Wow! What an amazing place!! I was here recently for a crab feast with an organization and this is a wonderful place to come for an outing or an event. From the outstanding amount of parking to the playground and activities for kids, to the various pavilions to be used for food and drink, the inside facilities were very nice and spacious, clean restrooms and the friendly and incredible staff made this quite a nice event. Also the fact that it was handicapped accessible with the limited steps plus the ramp into the building made it easy for my guests to attend without having to worry about how they would get up and around. If you're looking for an event location with beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay, right on the water with an outside area and inside areas, look at this place first. I can't recommend it enough and I look forward to coming back in the future. read more

I came here with my gf for a country BBQ luncheon. The setup was nice. We prepaid for our table and the lunch. The menu consisted of a hotdog. With or without chili. I chose chili, baked beans, pasta salad. Sweet pea salad which was actually good. Coleslaw and pulled BBQ chicken with a roll. They had an assortment of desserts available which included fruits and other goodies. We had DJ Dr. Jay which kept us busy on the dance floor. The inside is beautiful as well as the outside surroundings. Beautiful water views. Perfect for a wedding or special event. I once attended a wine festival that was in October. They hold it yearly. Definitely worth checking out. You will be truly amazed with the views. read more

The food was good & Nice views n beautiful staff members.. the bartender was holding back the good bar items

What a lovely venue. Super spacious. Located along the water. If you are ever invited .... You should go!

STAY AWAY! the owner is rude, disrespectful and clearly doesn't respect his business and prospective guests, apparently. I was considering having my daughter's wedding here but after being kicked off the property for simply taking photos I would never pay to have an event here with such a small minded and incompetent owner. what happened to the guest experience and hospitality?! can't find either at this venue! you'd be better off being respected by your local mcdonalds before you'd be respected by this staff. read more

We just had a wedding there over the weekend and I must say Ashley and John took care of us! We were really pleased with everything! They took my vision and brought it to life! All my guest enjoyed their food, service, and beautiful scenery! The staff was polite and gracious to all our guest! We were truly blessed! Can't thank Ashley enough for being so patient with us and keeping things in check and organized! They kept my stress level to a minimum. We def appreciated it! Debbie our day of coordinator kept things on time and was very wonderful to our family and friends. She helped wrangle in our toddler who was cranky and tired. Thank you so much Debbie!! John, the owner, came out to us at the end of the night to make sure everything went well which meant a lot because he did not have to do that! Personable and very professional business man. Thank you!! I would def recommend this place ten thousand times as long as Ashley and John are around :) read more

We had our reception here in 2005 and had not been back until last night. We definitely were not disappointed with this venue then or last night. The grounds, service and food is beyond exceptional! To see a place so special to us continue to grow and thrive, working to provide a wonderful atmosphere and service for any groups looking to celebrate, is rare. We would recommend this place to anyone time and time again. 10+ stars all the way around! read more

We just had the most amazing wedding for our daughter at Kurtz's Beach!!! The venue, the service, the food (a complete vegan spread), and the people were just AWESOME!!! Kurtz's Beach is run so professionally, and yet, with such a personal touch. Big shout out to Ashley, Deb and Lyle...you guys are such nice people and such professionals!! THANK YOU for making our girl's day so special. read more

This is the second year that my bestie and I have come to this event and the second year that we LOVED IT! Wine on the water 2017 was great! Not too crowded - really great wine selections and vendors and really chill folk. The best thing about it was definitely the staff! Friendly as soon as you get there helping you to get a quick lay of the land and guiding you directly to the good stuff - WINE SAMPLES! We had Jenos cheese steak fries.. SHAMELESS PLUG!! For the SECOND YEAR! They are amazing!!!! Almost don't wanna send this review cause we want it all to ourselves next year too!!! read more

