Went back again for a long weekend. We stayed in the handicap cabin. The only issue was the windy weather causing noises all night long. I did have my sleep earbuds on due to a snoring partner so that wasn't a problem once I put them in my ears. Tracy and Bob were gracious hosts as always. The sunroom is my hideaway for building puzzles. The lighting and views are perfect to be inside but not feel like I'm missing out on the beautiful scenery. Watching the sunset from there is also great on windy afternoons. The giant cross reminds me of how blessed I am to be back again each time we visit. read more

The Black Walnut Point Inn was an absolutely amazing venue. I am an out-of-town bride, and I was only able to visit the venue (and MD period) once in person before the week of the wedding! It is pretty stressful planning a wedding from across the country, and Bob and Tracy were super helpful in the planning process, vendor selection, and in answering all of my questions, no matter how random. The property itself is beautiful, we had an amazing ceremony out on the lawn, and enjoyed a lovely sunset during our dinner reception. But Bob and Tracy are what make this place 5 stars; they are warm, welcoming, helpful, and treated us and all of our guests like family. They took photos of the whole weekend, which I did not at all expect and was amazing of them, and presented us with a DVD of them all when we left. I highly recommend the BWPI for an outdoor wedding venue, or even for just a weekend getaway! Just be aware it is definitely off the beaten path, about a 1 hr 40 min from Baltimore area (and a toll across the Bay Bridge), 40 min or so from Easton. The location is a wonderful spot and the room in the old house was great. We greatly enjoyed the sunsets and the water views. What we didn't enjoy was the swimming pool with an algae bloom, the grounds that were in serious need of weeding and a breakfast that made a Holiday Inn breakfast look like a 5 star meal (we were there 3 days and had to go to town buy my own juice as they only had coffee & tea) You can tell the flower beds used to be glorious, but current caretakers basically 'phoning-it-in' and let the prickers and weeds overgrow all. read more

My husband and I celebrated our five year anniversary at the Black Walnut Point Inn and it was absolutely incredible. The inn is very secluded on water and it's so idyllic. You can watch the sunrise AND the sunset, being the inn is on the peninsula/end of island. Bob and Tracy were unbelievably kind and welcoming to us. They made us breakfast in the morning and had coffee and tea ready. We would enjoy breakfast and then sit on the porch with our coffee. We spent time reading by the pool and felt like we had the place to our entire selves. We stayed in the Attic Hideaway and it was perfect for the two of us. We ventured into town for some seafood on the water then brought a bottle of wine back to split as we watched the sun go down. We will definitely be back! read more

On a Monday afternoon I made an online reservation for two nights starting that evening, noting that we would arrive about 4:30pm. I received an immediate confirmation by email. My credit card was charged immediately for the first night. At 4:45pm we arrived at a gate on Black Walnut Point Road. One sign announced that this was the Black Walnut Point Natural Resource Management Area, open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. To it's right another sign announced that the Black Walnut Point Inn was straight ahead. But the gates were shut tight and padlocked. And two more signs proclaimed "Area Closed NO TRESPASSING when gates are closed." I tried calling the inn a couple times and left a message on the answering machine. Also sent an email. No response. Eventually we retreated three miles for a disappointing dinner at a restaurant overlooking Harris Creek. Two hours later we returned and the gates were still locked and the phone still wasn't answered. Fortunately as we were twelve miles into our two hour drive home we passed a sign for a B&B in McDaniel. They were home and had a room and it was fabulous. The next morning Bob & Tracy called back, leaving a message explaining that they had been out for the day and hadn't blocked availability on their website because they don't normally get last minute reservations. They promised to refund the charge on my credit card. The refund came through four days later. All-in-all, the only thing that prevented this from being a total fiasco is that we stumbled upon a different property on the way home that was absolutely fabulous at 3/5 the price I would have paid at the Black Walnut Point Inn. A piece of advice: IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE IN THE HOSPITALITY BUSINESS, YOU NEED TO BE THERE WHEN YOU (OR YOUR AGENTS) HAVE PROMISED THAT YOU WILL BE THERE. read more

