So it's not quite a hotel but it's also not quite a bed and breakfast, either. What it is, however, is gorgeous. They are still finishing renovations in some parts, but I'm so glad we stayed here. We stayed in the Chase room, and it was fantastic. Elegantly appointed, with lovely touches, like real books on the shelves. The bed is incredibly comfortable, with crisp sheets and supportive pillows. The bathroom is amazing and I loved the tub and shower. Two luggage racks are appreciated, though another waste bin and more outlets would also be nice. It was quite clean, though a more thorough vacuum was needed. The personalized welcome letter was so thoughtful. The main sitting rooms on the first floor are sumptuous and welcoming. All the staff we interacted with were incredibly kind and friendly. We were not informed of renovations, Valet is available, but there is also a parking garage nearby. A lift is available to an accessible room on the main level. When looking for a bespoke stay in Annapolis, 86 State is a fabulous choice.

The bed was heavenly. Perfect location to walk around Annapolis and sight see. Most notably the hotel manager Maryelle (spelling?) was phenomenal. She met us curbside when we arrived. Despite the freezing weather, the restaurant was still pretty filled and had a great vibe. When we got to our table the waiter checked my coat and gave me a ticket, to get it later. Our table was seated right next to a beautiful fire pit, which gave an amazing warm temperature. The views across the water were breath taking, through the tall glass windows. There were high ceilings and many details throughout the restaurant that were stunning! Started dinner with the Oysters, followed by the Shellfish Linguine with sautéed mushrooms as an entree. I got the Roasted Lamb Chops which came with the tri-color carrots, and parsnip purée. It all tasted great, however there wasn't enough for leftovers. The waiter brought out a tasty piece of red velvet cake that said "Happy Birthday," which was much appreciated. Service was attentive and kind from all of the staff.

We started with the crab dip and that was good! The valentine couple's surf & turf special, shareable ribeye and tomahawk were all sold out! This was very disappointing. The entree - we ordered the prime rib and eye of the ribeye. Both were cooked great. The creamed spinach was flavorful and creamy. The truffle fries? No complaints, crispy and tasty. Now let's talk about the lobster risotto... because what happened there? Risotto is supposed to be creamy, rich, and comforting. This was dry, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp and lobster was dried out. Service was excellent and ambiance is luxury rustic. Overall, some items were good, but that lobster risotto was a major letdown, especially for the price point. I would revisit but will stay away from the lobster risotto.

We found on the grounds of the Naval Academy at the Navy- Marine Corps Memorial Stadium just the place. Cheryl Haendel the sales manager for Martins/ Bo Brooks Catering turned out to be the perfect hostess. The meeting facility was easy to access, incredibly well kept and had very good acoustics. In the course of setting up the meeting space Cheryl was quick to answer all of our questions, followed up within 24 hours and made sure we had everything we needed for a successful training session. The food was particularly good offering fresh selections for vegetarians and non vegetarians alike. EMS has a pretty laid back crew and does not need a lot of amenities, as a speciality retail company however we are all over outstanding customer service and want to recognize other businesses that offer outstanding service. Martins/ Bo Brooks is one to mention. If you need a meeting space with top notch service and environment that does not have the sky high prices of 4 star hotels consider this location. First, let my tell you that you DO NOT have to be Navy to rent this facility near the stadium. We rented it for a party, three nights in a row and they far exceeded my expectations. I worked with Cheryl Haendel, and knew right away I could trust her to make sure everything would be perfect. She was professional, informed and sweet as can be. I wish I had known non Navy could rent it back when I got married. I don't normally make recommendations, but I would highly recommend you look at this venue.

The staff member working when we visited (his name was Howard) was really friendly and helpful. He explained about the history of the building and recommended a path through the exhibits to get the most of out of our visit. We learned about a lot about the Chesapeake - its history, the its health and recovery... We learned a lot about oysters, too. There's a fun interactive game you can play where you balance oyster harvesting and the health of the Bay that entertained us (two adults nearing 40) for a while! Then there's a small gallery with photographs of the Bay and some outdoor exhibits, too. They offer sails on a certain days as well, so check out the schedule online before you visit if that's something you're interested in. It might be small, but it's a great little museum. Definitely worth a visit on a visit or trip to Annapolis.
