Called ahead early on St. Patrick's Day and got a 7:30 reservation. Arrived a few minutes early, but they were able to seat us early right away. We figured it would be busy since it's an Irish pub on St. Patrick's Day, so it wasn't a big deal when it took about 10 minutes for the server to come take our drink order, and another 10 minutes to come take our food order. Then there was the wait. Since it was a busy day, I figured about 30 minutes, maybe 40, so I expected our food would be ready around 8:20-8:30; our food was not delivered to our table until 9:23... and it was a little cold, as if it had been ready for a while, but never brought out. I ate about half of mine and took the rest home. My wife only ate maybe 3-4 bites of hers. After reheating at home, the food itself was fine; I had corned beef & cabbage (yes, cliche) and my wife had fish & chips. We were given a basket of kettle chips around 8:30. The wait was long enough that my wife ordered a second beer (which she doesn't usually do); was a little disappointed that it wasn't comped because of the long wait. What made it worse was there were a few tables that were seated after us that got their food before us, including a party of 6 that finished, paid and left before our food even arrived. I'm willing to give the place a second chance on a different day. I get that St. Patrick's Day is probably a rough one for them. But if the kitchen is over an hour behind, that should probably be mentioned before any orders are taken. read more

I didn't eat any food. My beers were cold and served promptly by bartenders that paid attention. They had two guys playing guitar and singing. They were good, I wish I caught the name of their band/show. I was entertained by all the fights televised. Bare knuckle Fighting Championship is crazy cool! Anyway, this was a good time. I just wish they stayed open later than 10but I get the feeling most places closed at 10. read more

Ok so I have been to Carmines in Philly.. been to By George too.. both in the RDM and honestly the cheesesteak here; kind of rocks. The crisp of the bread, and how they toast it perfectly... The ratio of meat to condiments is so beautiful. The cheese isn't too heavy, but there for your enjoyment. The onions and peppers not too sweet, not too tart... A perfect balance. I've eaten a lot of cheesesteaks... And this one ranks up there pretty freaking high. I'm sure the rest of the menu is amazing... But honestly, this might be the best kept secret of the place. My husband and I dropped by here on a whim, trying to find some new places to go and were definitely impressed. We went on line dancing night so they had line dancing lessons going on in the main space. We sat in the bar and watched. The lessons and music were definitely a little loud, but we we didn't mind due to the entertainment factor. Our food was good but not the best I have ever had. I got the fish and chips with kale and you could tell it was fresh, but the kale was a little greasy. Overall, we would recommend and will be returning. read more

Well I decided to give it another try, the menu hasn't changed the noise level is still the same even at 2pm. Before I continue with my review I want to first say just because you work at a bar doesn't mean that it's ok to drink with customers. The bartender that was working today 10.30.19 had 3 shots with customers at the end of the bar. Her first was a shot of straight whiskey don't remember the second but the third was I believe the Irish Tea again just because your a bartender doesn't mean it's ok to drink on the job. I ordered the fish and chips again when it came i I said this doesn't look. Like what I had the other day that was 2 pieces of dried up fish she said they changed the recipe. I moved the chips off the fish and it was COVERED in grease I even picked it up and showed the bartender the grease running off the fish. She did nothing (see my video) the coleslaw was yuk tasted like it was week old cabbage and other veggies. The chips were ok fries. My friend ordered the inferno wings said they weren't hot I don't care for hot food like that and dipped a fry in it and it wasn't hot . This place will never make it!! If they want to change they need to put a wall make the dinning room separate from the bar again play Irish music in the dinning room dim the lights have the servers dress nicely not skin tight jeans and a T-shirt. Put some explanation on the menu of each item not just fish n chip or Shepard's pie explain what's in the dish. If your looking for a bar to goto this is your place definitely NOT a restaurant. It is a gorgeous building, nice location and very friendly staff. Unfortunately, the 'Irish" aspect of this is a total sham. No Irish staff, no real Irish food. The Colcannon was completely inedible, a greasy swamp of oil pooling from cheese, bacon, butter and god knows what else...absolutely disgusting. Do NOT GO FOR FOOD. This is the beginning of a Kitchen Nightmares episode for SURE. Why do I give it 2 stars? As a bar, not a restaurant. It is a 1 start restaurant with a 3 star bar. Friendly bartender, okay selection of drinks, clean space and lots of entertainment with games. Obviously I got to-go food and got a ten piece wing Buffalo style and got a two more treats on the side (Reuben Rolls and chicken tenders) and each meal was better than the last. Horrible experience......went to celebrate family birthday. There was no one in the restaurant and only a few at the bar. It was a family celebration (private room) and someone brought in cupcakes for the children and one piece of diabetic birthday cake (for the birthday boy.) I believe the on duty manager (Emery) had a meltdown and told us we couldn't bring in outside food (we have done this many times at other local restaurants.) Then she demanded that we all leave. Most of the family didn't realize what was happening. Some didn't have their food yet. Waitress busted her butt and did a great job. Food was adequate. Emery had to show her a##. She not only embarrassed the family, the restaurant, but herself. I believe that there was a misunderstanding about the outside food and the cupcakes came from the bakery recommended by O'Gannigans. Doesn't really matter.....I will never do business with them again, along with the 20 family members in attendance. Plus I will speak poorly of this establishment. I hope O'Gannigans management hires someone that has some hospitality skills. read more

