From initial touring of the property, to the days leading up to our reservations and the personal touches such as text reminders about our upcoming stay...I would say the entire experience was well worth every penny! We thoroughly enjoyed the Watermans Suite and all the amenities provided both in the room and throughout the Inn! We look forward to many more stays!

This place is truly unique! My husband and I are always arguing about whether to stay at a bed-and-breakfast or a five-star hotel. I love the quaintness that comes with a bed-and-breakfast, but my husband doesn't like the amenities that you give up when doing so. This place is truly the best of both worlds! It has the cleanliness of a five-star hotel, and the home feel and location of a bed n breakfast. From the warm greeting and very attentive staff, to thinking of what you need before you know you need it. (Like the umbrella hanging behind the door) The extraordinary complimentary breakfast is a great way to start your day. It's literally located next door to the Naval Academy entrance and within walking distance of more wonderful restaurants than we could sample in one visit. It's definitely the best place to stay in Annapolis that we have found and for sure we will be staying here again! Give it a try, you'll be happy you did.

    King Suite

My Fiancé and stayed at the Gibson Lodging Inn last month. Russ and Meredith were both very welcoming and friendly The bed and breakfast was well kept and had a beautiful vintage homey feel. Complimentary beverages and snacks are available in one of the dining areas 24/7 They offer free breakfast in the morning (waffles, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, oatmeal, danishes, bagels/muffins, coffee, hard boiled eggs) We stayed in the King suite, which had an extra sitting room in the suite with a tv and a sofa. It was really nice being in walking distance to all the local spots and the private off street parking was very convenient. My only complaint would be the room was hot and a bit humid at night. I don't think the air ever came on both nights we were there. We would definitely stay there again, just maybe in a cooler season. All in all it was a positive relaxing experience for us both.

An absolutely amazing experience! It's located right next to the Naval Academy and a minute walk from downtown Annapolis- it couldn't be in a more perfect location! The entire inn was pristine, beautiful, and comfortable. Each room is incredibly spacious, clean and organized, and so well decorated. The beds are so comfortable! The breakfast in the morning was delicious, and included fresh coffee, fruit, and bagels from the local bagel bakery. The staff is also incredibly helpful and attentive! I would give Gibson's 10 stars if I could. It was such an amazing experience!

On another note, they had our car under the wrong name so anytime we texted they would say we didn't and the car was never available. First world problems I know but when you're traveling with a 19 month old you have a ticking time bomb and every second counts. We didn't figure this out until the day we left when they told us yet again we didnt text and then confirmed the name after we showed them the text for the 20th time. Secondly we were supposed to have a suite....well that didn't happen. Again, first world issues but when the baby has to be in bed by 8 that means everyone does bc it needs to be dark, no tv and no noise. Would've been great to have the room with doors to separate so we could've let her sleep while we enjoyed time with our older son for a little longer instead of making him go to bed as well. But I guess we were well rested. Third I don't understand why more expensive hotels limit heat and air. You go to a cheap hotel and you can make your room 50 degrees if you want to. We just wanted it below 76 and it wasn't happening. The windows do open a tiny bit but we mostly slept on top of the covers with the windows open and were still sweating.

While we appreciated being able to check in approximately 45 minutes early at 3:15 PM, the 10-minute walk from the parking lot after traveling was not ideal. Once inside, we were warmly welcomed by the front desk staff, who have truly been a bright spot during our experience thus far. They were friendly and professional, and we greatly appreciated their kindness. Unfortunately, after requesting additional towels both through the front desk messaging system and the Marriott app, we still had not received them as of 5:56 PM. In addition, while the bed is comfortable, there were visible pieces of dirt on the rug and what appeared to be paper towel or tissue residue in the shower area upon arrival. At this point, we are quite tired and hesitant to continue requesting assistance, as the staff already seem overwhelmed. We are hopeful tomorrow will provide a better experience and that these concerns can be addressed.

