We have been frequent customers since 2019. This past time waited for our food for hours. This was around the same time (July 2025), another loyal customer, Pat S. complained here on Yelp that they also waited forever for their food! Like her, we ate what we got because we were starving. We visited this spot over Memorial Day weekend while staying with a friend who lives just down the street. It's tucked into a charming little pocket town, just steps from a picturesque dock. Inside, it has the feel of a polished Irish pub--warm and welcoming--while the recently remodeled patio outside is beautifully done and perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was excellent, with solid options for kids, and the crab cakes were hands down the best I had during our trip through Virginia. Unfortunately, just not much to write home about. The food was just Ok, and nothing really stuck out. My steamed clams were a bit pricey, one of the 12 didn't open and I was unable to eat it, and honestly, the broth they were in was too salty. Clams already taste like the sea, they certainly don't need a whole lot added to them! Our bartender was attentive and friendly though and kept us plied with water, which was great because it was a very hot day! Recently, we came to an Onancock for lunch at Mallard's. We noticed a restaurant nearby called the Blarney Stone pub. We tried it today and are so glad we did! We had the hamburger sliders with Kerrygold Dubliner cheese. They were cooked perfectly; the meat had the best flavor(and I'm not a Chargrilled burger fan)‍ So did the cheese, but that goes without saying when it's Kerrygold! We also had the crab dip with the baguette. Very cheesy. The temperature was so good and as you can imagine, we finished it all. We rounded out our meal with the chocolate mousse cake. I don't think I'm going to eat for two days I'm so satisfied. The service was really good as well. They were attentive and concerned about the temperature because we were sitting near a window and it was cold outside! The heater in the window was an extremely nice touch. We are already planning our next visit and choosing our dishes! read more

We had lunch today Reuben Paninis very disappointed, the meat was not cooked correctly, not sliced correctly, couldn't find the sauerkraut and was very dry no Russian dressing. The sandwich was not prepared correctly. The Panini was toasted hard burnt and very plain. Sorry been eating there 20 years not anymore. Service was excellent. Food and service outstanding. It's a newer pub feel inside- I was expecting something older due to the location in the historic part of town. The restaurant was very clean. Staff were friendly and liked to joke. Best part - the food. Our table had fish and chips, salmon, and corned beef Ruben. All nice portion sizes- you will not leave hungry. All equally good- would order any of the three again. Fish and chips was a big chunk of cod in a well done batter- not greasy. Well worth a stop if you're in the mood for great pub fare. read more

Though I usually don't have any complaints about my visits here, I was recently disappointed. I got the bangers and mash which is delicious, but I found several chunks of bone in the sausages and some kind of strange wire-like object in the mashed potatoes. Had lunch at the Blarney Stone Pub. I had the special cream of seafood soup with the baguette. The portion is enough and included clams, mussels and shrimp. Looking at the menu and other patron meals, the quality and presentation of the food is good. If you're in town looking at art and antiques, give this pub a try. read more

Went here with my family for a nice lunch. The place is inviting and was busy for lunch time. They were super prepared for kids, offering my daughter (almost immediately) crayons and a fun placemat to color on. Selection of craft beer is pretty good and the food is on par with what I would expect from an American Irish pub. I had the turkey reuben panini, and ate everything on my plate. I stopped in at the Blarney Stone Pub a few Saturdays ago when I photographing Onancock. As many times as I've passed through Onancock over the years I've never managed to get in here for lunch. Today that changed. With most of our work done we entered through the patio and walked into the interior. We were met be the person who I have a feeling was the owner who offered us indoor or outdoor seating. It was a beautiful afternoon so elected to sit in the shade on the patio up near the street. We immediately received menus and had our drink orders taken and a few moments later they arrived. Nothing like an ice cold Coca-Cola on a warm afternoon. Our server took our orders at that point. I opted for a Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. I really wanted something 'Irish' like some Shepard's Pie but I felt like it would be to heavy with an afternoon of filming still in front of me. My friend ordered Fish & Chips. Our order came out after a short wait. The burger was good, and cooked to my specification. The onion rings were also crisp and excellent. My friend said he enjoyed his fish and chips as well. I'm a little disappointed that I left here not having something more Irish themed, but that was circumstances. I'll resolve that next time I'm here. It's good food, excellent vibe and a warm friendly staff. read more

