Overpriced and hit or miss on the food. But my drink--a creamsicle--was spectacular. I enjoyed my Asian-inspired salad, but the base price with no meat was $18. Adding shrimp or chicken was "market" rate. The lightly breaded shrimp were good, but you only get 6. One kiddo got the Caesar salad ($16) and added chicken, which she didn't eat because it "tasted weird." And the other kiddo got a burger and it was supposed to be well done, but it was only medium well so she just picked at it but I didn't realize why she wasn't eating it until the end of the meal. I saw online they had fried oysters and good ratings for them. I think reviews said they were lightly fried, which sounded good to me. I got there early before any dinner rush like around 6pm and was able to order right away. I never had fried oysters and wanted to try them since they're a local favorite in this island area. So I don't know what they're supposed to taste like but I mostly tasted the batter. I think the oysters were mild so that's good that they're not pungent or fishy. But I really didn't taste anything. And another thing that's annoying, the server asked if I wanted chips/salsa, fries or sweet potatoes fries. I said is that extra or it comes w it and yeah it comes w it. One of the three. Well I get charged $3 for fries!!!!! Like tell me which one is free & comes with or tell me which ones are extra charge. I don't like to get ripped off. Especially now knowing the $25 oysters are tasteless. I should have drove 20 min over to the Maryland seafood place where the review said air fried & big portion. Tomorrow I'm going elsewhere. Hands down the BEST restaurant in town. Believe me. We tried Bill's and Steamers and the food tasted like it came straight from Sysco. No joke, but not here. My table got the kids fried shrimp basket with fries and every last bite was delectable. The shrimp was fried, ever so lightly, and didn't feel heavy or oily. The beer battered fries were delicious and super crispy. We also got a sourdough BLT with lightly fried crab and it was super fresh and added just the right crunch to the sandwich. We also got a crab sandwich and it was seasoned perfectly. Kudos and a HUGE shoutout to Antonia, our server, who gave us a rundown of the town and told us the best spots to eat at. I had been to Blackfin's truck and was excited to try their brick and mortar place. Overall, it was okay. It was a busy night (our waitress apologized, explaining that they had two 12-tops and that was the main reason things were going slowly). We ordered the children's food first hoping it would come out sooner, but even that took a while. The tapas menu seems to change a bit, and we got the Crispy Hot Honey Oysters. They were perfectly done with just the right amount of crust on top of a just-cooked oyster. Child #2 devoured them and declared that he loves fried oysters (and he had never had them before here). They sadly had run out of the scallop ceviche and nothing else was grabbing us so we went with the main menu. My wife got a Chicken So-Cal, which has mashed avocado, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle aioli; basic, but she liked it. I got the Baja Fish Tacos (2), which that night was flounder. Pretty straightforward fried fish taco - a nice crema and cabbage with lime was a good meal. Child #1 is a vegetarian and we came here for the solid options available. While he opted for a simple cheese quesadilla from the kids' menu, we also got a Captain Jack, which is a jackfruit-based vegetarian take on the Kalua Pork sandwich. It had a nice shred to it and a little sweetness from the pineapple. Definitely recommended. Child #2 has never met a burger he didn't like and the kids' menu burger was surprisingly large. Fries and sweet potato fries were standard and good. There is an extensive wine list with a lot of sauvignon blancs on the whites list. I got one that was very well described on the list, right down to identifying notes of gooseberry. It went well with my tacos. They also offer several local beers as well as domestic options. I saw someone getting cocktails at the bar, but the menu offered to us didn't include any of those options; I might have preferred a cocktail, but oh well. Our waitress was kind and attentive. We also ordered burrata and that was equally amazing. Their veggie burger was also very nice. Kids grilled cheese was a disappointment though. The food here was okay! Decently fresh when it came to the poke. I'm grateful I ordered the sauce on the side, as my company did not and it was a little much unagi and dressing on theirs. Overall the ingredients are fresh and the menu is probably one of the more imaginative on the island that I experienced. The owners of a once food truck now brick and mortar restaurant should be proud. We had reservations and ended up being seated in a reasonable amount of time. It was awkward to wait 1+ hours between sitting, appetizers, and finally our check. We sat at 6:30 and didn't leave until after 8 as their "last table" but the servers were very sweet. We were originally going to be seated closer to the kitchen but I requested the room facing the street which was away from several large groups/families with toddlers running the floors. They were out of nigiri and sushi but had plenty of everything else. Appetizers were fried well and the poke bowls we all ordered were fresh. Portions of the apps were quite small but then everything else was larger than expected. My partners tacos came out not so great. The breading was soaked through and very soft. 0% crispy. We aren't sure if it were from being cooked improperly (the fish itself was fine) or if the cilantro crema on it had soaked through while the rest of our entrees were being prepped. Overall we would be willing to try again maybe on a less busy night. They still seem to be figuring out service. Menu TLDR; Shark bites (decent, like very soft and fatty fish sticks), hot honey fried oysters were okay but not spiced enough, fish tacos (soft breading like it was not fried properly or left out too long... similar to microwaved fish sticks) had good ratio of meat to taco, tuna islander poke was probably the best thing we ordered with sauce on the side and was very fresh. read more