Well, turns out he is a big embellisher and just a teller of tall tales. Nothing he talked about materialized. He doesn't answer the phone and doesn't return calls/emails. His boyfriend/partner Tracy is just a hot mess. I don't even know where to start with him. He somehow thought shouting in my face and talking about his previous wedding bride having a miscarriage would be a helpful contribution when he decided to crash my food tasting with the caterer and eat our food. Since we paid the final payment on our site fee (before the wedding), we just began to feel like an inconvenience and unwanted guests. We spent months planning our wedding and were just cool as ice, calm and collected about everything. No stress, no worries.... But when it came time for the wedding and had to deal with Bob & Tracy on "the day of", I felt like we were part of their crazy dramatic bridezilla drama-filled disorganized wedding... instead of the bride & groom. They whined and complained about everything and generally acted bitchy and rude, like we were college students throwing an unwanted keg-party in their backyard or something. Which is really funny, since about 80+% of our guests were C-level executives, lawyers, doctors, engineers and professors. We had a wonderful tent, wonderful food, wonderful bar, wonderful band, wonderful DJ, wonderful toasts... but horrible hosts. They are incapable of handling an event smoothly and without unnecessary drama. Tracy threw a huge tantrum about my aunt having a service dog on premises... and said he was cancelling the wedding because "I don't allow dogs in my house and it went inside the inn...I'm going to cancel this wedding" LOL!!! It was a tiny little dog in a service dog vest with his service dog ID attached to it. I tried to be calm but he just kept escalating it... until it came to the point of shouting obscenities at full volume AT MY MOTHER. This was just one of many remarkable things they did that evening, and probably not even the worst thing they did. It was an interesting situation... to say the least. All my guests thought the wedding was wonderful...and so did I... We loved our wedding and everything we put together...but the whole time we felt like we were fending off two psycho drama queens who were in over their heads. Bottom line, they are just inexperienced amateurs... they were overwhelmed and in over their heads, and downright scared. It was simply too much for them... and their solution for any problem seems to alway involve maximum drama and rudeness, rather than gracious warmth and calm problem solving. It's funny, because you can go to any of the local places on the whole island (or eastern shore really), like the awesome Harrison Country Inn, and the attitude is totally the opposite. These guys don't really belong here... they aren't Eastern Shore people. Somehow they landed the deal to live out their B&B fantasy after Tracy got fired from his job. Two thumbs down for the selfish drama queens. They are just consistently dishonest, rude, selfish, unprofessional and downright outrageously obnoxious. Bob and Tracy are sick people. Stay away from them. The only thing the BWPI has going for it is the scenery. You're better off staying at the Harrison Country Inn or one of the other B&Bs that actually tries (you know, like actually has a real breakfast....other than those same old soggy egg squares every morning). I was severely traumatized by the experience of dealing with them for my wedding. I felt like they tried to ruin it. They are also dishonest, when we came to stay at the inn a month before our wedding, they told us the only room available was the most expensive one.... but there were no other guests when we came. Just overall, every dealing with everyone involved in our wedding, EXCEPT BWPI, was awesome! All the other people on and around Tilghman Island (Easton, St Michaels, etc.) ARE THE BEST...SUCH SUCH nice people...so friendly..... BUT BOB & TRACY are the BWPI were just a nightmare to deal with. Unprofessional, unreliable, dishonest, RUDE RUDE RUDE RUDE and MELODRAMATIC to a MAXIMUM possible level. I don't know what their problem is.... There is no better place to get married than Black Walnut Point Inn. Not only is the location itself magical and scenic, as you are surrounded by water with beautiful sunsets, but Bob and Tracy are incredible people who will help you craft the best day possible and who you will genuinely enjoy having at your wedding. Tracy officiated our wedding and brought the perfect amount of sentiment and humor to the ceremony. They truly make you feel like family while staying at Black Walnut and do everything in their power to make sure your weekend is amazing. Having the entire inn for the weekend was also wonderful. We loved being able to spend that time with the bridal party and family, and not have to rush to pack up and leave the venue after the wedding was over. Stunning views and vistas but the grounds landscape and cabins are in great need of attention. The innkeepers are delightful and make delicious meals. I just wanted so badly for the grounds to be looked after better. Cabins were all a real letdown. The bay and river waterfronts are the redemptive save. I cannot say enough about this incredible place. My husband and I were looking for just a night away to relax and escape. I have lived in Maryland for 25 years and never even knew about Tilghman Island. From start to finish this was the most relaxing night away EVER. During a pandemic? Totally safe. Contactless check in and check out. We walked the beautiful grounds, enjoyed the fact that there were folding chairs to use and sit and just enjoy the sunset. We even got up early to enjoy the sunrise. We felt incredibly safe and relaxed. The room was super clean, quiet and everything we wanted. Thank you for a wonderful escape. HOST A WEDDING HERE!!! It's crazy that people don't like this place or the owners. We attended a wedding here over the past weekend and it was AMAZING. Not only because the wedding was well planned, but because Tracy and Bob were on top of everything, but in a fun, non-stressed way of doing it. Most event coordinators are nerve racking, stressed, a-holes. These guys were fun, on time, and knew when to be serious and when to laugh. Let's be real people, the behind the scenes of weddings ARE NOT FUN. Being in a wedding IS NOT FUN. It's a whole lot of "stand here and be quiet. wait there for thirty minutes. wear this. say that. yadda yadda yadda." When the weather dropped 30 degrees and got super windy they tightened up the hatches on the tent walls, cranked up the heater, turned up the music, and got people moving to heat the place up. We hosted our nearly 200 person wedding at Black Walnut Point Inn in May 2015 and could not have had a better experience. Not only are the views beautiful, Bob and Tracy are wonderful to work with. If you can dream it up, they'll figure out a way to make it happen. They also have existing relationships with most of the vendors on or near the Island, so it makes coordinating very easy. Our friends have told us time and again that ours was the most epic, fun wedding they've ever been to - and that's due in large part to Bob and Tracy's willingness to let us go a little crazy and get outside of the traditional wedding box. read more

