They roast their own coffee! Wow! Yum! On a weekend morning (Jun 2026), we were in the vicinity of Solomons MD, and friends said that Bugeye Grill roasts their own coffee. That got our attention! We stopped in at this bright clean restaurant on a late weekend morning, (weekdays they open at 5pm). The French-press coffee was a tasty fragrant medium Brazilian blend. The flavor was well balanced, and it was a good smooth non-acidic coffee We found it to be a creamier fragrant brew, not a darker roasty flavor. It had a lightly malty sweetness and nuttiness, characteristic of its blend of Brazilian arabica, robusta, and hybrid beans. They have different blends from time to time. They really are a full-menu restaurant terrific views of Back Creek, and a midscale-classy vibe. They focus on seafood and steaks and lobster! We saw sandwiches around $20. This time, we came for the coffee. It was luscious! read more

First timers on Solomon and at Bugeye Grill. I will admit that we stopped by this restaurant because it was one of the first ones that had outdoor seating (we were visiting with a dog). The restaurant had a nice variety of dishes and specialty cocktails...I think that I was more interested in the latter. ;) Since I have not visited Solomons, MD before, I cannot comment if the prices are comparable to other places in the area. However, most of the entrees were in the $25 and up range. I thought my fish and chips (I forget the actual name of the dish) were fine, and my spouse really enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. Although I thought the portion sizes for the sandwiches and fries were fine, the serving size of the mussels seemed a bit small. However, this could have been an optical illusion because the serving bowl for the mussels was HUGE, so the amount of mussels could have appeared to be smaller than what it was. I thought the outdoor patio was great especially with a view of the water and folks going about their business. However, some may not like the setup because you are right on the main street, which can be a bit noisy especially if a lot of bikers are cruising up and down the strip. Parking was a bit of a struggle (not the fault of the restaurant). During our visit, all of the public parking lots were full. However, we visited on Mother's Day weekend so maybe there were more folks (including us ) in the area than normal. I'll admit that since this was my first time visiting the area that I'm not too familiar about the ebb and flow of parking. Overall, our server (who reminded me a bit of a young Jodie Foster) was amazing. One thing that I really appreciated was her telling us about a potential delay for the food due to a large party. Although no one wants to hear that after ordering food, I think it's nice and considerate when a server provides a heads-up so diners can adjust accordingly. read more

Wow just wow. Perfect Graduation Dinner . We had both of our children's graduations dinner here. We reserved the top floor and it was absolutely perfect. Crystal seas our bartender and was amazing. We had 25 for one dinner and 32 for another. I highly recommend their top floor for larger groups. read more

The food was decent, but nothing remarkable. The portions were on the small side. The service was good. The ambience is a bit odd. Black, red and white and kind of cold feeling. My husband gave it a score of five out of 10, I gave it a four out of 10. We won't be going back here. There are better restaurants in Solomon's. read more

The New Year's Eve Bash was a bit disappointing. My friends and I went for dinner on NYE and we were not impressed. I started off with a bowl of the crab soup - which I can't lie was phenomenal. Perfect ratio to crab to broth. For my main I got the stuff lobster tails and I've never seen a lobster tail cooked this way. While the presentation was breathtaking, it was almost a tempura-like cooked lobster tail but was it was extremely dry and undercooked topped with unflavored crab filling. On the positive side, the side of rice and sauté veggies were seasoned well. My friends also said their steak had an overwhelming charcoal taste. Sadly cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

We had great seats to watch the sunset over the water. The service was spot on. Drinks were perfect. Two of us had steak and the 3rd was lobster risotto. The presentation of the food was awesome. The service and food were excellent. My son and I went there for the first time last night. He had the ribeye which he said was cooked to perfection. I had rockfish and crab. So delicious. He had the fried oyster appetizer which he said was very good. We shared the stuffed figs with goat cheese served with honey and pecans. I could make a meal out of those. Anyplace that starts out my meal with a jar of assorted olives and pickles already has a special place in my heart! I was extra hungry after working a full day and driving down so I stopped at the first place I saw for dinner and this happen to be it. I arrived just as they were opening so I had the run of the place, sitting out on the sun porch basically alone to be able to watch the water as I ate. Unfortunately this also meant I got to watch the clouds roll in and since I walked over I knew I should make my way out. Saddest part is I only had the chance to have one happy hour drink. Food wise I had the flatbread and a burger for dinner and I know I know, I went to a seafood place and didn't get any seafood but I really needed hearty. Everything was delicious! First and last time here. My husband's dish was nasty. No other word for it. Inedible. I informed the manager he left to eat at another restaurant while my daughter and I finished. Overall, their handling of the situation made for an incredibly uncomfortable experience to stay and eat the other two meals, which weren't great either. After the manager came to ask about my husband's dish, she told me she would inform the chef. Next thing, the waitress was dropping off to-go plates and the tab like our table was a ticking bomb. We were cordial in explaining the meal was inedible. The staff's reaction was unprofessional and showed inexperience in handling this type of situation. read more