Wonderful patio to enjoy a great meal! We started with local beers from Cape Charles - pirate porter & oyster stout - and the salmon bites! All were delicious! For dinner, one of us had the fish & chips (opted for half size, which meant 1 piece of fish instead of 2...and was plenty!). The homemade tartar sauce was divine - light & flavorful, not just a glob of glorified mayo! Other entree was shepherd's pie, and it was also a hearty portion with amazing flavors! Got the Boston cream cake for dessert as a great way to end the meal! Service was friendly & attentive without being rushed. Def recommend! read more

Staying in the area for a few days we decided to try this pub for dinner. It was excellent. The decor was warm and the staff friendly. The fish and chips was excellent and there was live music that evening. Looks like they have a full schedule of events going on there. I could have stayed around for several more hours, but alas had to leave at the end of the meal. This one is a sure winner. read more

I had lunch at the Blarney Stone Pub today for the first time. It has a great rustic atmosphere that you would expect in an Irish pub. Service was attentive and friendly. I had the strawberry and greens pub salad with the addition of crispy chicken. The salad was very fresh with goat cheese and walnuts and the chicken was hot and very flavorful. I never write reviews- but I had to for this one. Food was very disappointing. Service was awful. Never returning. It took the bartender/server 15 minutes from when we sat down to get our drinks. We watched her run her hands through her hair, touch the POS monitor, touch other things, then put our straws by the mouth piece in our drinks. Clam chowder had 3 pieces of clams and the rest was potatoes- expected more. The shrimp po boy came out looking like the cook threw it together in 10 seconds. I have been visiting pubs and bars for over 40 year. I can say I never saw a bartender work as hard or fast as Liz. I was there on a night that they had a street fair going on and she handled not only the full bar inside with drinks and food but also handled the orders from outside. THE MOST amazing bartender I have ever seen EVER! If she doesn't have any ownership in the bar she should or minimally think about opening her own place. THANK YOU LIZ !!!!! YOU ARE AMAZING ! Our server was incredibly helpful and sweet. A live guitar player/singer was playing that night, which provided some great fuzzy-warm ambiance. We got the corned beef spring rolls and rosemary garlic fries as an appetizer. Both were sufficiently tasty. As an entree, we got the shepherd's pie and the bangers and mash. If I could give 10 stars I would. Blarney's was just an overall great experience. The service, the food, the atmosphere. I didn't get the name of our server but he was fantastic! I ordered 3 appetizers for our table of 4 and the calamari, fried dill pickle spears and Old Bay steak fries were wonderful. I had a cheeseburger cooked to perfection, my husband had the salmon, my MIL had the fish and chips and her friend had 1/2 lb steamed shrimp. Everything was excellent and reasonably priced. We were in town for the NAHRA Trials and Regionals and Blarney's was recommended by our group. Great choice! read more

Stopped in while visiting g the in laws. Nice quiet Irish pub on the middle of a small Virginia town!!! We sat at the bar to get lunch and a drink. The bartender was extremely friendly and welcomed all the customers. I'm definitely going back for a bite to eat and to have a few cocktails next time I'm back there.. People were friendly, atmosphere was cool. We only had wings that were okay. They were out of the corned beef egg rolls which sounded really good.. this was a disappointment but I got over it.. see ya next time!! read more

We spent the evening at Blarney Stone last night with our friend who lives locally. This is a great local pub with great food and service and just the kind of ambiance that is perfect for a small town pub. Elon and Saira made us feel like old friends and, overall, created a very friendly atmosphere. For food I had the Cobb Salad and my wife and our friend shared the Smoked Salmon BLT and whiskey glazed salmon. All were fabulous! If you are visiting Onancock, try this place, particularly if you are Irish! read more
