! I got the crab cake slider, truffle fries, a brownie with ice cream, Long Island ice tea and a glass of Merlot. If you ever near here slide by and try them out you won't be disappointed. read more

The food and drinks are consistently good. This is a low key beach town restaurant that has become my favorite place to stop at when I'm in town. The porch with the ceiling fans is absolutely delightful on a summer day. My fave are the portobello and mozzarella sliders with a side of sweet potato fries. If you want to drink something light with alcohol try the Crush-orange is my favorite. There's some partial water views on the porch. I've not been upstairs, but I'm going to try that one evening. THE WORST PART OF THIS PLACE........The owner steals from his employees he keeps 10% of all credit tips and tips out no support staff. The owner also makes it a point to make his staff cry. If he cant get you to cry he makes sure you know he's in control. He would holds things you need a lot of like limes and lemons and make staff ask him every time they need one. Only half the kitchen staff wears gloves in the kitchen the other half keeps same gloves own to go to the bath room. The half cooked meats/vegan products are left in containers on the side of a hot grill. The desserts are all frozen and microwaved. The staff is told to lie to guests about it and tell guests the desserts are made in house fresh daily. Truly a very sad and unhealth environment for so many reasons. read more

Let's say you're looking at slider options which are priced the exact same as another option. For some idiotic reason the "entree" which includes 2 of those sliders and a side do not match. Some were a $1-$2 more. Why? Are the fries you get somehow $2 more special depending on the slider choice you make? Choices: Charged more to mix and match. -- There's well over a dozen slider choices. However with an "entree" your only options are 2 of the same slider. If you want to try two different ones (even if those two options are priced the same) and also get fries, well, now you're paying even more since the sliders and fries are priced À la carte. About $4 bucks more just because you wanted to try out two different flavors. Seriously, why not just charge the higher of the two entree's price for making your own combo or something. Give your customers some incentive to try more than one thing! Presentation: Decent. -- They look pretty good. But... Food quality: Terrible. -- Listen, I've been completely honest, but this is the most important part, and I'm not pulling any punches. I had tried 2 different chicken sliders, paying the extra $4 to do so, and what I got (and what you will get, too, based on the other reviews) is some pounded down bite (yes, I literally mean bite) of breaded chicken that's thinner than a pickle slice. I'm serious, it's about as thick as 2 dimes. Some reviews said "the pickle was too thick." No, buddy, that pitiful excuse of a piece of chicken is way too thin. Imagine pounding down a tiny chunk of chicken to schnitzel thinness, then you think to yourself, this this way too think, so you pound it down to half that thinness and split the original one bite of chicken between two sliders. When something is that thin it's also dry. Add to the fact they barely put any sauce on them (see other reviews.) I really don't want to say it, but it's true: you'd get a better chicken sandwich at McDonald's or any other fast food places than you would here. You'd get a lot more chicken, it would be more flavorful. And it would cost you less. Verdict: -- If they don't make some changes, I don't think this place will last a year. Didn't taste any chicken on the $6.95 Nashville Hot Chicken slider because the pickle slice was thicker than the chicken which overpowered the other flavors. Wasn't expecting shredded duck on the $6.95 Peking Duck slider listed as "crispy duck" probably because I've come to find a lot of food in MD is battered & deep fried. My mistake but now y'all know. It tasted mostly like the sauce and reminded me of pulled pork. Both tasted okay but not for the price in my opinion. The $4.99 fries were miniature and soft, but a handful dunked in ranch tasted fine. The restaurant was clean. Will be back to try other menu items! read more

Ugh, I hate leaving bad reviews, but I'm hoping this might help? The waitress was great! So none of this is a reflection on her! Yes, the pricing alone takes this down to a 3 or 4, but the food was decent enough to keep it to 3 or 4 stars. (Note: I have traveled extensively for work and am used to city prices on food, but maybe consider the locale when setting prices?) But that wasn't enough of a complaint at all to leave a less than stellar review. We ordered two milkshakes to go at the end of the meal because our 4 month old needed a nap: my husband a large, me the smaller size. A total cost of $20. (Again, that's fine! But at that price point you'd expect better than the following). Obviously, if we were ordering to go, it would either be me carrying it while walking or directly in our car. The owner (or GM at the least) brought out our milkshakes. I was so taken aback that I didn't say anything. (Normally I would have in this situation.) I also wouldn't have been so in awe of this if it had just been the waitress or another regular staff member, but the owner thinking this was okay??? The milkshake cup had clearly broken or overflowed. Instead of another cup? They put Saran Wrap OVER the cup and lid. The cup was still leaking down the side. It got all over my pants, all over the cup holder. Mind you, a to-go milkshake clearly isn't a new request for them-- they have branded milkshake plastic cups. It would have taken 2 seconds for them to dump this milkshake into a different cup. Instead, the owner handed me this with a straight face. For $9. I got the s'mores milkshake and it should normally have marshmallows and graham cracker garnish on top if we had eaten it in-store. So, instead of putting it at the top of the shake, they stuck the marshmallows, stick and all, in the bottom of the cup (lol...that was fun to discover when I had to go digging in the cup) and then poured about a half a scoop equivalent of milkshake around the two large, stale marshmallows and graham crackers that took up about 3/4 of the cup. Again, the cost in general is not the problem, it's about the quality for that price point. Wiping down the cup holder of my husband's truck was not what I expected to do for a tiny $9 milkshake simply because they couldn't be bothered to put it in a different cup. The fact that the owner brought this out to me with a straight face is probably the most frustrating part of this and what prompted me to even write a review. Come on...you know better. The sliders are okay, but... for that price point, go grab a sandwich from 1936. read more