We completed the Pre-Check in on the Hilton App (Gold Member) it allows us to select rooms and run your credit card thru. Then sends a digital key.. we hand selected 2 rooms. What went wrong: We arrived and the front desk clerk seemed bothered that we approached him. Told him I completed the digital check in and wanted a physical key for the second room (my father's 80, and wanted a physical key) he asked me for ID.. then asked for the credit card.. no problem. Then he asked me to swipe my credit card, which I informed him. I've already done the check in, just needed a key. He said I have to swipe the card.. I obliged.. he does the same for the second room. This whole time im challenging him bc this doesn't sound right. During this time, I notice 4 charges for the room come thru on my banks digital app.. weird but he insisted nothing to worry about they will drop off.. As a gold member you usually get a credit for the gift shop or credit towards breakfast.. nothing was said or no sort of welcome to the hotel.. just awful customer service Now the fun part, I get to my room. And I pull up my Hilton app.. I notice a TOTAL OF 4 rooms checked in... when I only booked two.. I call the front desk.. this doesn't seem right.. I also notice 4x the amount of money for room charged to my card.. over 1300 taken out of my account.. didn't seem right I go downstairs, composed but frustrated.. he explains that HE MADE A MISTAKE and will fix it.. keep in mind the 2 rooms I never got.. then he asked if I knew another guest with my same last name. Which I said I do not.. This made me worried and stressed during my stay due to him checking in extra rooms under my name.. Again, someone who travels for work and stays at hotels all over.. this was one of the worst customer experiences..from the unwelcome check in, to the over charges to asking me if I knew someone else staying there.. nobody ever called to apologize or said sorry. The only thing the front desk agent did was have the charges reversed quickly.. If you are staying in Annapolis spend a few more dollars and go elsewhere..

The Historic Inns of Annapolis is three separate locations: the Maryland Inn, Governor Calvert House, and the Robert Johnson House. I stayed at the Governor Calvert House. My room was a double queen, quite large and very nice. The location is great from a walkability perspective - whether you're in Annapolis for work or tourism, the Governor Calvert House is close to many attractions: the State House, Main Street, City Dock, historic homes, etc. It's also close to many restaurants and bars. They offer valet parking, but there are also several parking garages in the area (that can get crowded during legislative session). I opted to drop off my bags and check in and then moved my car to the Hillman Garage, which worked fine. The best thing about my stay? The staff. I forgot toothpaste (insert facepalm emoji here), so I called the front desk and they brought a complimentary toothbrush and mini toothpaste to my door, which was incredibly nice. Each of the properties within the Historic Inns of Annapolis are a little different, but I enjoyed my stay at the Governor Calvert House, and I'd certainly be willing to stay there again - especially considering how affordable it is (I only paid $150 for my mid-week, one-night stay in January!).

The lobby rooms, while distinguished and unique, are actually quite small. However , the room with the glass bottom was extraordinary showing the original floor. The reservation process was awkward and non-informative and required three calls to get it right. The personnel were certainly polite, but they weren't knowledgeable about which of the hotels had an elevator, and which were more easily accessible for someone with a disability. In fact, one picture shows steps in front, but nobody seemed to know that you could walk around the steps to get into the hotel and that there was an elevator. The front desk was very polite and friendly. However, we reported a few things which weren't attended in a timely manner. The toilet was stopped up and we asked somebody to fix it before we returned but upon our return after an hour and a half it wasn't attended to. It took two attempts to get the TV to work with the remote. The technical employee was very nice, but it took two times to get it right. We were told the parking would be $29 but it turned out to be $50. That said the valets were very quick and accommodating. There is an app that manages the parking and they recommend a seven dollar tip. You decide. During the checkout process, we asked for a receipt, but the receipt did not include the total charge for the hotel at all. Also, the online receipt was very difficult to follow and needs improvement. The best feature by far is the extraordinary location on a red brick circle adjacent to the capital building. It is a beautiful location, a block away from downtown and all these great shops and restaurants. I thought that the rooms were extraordinarily clean. The carpet in the room was beautiful, and the furniture was distinguished. However, overall, the lighting was dark . It would've been nice if the room had a small comfortable armchair rather than just a bare desk chair. We did appreciate that the bathrooms had chair rails. The step-in shower was appreciated for someone with a disability. Overall, we appreciated some of the positive things about this hotel - especially the location. We felt the staff was eager to please but stretched too thin. Worth a visit perhaps, but we won't be returning.

