    Fire pit

We loved everything about this place! We took a quick one night trip to Saint Michaels and did not book ahead of time. I had looked the place up online, but when I saw the sign out front and walked inside I wasn't sure if it was an actual hotel. You walk in to a small gift/coffee shop, and just passed that is the Ruse restaurant. We were shocked with how affordable the place was and we're able to get a room in the main building (there are multiple buildings that are part of the property, some of which are on the opposite side of the road) After check-in the hotel sent out a few text messages. One informed us of a fire pit that would be lit with free s'mores. Next to the fire pit in the back was cornhole boards, a couple other games and plenty of seating. There were bicycles available for use and a free breakfast in the morning (pastries, jams, yogurt and quiche) The room itself was gorgeous!!! If I had to pick one thing to complain about it would be the hall noise. You could hear every time someone walked by the room, but the rooms are so spread out that really didn't bother us at all. We have already recommended this place to friends and will definitely be back again.

Great hotel! I really like this place and all the staff have been awesome. We will definitely be coming back very soon!

This place has class & charm, comfort & beauty, history and cleanliness all rolled into one lovely establishment here in the heart of St. Michael's. My partner and I were lucky to be among the first guests to stay at this newly opened gem, and as such we were greeted by friendly and attractive staff who were helpful, personable, and attentive to our needs. We woke up well-rested and relaxed on our balcony, which overlooks a luscious garden. We listened to a chorus of birds greet the morning sun while we sipped espresso. The comfort this hotel provides and the serenity of its surroundings really does it for us. It has the quaint charm of a traditional bed and breakfast, but still offers all of the accommodations that one can expect from a luxurious hotel. Steps away from cute local shops, museums and restaurants, yet quiet and peaceful and restorative. We are grateful to have found this place and we are eager to share our wonderful experience with others! Thanks Wildset! We will most definitely be back when we need to recharge our batteries.

We had an amazing stay at the Wildset for a long weekend. Everything about this hotel led to a relaxing and serene weekend with family, including our two young kids (3 and 1). The design is beautiful and provides a sense of calm. The staff is wonderful. Super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the morning breakfast, grabbing it and sitting at different places on the property while our kids played. Evening s'mores were a hit with the kids as well and we're a good end to long days exploring St. Michaels and surrounding areas. We'll definitely be back here again!

Stayed at Wildset on a weeknight. A great experience, fantastic location and thoughtful attention to details. Friendly staff. Complimentary room snacks (spring water, chips) and a light breakfast. The room was bright, airy and clean. Our room was across the street from the main building. All looked very new and well kept. We would definitely stay there again.

They have all of the equipment, but nothing too fancy. I loved that you could use the hotel bikes to go into town. Or borrow kayaks whenever. The food was great at the inn. Coffee was available all morning right outside Stars (the restaurant). The tennis court wasn't in pristine condition (perhaps because in rained). And the rackets we were given were kids rackets (the one adult racket had a a broken string). But that's ok. Again, no big deal. The grounds were stunning. The flowers were beyond gorgeous. And people were always out there working on them- and it shows! I can't wait to come back!

We asked to be moved to the dining room. Staff was extremely rude and stuck us in the back in the dining room by ourselves and ignored us until we asked to be served. For $155 per person, we expected a much higher level of quality and service. The service throughout the meal was extremely slow, the food was mediocre at best, and the brunch setup felt confusing and underwhelming. There was a buffet for salads and sides, but then guests still had to select an entrée from a dinner-style menu in the middle of the day. The dessert buffet was nearly empty by the time we got there, and we ended up being served parfaits instead. They didn't even provide parfait spoons, and we had to ask for a knife just to scrape the bottom of the glass. The property itself is beautiful, but unfortunately the dining experience did not come close to justifying the price. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed, especially for a special occasion like Mother's Day.

