Including The Naughty Gull, Solomon's Pier, Harbor Lights and The Lighthouse. We have had a lot of "good" and "not so good" meals over the years. We had a nice lunch at the Island Hideaway on Solomons Island. It was busy in there even for a later lunch. Our server was very friendly and attentive and refilled our drinks often. We split the crab chowder, which was very tasty! And then I had a fried haddock sandwich with a side caesar salad. I really liked my sandwich. It was perfectly battered and fried. My husband had the crab cake sandwich and a side of the scratch corn. The crabcake was good, but the scratch corn was too greasy for our taste. Overall, the food was really good, and the water view is really nice. Great place for a meal! Side note: their cakes looked incredible, but we didn't try them this time. We had a wonderful time here at The Island Hideaway. My husband ordered the crab cake sandwich with skratch corn and really enjoyed it! I opted for the house made ravioli with Parma rossa sauce (half marinara half Parmesan) and it was also delicious - very good portion size for lunch. We can right at 12:30 on a Saturday and were able to sit outside no problem. We also split the chocolate toffee crunch cake which was recommended and that was also great (the toffee crunch in particular). About a 1-1.5: The Island Hideaway is a family-owned and -operated restaurant in Solomon's Island - their menu is pretty extensive, offering various apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, pastas, entrees, and kid options. We stopped by while we were in the area to have a late lunch - we ordered: +the Seafood Cannelloni - stuffed with shrimp, crab, and ricotta in a housemade pasta, baked, and topped with a choice of cabernet marinara or Parm alfredo sauce; you can also do half and half!; this was actually a pretty okay dish, with the sauces being thick and creamy; the best part, however, as the side of garlic bread that was super garlicky and had a nice crisp to it - amazing when dipping in the sauce! The cannelloni itself was okay, but the seafood filling was a bit overcooked, making both the shrimp bits and the crab rubbery +the Crab Cake Dinner - you can choose 1 or 2 5oz crabcakes; served with a choice of 2 sides; we went for the House Salad and the Skinny Fries; the salad that was served had old/wrinkled tomatoes; just couldn't see why a restaurant would serve something like that to its patrons; we were excited for the crabcakes, but they were less than mediocre; the hot sauce that they had was not a good complement at all; fries were not seasoned at all and forgettable Service was fine, and the place is dim-lit and slightly cramped - if you're sitting at one of the tables set in an angular way, you're bound to be constantly bumped into by the passing service staff and patrons. They do have bar-style seating outside that faces the marina. Parking can also be an issue. The food is excellent. I have been here a few times and have not been disappointed. Look for the specials. First experience and it was pleasant. We didn't get to be seated outside, but the service inside was great. The waitress was very pleasant and although being fairly busy had also the perfect amount of attentiveness. Very nice atmosphere for a warm day. I had the seafood cannelloni and it was amazing. Reminded me of a European cuisine. My husband who is European went for the American experience and had the Hideaway burger which he said was very good as well. I came here by myself and had a great, filling dinner! Service was great and fast! The outside seating area was very nice with a great view of the water. It was nice to watch the boats and there was a nice breeze. I felt really relaxed and left with a very full tummy! The Seafood Cannelloni was very filling--I was really hungry and ate the entire thing! I even got key lime pie for dessert and it was delicious! I would give this place 3.5 stars! Food and service is pretty good, but this is all granted you don't have too many alternatives in the area. We had the crab dip, burger, and ribs. Liked the pretzels that came with the crap dip a lot, the dip itself could've been creamier - felt slightly watery. Burger tasted like a home made burger, bread was soft, patty was juicy. Ribs could've been better - was on the dryer side. Overall though food was definitely above average and if we're in the area, we'd come back again. Not necessarily worth traveling far for though. I really enjoyed my time at the the Island Hideaway! The most enjoyable part of this restaurant is the great view and atmosphere. We sat on the patio with the view of the marina. I would definitely recommend eating outside if you can. I also loved the hollowed out Nancy Drew book that housed the bill. Food wise, we got the crab dip with pretzel sticks which I would highly recommend. I got the mahi mahi tacos as my entree. I did like the mahi mahi in the meal but I think the tortillas were store bought and not homemade. I ended up pulling out and just eating the mahi mahi without the tortilla. The wasabi cucumber sauce on the mahi mahi tacos was great! I got a cucumber margarita that I also felt was just okay. It was a bright yellow color which was surprising to me. 09.01.23 Wife and I came down to have lunch we sat outside at the high top table, it's a little difficult to sit here. The chairs are to tall for the table they need to raise the table or cut the legs of the chairs I don't think they will find a chair the proper height so cutting them seems to be the cheapest option. It was our only option there was a table but it was reserved and the people weren't going to be there for another hour and a half so we couldn't sit at that table, well we finished eating watched a boat backing in a slip show