If we're doing a review of how cool the interactive games are, I'm going to give Chill Axes 5 stars. If we're doing a review of how I appreciate how our 1-hour didn't begin til post training and directions, I'm going to give Chill Axes 5 stars. If we're doing a review of the cleanlieness of Chill Axes, I'm again.. going to give them 5 stars. HOWEVER - that's about how many 5 stars I can give them. The staff was nasty - and I wish I got the woman's name who was very argumentative about a misread (but functional) coupon used via online booking. I used some form of Women's Wednesday code as a female, for my date night (with a male), and the front desk clerk made it an issue almost, that it was used. Literally told me "I would've rather you have asked me for a code rather than lying." ....??????.... after REPEATEDLY telling her that if there's a big deal with the difference I'd pay. Like girl please, the discount was like $8 - you acted as if I got over on a buy one get one lol. Argue me down IF I "lied" (I signed my waiver saying I was coming for a date night), and the bar that was advertised, was actually functioning. Like please. Half of the building worked as advertised. Anyway, Chill Axes doesn't have to worry about me coming anymore. I appreciated the functionality of the establishment.. the tic-tac-toe-, the zombie and duck axe games, how the darts come in different colors than the traditional black/white... but the staff was purely trash. And as stated before, their bar as advertised online did not work although BYOB was an option.

I give Chill Axes a 3.5. I was looking for a fun place for Father's Day. 5 days in advance, I went online and booked a reservation for 6. The front desk and game staff were very helpful and professional. They gave us a great safety overview. We also were walked through different game options. Due to no food on-site and the price points, I took off stars. The venue does have an account with a local pizza place and you can bring food in, but there should be snacks and treats for guests! Next, I paid for 5 throwers and 1 watcher/spectator. Essentially, it was about $188 for 6 people and 3 of them were under 18, and 1 was an elderly woman in her 80's. They also charged for sodas. So I had to pay an additional $19. Which was like $200 for 60 mins of play ? For an enhanced experience, I would think some things would just be complimentary or a better package could have been offered. If you go, I strongly encourage you to complete your waivers in advance. It took over 30 mins to get the waived situated. Parking is free and ample space. The place is very modern and very clean. The music was decent. Nevertheless, it's a fun experience for a family outing, date night, a team-building event, or just hanging out with friends. It was a great stress reliever.

I wished patrons could purchase food & drinks, but you have to bring or order externally. The folks at the front desk were friendly. There was music, and the staff cleans after each group leaves. I would go again.

We decided to try a new activity and agreed on throwing axes. Chill Axes is centrally located, not far from Bowie, Upper Marlboro and Baltimore. There's plenty of parking and the area seems safe. We made a reservation for 12pm on a Saturday. I appreciated that they had all of their policies and expectations detailed on the website. Plan to arrive early for a safety lesson and demonstration. Matt helped us today and he gave very thorough directions. Overall, we had a great time and plan to visit again in the future.

How much wood could a woodchuck - chuck? Not sure, but I know how much we chucked! It was a whole lot! Ha! Okay, that may not have been such a earth shattering starting line, but it caught your attention! We had such a fun time at Chill Axes! The name alone drew me in...come on, CHILL AXES!! My sis actually planned this outing, so I don't know all the particulars and the planning process, but I do know you can bring your own outside food, beverages (yes, alcoholic ones too), small coolers, and you can even have your food delivered to this location! So glad this company allows all of these extras! Additionally, just know you're gonna have a bunch of fun! The concept is to throw an axe at a wooden board. It's just that simple! They have different boards and games you can play, but the basic gist is to hit the bullseye and/or target. Your group and/or duo are allowed a certain amount of time for axe throwing and if you want to eat, you can allot that into that time as well. It may sound easy, but it takes a bit of practice and a little skill. I got the hang of it after a few tosses. My ticket to success was to imagine a person/people I didn't like and BOOM...I hit the target continuously! You can thank me later for that little golden nugget. They have plenty of hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, the bathrooms are extremely clean and the staff are extremely helpful. Shout out to Max the staff member that assisted us, he was awesome! This was a really nice change of pace for me and something different for us to do. I absolutely encourage anyone who's looking for something fun and different to do, to give it a try.

Had a friends and family outing at chill axes..... and boy did we have a time!!!! The location was a little hidden but plenty of parking and customer service was great. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a fun activity to do. They also allow you to bring your own food and drinks which is a major plus!!!!!

This place was so fun! We were looking for something to do and spontaneously thought to go axe throwing, this place did not disappoint! They were sanitizing between throwing groups, you can bring in your own food and the staff is really nice. It is slightly pricey but we were able to get a deal so that was nice. This would make a fun date night or just something new to try!

Target

This was a very unique experience to say the least. I learned a lot in a short amount of time. I was able to relieve stress! I had a good time!

Target game. There's also tic tac toe and a zombie game.

This was our first time axe throwing and we had a really great time here. Would defiantly come back and do the 2 hours. Booked last minute but were put in the VIP area. I liked how there were different games to choose from and it wasn't just a target you are throwing at. This is a great spot for a date night or girls/guys night out. Management was super friendly and came around to help out if you weren't sticking the axe. It's BYOB and there is a partnership with 424 liquors for 10% off which is a convenient stop on the way!