Window of the the water with a great view from our room. Room was neat and bed was comfortable. Stayed for the weekend, breakfast both days was good. French toast, eggs and sausage morning one. Morning two eggs or pumpkin pancakes. Both were great. Only negative was the shower in our room. It was a stall shower, which we knew, but the water pressure was terrible. It also took about 10 minutes to come to a warm temp, I felt bad running the water that long. All and all great stay. I'd 100% suggest this place for a weekend getaway.

Before we left I planned a surprise sailing cruise for my fiancé and Aida left a sweet note about the gift from me and vouchers for complimentary gelato around the corner for us. She is so accommodating even when a few little things didn't go as planned for us. (Car trouble, weather... not her doing at all but she made them easier to manage.) She has great suggestions for what to do in St. Michael's. Breakfast was set up beautifully in the morning and cooked to order. Portions were huge if you wanted them. We are lighter eaters and once I told her that she gave us perfect smaller portions, but if you want a big breakfast you will not be disappointed here. The inn only has about eight rooms, and each is different. Ours was very comfortable with flowers, art and antiques wherever I looked. There's central air and the softest towels I think I've ever used. She lets you keep stuff in the fridge and even said we could use her laundry when my fiancé sat on something and messed up his pants. We had leftovers when we needed to leave and she gave us a styrofoam cooler to take with us... that will be used a lot this summer, I'm sure. The location is walking distance to most things in town, so while there is off street parking, we walked most of the time. You can't go wrong here with Aida's Victoriana Inn! Note, though, a lot of businesses and restaurants in town are operating at partial capacity or reduced hours, or are closed due to Covid 19. This has nothing to do with the Victoriana Inn, but it is worth calling ahead if you have specific things you want to do while in town to make sure they're available. We had to shift some dining plans but it was a last minute getaway and we didn't care all that much. It a worked out but if you have your heart set on something, check in advance to make sure you'll be able to do it.

The hotel is cute and couldn't be more convenient. The not-so-good. It's loud. We stayed in the French country room which I cannot recommend. Car doors slamming at all hours. Loud footsteps above. When I was in the bathroom I could hear full conversations. The church bells toll every 15 minutes throughout the day. The busy restaurant across the street received frequent deliveries accompanied by beeping when they backed up. Pick a different room. We were there three nights and our room was never serviced. Bed never made, no trash removed, no clean towels, no soap or toilet paper restocked. While the breakfast was good, higher quality ingredients would improve the meal. The coffee was a particular disappointment, and the bacon was thin and low quality. At this price point, our expectations were higher. We'll make another choice if and when we return.

I suggest just calling vs trying to work it out over email...there's plenty to consider when renting here...which building, which room, etc. The website does a good job describing things but no substitute for talking with someone there who knows... Our Chesapeake Room was in the main building, second floor. This is an expansive room with romantic appeal. Street noise minimal, footsteps from the third floor not so much, it is what it is, didn't bother us. Large flat screen TV, jacuzzi tub (if that is your thing) and a shower w/o curtain, doors or wall, inside the jacuzzi. Keurig coffee machine worked well. Bed was comfy. Situated in the heart of the business district and just a couple of minutes walk to the harbor. We ate and drank on the water, Foxy's Harbor Grille, walked over to the Harbor Inn for a drink then finished at Ava's back on Talbot St. Morning breakfast was delicious. I had the sausage benny. The breakfast room was not open to the public and it is small. The Inn schedules your breakfast visit for this reason and I can imagine it might get crazy if it is open to the public at the same time. I don't how know how this is managed but it did not affect us. All in all a great visit. Just be reminded that the Inn has multiple buildings and room options. Do some research and then talk to them to sort out your preferences and expectations.