had dessert and the table was still empty. I can understand if it's over an hour and just 2 people that's plenty of time to eat lunch. We started with a salad and for our meal we split a crab cake dinner, came with 2 crab cakes and 2 sides we had the confetti corn they may have called it something different and asparagus. Everything was very good the corn was just ok there were 2 types of corn in it and one just didn't work in it for us, it also had peppers onions and bacon. Being it's corn season some fresh corn cut off the Cobb would have been excellent in this. For dessert we had a wonderful chocolate crunch cake with chocolate mouse and and caramel. This place is literally as the title describes, it is hidden for sure! Which I like, because it keeps the crowds down like other major establishments experience in the area. I was greeted by a very shaky/nervous hostess, and she sat me by the door at first which I told her was not an ideal location for me. She then gave me a much better seat with a window view of the water, which was great! As far as ambiance, the place has a unique vibe and sits on the water. You can sit either on the inside or outside. It is beautiful! As a person of color, I did notice a lot of people staring at me as I ate. Additionally, when I first walked in the staff looked at me as though they had just seen a ghost. This does not bother/phase me, but it does make my question how comfortable/familiar the patrons/staff are of diverse groups of people. Now, let's get onward to the food and my waitress. My waitress was out of this world!!! She was extremely attentive and made sure that I had everything that I needed! The crab cake sandwich was highly delicious!!! The crab was so creamy and tasty!!! I just can't recommend this restaurant even though it has so much going for it -- waterfront, good food and family run. Despite these positives I won't recommend this business because they don't appear to care about their customers. Here's one recent example: 4 people, out on the boat, called in to see if there was availability on the deck -- told yes, there was room if we showed up in the next 15 minutes -- they don't take reservations for outside. We arrived quickly, docked, and hostess said: "sorry nothing open outside." But there are empty tables. The hostess said people are waiting for those tables, which is odd since they don't take reservations for outside and there was no one waiting that we could see. Perhaps there was a staffing issue? Who knows. We gave up and headed down the street to the Lighthouse and were treated like we had TSA pre-check -- we were seated promptly even through it was packed. Boaters often have limited time because of weather and sunset -- we were happy we were given priority so we could enjoy our meal and get home before dark. The food and drinks were excellent and we do recommend the Lighthouse. read more

We arrived just before the last available tables were filled (we did call ahead to reserve a table) & chose to sit inside as it was quite warm outside. We still had a good view of the water & our waitress took our drink order quickly. Inside area is small & lively - not intimate, but definitely has that 'hideaway' atmosphere. Food is good, selection is fairly established with some specials with drinks, appetizers and entrees that allow you to try different things on each visit. The service is good and they are always pleasant helpful and welcoming. They don't take reservations but will put you on a waitlist. They're by the water/ docks and there's indoor and outdoor dining. Must like dogs! Ate outside for lunch and were surprised to see a woman was seated with her dog in a chair next to her. Then another party was seated next to us with a dog that wanted to visit us. Maryland requires that if you allow dogs, you must post a notice out front saying so. There was no such notice. Too bad, because the setting and the food are nice. read more

Well what you do know Chris and Island Hideway has done it again! I mean i'm not sure if I have given multiple 5*Star reviews/rating for the same restaurant on multiple visits.. Now you know that's hard to do.. Let me just share a little on how wonderful and pleasant this particular visit was this time.. First let me give the disclaimer, it's my advice to make reservations because it's seems to busy all of the time.. And of course that's a good thing, a compliment! We were fortunate enough to drop in but we had to sit at a table literally for 2 but maybe two small people because we didn't make a reservation. Buts it kool because i'm with my BeautyBabes and we're in pre-celebration mode for 7th year anniversary.. So i'm good.. Now the young lady who originally was our waitress who we had before on various drop-ins started us off with some water and then asked to speak to Chris the owner. Even when he's not our waiter he always gives us give recommendation on different dishes for that day and special drinks.. So she kindly obliged and when he came over he made a joke to us about clowning saying "of all the tables in hear y'all pick the smallest table to be seated".. I thought that was funny because we both know if even though ww didn't have a reservation they would have accommodated us differently if we requested. Their customer service is just that on point. No when we told him what the occasion was today that we're celebrating solo, meaning without our group of teenagers and grown children. He was immediately like, I have suggested for celebratory drink with a little twist that you would like and it's on the first round is on the house.. Say less, my point is, we didn't have to ask him for it he volunteered it trusting and knowing we rock with his suggestions and recommendations. I mean he is the Owner!!
