A lovely venue for weddings - albeit outdated. Good food, though unorganized service.

Happy Harbor - Best Country Fried Steak ever

Happy Harbor

We had a quick business trip to the area and stopped here for an early dinner before heading to our…read morehotel. This place is nestled along the quiet waterfront in Deale, Maryland; it is one of those classic Chesapeake Bay gems that manages to balance small-town charm with a lively dockside spirit. You will always find fishermen swapping stories, families gathering after a day on the water, and visitors who came for the sunset and stayed for the crab cakes. The panoramic view of Rockhold Creek is breathtaking. The vibe is relaxed and local in the best possible way: nautical flags, weathered wood, and a bar that feels as though it's been a gathering place for generations. In warm weather, the outdoor deck fills quickly, offering the ultimate place to enjoy a cold beer and a platter of seafood as the sun dips into the bay. It was too cold for us; we hope to make it back here in the spring with warmer weather. The menu at Happy Harbor is rooted in Maryland tradition but isn't afraid to have a little fun. We started with the creamy Maryland crab dip; it is served bubbling hot with toasted baguette slices. It's rich without being cloying, anchored by sweet, fresh lumps of crabmeat that remind you how close you are to the source. Next, we had the steamed blue crabs. Steamed to order, they arrived fragrant, steaming, and perfectly seasoned--the hallmark of a place that knows its craft. My wife went with the grilled rockfish sandwich--local to the Bay and cooked to perfection--which arrived simply dressed with lettuce, tomato, and a smear of house-made tartar sauce on a soft brioche roll. It's the kind of straightforward, fresh preparation that showcases confidence rather than flash. I went with the Captain's Combination Platter, a local favorite, offering a sampler of crispy fried shrimp, oysters, scallops, and a generous portion of hand-cut fries. It's hearty, unpretentious comfort food that's as much about the experience as the flavors. You can pair your meal with a craft beer from a regional brewery or a signature crush cocktail--the orange crush was my choice. As far as the service, Happy Harbor is friendly and efficient, with staff who genuinely seem to enjoy the rhythm of the place. Our server was engaging and quick with recommendations and even quicker with refills, striking just the right note between laid-back and attentive. Happy Harbor isn't chasing trends--it's celebrating tradition. It's a place where the seafood is fresh, the portions generous, and the mood somewhere between a family gathering and a dockside festival. Whether you're a local returning for your favorite crab dip or a traveler discovering the simplicity of a Maryland summer meal by the water, Happy Harbor delivers a quintessential Chesapeake experience.

Our Orange juice was hot upon arrival and we had to request ice.My friend's food looked good however he didn't like that his steak came out already cut up as if he ordered steak tips. His grits were flavorless but home fries were pretty good. My sandwich looked good when it arrived, after taking a bite I realized how paper thin my sausage(s) were. Oh gosh it tasted like I was eating a cheese sandwich with egg. I wouldn't dare order that again. Haven't tried anything besides breakfast .

My husband and I were married at Harwood Hills Farm this past Saturday, the 15th of October. From…read morethe moment we saw this beautiful property, we were obsessed. It's the perfect venue for any outdoor wedding. You can go classic country and full on rustic or add your own flare, like we did with a vintage adventure theme. Either way, your vision will come to life with the help of the amazing scenery and landscape. Honestly, even with minimal decor, the venue will take your guests' breath away. There is a charming bridal suite in one barn with beautiful vintage furniture including a vanity for the bride and her bridesmaids to get ready and take the most amazing photos. Opposite of the suite is the most adorable bar where your caterer can set up for drinks. The main barn is beautiful, with natural light pouring through the sides and it's huge, with tons of room for decorations and personal touches. We used it for our ceremony and it was stunning. The property seems endless, as there is tons of space for tents of any size for a reception or just a set up under the stars in the summertime. There are winding paths and a clearing in the woods that is beautiful for a ceremony or first look. There is even a fire pit, which we set up a s'mores bar four our guests near. Besides the scenery itself, Rick and Terry are amazing hosts. They take great care of their brides and grooms and make sure to keep in contact, making sure everyone is on the same page. The vendors they recommended took great care of us as well. They let us use hay bales to make cute furniture and a lot of other decor they owned themselves, to add to our wedding decor. When our coordinator slacked, they picked up and helped with EVERYTHING. I would recommend this venue to anyone for a wedding, photo shoot, or anything else needing an outdoor setting.