The owner, Janet, was very helpful both before us picking this B&B and during our entire stay. Our stay was from Fri-Sun in the middle of winter and we wound up being the only guests in the house that weekend, which was nice for us. Upon arrival, Janet takes you into the beautifully decorated parlor room where you fill out forms for when and what you want for breakfast each morning. She had a different menu for each day of our stay. She then gave us a tour of the home while taking us to our room, the Harrison room, which was located on the 2nd floor. There are only three guest rooms, two of which are located at the 2nd floor and the other on the 3rd floor. Janet has done a wonderful job of decorating this very old home and we enjoyed our stay in the lovely and comfortable Harrison room. The room is equipped with a queen sized bed, a sitting area, fireplace, HDTV, coffee maker, and a private bathroom. The wood burning fireplace was all set, so all we had to do was light it. Being the middle of winter, we lit the fire each night. The bathroom sink is small, but there is a built-in open medicine cabinet where you can store your toiletry items. Close the bathroom door and flip on the heater, and the bathroom will be nice and toasty for yourself! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed each of our breakfasts. Both days, we started with fresh fruit, which came with a little scoop of raspberry sherbet. Our first breakfast consisted of french toast with sausage on the side and on the second morning, we had waffles with bananas. You have your choice of coffee, teas, and juices. She also has an assortment of DaVinci syrups to add to your coffee if you like. Breakfast was always ready at the time we specified each morning, and we got to enjoy our breakfast while sitting next to a roaring fire. The dining room consists of one round table, so you would be potentially eating with others if other guests picked a breakfast time the same or close to what you picked. Free WiFi is provided, but I found it to be slow much of the time. I think the issue had to do with where the access point is located. I had a fairly weak WiFi signal from the room on the second floor, but things improved somewhat when I sat in the parlor room. Ultimately it wasn't a real big deal for me as my device had a cellular signal and I wound up using that most of the time. The B&B is located just off a side street in downtown St. Michaels and we simply walked into town to go shopping. You are also very close to the Maritime Museum. Only street parking is available around the house. Being the dead of winter, we had no difficulty parking. I would say watch out for the no parking signs as I accidentally wound up illegally parking the first night. Fortunately a neighbor told me before a cop discovered it! This B&B accepts cash or check only and you do have to pay 50% at the time of reservation. I would have preferred that credit cards were accepted. In summary, Dr. Dodson house provided my wife and I and very relaxing weekend getaway with delicious breakfasts, and this is exactly what we were looking for. Each room is named after one of the Log Canoes that still race to this day. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Magic room, the boat that happens to be skippered by the owner of the Inn (and boat yard next door). The rooms aren't large, but the attention to detail and the historical photos and images and furnishings show that the owners care about providing a unique experience that you can't get in any other place in Saint Michaels. Our room had beautiful antiques, but also looked brand new and had everything you would want in a modern hotel. We have been to Saint Michaels many times, and for the most part, you want to be out on the town or in the water. The Log Canoe Inn gave us a historical perspective of where we are, with a great view too! If we are able to get in later this year, we will stay there again.

Our lovely server told us about his upcoming trip to Spain and always made sure we had what we needed throughout dinner. I ordered the beef tenderloin and my husband had the sea bass. We were surprised at how full we were! The amusé bouche was an oyster in a light cream sauce (it's been a few days - I believe that's correct). Delicious, as was the light vegetable serving my boyfriend had since he is more vegetarian. The oyster stew was also wonderful (no wonder I was so full) and they provided a vegetable soup that was too. Our mains around the table were a black cod (again, I think that's accurate), and Maryland Crab Boil which really is a crab cake and very crab full. The fish had a nice crisp touch but tender and moist - all excellent and just enough for us. There was a vegan chocolate mousse made with avocado, a flourless dairy version, both good. We also had the panna cotte and an interesting donut with tropical fruit. I could tell my server wasn't quite impressed with the cake donut but I had to try it and it was just ok. Downsides? It was a 3 hour meal. Long breaks in between. Good thing we all like each other and have many stories to tell. Whether there was a large party going on or what, we don't know. They could have kept us more informed about timing and/or offered another round of wine but we were pretty much on our own in between as we were outside on the patio. Otherwise a five star experience and nice staff though they feel a bit young and at the mercy of the kitchen. Having been a waitperson it felt like they were afraid to interact to tell us about timing. But I always think it's better for the customer to know what's up and feel taken care of rather than abandoned. We'll be back another time however.!
