Dope! This place is dope! The fries are fantastic. The view is chill. Don't ask for a po'boy sammich, they might just make it! And by make it, I mean Funk Yeah!

It's old and just a bit funky...just like I like 'me! Beautiful view, good food, definitely worth the visit. Crab cakes were great and the beer was cold...nice surprise from an out of the way place!

    Fried chicken sandwich

The new chicken sandwich, hasn't made it on the menu yet but it was it worth it. The way they seasoned it reminded of a more tender Chick-fil-a sandwich. I would definitely order it again and do recommend.

Ray's ladies' room takes that whole "women always use the restroom together" thing to a literal level. Howdy, neighbor! Didja get crabs?

Seafood and fried food are decent, options are fine, atmosphere is y'all divey casual with old-school county regulars very clearly passing through the doors each week to share steamed crabs and a banana split. There is a bar area, an area for some small groups, and mostly long tables and classic church-function chairs that have seen their share of crab shells and NattyBoh. Ray's is one of those places where, if you grew up with it, it's Maryland comfort food with a no-frills dining room that needs no more than a beer and a bushel. But if you are an outsider, you could be put off by the grimeyness of the place at first glance. If you get past that, you'll do fine with just about anything on the menu, and steamed crabs are reliably good and usually competitively priced. Their fried seafood is a different kind of fried that what people generally expect from "golden brown" - perhaps it's more of a cornmeal coating rather than a classic batter fry. This gives a crispier, crumbier texture but not the fish-n-chips kind of batter many envision for fried seafood. With a prime location on the waterfront, Ray's would do well with some covered outdoor seating on its ample lawn area. It is strange that there *isn't* outdoor seating when they are in such a perfect spot for it. And outdoors on the river would be especially lovely because inside is nothing to yelp about. Fact is, the place needs a good cleaning, from top to bottom to windows to seating. But now that you know that, you know to just bring a sanitizer wipe for the chairs, and pop in for some seafood anyway. It may be exactly the funky, in-the-rough place you want to go for a brew and a crab chowder. I would give 3.5 stars, but since Yelp doesn't do half-stars, I am rounding slightly up for a longtime, non-chain, mom and pop seafood dive on the water. A clean-up and outdoor seating would instantly add a solid 4th star to this local favorite, but then it might also lose some of the very hole-in-the-wall hangouty-ness that makes Ray's, Ray's.

First off friendly service and location is on the water. It was relaxing and food is bar food at its finest.

I double checked on Yelp and we turned around to head there. We were not disappointed! Went with half pound of steamed & fried shrimp along with half dozen of crabs and order of fries! Each dish was throughly enjoyable. The crabs were warm but not freshly steamed amd the old bay or seasoning used was sprinkled on top and they were not steamed with three seasoning. The meat was somewhat stick to the shells amd there was no juiciness in sight. The fried shrimp were juicy and seasoned well. The steamed shrimp was fresh also but the shell was on and they were not deveined. The cocktail sauce had a good punch from the horseradish and I enjoyed that. The french fries were a good size and for seasoned and extremely crunchy. You could actually eat them while they were still cold. Although they held heat for a minute. He grabbed margaritas and I had the awesome idea of putting some Old Bay in it instead of my normal tahin. So we had all day margaritas and why haven't I thought it was before? I typically do not go to crab restaurants because I love going out getting them myself and preparing them at home. It's going to be that's why . . . . We also grabbed the apple pie ala mode to take home. I love when restaurants have hand washing stations outside the bathroom. They also have a market area where you can purchase seafood and alcoholic beverages as well. My cousin loved this restaurant and vowed to come back multiple times before they closed on November 30th for the season.

When I finally flagged someone down, she said, "Sometimes it's hard to see over the booths." Mind you--we are not short. Both of our heads were clearly visible the entire time. My friend even went to the bar to get our waitress, who absolutely had full sight of us. Eventually Stacie, comes over and takes our drink and oyster order. It's Thursday, so oysters are $0.90 (used to be $0.70, but okay). The oysters were good--we went through two dozen with no issue. But then it was right back to the same problem. Empty glasses. No check-in. No presence. We had to flag Stacie down again to order our entrée--not because she was busy, but because she was standing at the next table having a full conversation like she couldn't see us sitting there waiting. And here's the part that really needs to be fixed-- If you have items on the menu that are no longer available, that should be communicated up front. Not after someone has spent 15-20 minutes reviewing the menu and deciding what they want. Overall: good oysters, but the service completely took away from the experience. Being overlooked multiple times in one visit is not acceptable.
