Came here for a repast. Because of this, our party took several tables and shared several dishes, so I was able to try several dishes. Hats off to the staff for putting up with our chaos. Most notable standout - zucchini straws. Nice and crispy with a lovely peppercorn sauce. Would absolutely get again. Most of the other appetizers were fine, but standard. My wife ordered a burger and I got the soup of the day. Again, nothing bad. Kiddos ordered from the kids menu (Child #1 is a sucker for a cheese quesadilla), which has several options. Stopped in for a late lunch after hiking the Calvert Beach trail. The crab melt definitely was not lacking on cheese. Service was prompt and friendly. Someone described it as a dive bar. I've been in dive bars and the Neptune was far from it. Clean with nice decor. read more

Most recently, they seated me in the dining room at about 9 o'clock on a Friday night, along with at least one other table. The restaurant's signature item, Seafood Neptune, is the real deal. They do not skimp on protein -- I counted more than ten mussels -- and the generous portion of pasta more than satisfied my hunger. read more

The food would have been ok if it had some seasoning in it. Fish sandwich was super greasy. The steak needed salt. The salad was really good and fresh. This place was recommended to us by family who are local. Place is super cute and is basically on the beach/boardwalk. The restaurant side is separate from the bar side. The bar seems to generally be filled with locals and we'd say it's a bit of dive bar vibe (in a good way?) both the restaurant and bar are small and intimate. The bar was busy at lunch but the restaurant side not as much. There were only two servers so it took a second for us to be seated; service was slower in general, but they seemed to be understaffed this day and were dealing with some patrons making a ruckus in the bar. They were sweet and apologetic. I was after steamed crab legs this day but unfortunately that isn't on the menu so we grabbed some drinks and apps instead. The crab dip was incredible! Came out of the broiler bubbling hot, was so flavorful, and the French bread was hot, crispy out the outside, but fluffy and soft on the inside! I'd come again just for this! The chowder was good, but didn't wow us. It was much thicker/chunkier than other chowders I've had on the coast. It could have used a bit of salt/spice as well. The only redeeming item we had was the corn & crab chowder. If you stick with that - it's a five star winner. Outside of this, our food was over cooked, under seasoned and just not good. The "catfish" was more breading than fish and tasted like old burnt fryer oil. The pizza had almost no sauce and was charred. I don't even think it was made on real pizza dough. The tater tots were unseasoned and also looked like they were cooked in old fryer oil. The broccolini was also over cooked and army green. Right up the street from Rod n Reel so if you're heading to a concert there - this is the place to eat beforehand! Got the old bay wings which were by far the best in the area. They were on the small side but all restaurants are serving those now to save money. The flavor was great. This is a seat yourself type of place. Cozy little high top booths in the bar area make talking with friends easier. Lots of tvs with sports ok. Bartenders seemed to know their customers pretty well. They were shorthanded - as all restaurants are so just be patient. It's worth it. Parking is street side with lots of spots around. Will def return - soon. read more

This was my first time eating at Neptune's, my boyfriend has been in on numerous occasions. Our server was very friendly, and the atmosphere was good! Our starter was the Crab Queso, it was so full of flour that it had no taste of cheese or crab, just flour. I ordered the Beer Battered Cod as my entree. The 2 sides i chose were the Gouda Mashers, and the Roasted Veggie Risotto. The cod was INCREDIBLY bland. No seasoning in the fish itself, or in the batter. The 2 sides i chose were good though. My boyfriend ordered the Crab and Corn Chowder. Incredibly thick from flour, and tasted like flour, once again. Super dissatisfied with our dinner. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who doesn't intend on getting drunk, and eating the food they serve. read more

Really impressed! Two weeks ago we stopped in for a late lunch at Neptune's. It was a nice short walk from the beach. We came in around 2 and there was only one other couple in the restaurant portion and a couple of patrons on the other bar side. We were greeted and told we could sit where ever we liked. Our waitress was great and accommodating. She got our drink order and daughters order right away. They had a decent size drink and good menu. I'm all about seafood so I ordered the chicken breast stuffed with crab over the creamy white pasta! It was amazing and so much food! Our daughter had Mac and cheese and her bowl was as large as ours! It was a great price and homemade! My husband had chicken and fries (not a seafood man) and he said everything was fresh and handmade. Nothing frozen. This was such a great experience and would def recommend and return! read more

Wife and I hadn't been here for 5 years decided to give it a try tonight. The place has been remodeled a little the kitchen is no longer behind the bar it's now located in the back of the dining room. The food we ordered was ok wife had a chicken and shrimp dish had olives in it and I had a seafood dish with shrimp crap clams muscles and crabmeat over linguine with a red sauce. Wife said hers was ok wouldn't order again mine was ok next time I will get something different. We saw a few table with burgers that looked good so we will give them a try. The deserts also looked very good but we didn't get any because our server never asked if we would like desert she just gave us our check after my wife asked for a box. Service was very slow had to ask another server for refills the bus guy was working his butt off though he would make a great server. read more

