We ended up with a highway view room, but we didn't mind because there were enough common spaces to see the water. We had a delicious lunch at Fisherman's Crab Deck next door. My dad then picked us up at the docks at this Hyatt on his boat which was so easy an amazing. The room itself was just what we needed. It even had a pull out couch. The only complaint was that the bathroom didn't have a fan and steamed up really quickly and the AC was a bit weaker than expected. The water pressure was really strong and nice. It was enough space for four people for a night. Parking was easy to find. And the morning breakfast had a lot of great options. I especially loved that they had oak milk. I would stay at this Hyatt Place again and recommend it!

We arrived at 1 to drop off our bags and had to call to be let in. The on site person wasn't on site and we waited about ten mins then decided to leave our bags in the lobby. 2: the on site person was not there at 3:00. We had to wait until about 3:10 then the on site person didn't have their computer to check us in. The on site person didn't know our code for the front door and it took us asking about 4 times to finally get a code to the front door. 3: the house is cold. There are space heaters everywhere in the house, which helps, but I am not paying $400 a night to stay in a cold house. I will not be staying here again.

I've stayed at the Governor Calvert House four times in the last two years. The location can't be…read morebeat for proximity to downtown Annapolis and the Naval Academy. The historic aspects of the Inn are outstanding. The cleanliness is on point. Until my last visit, I would have sworn I'd stay there every opportunity I had. The only consistent complaint I have in all four visits was the AC either stopped working completely (requiring multiple engineer visits but the plus was complimentary wine) or was near broken and not cooling predictably. Other than that, this place was like my dream home away from home. However, there has been a significant drop in service by the front desk and reservation staff starting in fall of 2025 which has accelerated in spring of 2026. Over a four night stay in May, three mornings there was either no sugar, cream or coffee available during reasonable coffee times (7:30am) and I had to go to the desk to request restock. Also, someone reported to the front desk that a large roach was in the men's lobby restroom sink...the women at the front desk (also day shift) laughed and said they weren't dealing with it. These same employees made fun of some visitors who accidentally came to the wrong business by mimicking them after they left. I've received a few emails promoting an incentive for a return visit, but it has "?errors" all over it even when I open in different browsers. When I call about what it entails, I am told they don't know. And that's if I can get them to answer the phone. I've tried emailing and have received no reply after more than a week. Regretfully, I've booked another Inn for my next visit...I truly enjoyed most of my stays at the Governor Calvert House, but I don't like the direction its service has headed and it's too much money to spend for poor service. THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO HOUSEKEEPING OR THE NIGHT SHIFT EMPLOYEES-they continued to be outstanding.

However, the windowsills and shades are caked in dust. A bit disappointing especially since we stayed in the pure wellness room which is supposed to be allergen friendly and with an air purification system. The furniture with outlets basically all do not work, making it harder to find places to charge anything. The window by the bathroom is broken and was taped back together with painters tape. The bathroom wallpaper was coming off the walls and the shower curtain was falling out of the wall. We tried to twist it back up in place but the wallpaper and wall where it is screwed in appears pulled away from the wall and needs more serious repair. Lastly, $50 per day for valet when there are basically no other parking options is pretty steep and they don't openly share the cost upon check in... just beware of the cost in case you want to make alternate arrangements! If they took a little more care to clean less trafficked areas and ensure things are repaired and in working condition prior to guests staying in the room, this would be a really awesome place to stay.

Ann and Tom were fantastic hosts during our stay. I really can't say enough on how welcome they made us feel. To echo another review; the breakfast was absolutely amazing. From the moment I arrived, the manor itself felt like a deep exhale. It's beautiful, peaceful, and so thoughtfully kept -- the kind of place where you can actually rest. The service was exceptional. Attentive without ever being hovering. Every staff member was warm, present, and made me feel genuinely cared for the entire time. You can tell they love what they do. The breakfasts every morning were amazing -- fresh, delicious, and made with care. And I really looked forward to the evening hors d'oeuvres with wine each day. It was such a lovely ritual to wind down, enjoy a glass, and just be. I had a facial that was incredible. Truly one of the best I've ever had -- my skin is still glowing. I also had a massage that was alright. It was relaxing and professional, just didn't wow me the way the facial did, but I still left feeling relaxed. The unexpected gift were the people (guests). What I didn't expect was the community. The other guests (Haili, Drake, Karen, Gary, Olivia, Miguel and his wife/girlfriend and Jordan and her mom) were absolutely wonderful. I came for quiet rest, and a reset but meeting and connecting with such kind, interesting people was so welcome. We shared meals, wine, recommendations, stories, "adventure" and laughter. We stayed in The Law Library. The view from the room was fun--we could look out our window and see people walking around the town. You can't beat the location--you can walk everywhere. The architecture was so cool. The house had lots of acute and obtuse angles to fit on the lot between the city streets. The living room was so cozy. I wish my own living room could be so welcoming. We especially loved getting to know Maggie the dog, sweetie extraordinaire. The couple that runs the property are nice and down to earth. They have coffee out in the morning and the woman cooks a full gourmet Breakfast where you get a chance to meet the other travelers! You also have access to Tea/cookies and snacks throughout your stay. It really felt like home while we were there. Parking garages are nearby and they can hook you up with a half off discount code. We had a terrible experience here! We took two rooms - the Presidential Suite, which was fine and…read morethe Garden Suite. The Garden Suite, which is really a basement room, should not be held out or charged for as a luxury hotel room at a price analogous to the upstairs rooms! They advertised it as having two separate bedrooms ( with 1 queen bedded bedroom and one twin bedded bedroom) and as being a perfect retreat for a family or group. We took it for my two adult children, one of whom had a boyfriend (so three people). Unfortunately, the bedrooms are NOT air conditioned, and one of the bedrooms had no windows at all! The only way to be somewhat comfortable was to leave the bedroom doors open to allow the air from the living room to circulate. Clearly not ideal for a group!!!! We had to take a separate hotel room at the Westin for my daughter and her boyfriend, and my son made do in the one bedroom that had the windows. This was stressful, inconvenient and expensive. WE asked the manager Debo if there was other rooms and she said no. After we had booked the room at the Westin, the manager suddenly offered us a room at a hotel owned by the same owners across the street!!!!! The website does say that the Garden Suite is located on the hotels semi-subterranean level, but given that the charge was over $800 a night for the room (charges were $1935.72 for 2 nights), and the hotel advertises itself as a luxury boutique hotel, I thought it was going to be very nice. When we complained to the owner, Clinton R., he ignored our legitimate grievances of no light (in one room) and no air conditioning in both rooms and claimed that I was complaining about the design. We made the best and had one person sleep in the room each night (rather than the 3 that we planned) and Clinton claimed that since we used the room, we weren't entitled to a refund (even though we had to take a separate additional hotel room!!!!). He was nasty and condescending and truly unfit to be in the business of hospitality. I'd never stay here again and suggest that no-one take the Garden Suite at all! Not even for one person. The ceilings are low, the noises are typical of a basement (toilet flushing noises of the whole hotel) and all in all it's very unpleasant. Stay somewhere else! You can do much better for the money!!!!! Wish I would have read Mark E.'s review before booking this hotel!!!!