Sometimes the little things are the big things! And while I love the Marriott brand it's employees like you Leslie that go above and beyond that keep me loyal to the brand. Keep up the good work! My room was 434 and had a nice modern mirror with back lighting which was perfect for applying makeup. There was plenty of natural light and artificial light options. The shower was clean but the water pressure was just a tad lower than I would have liked. They do provide the ability to change the pressure on the shower head so that helped with rinsing out the shampoo and conditioner. This was probably one of the cleanest bed spreads from a hotel. The place was co-designed by West Elm and is clean and has all the amenities you need. There was free breakfast I didn't take advantage of as it ended too early! They also accommodated a request for a later checkout and had an electric charging station available. Super convenient and reasonably priced and employees like Leslie!

The juice (OJ, cranberry grape, apple juice) are in individual containers in the fridge with the yogurt under the counter near the bagels. Hot coffee & hot water for tea is nearby but away from the breakfast items which helps with the flow of traffic. Front desk was pleasant & efficient. They have an indoor pool/ whirlpool which we didn't use. I like Springhill Suites because they're always spacious, clean and contain a sofa bed and separate tv area as well as a microwave & mini fridge. I think this particular one was renovated. The sink area is outside the bathroom, so if someone needs to brush their teeth or primp they can while someone is showering or using the commode. Not a huge deal, but I prefer that the toilet not be so close to the shower. It was 5 inches or so from the shower door, it was close. You can't physically enter the shower from that end obviously, nor are you supposed to, if you wanted to due to the toilet obstructing the way. No sink inside the bathroom. The closest is walk-in & huge. I almost feel like they should have utilized the closet space or some of it to put in a separate toilet from the shower. However, I get it. It depends on where the plumbing is located. At the foot of the bed, the pathway to the bed closest to the window is narrow. The lighting is great! They have recess lighting & reading lights at the head of the bed . Plenty of electrical outlets and a desk, chair and floor lamp and desk lamp. AC /heat works wonderfully. I like the room cold and unfortunately tend to freeze out my friends/family. It actually got too cold for me that I turned up the temperature and my friend asked if the heat was on. I agree with prior guests regarding paid parking. I knocked off a star because charging for parking is obnoxious & unnecessary where the hotel is located. There are plenty of spaces. As of current (8/2024) it costs $9.50 for 24 hr parking, in & out privileges this includes the service fee. There is no gate entrance to the lot. You pay for parking separately via scanning the QR code. They recently started to charge for parking. There are other Marriott hotels to choose from, but this one has the lowest charge for parking. It's a good location. But it's near busy roads that aren't conducive to walking to places. It is fairly close to a hospital if needed, or if you need to be close to someone in that particular hospital.

My company booked it so I had no choice. Initial impression is a cool historic place. Yes, you check in at the other location and walk a few blocks, but that's part of the historic charm. You walk in and it's all cool antique furniture. The musky smell adds to the historic charm. I noticed the closed off front desk area and thought "that's odd". I went to my room (1402) and noticed first off that the door was warped. I had to use my body to bump it open once the key was accepted. Once inside it was small but nice. The ac unit was a little loud but expected in such an old place. The closet was huge, but something told me to keep the door closed (it gave a spooky feeling). One of the activities that my company booked was a haunted tour that we did the second evening there. First red flag is that it starts in front of the Maryland inn. On the tour they explain why the front desk is t staffed...the hotel is haunted and they can't get anyone to work there at night. I rolled my eyes, yeah right. Then they told a story about a bride who died there in the 1700s who haunts the hotel. She stayed in room 1405 (the same room my boss was staying in). Turns out that my boss heard the famous sounds of her pacing in the room, her high heels clicking on the wooden floors (the floors are now carpeted). On the 3rd night I was texting my boss around 1am because I started hearing noises. He heard them too. The noises got louder and louder until it was the sound of someone pounding on my door. That got harder and harder u til I could see the bottom of the door come in about 3 inches every time it got hit.when it stopped I looked outside the door and saw a giant man (about 6'6", 300+ lbs). I asked if he heard that noise, he just looked at me and the started coming at me. I yelled "dude, wrong room" and slammed the door. A mi Ute later my boss was at my door and said he heard this guy fall down the stairs. My boss and I the. Grabbed out luggage (uber was taking us to the airport at 4am anyway) and walked to the other building to report the incident. In the end, I got a call from the hotel manager saying that the guy (a drunk guest apparently) wanted to pay for my last night in the room. I have more questions than answers, but I can say that I'll never be returning. Look up the ghost stories, apparently they are well documented and are consistent with what I experienced (I'm not including all details here).