They served overcooked Kraft kids Mac and cheese, the shrimp wasn't seasoned AT ALL (literally just boiled), the meat was so rubbery and hard to chew and the ribeye steak was as thick as a piece of copy paper. I went in for an early steak dinner. The restaurant decor was cute and very clean. Since it was early there were only a couple tables occupied. Instead of getting typical bread, they give you olives which I loved. The olives were delicious. The food was well presented and looks so good. When I cut my steak in half it was rare to medium rare. I wanted medium rare which was good. However as I cut towards the end it was raw. It seems like their grill was uneven. When I took my first bite, I can taste the smoke flavor and with the onions and mushrooms it was delicious. When I took my next bite with onions and mushrooms it was bland. The steak had no salt. I was so disappointed. I also had a Rib Eye. For a $40 rib eye, it was the most disappointing cut. I know it was supposed to be fatty but it was like 1/3 fat. It was the worst cut I ever had for Rib Eye or any steak in my life! Being by the water I had to get seafood so I got the garlic mussels. Half the mussels were still raw. It was not busy so I'm not sure what was up with the chef or that they have uneven heat at the kitchen grill. If it was not for the friendly waitress, I would give this place a 2 star rating for the food. read more

The crab cake was lacking the traditional Md crab cake version. Although it was seasoned well, but did not have lump Md Blue crab meat. Broiled, but not to perfection and was a bit mushy. For $28.00 as a cake sandwich, I will not be returning. The service was excellent read more

Went there July 5. Got there about 7:30. Sat outside, waited an hour just for our drink order. 45 min later our drinks came, waited another 1 hour for to order food. BY 10;00 still no food. This was my first stop on the taste of Solomon's Harvest Festival. It was a perfect way to start with a bang. The place has a fabulous indoor dining room option, picture window porch overlooking the water dining option as well as a lovely outdoor dining patio. The ambiance is A1. I've dined here a few times and each time the service and food have been great. I recommend checking out their weekly specials as they have some really good deals throughout the week. They also have wine and liquor flights all week that come with an appetizer. You can get 3, 3oz pours of wine and an appetizer for $20. The liquor flights are $24. My favorite item on the menu is the ginger soy mussels. I recommend sitting in the enclosed porch area for the best view. read more

Went to Bugeyes early last evening and left after waiting almost 10 minutes at the entrance without anyone acknowledging that we and another couple in front of us were there. The host and multiple waitresses walked by us and never looked at us or said a word like we will be with you in a minute. Left and will most likely never return. The restaurant is absolutely stunning, and the boardwalk right next to it is beautiful as well. We sat in the sunroom, I took a picture, and it had such a nice view. The waitress that we had was very nice and thoughtful. She filled up our water when we needed her to, and she packed up my sister's au jus, that she didn't finish, for her. As an appetizer we got the prosciutto figs, they had goat cheese and honey on them, and they were interesting tasting. It was a bit of an acquired taste, but I won't lie, the goat cheese and prosciutto was good. My mom got the red pepper Gouda soup and it was really, really good. For my entree I got the Bok Choy Bowl, and it was pretty good and it was very pretty. Me and my family had a good time while we were there, and it was just a really nice restaurant. We enjoyed and great meal for a great price at Bugeye. We had no wait and sat outside with a beautiful water & bridge view. The waitress brought us a mason jar of olives and glasses of water. I was excited to learn that when you order a flight, it includes a free appetizer. So, we started with a flight of tequila and the Pesto Shrimp Saute- AMAZING!!! It had a ncie presentation and flavor. I enjoyed their Wedge salad, as well. For dinner, we enjoyed the Club and French Dip sandwiches. Both were great! As we all know, the bread makes the sandwich and the French Dip was delicious and crazy soft. We ended with a Smith Island cake- yellow with a chocolate ganache icing. We highly recommend this gem.