Have been here for dinner about half a dozen times and the food is always great. Recommend the Dubliner, shepherds pie, lamb stew....all are hearty and delicious. Shrimp and grits were some of the best I have ever had. Also a perfect pour on the Guinness pint and the mixed drinks are definitely not watered down. I was part of a very large group and they did a GREAT job accommodating us and giving us excellent customer service. Everyone in my party really enjoyed their food. I loved the wings as an appetizer. They were fried perfectly and the buffalo sauce was delicious. I had the fish and chips- the fish is BIG and I chose the lemon garlic kale as a side. It was good and a must have for garlic lovers. Several people ate the Reuben and all of them raved about how great it was. They liked that the beef tasted fresh and was great quality. If you're super hungry, try the Shepard's pie. It is huge and according to my friend, delicious. I loved that there are a lot of options on the menu, including some Irish items mentioned above and even a great burger. I'm gonna give it 4 stars because it's the only real bar in the area south of Anthony's. It's the old Greene Turtle. Lots of space but pretty slow during the week. I wasn't able to try their food but it seems like a decent place to come watch a game. went to your restaurant for first time today. Had large party of 14, called ahead, was told not a problem. There was one person running bar and waitressing for entire restaurant. She did her best but impossible job, we were standing at bar trying to get everything from water, beer, napkins, it was all but SelfServe. Food was terrible, came out in three different waves, it was quite evident food was all prepackaged, microwaved. Entire table middle income group, none of us would ever go back! I will share this story of this outing often. This is the first time i have ever had such a bad experience that i have complained at a restaurant. It was so bad i went home to type and complain more. We went soon after indoor seating was opened back up after Covid and the staff were so nice and accommodating. We just had wings and pretzel sticks but it all was delicious. Everything was clean and there was plenty of space to spread out for anyone concerned with going out. We had fun sitting with friends and playing the jukebox. Three of the meals came out nearly cold and the fourth was inedible. The waitress was very nice and tried to accommodate us but the food was just.not.good. We should have clued into the fact that the place was nearly empty except for the bar area. It's a shame Calvert County can't come up with a few decent restaurants. O'Gannigan's is the change up Prince Frederick needs. It's not a chain. It's not Mexican. Not that there's anything wrong with Mexican, but we got 'em. It's not 100% Irish, either. You couldn't do 100% Irish in Calvert County. But there's Irish on the menu. There's American on the menu, too. And the staff is constantly asking for opinions and ideas to make things different. There is entertainment almost nightly. There are reservable spaces to do your thing, or for one of the social events. O'Gannigan's is a hub that the town needs. Go. Fish and chips!