This is a great place for rest and refreshment. Truly one of God's chosen places. We stayed in a cabin. Bed was great full kitchen and clean. The staff is fantastic. They make you feel special. The grounds are beautiful and the views great. We loved the sunrises and sunsets. The main house was rich with style and elegance. The sun room had a great view of the sunset. The breakfast was first rate and the cook very personable. Didn't use the hot tub but other guests seemed to really enjoy it. I can truly say you can't go wrong staying here. My wife and I were lazily driving in town and stumbled upon this what appears to be a positive / pretty bed and breakfast. When we pulled up, my wife got out of the car and walked inside the entrance. This guy named Billy and his colleague rudely told us that we were not able to visit the property because it was rented out. My wife asked if she could quickly peek inside and he aggressively told her the guests wouldn't want any "gawkers"! He then told his colleague that we should get her out of here like she was a criminal. We were shocked at this horrific treatment. I told her we should just leave. As she started walking back to the car, I mentioned to the manager he shouldn't be treating prospective guests this way. He then told us very directly "to kiss his ass". Stunned is an understatement. This is exactly how it happened. If you are thinking of visiting here - I would think twice before booking a room. Avoided this place at all costs. read more

Beautiful grounds. Unfortunately it rained most of the time we were there. A truly relaxing place in quiet isolation. Very friendly innkeepers and staff with lovely touched and delicious breakfasts. The house, however, is very old - part of the charm - so be prepared. This won't be "luxury," but it's definitely peaceful and quaint. The price is probably a bit steep for what you get, but seems like the going rate on the Eastern Shore is high to begin with! read more

My wife and I recently hosted our friends and family for our wedding at BWPI. We booked the entirety of the inn and had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception on their stunning grounds. A week later, we are still getting rave reviews about Bob and Tracy's not so little piece of paradise. Not only was the wedding experience smooth, but we were treated to butterflies galore and numerous bald eagle sightings. We also highly recommend Two if by Sea for catering. Needless to say, we will be back for many relaxing trips both summer and winter. read more

I couldn't agree more with the below review from 6/1/2015. We hosted a smaller wedding of approximately 50 people on 6/13/2015. Bob and Tracy were absolutely wonderful and kept me completely relaxed and focused during the entire weekend. During down time, guests were able to fish, kayak, swim, play volleyball, grill, etc. As previously noted by another Yelper, Bob and Tracy have excellent relationships with their vendors, which makes the entire process planning process flawless. The BWPI is a little piece of paradise that should not be overlooked when planning your next event or getaway. read more

I have to agree with the previous reviewer - this is a beautiful spot, great for a peaceful getaway. We loved relaxing on the screened in porch, enjoying the view. We went on an outing on the Rebecca T. Ruark skipjack - don't miss it, Capt. Wade had amazing stories. We also had an excellent dinner at the Tilghman Island Inn. Main downside would be the food. For being such a nice inn, you'd expect better than box mix pancakes and fruit salad of questionable freshness for breakfast. Too bad - if they raised the bar on their breakfast, it would really be a five star getaway. read more