2 visitors and 2 townies decided to check out the Friday Market. We walked the boardwalk and wandered around looking at everything we could see, doing our best to take it all in. We started to get hungry and the lines for food, beer and even ice cream were out some doors and crazy long. We decided to give this place a try. Our group consisted of a Preggo, a Pescatarian, and 2 major Meat-Eaters. Our waitresses name was Danielle. She was very kind, helpful with the suggestion, and answered our questions promptly. I'd definitely give her 5+ starts alone. Our table ordered the Crab Tater tots, The Cuban (sandwich), Cheese pizza with Ham, the Bacon BBQ Burger, and the Beer-Battered Cod Sandwich. We started with the Crab Tots with the sauce on the side because it had bacon in it. It was crispy and tasty. I felt it needed a little salt or a little more flavor. I thought it would have been even more delicious with a hot sauce. The others thought the bacon creamy sauce was really good with the tots but without the sauce the tot itself was a little bland. The Preggo enjoyed the Cuban, one Meat-Eater loved her pizza and offered her leftovers to the other Meat-Eater(which he gladly accepted), and the second Meat-Eater destroyed his Burger. The Cod Sandwich was nicely battered and it was on a fabulous bun. I didn't care for their homemade tartar sauce, so. I asked for a side of ranch. The Tartar sauce was very cucumber-y. It honestly tasted like cucumber water to me. The lettuce and tomato on top was fresh and in yummy huge pieces. But that is my opinion. The place was packed and very busy, the wait staff were hustling to and from the kitchen. I had been informed that this place had recently gotten new owners and so many changes had happened and it used to not be the best place to eat. With knowing that and how yummy our food was and friendly the service was, if you came here prior to the new owners, I'd recommend giving this place a second chance. Awesome! Just stumbled on Neptune's as a random selection when passing through Chesapeake Beach. Don't past by this modest little corner restaurant! The server Tyfany was so welcoming, competent, and her dining suggestions were so On-target. Everything that came out of the kitchen rivals even some of the so called "best restaurants." The chef here really know how to please the diners with enchanting tastes and creative twists on even the most common of dishes. I feel lucky to call this place my neighborhood bar/restaurant. On the weekends, I only order from their weekend specials. I have yet to not be WOW-ed by an item from the weekend special menu. On the regular menu, my go-tos are the burgers. The fries! Imagine chick-fil-a waffle fries... but better! The chicken skewers with the greek salad? Oh yes! And the mussels! And the wings? My neighbor turned me onto their meatloaf, recently. Their martinis! Especially that blood orange one. Ooooh yeah. They're dangerously delish. I love when they have live music. It's always a motley crew in there - you never know who you'll meet. Sure, some of the patrons can be obnoxious at times, but isn't that true of any bar? Came to Neptune's with a girlfriend who recently moved to Chesapeake Beach. We were bar hopping/trying out her favorite spots. Neptune's is definitely a cool bar and restaurant. We had breakfast at a different place earlier and 4 of those diners came to Neptune's for drinks as well. Bar area is on the smallish side but doesn't feel cramped. It's nicely decorated. Everyone was very friendly. A few of the patrons came on this specific Sunday due to the bartender. She's very well loved. I inquired if they served Crushes. She said yes, orange, grapefruit and a couple others. I was a little disappointed when I saw her use bottled grapefruit juice. Fresh squeezed grapefruit and oranges are they way to go. In my opinion, wink wink. The Crush was delicious regardless. Other diners were eating food and it all looked good. Everyone said the crab dip is great. read more

Terrible food & wine. I got the mussels over linguine which was a lot of mussels (good) but the linguine was swimming in mussel water. Imagine you get a pot of steamed mussels, they don't drain or flavor the water, and they just drop the pasta into that. NOPE. Plus their version of "fra diavlo" was basically just adding a shitton of black pepper to the water. The "broiled combo" my husband got was 3 shrimp & 3 scallops... ummmm other restaurants give him a huge plate of seafood when he gets the broiled combo. The winners were the side dishes - broccolini, garlic bread & mashed potatoes were very good but we don't' want to spend $90 on sides. read more

We tried to tell them politely that we would like to send it back and have it taken off the bill but the owner was not accommodating. The waitress told the owner, but the owner would not even come to our table. Instead he chose to sit at the bar next to the customers laughing and cursing loudly. Bad experience. Never again. We were visiting Chesapeake to hit a beach and this place came up as highly rated. I see why it is highly rated. The staff were very friendly and the place had a close-knit group type of feel to it. The food was only OK. I guess this place is highly rated based on its competition. I ordered the crab, bacon, tomato pizza. It was different and tasted ok but not something I would order again. There was a time long ago when I ate here more than once a week. Back then it was the bad ass wings and the Thai mussels that kept me coming back again and again like an addict. More than 20 years later they're still on the menu and still taste exactly the same - amazing. Popped in for what I hoped would be a great dinner but ended up just having one beer and leaving. It seems I was sitting in a black corner of the restaurant that no one served or noticed. After standing at the bar for a bit to get the beer from a very pregnant bartender, I got a food menu but she didn't seem especially concerned to take my dinner order.