If you are looking to have a rustic, country-style wedding, this is the place to have it. The vistas are majestic, and the setting is magical. I loved the barns and the old machinery which give the place a lot of charm. There's even a meadow for the ceremony that's down a winding path...so cool for the reveal! The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. In fact, the pies they served (especially the blueberry) were some of the best I've ever had. All in all, this is a great place to get married, and I hope I get to come back!

Oh my goodness, Andrea was incredible!! We hired her as a partial planner and she surpassed our…read moreexpectations and then some. We realized around 7 months out that while we had booked some of the major things, we were overwhelmed and in over our heads, and she really saved the day and made it all possible - planning a wedding is a lot y'all!! Especially from out of state, whew! She helped us with finding quality vendors, keeping us on track/organized through her super helpful portal (which had sections for design planning, vendor contacts, budget, seating charts, to-do list, advice, etc), with a number of scheduled video calls and by checking in via email. We used zola for our website but I regret not going with her option to build a website for us because zola had a lot of frustrating limitations (couldn't even add links or bold things where we needed to). She had a helpful assistant through the prep process and an amazing, kind wedding day team who helped assemble my dream design elements. I'm a designer and made mockups of how I wanted things to look and uploaded pictures to the portal design studio, and they followed my vision so well!! And they even made one part look more tasteful than I had planned - loved it! Maybe more importantly, Andrea and her team basically made everything run smoothly, including packing up all the stuff we gave them to set out at the end of the night and dropping it off at my husband's dad's house since our venue was strict and needed everything out ASAP. What a relief to just show up to the wedding day (and leave) knowing all of those little details were being set up and taken care of - it was awesome! On the day-of, Andrea and her team were connected with the vendors with headsets, making everything run smoothly and communicating with the DJ about who was coming down the aisle for the songs to line up. She also helped us and the rest of the staff adjust and pivot after our ceremony went way overtime (we should've known, our rabbi loves the poetic details, which was beautiful in the moment, and my husband & I probably should've planned for more time knowing that lol). She helped us calm down after realizing how behind we were because she stayed so calm and collected, and calmly walked us through deciding what to shift for the rest of our timeline (we packed a lot of rituals in there). She also swooped in to help when I was having trouble with my makeshift dress bustle (she had worked at a bridal shop in the past - so amazingly helpful!) Andrea is so kind, calm, organized, approachable, and just nice to work with. She talked me through a few anxieties when I was overthinking things and in general, she was super patient with our moments of indecision and neurosis lol. I'm going to miss our rapport and check-ins, it was so nice knowing she had our backs throughout this whole process. Wedding planning is an overwhelming process, so having someone there for us like she was was a total game changer. I wish I knew more people in the area to recommend her - if you're on the fence, definitely hire her! She's amazing and you won't regret it!! (Waiting for our official photos but sharing a few of what we have for now)

From the beginning Andrea was professional, organized and full of ideas! She asked us what our must have wedding details were and found a way to make sure that we had them in the wedding. I appreciated all of the vendor recommendations she provided. They fit in perfectly with the style and tone of the wedding. She was there every step of the way and alleviated all of the wedding planning stress that she could. Andrea had a solution for everything that came up through the process. Even down to the end, like not having a cake stand for 2 of the cakes a day before the wedding. She came up with a substitute that was beautiful, matched the decor and no one was the wiser. The day of the wedding she was there with her team and the magic happened!! It was a beautifully arranged room and better than I imagined. The days events went along smoothly. But, it was Andrea and her team working hard behind the scenes to ensure that all we had to do was enjoy ourselves! And, everyone enjoyed themselves. The best decision I made other than my husband was hiring Andrea as my wedding planner.