Where to begin. My friends had a wedding here and Bob and Tracy were unprofessional and just a mess. For example, I booked my room and they charged my credit card for the deposit. Then days later they called the bride to tell her they double booked rooms and to let me know I had no room. Why are you involving the bride in your silly mistake of over-booking the property?! And when I called him to tell him I was disappointed, he told me the other hotel we could book was better anyway. Oooookay. But it got way worse. Yes, a wedding can be very challenging - from unpredictable weather to unpredictable guests with needs and requests that are not easy to satisfy. But Bob and Tracy sold them selves as site managers and day of coordinators and they were not on top of their game. When a storm blew in right before the wedding Bob said to the groom "this wedding is not happening." Ummmmm. It's his job to make it happen. After the storm, the guests and the band were tying the side of the tent on (which should have been done before the storm to keep the tables from getting wet), getting new linens, resetting tables, wiping down chairs. Bob should have been instructing the catering staff to do that. As a hospitality professional he should be resolving conflicts and problem solving to make sure the wedding event is successful and not stressful to the bride, groom and other guests. Instead he was MIA, causing unnecessary drama, or repeatedly calling the police or fire department on his guests. He also told the bride and groom there was no curfew for the space, then pulled the plug on the party early. This wedding was about 100 people and it doesn't seem like these gentleman can handle a wedding of this size. Major FAIL. On a positive note, the location is gorgeous - right on the water with beautiful views. The cabins were also awesome accommodations. Too bad the inn keepers were not accommodating. read more

Where to begin... My dear friends decided to host their wedding at the Black Walnut Point Inn. While the location is stunning, the Inn Keepers/ Wedding Coordinators were an absolute nightmares to deal with. I have worked for many years as a wedding planner and when my best friend asked me to help plan her wedding I was thrilled to be a part of it. The Inn itself is the ideal location for an outdoor wedding on the bay. 2 hours from DC, water on all sides and tucked away from everything. But, if you plan on having a normal wedding where guests can dance the night away and drink champagne with no worries in the world this is not the location for you. The initial site visit left the bride and groom with a a feeling that this was the place. Bob, the person in charge of the selling and servicing weddings promised them the world. With gorgeous surroundings and a promise of total privacy, a bonfire on the lawn, unlimited private access to a pool and hotub and no shut down time they were ready to book. It all went down from there. When we attended the wedding tasting a month before, information came to light that was not previously discussed by the Inn Keepers. It left a bad taste in the bride and groom's mouth but they decided to move forward. Fingers crossed that even though they seemed to know very little about weddings we could still make it work. At the start of the wedding the weather turned and just 10 minutes before the ceremony was about to begin a tornado watch was in full effect. As I attempted to downplay it to the bride and groom, keep them in their cabins and minimize their stress, Bob and Tracy did the opposite. Tracy came running out shouting "its not a question of if its coming, its when its coming." I asked him "what does this mean, what are you telling me, do we need to move people inside", etc. He basically rolled his eyes at me and told me he didn't know. What they should have of done was problem solve. Outdoor weddings are always at the whim of mother nature and when things aren't looking good it is the job of the coordinator to downplay the situation to the bride and groom, get the towels ready for wiping everything down, tie down the tent sides and make it happen. Instead Bob and Tracy stood around giggling and making jokes about how the wedding may not happen. The next fail was when the groom's aunt had a service dog with her and Tracy flipped out. As I was running around trying to figure out how to get the ceremony going as the rain was beginning to cease, I interrupted a screaming match between Tracy and the groom. The person that was screaming was Tracy. This was before the ceremony had even began and Tracy was fuming, threatening that he had pictures of the dog on the lawn and legal representation and was basically throwing a fit about their no dog policy. This was all over a 25 pound pomeranian wearing a little vest with papers very clearly stating he was a service dog. By law, that dog should have been allowed on the premises without question. Then the wedding began. The next few hours were smooth, guests were having fun, eating, drinking, dancing. As midnight rolled around, the bride and groom were getting excited. They were ready to relax and enjoy the after party. This is when Bob and Tracy went running through the property rudely stating that it was midnight and everyone had to leave and the music had to be turned off. Tracy went as far as to throw a fit in the foyer saying "I just want everyone out of MY house" while clenching his fists and stomping his feet. One of the main selling points of Inn was that it was far away from it all and everyone could stay as long as they wanted and their was no cut off on music. It was also no where to be found in the contract that it all had to end at midnight. Bob and Tracy then called the police, not once but twice. The first time was to kick everyone out and the second was to end the bonfire. Both of these things were not only promised to the bride and groom, but were the main reasons they booked the BWPI for their wedding!! Bottom line- the place is beautiful. While it should be a hot spot for weddings based on the location and setting- it is not. They do not want your business and treat you as if you are guests intruding in their private home. They have no experience in dealing with weddings and all the things that come along with it. People spend copious amounts of money on weddings so that the coordinators deal with everything, from the food to the guests to the weather and all the other drama involved. Instead, Bob and Tracy over dramatized everything, threatened their guests and tried to have people arrested. if you are considering a wedding in Tilhman Island, which is a lovely place with very friendly people look elsewhere. They have no idea what their doing and I am still baffled as to why they would choose to be hospitality professionals. read more

