9.19 Wife and I came in tonight and met another couple for dinner. We sat in the bar area as always and totally forgot it was happy hour throughout the whole restaurant. We really enjoy the small plates here -- they're the perfect size and let us try more things off the menu. I do wish they would add a few more small-plate options to give us even more to choose from. I wasn't able to add any photos to this review since I've hit my 85-photo limit and need to delete older ones. Tonight my wife had the wedge salad with chicken fingers. Our guests had the fried cauliflower, chicken fingers, grilled chicken with fried potatoes. I had the chicken and biscuits. Everything was very good tonight. I do wish the wedge salad came on a slightly larger plate so it's not falling off the edge, but the flavors were excellent. As always, all the food we ordered was great. We also tried the seasonal dessert -- something similar to an apple crisp with cinnamon ice cream -- and it was delicious. I tried to post a picture, but again, I'm out of photo space. Overall, another excellent meal and great service. And as usual, it's always nice to see the owner walking around checking with us to make sure everything is okay. read more

We reserved a table for 2 at 6:30 on a Wednesday and got seated right away. The dining room we were in was really packed but started clearing out as the night went on. We ordered the crab pot pie, heritage burger, risotto balls and a small portion of the short ribs. Pot pie crust was great but a bit on the salty side. The burger was cooked well and beef tasted very fresh. Our favorite was the risotto balls and short ribs. The risotto was crispy, a bit cheesy and paired with a really solid marinara sauce. The short ribs were cooked perfectly, melted in the mouth and paired with mashed potatoes. Service was a bit slow since they were really busy but the waiter apologized for the wait and checked in several times throughout the night. Haven't tried this place again since they reopened until tonight and am so sad I haven't been back sooner; everything was amazing!! I was greeted by friendly faces and told them I had a reservation. My party was sat immediately to a table already setup with menus and a high chair for us. Our server Nate was so kind and attentive which made our visit even better. He recommended their popular dish of "Short Rib Pot Roast" and oh... my... gosh... it was fantastic and had SO much meat! So much in fact that I actually had enough leftovers for a second meal. The rest of my party enjoyed their entrees. One item that is a simple side dish to their sandwiches stole the show at our table. The broccoli slaw, may be a little side, but packs so much flavor!! We were greeted when we walked into the 'foyer' of the restaurant and were offered the bar area (a bit loud and sounded like a good time) or the dining room. We sat un the dining room- set up in the sitting room area of the house. We ordered light fare and the portiins were more than enough. It was absolutely delish! The poutine fries, taco and sandwiches were great. The flavors of the Bahn Mi sandwich were on point. STARTER Tuna Duo Tartare & Sashimi, Avocado, Orange, Lemon, Three Citrus Dressing, Cilantro (GF) 14 *avocado was still too raw so it needed to be a lot more ripe to complement the tuna and both the tartare and sashimi lacked seasoning ENTREE Crab Cake Blue Crab, Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Sautéed Baby Spinach, Remoulade 29 *crab cake had more breading that I expected and was not jumbo lump crab which is what I was expecting with the cost of $29 for 1 small-medium sized crab cake, the accompaniments were bland and I just picked at them, would not recommend this dish WINE Cabernet Sauvignon Steakhouse 9/34 *full bodied juicy red They do have an extensive cocktail and wine list SERVICE The server was consistent but I wasn't a fan of the events coordinator because she was argumentative, aggressive and did not want to admit she was wrong! This restaurant was located in an old inn/house. The seating was very COVID-19 friendly since it was spaced out. The food and service was great! We ordered their popular banana pudding and it didn't disappoint. The octopus appetizer was also very fresh and zesty but was a smaller portion than expected - but still yummy! We also ordered the crab pot pie which was a nice savory appetizer. The Potato Gnocchi was very chewy and yummy and I loved the Bolognese pasta. Stopped in for a quick bite after calling to see if there was a wait. The restaurant was completely booked for the evening but the bar was open on a first come basis. There was one 2-top open on a Friday at 5:47pm. Pretty impressive. The interior is quaint and simply adorned. Service from the bar staff was exceptional. There are two menus, one for the bar and the dinner menu as well. I ordered the chicken and gravy biscuits at the recommendation of the bartender. Food arrived in approximately 10-12 mins. The gravy was lovely...full of flavor and vevelty/creamy as gravy should be but unfortunately the outside of the chicken had a burnt flavor to it as it was overcooked. Too bad because I think it would have been nice. The chicken itself wasn't too dry from the overcooking process but it had no actual seasoning on the meat. Maybe