The blackened flounder was great. Our waitress worked so hard to take care of us and was very polite. The whole restaurant was running slow- we could hear other tables complaining while our family was waiting. The lighting was very dim but I noticed some discoloration on my dinner roll. I got out the cellphone flashlight and my roll had green spots. I showed it to the waitress. She took it to show to the manager. It was never mentioned again, no apology made, and no offer of discount for my experience. read more

What a nice spot. Always have liked seafood restaurant of quality, but don't need the pretentious setting. Here just regular folks, and easy going helpful staff. This is authentic, and a good vibe. If you are in the area, by all means go here. Service is top notch . Wow the flounder baked or fried, is simply a culinary delight. Crab cakes are fresh and high quality. If you like mignonette (the usual red vinegar and onion sauce) with your oysters, don't go to this restaurant, because not only do they claim not to have it, they claim not to have ever even *heard* of it. Basically, the prices here are relatively low, and you get what you pay for. One tiny little lemon wedge for 24 oysters. The salad dressing comes in little plastic take-out cups. It's like they don't want you to forget that you should have paid more money for a higher quality restaurant. And this really came through on the service: First, I ordered the local lager, and our waitress brought... an IPA. I said "this is an IPA not a lager" and she said "no, the lager is darker than the IPA." Let's put aside that this was an irrelevant non-sequitur - are you really arguing with me about whether this is the correct beer? Then, I asked if I could order bread. She said "I'm bringing you bread with your meal." Ok. Well bread never showed up so I asked "Could we get that bread?" and she said "No, we're out of bread." Not "We're sorry, but..." It's a local seafood spot right in the middle of downtown Chincoteague. Unpretentious and intimate with seating on both floors. It's been in business for 50+ years. Service was good but it looks staffed by high schoolers not seasoned restaurant staff. Waits can be longer due to its popularity and location on Main Street. The food was good. Our table got scallops, raw oysters on the half shell, a cheeseburger, french fries and coleslaw. We got scallops both fried and broiled, both were very good. The rolls were very good. This is a good restaurant on the Island and we will be back. read more

Rating is only for service. Can't rate the food as no one ever waited on us. My husband and I stopped in for dinner the other night on the recommendation of our B&B owner. Unfortunately, despite it being 7:30 on a Thursday evening and being seated right away, after 15 minutes no one had come to take our order, to offer a drink - including water, or to even acknowledge us. The tables on both sides of us were had customers seated during these 15 minutes and both tables had received table service. My husband and I walked out and the hostess noted she hoped we enjoyed our meal. We went over to the nearby RopeWalk restaurant and were immediately served at our waterside table. If you are looking for a really good outdoor venue with a view, you should check out Don's Daughter directly behind Don's Seafood on Main Street. There is a great bar with refreshing Orange Crushes, beer and wine, and seating right along the main dock. Construction is underway for the additions of a upper deck, full kitchen and restrooms which should be fully operational for the 2023 season. This is a great place to eat with a family. The food is not served fancy, it is served in To Go, biodegradable containers, but you also don't pay the same fancy prices for food. We had a really good clam stripper dinner with hush puppies and summer squash and a fillet of rockfish with shrimp and scallops. Did I mention the view? 3.5 rating overall, not 4. Arrived and were told there as a 90 min wait to eat inside. They have a new covered dining area and bar set-up outdoors across the lot on the waters edge. So we wandered over there. They serve what is called picnic style. Food comes out in paper containers in a paper bag with plastic ware (just like take out). Soup and salad are not offered there. Service was casual and on the slower side which was fine for us. Not a place to come if you're in a hurry to eat right away. The views are gorgeous. Meagan worked hard and was attentive, patient with our questions and pleasant. She waited most, if not all of the tables, ran the food from the restaurant to outside, made my friends drink etc. Friend ordered soft shell crabs, hush puppies and green beans. I ordered fresh fish of the day which was flounder stuffed w crabmeat and the same sides. The meal was tasty--broiled flounder w crab mix was tender and moist, hush puppies perfection and string beans were clearly canned with pork added. Friend enjoyed the soft shelled crabs. read more

Superb! The place was cozy and clean. The service was personable and hospitable. The food was divine a seafood lover's dream come true. The crab dip is impeccable. I enjoyed mine on top of the 'smothered toasties' OMG! Drool worthy. The stuffed fish was truly stuffed, overflowing with seafood, as was the stuffed shrimp. I will definitely be back. 3.5 It's been four years since we've been here, but we had friends along for the road trip and this was an easy choice on a sunny day. Too bad the experience wasn't as great as before. While the food was OK, the service was a little slow. Waiter forgot to bring us drinks, so we all sat there with our food on the table waiting and waiting - who wants to drink a salty meal without even water to slurp down? If you order food, it will come in take-out boxes from the main restaurant. On our recent visit we got the mixed steamer platter - shrimp, crab legs, clams, corn on the cob and potatoes. Don't go upstairs without hearing protection after 8 on a Saturday. The hostess told us the lounge was kid friendly and when we arrived it was. Music was a normal volume. After we ordered but before we got our food a dj showed up and started blasting music like it was a club. It was painfully loud. If we had known we would have chosen to wait for a table downstairs instead of going upstairs. So we took a ride on the motorcycle ended here in VA. Hotel recommended this place for sea food and it's in walking distance from hotel and we want to have a few drinks. But if you got the margarita, advertised as using fresh squeeze juice, be prepared to be disappointed as you sip the chemical tasting, syrupy concoction that was reminiscent of cool aid and metal. The price was right at $83 for three adults two kids, before tax. The NOT SO GOOD: The menu is strangely divided between seafood, vegetarian, and gluten, with others mixed in such as hamburgers. The spinach artichoke sandwich is a hard no. It was a weird hot paste inside a melt. Barely could choke it down. The he rest of the meal was "fine", but definitely lower quality food and portions were on the small side. There is a weird odor in the first dining room. Presumably because it is connected to the kitchen (think of the strongest seafood smell you've ever smelled with a pinch of sewer). First time here for lunch, the resteraunt is very clean. Service was poor. Our server was very inattentive, we had to keep asking for stuff she forgot and some we never recieved. Considering the salad bar was $11.99 it was lame, not many items on it to choose from for the price. I ordered the seafood fettichni which looked good and had plenty of shrimp and scallops but it arrived ice cold. My wife had the prime rib steak sandwhich which was terrible, totally lacked flavor .