I'm lying on a hammock overlooking the Chesapeake Bay while the sun starts to set. All I can hear are birds and dragonflies... butterflies are everywhere. This is a God send... this is a sanctuary... somebody pinch me! When you look at the aerial photo of this gorgeous place it doesn't account for all the many little private nooks in which to relax and reflect. An Adirondack chair under a tree branch trellis, in a chair on the porch with a busy bird's nest above chattering away, or pitch a chair next to the butterfly bushes and watch their show. I woke up and had a cup of coffee sitting on the rocks watching waterfowl fly by and fish jumping. There are no worries here, no concerns, they're not allowed. There was a wedding here just before I arrived. I couldn't imagine a more beautiful or tranquil location to express your vows. The house is just amazing! It's history is a story unto itself. A vintage gem decorated about in ornaments and plates passed down by a loving grandmother. It's charming and it feels like home. The rooms are very quaint and the cabins are outstanding! Breakfast is wonderful! A Western egg souffle, fresh blueberry pancakes, cinnamon roll bread pudding, coffee, tea, juices and all the fixings. Heaven! Bob and Tracy are such warm, kind and thoughtful hosts providing everything you need even if you didn't know you needed it. So true. They want you to be happy, truly cared for and warmly welcomed. Gorgeous setting. We saw eagles, bluebirds, redwinged blackbirds, other winged wonders. The sunroom in the main house is worth the price of admission. We stayed in one of the little cabins, which was very private and comfortable. Our only complaint was the breakfast -- overcooked egg thing baked in a muffin tin, dry cold rolls, nothing special, especially when compared with the rest of the Inn's amenities. Definitely try Two If By Sea for dinner. read more

Heaven on Earth on this lovely little island oasis on the Chesapeake. We stumbled upon the inn on a drive through the area and couldnt believe what a beautiful spot we had found. Hosts Bob and Tracy are gracious, generous, and welcoming. They and their staff, ( Ms Virginia and Peggy) create delicious filling breakfasts every morning, iced mint tea to die for (and worthy of 5 stars in themselves), and impromptu gatherings at any time. The gorgeous house is surrounded on one side by a bird sancuary, and on all others by the beautiful chesepeake bay. You can watch the sunset from the privacy of your well appointed, clean, cozy room, or pool side with friendly guests. You can wander the manicured property and feel as quiet as you want, or join friendly guests, hosts, and staff on the porch. Go there. as soon as you can. You'll love it! read more

While I would like to first point out that the grounds of the Black Walnut Inn are gorgeous and the location is great for a quite relaxing vacation I would absolutely not reccomend this place for a wedding unless the proprietors Bob and Tracy are no longer in charge of the place. As event coordinators it is their job to take the pressure and anxiety away from the bride and groom and make sure everything runs smoothly. Even if this was the largest event they have ever done (100 guests), they missed this mark by a long shot. They were extremely unprofessional, consistantly bothered the bride with minor details and created more drama than was neccessary throughout the whole event. It all started when they refused to allow a service dog of one of the guests on the property (which they are required to allow by law). Eventually the dog was allowed on site, but only after a screaming match between the innkeepers and a few of the guests. Then Tracy told the bride her wedding was "not going to happen" when it began to rain which is by far the LAST thing you say to a bride on her wedding day. And then to top it off the catering company created 2 plates for the bride and groom so that they did not have to go to the buffet themselves. When the bride asked Bob if he know what happened to the dinner that was set aside by the caterers for her and the groom she was told that the caterers gave the plates to him so he and Tracy ate them. That is just simply unacceptable and unprofessional. The innkeepers basically acted like the bride and groom were actors at their own wedding and treated the guests as an inconvience. While this may be a nice Inn for a weekend getaway I would absolutely never book a wedding here, which is a shame because the place has so much potential. It is simply the Innkeepers that are unacceptable as hosts and planners. read more

The setting is phenomenal and unequalled. This was my second visit to this very special but tired place. The original cabins had been replaced since my last visit. While advertised as a luxury inn, it isn't. As one with a concierge, high end cleaning and house management business, I noticed far too many things in need of cleaning and repair. The film on the cabin windows is foggy and tacky. Drapes of different lengths at same windows? Clutter detracts from the natural beauty. Remove the plates hanging everwhere. Pack up the houses. Give some unadorned visual relief. The small hot water heaters in the cabins are a joke..two short showers or one normal shower is all you'll get. The breakfasts are not at all what is expected. Omelet only the first day. No fruit, toast or muffins. Baked eggs the second day. Hopping john all gone. Stacks of cool, precooked pancakes on the table. While we'll go back again, for the price, I don't think one gets what they pay for. read more