it's a southern thing to season meat before breading it but it was bland. The visit was just okay and I didn't finish the food. As for the biscuits, they were dense and basic; did the job but missed the rise and texture of traditional southern biscuits. Overall I'd try the place again because I loved the service and the environment was relaxing. I was the only person of color in the entire establishment but the employees made me feel comfortable. Found this on Yelp as we were driving out towards Broome's Island. The reviews and the pictures looked great. It's a cute building and learning about the historical details was nice. The interior of the restaurant is well decorated and very comfortable. We sat at the bar and had a few appetizers and dessert along with a couple Bloody Marys. Bloody Marys were good. The mussels were heavy with mustard which overpowered the dish. Usually, we'd scoop up all the broth with the bread, but the overwhelming amount of mustard meant it went to waste. You can see in the photos that there are dollops of mustard that didn't get mixed in well. We tried the poutine. I've had a lot better where the cheese curds weren't so salty and melted a bit more. The chicken gravy that goes on top was a downer. I had asked what type of gravy they used and our server checked. When she came back that it was chicken, I was ok with them pouring it on... but I should have asked them to put it on the side. The gravy ruined it for us. The octopus app was tasty, but it was very small portion compared to the mussels and poutine. The peach crisp was meh as the crisp was not crisp at all... but the ice cream that they serve with it was a wow! That's worth a star itself! I'd buy the ice cream by the gallon if I knew where it was from! 1 star for the food. 1 more star cause the staff was great. 1 star for the ice cream although they don't make it in house. So, 3 stars for this place. I feel like the chef has some great ideas, but they need to mature a bit. Foods need a bit more balance. Presentation needs more attention as well. read more

Tonight they looked like they could have used one more server but the bartender (Ryan I think?) stepped up to the plate and did an excellent job getting drinks and tending to us. The waitress had a huge group of about 10 for a birthday party, not to mention 4 other tables including our party of 3. Food was great as usual and always is. The steaks were cooked to perfection. I have been waiting to come here but with their short lunch hours and other reviewers stating it as being not super kid friendly, I was not able to until this week when a friend took me here for my birthday. It was well worth the wait. We both had the cream of crab soup, which the server described as being some of the best she's ever had. After having it we both agreed that she was probably right. For appetizers we had the lobster rolls and the deviled eggs. The rolls were on the small side but were very tasty, as were the deviled eggs. For entrees we had the shrimp and grits and the fried chicken. My friend loved the grits and the chicken came with some of the best sweet potatoes I've ever had and was fried perfectly. It came with gravy but was excellent by itself. For dessert we had the French toast bread pudding and while excellent, it's where service took somewhat of a downward turn. It ended up taking a long time to get and we had paid for the check before we received it to expedite our departure. It didn't work. Besides that though service was excellent. I have visited a few times in the past and loved to go when I am in town. I discovered 2 months ago that I have an allergy that makes it very difficult to eat at restaurants. Not only was the waitress great and knowledgeable about my allergy, the owner/chef himself came out with a paper menu marked with the items I could have. We were blown away by the effort. They were booked solid in the smallish dining room but serve a full menu in the lounge along with a lounge menu. Ordered two cocktails and was Please you surprised that they were above average. Soup of the day was Mulligatawny which was fantastic. Ordered pot roast and a pork chop and both were outstanding. The atmosphere was really warm and service was perfect. Great place found quite by accident. I booked it for a rehearsal dinner. We had the upstairs private room for 20 people. Food was wonderful. We had the Pot Roast, Fried Chicken and Sea Bass followed by carrott cakes and a flourless chocolate cake. Everyone was very happy with their meals. The owner Michael was easy to work with and the wait staff was friendly, accomodating and professional. Good food, good atmosphere, pricing was reasonable. On a trip in the area, there really weren't great looking options for lunch but we stumbled upon Heritage 495 and I am happy we did. The food was great, the restaurant was cute and recently redone inside. We started with the olive appetizer which had a good variety of tasty olives. I ordered the crab pot pie as a starter, which was delicious. Perfect crust, great crab throughout with a delicious creamy soup inside. Finished up with the burger which was also really good - vermont cheddar was the perfect compliment and the brioche bun was amazing. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare.