Beautiful venue. I just attended a wedding here for a couple of friends and it was a lovely, medium sized venue with a really professional and put together staff. Ample parking is right across the street from the venue, so you don't have to worry about finding a place to park. The venue has two outside pavilions and one completely insulated pavilion. Everything is right up next to the water providing a great backdrop for wedding photos. The whole place is fairly neutral on colors, so you can easily decorate however you'd like. And it looked like they could probably accommodate 200+ people for larger events. The acoustics were pretty good as well, as there was a live band and they sounded great. If I were going to have an event out in Pasadena MD, I would definitely look into Kurtz's Beach Ltd. read more

Beautiful place, but the food is terrible. Roasted chicken was sliced lunchmeat with jarred gravy and roast beef was sliced lunch meat with jarred gravy. Parsley was canned and they ran out and substituted with instant mashed. Crab casserole tasted old and was watery and not eatable. There featured mini pastries were frozen out of a box that you can get from a grocery store. Beware!!!!!!!! They get you on the food. Terrible. When we had our wedding were were so disappointed. Owner would not return any money. Insist on pictures of the food and a tasting of the food prior to the wedding. read more

Attended a wedding a little while ago, so I can only speculate about what goes on while planning and having a wedding there. It's a beautiful location, and the Bay Room is nice and fairly neutral as stated earlier. However, the chairs looked really dated and awful, which detracted from the way the room looked/the nice linens and table decorations. Also, I'm almost positive that the "popcorn chicken" on the passed hors d'oeuvres was actually diced Tyson's chicken. I am positive, however, that the potatoes were fake. A shame, because the chicken and sirloin were actually very tasty. The veggies were way overdone. People were still enjoying themselves, and there were plenty of nice desserts to go around, but having recently planned my own wedding: you pay a lot for your food. It should at least be on par with a halfway decent restaurant for what they charge you. read more

Kurtz's Beach is such a gorgeous venue and Ashley was so patient and helpful when we were researching wedding venues. The view on the water is stunning. There's lots of free parking. It's a bit off the beaten path, but it's worth it. read more

Unbelievable. We paid for 150 people but they only make enough food for the people who show up. So they don't discount you for the food they didn't use. Instead you pay for food you don't get. We paid for it, so it should've been our choice what to do with it. We could've driven around and fed plenty of homeless people. Not that they would've eaten it because the food was so awful. Salty. Cold. Inedible. Rude workers. Never having another event here. Big disappointment, even bigger waste of money. read more

Attended a wedding at this property and it was very well executed. The staff was all extremely helpful and accommodating. Great food, updated reception space and the views out to the bay area were breathtaking. I highly recommend Kurtz's Beach! read more

Having attended both a wedding, and after a great experience, attended Wine on the Water, this venue is so much fun with the attention to details and friendly staff hard to match! The wedding was well organized with about 250 in attendance, the food was delicious and served expeditiously even having that many guests. The view is breath taking with the patio perfect for celebrating! Recent renovations have modernized the space, you'd never know that the business has been around for something like 80 years?! The bride and groom at this wedding also utilized the grooms cottage and bride's cottage to get ready and prepare prior to the wedding at the beach. They had nothing but great things to say about that experience as well. The Wine on the Water event that was recently attended was so well organized and felt like a day out at an actual winery where you could taste, purchase the bottle, then enjoy with friends in the open air by that awesome view right on the water. The event had plenty of food trucks and artisan vendors to keep us entertained. Highly recommend to anyone that wants to get out of the city but doesn't want to drive too far. read more