Very happy with our dinner and experience. My wife would probably give it 3 stars, but I'm going with 4. We went off-season, so it was fairly empty, and one of its two rooms wasn't even set up for guests. I assume it's packed and there's a wait in the summer, but we walked right in. The ambience is interesting. The tables are like a cafeteria, just plain formica or wood or whatever it was. But the floor is polished wood, and the walls have nice, large, colorful sea paintings. So it's more upscale than diner, way more upscale. But yet it's casual. We had fried shrimp that were excellent, and I had a good chowder. The portions were a good size. They brought us the wrong salad (strawberry and spinach instead of beet), and the dressing was too sweet. I'd forgotten we wanted the beet salad, so by the time I'd eaten some of the wrong thing it didn't feel right to send it back. Good beer list, too. I'd definitely go back for the shrimp or other seafood and a beer. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion size. read more

Our off season visit to the island found us at the Black Fin for dinner. The oyster app was super. Plump and fresh and delicious. The Pole bowl was excellent. I could have had more. Saw this place and figured we'd give it a go. Went to the bar while we had a 15 minute wait. I asked about a few drinks but they didn't have stuff to make them. No biggy. My wife asked for a glass of wine but they didnt have what was on the menu. They gave her a different rose'. It cost $10 a glass. I looked it up out of curiosity. A whole bottle is $9.95. We ordered a plain pizza because when we ordered the Margarita there was no basil. She asked if we wanted a half of pizza. I was like huh? I said no...a whole pizza. I was confused. Ordered wings with "Island BBq" and also a side of sweet potato fries. Wings were good but they looked like they came off of pigeons. Tiny. Pizza was a 12" pie. Was pretty good. Fries were good. I get the bill and it was a pizza for $13 then under it said whole pizza +$7. Wife looked at the menu and it was on there. My bad for not seeing it. Who the hell sells pizzas by the half with a whole as an option!!??? $20 for a 12" pizza??? I know im not in NJ and in VA but come on. Server never came back once after dropping food. Came back when we were done. Finally got the check after a long wait and left. Place has a cool seashore vibe. The "Hawaiian" pizza bore no resemblance to its namesake, instead offering an odd mix of sweet and salty with an unidentifiable, possibly spoiled ingredient maybe the bbq sauce. We previously visited the food truck and liked it so decided to come to the restaurant. Rita was our server. We had Hawaiian BBQ wings as an appetizer. The flavor was outstanding but BY FAR the smallest wings in the island (compared to Ropewalk, Woodys, Teagers, Dons). We had a cheeseburger and Baja shrimp tacos. The cheeseburger and shoestring fries were average. The tacos were VERY GOOD. Rita took at least 10 minutes to greet us. Since we had never been there I asked a few questions and she was very short. I assumed she was in the weeds or very busy but NO SHE WAS JUST RUDE. She never checked on us to see how the wings or food was, in fact I had to ask another server for some sauce for my burger. After we finished we sat for at least 5 minutes waiting for our check. When she returned with the card and receipt to sign SHE STOOD THERE TO WATCH HOW MUCH WE TIPPED HER. She spent more time at the table waiting to see her tip than she did the entire night. No doubt the rudest server we have experienced on the island in the past 8 years. With regard to the atmosphere, the place was very cute and nicely laid out. If it wasn't 50 degrees and the light above our table wasn't flickering on and off it would have been better Although the food was ok, we will not ever return to this place due to the server. read more

Went with a group of friends yesterday (10/8} for diner. I was very pleased with the service. Any request was quickly responded to. My entree of Mussels, while very tasty had a number that had not opened, which I assumed were from under heating. The waitress, at my request, brought them back to the kitchen. They were returned a few minutes later, open and properly cooked. Taste wise, they were excellent. I also had the Soft Crab Basket. Great price and great taste and perfectly cooked. Pleasantly delighted! Great bar seating in the restaurant that allowed for nice locals conversation and solid food and drink recommendations from Joe, which proved to be spot on. Started with the smoked fish dip jalapeños, yum!! Husband had the soft shell crab tacos (a first). He described them as a unique, culinary treat and that's saying alot coming from a chef. The food was terrific. Ordered tapas; hot honey oysters and another with clams in a delicious sauce for bread dipping. My spouse was delighted with the Hawaiian poke bowl, with fresh vegetables in a delicious sauce, grilled shrimp and pineapple; he said the best poke bowl he has had. We were so delighted to get this quality meal in Chincoteague., The service was excellent, friendly, attentive. We were surprised to find the building beside the Best Western, the hotel closest to the park entrance, now housed Blackfin. It is a large space, comfortable and pleasant, simply decorated.