A poker tournament was going on. We sat at the bar and what I will say is everyone was pleasant and welcoming. We were immediately invited into several conversations happening. I was told many food items on the menu were exceptional; the menu consisted of bar food such as burgers, BLT, steamed shrimp, mozzarella sticks, fries and a few other items I cannot recall. I ordered the steamed shrimp which were extremely bland, could tell they were frozen and overcooked. I have never not enjoyed steamed shrimp but these were the exception they also had a strong bleach smell. My partner ordered the turkey burger and didn't rave about it but also didn't complain about it. Nothing was life changing from what I could see that others were ordering. Seems that this is a place for drinking, camaraderie, and entertainment as there are also pool tables which I believe were free to use. No rush to return but if looking for an inviting place to play pool will return. One thing I did not like is that their are no small tables to sit your drink while playing pool as I was raised that you need to have your eyes on your drink when out in public at all times. Being told to leave my drink at the bar while playing pool did not sit well with me so I didn't drink.

If you're anything like me, you've probably grown a bit weary of the "curated" dining experience,…read morewhere the lighting is perfectly dimmed for Instagram, the chairs are intentionally uncomfortable to keep turnover high, and the food feels like it was assembled on a corporate assembly line. That's why finding a place like **Hideaway** feels less like a dinner reservation and more like a personal victory. First, let's talk about the location, because it really sets the stage for everything else. It isn't sitting in some shiny new strip mall or tucked between a bank and a dry cleaner. True to its name, Hideaway is situated in a spot that feels genuinely "off the map." You have to actually look for it, and there's something incredibly rewarding about that. It's the kind of place you only find if you're "in the know," which immediately gives the whole evening a sense of character and charm before you even walk through the door. It's refreshing to visit a spot that relies on word-of-mouth and quality rather than just having high foot traffic from a busy intersection. Now, onto the reason we're all here: the food. I started with the **wings**, and frankly, I might never be able to order them anywhere else again. You can tell immediately that they aren't just pulling these out of a freezer bag. There is a clear, unmistakable care for food quality here. The skin is rendered to that perfect, glass-like crispness while the meat stays tender and juicy. But the real game-changer? The **blue cheese dipping sauce**. Most places treat blue cheese as an afterthought. At Hideaway, it's a revelation. It's thick, punchy, and filled with actual chunks of high-quality cheese. It provides that sharp, creamy counterpoint to the heat of the wings that makes you want to double-dip (and I definitely did). I also decided to try the **hot dog**, which I know sounds like a "safe" choice, but at Hideaway, nothing is basic. This isn't a ballpark frank; it's a masterclass in nostalgia-meets-craft. The snap on the casing was perfect, and the bun was toasted just enough to hold up to the toppings without becoming a soggy mess. It's rare to find a place that treats a hot dog with the same level of respect as a prime steak, but they do it here. And then, the **ribs**. Oh, the ribs. They were spectacular. They had that beautiful mahogany bark and a deep, smoky flavor that suggested a long, patient stay in the smoker, which is exactly how real BBQ should be. Again, the quality of the meat was front and center. No heavy, syrupy sauces were needed to hide any flaws because there weren't any. It's rare to find a kitchen that is firing on all cylinders across such a diverse menu. Whether it's the humblest hot dog or a complex rack of ribs, the attention to detail is consistent. Hideaway doesn't cut corners, and in a world of "fast-casual" mediocrity, that makes it a five-star destination in my book. If you can find it, eat there. You won't regret it.

Food and service so good you'll forget you're in a mall parking lot!…read more We were out running errands and decided to grab a bite. Unfamiliar with the area, I jumped on yelp and found The Farmhouse with its 4.4 star rating. So there we went. The Waugh Chapel area is a giant shopping center. Wegmans, Old Navy, Verizon, etc. The Farmhouse is in a new building near the man road. Their whole thing is farm to fork, with some herbs and greens grown on site and others sourced locally. The service is great! Fast and friendly. Instead of bread or rolls, they warm you up with some country style homemade cornbread. Freshly baked, cast iron skillet, with butter and syrup. Yum! We had the meatloaf and the chicken and chicken and biscuits. The meatloaf was tasty, with homemade mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh green beans. The chicken and biscuits is kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust. The biscuits are on top so you can decide how much bread you want. The vegetables are nice and fresh, and the chicken is perfect white meat. A++ on both entrees. For dessert we had half-baked, which is an ooey gooey cookie and a brownie in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream. We liked it, but next time I'll probably have just ice cream because the ice cream was absolutely perfect. Where are you? Stevensville? Baltimore? Solomon's? Alexandria? DC? You should make the drive to Waugh Chapel Station and get some fresh, delicious, better- than-home-cooked food.

When we arrived, our table appeared to be ready right at our reservation time, but we still had to wait to be seated. It wasn't a long delay, but it was a bit confusing and felt like a service issue. The ambience is beautiful and well done, and the bathrooms were clean. The food itself was solid across the board, and the chicken and biscuit was actually even better the next day as leftovers. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest drawback. Refills only happened when we asked, and splitting checks for a large group was more difficult than expected. At one point when a correction was needed, a member of our party noticed the server visibly rolling her eyes, which didn't help the experience. Drinks are also served by the can rather than fountain style, which made them feel overpriced without refills. For a place that presents as upscale, the experience shouldn't feel nickel-and-dimed. Overall, nice atmosphere and good food, but the service needs improvement before I'd consider returning.