I am very disappointed with this venue, especially after reading such positive reviews on Wedding Wire and The Knot. First of all, getting in contact with John Mason (the manager?) was a hassle. It would take him several days to respond to emails and when he did, they were very curt. I ended up calling him to schedule an appointment and he said he was sorry he hadn't responded his emails, that he had been too busy look at his email. When we were finally able to schedule a time and date to tour the venue, we were quickly shown around and he told us to let him know if we were interested. John mentioned that they were having a general group tasting on Nov. 1st if we were interested in trying the food their catering service provides. We let him know we were available and made the hour drive over to Kurtz's Beach. My fiance and I brought our mothers along so they could get a feel for the venue and give us their opinions. We arrived a few minutes early, they were still setting up, so my fiance and I showed our mothers around the outside of the venue. After a few minutes we went inside and asked someone setting up if we were on time for the tasting (since no one had come out to greet us, I wanted to make sure it hadn't been cancelled). The young man looked confused and did not seem to have any knowledge of a wedding tasting. After some time, John came out and gave us some background information about the venue. He offered for us to go inside to have some food and beverages. We walked into the venue and saw a buffet style table across from the bar. There were a few menus and a swatch album on the bar counter. The menus provided options of hors d'oeuvres, salads and entrees. Past the bar area, in the ballroom, there were about a dozen tables set up reception style. My fiance said, "Let's go save a table and bring our food over". John overheard and said that those tables weren't for us, that the tables for a charity event the venue was hosting in about an hour and a half. He said we could get our food and stand by the bar to eat. We were very surprised at his response but we walked over to get our food. Some other families had already gotten their food as we walked over. There were two buffet trays open with about four or five close trays lined up next to them. It seemed as though there was an array of food to choose from. We got our plates and went to get our food and the server asked if we wanted baked ziti, crab pasta or both. He proceeded with serving us an ice cream scoop size of what we asked for. That was all we were offered! They had not prepared any other foods for us to try! When John came over to ask how we like our baked ziti and crab pasta, we asked if we were to chose the venue, would we be able to taste other food items that were on the menu? He promptly replied that they used to host elaborate tasting and that they were a huge waste of food and that they only offered these events now. Although I completely understand not wanting to waste food, there are many different ways one could go about this. When looking for a venue, an important aspect (in my opinion) is to know that the food your guests are eating and you are spending hundreds on, tastes good! John mentioned several times that they have been hosting weddings for over 80 years and that they have been perfecting this over time. I must say I have never experience anything like this at any other venue. I noticed Kurtz's hosts other events as well, maybe they have lost sight in their wedding planning. We will definitely not have our wedding at Kurtz's beach. read more

Had my wedding here last year. Everybody was very impressed with the venue, the food, and the staff. Very clean and professional. We had a flawless event due to Kurtz's very attentive and experienced staff. The remodeled dance floor area and fireplace are fantastic. Would recommend this place to anybody who has dreamed of a wedding on the water! read more

Kurtz hosted a large birthday party for me this past weekend with about 100 guests. I cannot overstate how pleased I was with the venue, staff and food. We took the older room in the back with the huge deck and view of the water. My guests and I could not have been happier as the weather was a beautiful as the view. Nothing was a problem for the staff and venue took care of absolutely everything at a very fair cost. They were a dream to work with. After my initial inspection and prior to the day of the event, everything was handled promptly by email. The day of the event, they even posted staff to show my guests how to get to the back of the property. The food was good and we were allowed to bring our own DJ. There is a larger more modern room in the front, but it does not have the hundred million dollar view. However, for us, it was worth taking the spot in the back because nothing trumped the view. The only downside to this room is that it's in the back, and the bathrooms need some love. However, if you have a daytime event, this is the room to choose. Neither you or your guests will be disappointed. Much love to John, Ashley and all the staff with a big thank you from the Taylors. read more

I had my wedding at Kurtz's Beach in May 2015 and I couldn't have asked for anything more. The venue is AMAZING! Absolutely beautiful, right on the water. John Mason, Donna our coordinator, and the remaining staff at Kurtz's are wonderful! We really wanted to keep our wedding light, and intimate. I really was struck by how inviting the staff at Kurtz's is. They invite you and your guests in to their venue as if they are welcoming you to their home. As the bride, I could sit at ease because they took such attention to detail and helped me along the way with every step. So, what more could you ask for - a one-stop place - with a beautiful venue for a ceremony & reception. You get a large selection of linens to pick from - and don't worry about the catering, the food is AMAZING!!! in fact, I want to have all my friends get married at Kurtz's so I can have more chances to eat their delicious food! Definitely recommend!! read more

I was the maid of honor for my friend's wedding last weekend. It was by far the worst wedding I have EVER attended!! Let's start off with the groom and his groomsmen being kicked off the grounds prior to the ceremony (they wanted to take some pictures) - when the owner told them to leave the confused groom said that the photographer told him to go there - the owner responded with "she doesn't own this...I do" - how rude can someone possibly be?? They spent a lot of money there and the owner wouldn't even allow them to take pictures there?! We rented the "bridal suite" which was actually a somewhat modern very small (kitchen, dressing area and one bathroom) bottom floor of the owner's guesthouse. The bridal attendant who at first was very kind became overbearing as the hours went on, she was entirely too comfortable with us - sitting down (taking up the limited seats that were available) while we were getting our hair and makeup done. She was constantly talking and adding her two cents in, stressing the bride out, it came to the point where I shut the door just so we did not have to hear her speak anymore and the bride could have a few moments of quite. The suite was not equipped with common items that you would expect, (lint roller, iron, ironing board, blow dryer etc). The staff was rude and the service was horrible! When we first arrived a younger blonde woman "greeted us" and was extremely rude and even the reverend commented to me on how mean she was. We were basically pushed down the aisle with no directions what-so-ever. After the ceremony it was time for the "cocktail hour" - what a joke! The presentation was as horrible as the selection (you were to use a styrofoam plate - REAL classy!). All of the drinks were served in plastic cups (it felt like a keg party). The staff was dressed horribly - everyone had on different white shirts that were transparent - you could see undergarments and all other fun things that a proper shirt would have covered. Some were wearing sneakers and capris and even though they weren't serving food they were wearing plastic gloves - overall the staff dressed as unprofessional as they acted. The food was horrible, it appeared and tasted like cafeteria food - the only thing that tasted good was the roll and cake (cake was not provided by Kurtz) and there wasn't even water glasses on the table, I had to ask them to leave a pitcher so we could have some water (of course served in plastic cups). Towards the end of the night this same blonde woman came over to me saying that I had to remove the presents from the room, there was an hour left of the wedding - she said it didn't matter. I had to leave the reception, go and get the car (in the cold and rain) and drive it around. By that time, there was only half an hour left and I asked if I could just leave the car nearby as we were the only reception there at that time - she said no. The bathrooms in the reception room were extremely small and not in any way handicap accessible - the doors did not have locks on them and there were only 2 stalls. They were completely out dated and you could tell that there was no attendant checking on the bathroom because the garbage was overflowing with paper towels that ended up on the floor. While not everyone wants or can afford a super expensive wedding, you still expect your guest to be treated with respect and have great service regardless of a wedding budget. I hope that this review is helpful to a prospective couple - you've been warned!! read more

Wow...I would have loved to experience Kurtz Beach for my one day Yoga retreat but they took way too long to respond. It took about a month for them to email me back and the response was short and abrupt. John (the owner, i guess) said he did not have the dates I requested and didn't offer to find out if another time would be available for me. It is ridiculous that you can't reach a live person when you call the number provided on their website and even more ridiculous that after all the reviews I have read from years ago that they are difficult to reach and not responsive, that they are still operating their business that way!!! read more

I have contacted this business more than once to try and book my wedding. I have attended a wedding there that was absolutely beautiful. I filled out the online contact form requesting information, and received no response back. So 2 days later I called. The man who answered the phone acted quite annoyed that I was asking about pricing for a wedding exactly a year away. He then told me if I emailed them thru the direct email, he would send me the information. I immediately emailed them. 2 days later, he replied with "Thank you for your interest, we will forward you our pricing." About 4 hours later, he emailed me not the pricing information, but his w-9 Tax Form. I replied that this was indeed not the pricing information. He then sent me the pricing information, so I replied with the question of when was I able to come in and see/talk about the venue. Two days later, no response. I then called on a Saturday to see if I could come into see it the next day, Sunday. They took my phone number and said they were busy but would try and fit me in and call me back for a viewing on Sunday. It is now Wednesday and I still have not heard back from this business. It seems to me that having them host my wedding would be more of a headache than necessary. I will not be using them. read more
